So, I went out the ladies this morning.  This is my first running experience with them since I quit running at the beginning of my pregnancy last year.  It was great!  I had to take a few walking breaks, but did an okay job of staying with them.  They are a wonderful bunch of ladies and were so nice to welcome me back.  I think I'm going to be a little sore from the run, but it will definitely be a "good hurt".

Because of the yucky weather/inversion we decided to run up at the Oval this morning.  It was a busy place.  I guess the speed skating team was doing some sort of time trial so lots of people were there early to watch.  We were glad it gave us something to talk about and to distract me from my heavy breathing.  It felt soooooo good to be back running.  My legs have felt it throughout the day, but it's so nice to be getting back on track.

So, my replacement key for the treadmill finally arrived yesterday.  I know I will find the other one very soon and be so mad at myself to having to spend the $30 to get a new one. Anyway, the run went better than I had expected.  I felt really good the entire time and by the end was physically exhausted - sad, but true.  Now I just need to be more consistent.

Today I was on the treadmill again.  I was entertained the entire time by my boys playing football - it was hillarious!  I did a combination of walking/running and it felt pretty good.  I just got really hot which made it a little uncomfortable.  I'm excited to run outside this weekend.

With a very grumpy baby I was lucky to be able to get 2 miles in on the treadmill.  Just walked at a fast pace and on an incline to burn more calories.  Hoping to make it outside today or tomorrow for a good run.

Met the ladies at 6:30 this morning, which was quite difficult because I've been up for 2 nights with a cranky baby.  However, I'm very glad I went.  I think a huge part of running is the therapy involved by being with a great group of women.  We went on the regular route and I really pushed myself to make it up the hill - my legs were really burning and my breathing was super loud.  I was proud of myself for making it even though it was UGLY. (my dad used to always say, "a win is a win" and I guess I will have to go along with that today in that "a run is a run".

I jumped on the treadmill this afternoon with great hopes.  I wanted to hit 4 miles because I haven't done that since I started back running.  The first 2 miles felt great - great music on the ipod helped!  The last 2 miles were a bit of a struggle.  I just kept telling myself that you can do it, keep going, only a little more and I finally made it!!!!

We had a family movie night and I out did myself on eating junk food!  The guilt set it about an hour later, so I hauled my sorry self down to the treadmill and walked 2 miles.  Not much, but it was something.

Got up first thing this morning and headed downstairs to the treadmill.  I had a great night of sleep ( the baby only woke up once at midnight, so I got some great rest).  Ran 3 miles and it felt pretty good, did end up taking a couple of walking breaks, so that I wouldn't over do.  Can you really over do when it's just 3 miles????

I didnt realize you were running and blogging again. Sorry I have not been commenting and telling you great job and keep up it! See you could easily run the 10k in March, you ran 4 miles on the stinkin TM and to me that equivalates to at least 6.2 miles if you ask me:)

Another run on the treadmill.  I was planning on going 4 the entire time, but I felt really good and didn't use some of my walking breaks that I had planned.  I felt like I really pushed and went harder than I have in recent weeks.  Glad to be done!

Was planning to run this morning, but somehow I managed to procrastinate until 4:00 this afternoon.  Luckily, the baby fell asleep as I was putting on my shoes and the twins played trains the entire time.  The run felt good.  I was able to bump my speed up just a bit which was nice to see.

Met the ladies at 7:00 and was happy to not be in the dark.  Lots of other runners out this morning.  We decided to go the LONG route this morning.  I was slower than the other ladies, but I've had a year of doing nothing.  I felt great that I really pushed and forced myself up the 2nd mile hill and that I stayed with them most of the time.  My legs are tired and I'm ready to take a nap!

Today I told myself that I had to actually see what I could do.  I ran 3 miles non-stop!  No walking breaks, no jumping off to check kids, just 3 miles of running.  It felt great!

So, today was an off day for me, but I decided to walk on the treadmill while the kids played.  I put it at a 3.5 speed and 1.5 incline.  I read my new RunnersWorld magazine as I walked, which made it much more enjoyable.  Afterwards did a little lower body toning.

It took all day for me to get myself on the treadmill, but finally I did it.  I ran 3.25 and bumped my speed up each lap.  Accidently started on an incline (left over from my walk yesterday) so it was a bit of a hard start.  Glad to be done for the day!

Jumped on the treadmill today while the twins were at preschool and the baby napped.  I knew I needed to be a little speedier than normal so I pushed myself and my legs are really feeling it now.  I was happy to have 4 solid miles in today and hope to do that again on Thursday.  It's hard and often frustrating to be rebuilding the mileage, but I'm just happy to be back among the running.

Okay, so I didn't make it outside for my run today, but I did force myself on the treadmill.  I forgot to charge my i-pod so I found my little old running radio, but at least it's better than hearing myself breath the entire time.  The run felt pretty good and I'm glad I've been able to add on the 4th mile this week and still be okay.  I'm planning on meeting the ladies for my run on Saturday, which will be outside - yahoo!

Took a while to get the baby to sleep, but finally managed to get on the treadmill.  I was hoping to feel wonderful and go 4, but it got hot (my treadmill sits right under an air vent and with the snow outside the heater was definitely working).  I ran at a decent pace for me right now and finished feeling pretty good.  Plan to do some toning later tonight!

Got my running done early this morning.  Had all 3 boys down playing and wondered exactly how I was going to pull it off.  They surprised me and did really well.  I only had to jump off twice to help the baby!  I pushed and did 5 miles today - the most I've done at one time in over a year - so I felt really good about that.  However, I know I'm still extremely out of shape because my face is as red as as tomato.

Was super excited to be outside and to run with the ladies this morning.  My sister Jody joined us after she ran the 8 miles to my house.  It was fun to have her long.  We did a new route this morning, which was nice for the change, but tough on my legs.  I just have to be mentally prepared for what I'm running and I wasn't expecting the change.  It was a good run even if it was colder than I had hoped for.  It was a great start to the day!

I really didn't want to run today and made a lot of excuses not to, but in the end my guilt won out and I found my way to the treadmill.  My plan to run 5 or until the baby woke up which ever came first.  It was a LONG run (didn't really enjoy any of it) and I made it to 5 miles and then almost instantly the baby woke up - perfect timing!  Glad to have it done.

Can I just say that I LOVE running in St. George. Went out with my mom and her friend this morning. We started out up in Kayenta and then ran through Ivins and to Santa Clara. It was beautiful! There's nothing quite like the smell after rain in St. George - wonderful! So happy to have reached 6 miles today - a record since my pregnancy.

Had a wonderful Easter/Spring Break weekend in St. George with family.  It's hard to be back in the "real world" today.  Got the boys' off to preschool and the baby down for a nap and put in 4 miles on the treadmill.  Wore my new shoes (my birthday gift from Matt and the boys).  They felt good, but different.  It may take a few runs to really feel comfortable in them.

It was the annual Fathers & Sons campout this weekend, so it was just me, the baby and the treadmill this morning.  The baby did great crawling/rolling around and playing with every toy his brothers usually take away from him.  I had a very pleasant run and feel very glad to have it done and another week finished.  Now I'm off to a busy day of soccer games, birthday parties, and mother's day gifts.

My plan was to do 5 on the treadmill this morning.  I got the baby to sleep and the twins watching a movie and started out.  The first mile felt great, the second was even good.  Somehow I hit the wall on the 3rd mile and nothing felt good.  I pushed through it and made myself do one more to hit 4, but that is all I could do.  Not really sure what the problem was:  a complete lack of sleep due to a baby that is up all night, eating crappy yesterday, hot.  But whatever it was it was UGLY!!  Hopefully I can regroup and get a solid run in on Wednesday.

I was so excited to be able to run outside in the beautiful weather this morning.  I love the group of ladies I run with - great conversation the entire time!  Half way through the run my left heal started to hurt and sure enough when I got home I had a blister - bummer.  I was upset to see that the back of my NEW shoe had a hole worn in it.  I've only had the shoes for a month and therefore have put about 85 miles on them - I don't think they should be wearing out already.  I'm thinking about calling the store and seeing they will work with me - is that appropriate???

What a beautiful morning to go for a run.  I was happy to be able to meet up with Michelle, Jodi and Mauri.  At times it felt like I was going to die and then a minute later I felt like I could go forever - weird.  We are all excited to seriously start our training for Hobblecreek.

Glad I was able to meet the ladies this morning for our LONG run!  We had planned on doing a 6 mile route, but half way through realized we were going to come up short, so we came up with a road to add on at the end and then realized we were going to be over our 6 miles.  We finished the 6.8 miles in 1:07:23, which we all felt good about.  We had to stop at several intersections, but never walked - which we usually do at some point for a block or so.  I feel really good about things!

Husband had to be to work early, so I had to run on the treadmill.  The kids weren't super cooperative so I had to stop and deal with them a couple times.  I wore my new shoes and they felt pretty good, I think it will take a couple more times to really get used to them.  Glad to be done for today and hope to be able to go out with the ladies the rest of the week.

We met at 6:30 this morning and went on a new route.  I really liked it - down past sky park and the glenmore area.  We finished the entire 7.2 miles in 1:07:02, which seems like a good pace.  I felt good at the end and could have gone further which is good to know.

Ran the "We Make A Difference 10K" for the West Jordan Stampede and the Williams family - they are in our neighborhood.  An early start time of 6:00am  it was a little hard because of the constant up hill but I was grateful for Michelle who ran with me the entire time.  My legs were tired and it was NOT enjoyable running, but I finished with a new 10K PR = 59:08!!!!

Met Jodi and Mauri at 6:00 for our 8 mile run.  We ran down to the temple, which was much hillier than I thought when I was driving it last week.  Once we got to the top of the hill we enjoyed the view of the temple and the valley.  However we were attacked by bugs, so we quickly got on our way.  The run home was long, but good.  What a great way to start the day.

Met Laurie this morning at 5:45 (wow that's early for a Saturday) and headed out.  She had mapped a out a route and it was great, until the dirt road.  I am not a fan of dirt and gravel.  We thought it would only be a short part, but I thinking it ended up being about a mile - not fun.  We finished the 9.5 in 1:37:02 - I feel pretty good about that.  We didn't gu or anything so physically I felt it.

My sister, Jody, invited me to run the race.  I knew it would be a rough week because of girls camp, but decided to do it anyway.  I was sooooo tired after 4 days of girls and 3 nights of NO sleep, so I just wanted to finished in around an hour.  I was thrilled when I looked at my watch at mile 1 and saw that I was at 8:44.  I tried to maintain around the 9 minute mark for each mile marker.  Felt pretty good until the last mile and then my legs really started to get tired.  Glad to be done & so happy to have pushed an got a new 10K PR.

I was super excited to get back out on the streets this morning.  I was a little nervous because I knew this was going to be my longest run before the race in 2 weeks.  I met Laurie at the corner and we started out.  She keep such a nice steady pace and I love that.  We ran into a couple of dead ends and had to run on a dirt road for just a bit, but really liked the route.  The weather was perfect!!  I dropped her off at 9 miles and then added on a little so that I can feel a little more confident for the race.  I had forgotten how nice it is to sometimes run alone on road.  I enjoyed letting my mind wonder and really ponder some things in my life right now.  At one point around mile 10 I think I kind of hit that runner's high because mentally and physically I felt awesome.  Finished in 2:02.

Hello, I was just browsing blogs, and your comment on ipods caught my eye. It used to be against the rules, but the USATF..... changed that rule this year. That being said, it is up to the race director if he is going to have that be a race rule or if he will just follow US Track and Field rules. Last year Hobble Creek made it against the rules, but since then the rule was lifted by the USATF. Soooo, it may be best to ask the race director prior to the race. If your talking Hobble Creek, I would just call runners corner.

The morning started far too early!  We got to the park and quickly got our packets and loaded on a bus.  I was happy to see my sister Jody get on the same bus a few minutes later.  We waited and waited for the race to start - what a joke?!  We all decided that we were going to try to stay together and run around 9 minute miles.  Of course the beginning was crazy crowded - some people are so inconsiderate when passing.  I was glad when mile 3 came and I gu'd and things started to spread out a little bit.  I was able to keep the first 6 miles under or at 9 minute pace.  By this point our group was no longer together and then I started to slow, but was able to keep it under 10 for the remainder of the race.  I got super hot and had a hard time breathing around mile 10 and was so grateful for the down hill and the shade to calm myself down.  After the water stop and misters ( loved them)  I had to get a little more mentally tuff.  I knew that if I really pushed I could maybe hit it at 2 hours, but there just wasn't enough energy there for that.  I crossed the finish line at 2:04 on my watch and am happy with that.  To be honestly, it was hard and I'm proud of myself for running the entire thing!!

Told myself I HAD to get a good run in today.  Kept it at a steady pace until mile 3 and then bumped it up a notch.  Finished 5 in 52:00 - I'm happy with that!

On the treadmill once again.  Decided to put it on an incline today - shocking to anybody that knows me and my huge dislike for any sort of hill.  I could really feel it in my legs.  Walked the last mile as a cool down - good workout.

No running today.  I decided to mix it up just  bit and instead of running I did a 50 minute exercise video.  I could definitely "feel" the burn and used some muscles that hadn't been used in a while.  Planning to run tomorrow.

Okay, I took a 10 day running break.  Not for any real reason, just couldn't find any motivation to want to do it.  This morning I told myself I had to get back to it because my pants are starting to get a little tight.  I planned on only doing 4, but I was feeling good and the kids were cooperating so I pushed and did 5.
