Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Their moto is "more sports - brighter life", which we think is wonderful, and also deserves a Like. If you want to see a fast marathon in Crocs, go to the video and click the Like button. So, my replacement key for the treadmill finally arrived yesterday.  I know I will find the other one very soon and be so mad at myself to having to spend the $30 to get a new one. Anyway, the run went better than I had expected.  I felt really good the entire time and by the end was physically exhausted - sad, but true.  Now I just need to be more consistent.

Today I was on the treadmill again.  I was entertained the entire time by my boys playing football - it was hillarious!  I did a combination of walking/running and it felt pretty good.  I just got really hot which made it a little uncomfortable.  I'm excited to run outside this weekend.

With a very grumpy baby I was lucky to be able to get 2 miles in on the treadmill.  Just walked at a fast pace and on an incline to burn more calories.  Hoping to make it outside today or tomorrow for a good run.

Met the ladies at 6:30 this morning, which was quite difficult because I've been up for 2 nights with a cranky baby.  However, I'm very glad I went.  I think a huge part of running is the therapy involved by being with a great group of women.  We went on the regular route and I really pushed myself to make it up the hill - my legs were really burning and my breathing was super loud.  I was proud of myself for making it even though it was UGLY. (my dad used to always say, "a win is a win" and I guess I will have to go along with that today in that "a run is a run".

I jumped on the treadmill this afternoon with great hopes.  I wanted to hit 4 miles because I haven't done that since I started back running.  The first 2 miles felt great - great music on the ipod helped!  The last 2 miles were a bit of a struggle.  I just kept telling myself that you can do it, keep going, only a little more and I finally made it!!!!

We had a family movie night and I out did myself on eating junk food!  The guilt set it about an hour later, so I hauled my sorry self down to the treadmill and walked 2 miles.  Not much, but it was something.

Got up first thing this morning and headed downstairs to the treadmill.  I had a great night of sleep ( the baby only woke up once at midnight, so I got some great rest).  Ran 3 miles and it felt pretty good, did end up taking a couple of walking breaks, so that I wouldn't over do.  Can you really over do when it's just 3 miles????

Another run on the treadmill.  I was planning on going 4 the entire time, but I felt really good and didn't use some of my walking breaks that I had planned.  I felt like I really pushed and went harder than I have in recent weeks.  Glad to be done!

Was planning to run this morning, but somehow I managed to procrastinate until 4:00 this afternoon.  Luckily, the baby fell asleep as I was putting on my shoes and the twins played trains the entire time.  The run felt good.  I was able to bump my speed up just a bit which was nice to see.

Met the ladies at 7:00 and was happy to not be in the dark.  Lots of other runners out this morning.  We decided to go the LONG route this morning.  I was slower than the other ladies, but I've had a year of doing nothing.  I felt great that I really pushed and forced myself up the 2nd mile hill and that I stayed with them most of the time.  My legs are tired and I'm ready to take a nap!

A quick run while the baby slept.  I did a little bit a walking throughout, but not too much.  Amazingly, he woke up about 30 seconds after I hit stop - lucky me!

Today I told myself that I had to actually see what I could do.  I ran 3 miles non-stop!  No walking breaks, no jumping off to check kids, just 3 miles of running.  It felt great!
