| Was waken at 4am with a call from my dad (who recently had neck surgery) that my mom was being taken to the hospital for cardiac symptoms. Spent 3 hours in the ER, she is ok with likely stress and muscle strain from helping my dad so much the past few weeks.
Spent the entire day with them try to help them out, then got in 3 miles later in the day to burn off stress before falling asleep at 7:30pm.

| Well, interesting weekend, highs and lows. Today marks my official date for 30 years working for the Department of Energy. With this milestone, now I just need to keep going 2.5 years to my minimum retirement age to retire!
This milestone takes on new meaning as of yesterday. I have finally figured out my pain from the past 1.5 months. Last night it got so bad my wife took me to the emergency room. Back pain, chest pain, trouble breathing. After some meds, blood work and a CT scan, I found out I have two pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in my lungs). They are small and treatable and I wil be on meds, but now to find out why I have them (no causes evident and traditional precursors not present). At least I can name my pain, which means I can treat it. All other indicators are great, so I was released early this morning and now just need to have my body get rid of these and hopefully prevent additional occurrences. Good news is that exercise is a primary treatment, so keep on running!

Today marks the one year anniversary of my son starting his job with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta! Time flies!
Got to connect for dinner with old friends and colleagues from my previous position who are in town for meetings (even got a few out especially to see Kami and I who normally don't do the "dinner" thing after meetings!). I really miss them (have not made friendships like them since in my current job) and the mission, but am glad to be done with some of those stresses of that job.

Living in country that regulates guns less than women's rights while at the same time marketing to men to "increase their performance in bed" and to make sure "she likes it too" but not holding the men accountable as well for the result (just the woman's problem to deal with). Cares more about "unborn" fetuses than living people. Wants to arm teachers rather than hold law enforcement to ethical standards and their "duty to serve and protect". Says My body my choice then tells others what to do with their bodies. Supports a regime that has been proven to have lied, coerced and conspired to stay in power, supported lawlessness at the house of demoncracy but then dispands marches for human rights.
Still in pain, can't sleep and just pissed. Ran 10 miles (5 with Moxie) harder with the hopes of dislodging the blood clots in my lungs to travel and be done with it. Didn't work, now to drink. (React Black)

So much for celebrating our country. 6 killed celebrating in the heart of the country where the "conservatives" who loves guns just renominated a person for Congress who came out and said recently a win for "white lives".
Also, locally where a group was expressing their free speech at the parade in support of women's rights (which have been reduced), "God fearing" conservatives reaction to their expression: thrown firecrackers at women and kids, yell obcenities and threaten to shoot them! So these "gun loving GOOD guys" are threatening violence against others and no response from the crowd or law enforcement.

As we were in SRL, saw a sign that warned dog owner's that due to 'excessive' dog waste on the grass that owners must keep dogs on leash and pick up poop or they would be asked to leave the property. This was I was walking on their pathway so covered in goose droppings that are shoes nearly were sliding on the path! You clear the goose poop and I will consider then picking up my dog's crap on your grass!

Had dinner at a former colleague who retired recently. She and her husband are a fantastic example of what retirement should be and we plan on following their model. They showed us a slide show of one of their recent adventures that looked really cool and may get on our bucket list...they hiked teh Inca Trail to Machu Pichu! Next trip is to New England for fun and to follow a concert they want to see! They are more busy now then when they worked.

Got a blood draw today to further investigate m pulmonary embolism. 17 vials of blood for the tests! So much that by the time we got to 10 vials I was lightheaded and ended up with a vasovasal syncopy event. Not fun. Very tired the rest of the day even though I had to do work (on my day off).

Fun to talk with students interested in both full time jobs (my focus) and internships (I am not ready with that program yet).
