| | pm--4 Easy miles, listening to some Madvillain. I'm starting the year how I start most runs just working into it.
Last year was one of my lowest mileage years since I began tracking mileage. Nonetheless, I finished the year w/ my biggest month in 2 years. Also, way more trail running. Feels like that helps keep a body healthy.
Nike LunarEpic Miles: 4.00 |

| | am--6 Anasazi but not quite to the homestead. I'm not sure what kind of running goals I have this year. Maybe, something like an average of 5 miles a day throughout the year. I'd also like to have over 100 days on the trails. I've loved the dirt these last 9 months.

Nike LunarEpic 2 Miles: 5.00 |

| | pm--6.25 Anasazi to the homestead. Decent run. Seems like my body handles climbing on the trails much better 2-3 days in a row than after a 4-5 day break.

| | pm--8 Barrel Roll from below. There's a pretty good amount of climbing on this run, and I wasn't necessarily feeling it today. Nonetheless, I persevered.
I finished Paycheck and Other Classic Stories by Philip K. Dick. The stories are thought-provoking with humanity at a premium. He's quickly becoming one of my favorites. Seems like I like sci-fi more than I ever thought.

| | am--4 Heights w/ the level 2 boys. It's nice to mix it up once in a while.
pm--4 Anasazi to the top w/ the hound. She did great at double the mileage of the last outing. She did balk once because she needed a potty break. It's fun to have a trail buddy.
I finished a great book today, Clint Smith's How The Word Is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America. Very thought provoking and more evenhanded than Coates's book. It's a must read for history buffs and humans in general.

I finished an interesting biography of Elizabeth Bishop, A Miracle for Breakfast, by Megan Marshall. Bishop is one of my favorite poets, so subtle and attuned to the natural world. Sounds like she was quite the drinker, too.

Nike Vomero NXR '17 Miles: 5.25 |
| | am--5.25 Interval work w/ 2x 1600 and 2x 800. I unexpectedly jumped in a group and hit 7:20, 7:04, 3:30, and 3:34. I haven't run like that for a while. It was fun to push. I was at the edge of pushing into something that would've got my lungs and mind panicked a bit. There are some kids making big leaps.
pm--6 Barrel Roll in a figure 8. My legs were a bit tired, but nature cures many ills.

ASICS Cumulus 23 Miles: 2.25 |
| | am--4 I didn't know if I would get a run in with family obligations and flags, but I did. The run ended up being a quickly descending progression run, maybe, because I had to get home quick. 2 miles of tempo and 1 close to 5k race pace for my current self. I feel more running fit then I have in a few years.
pm--5.75 Barrel Roll counterclockwise. Slow but good. I saw Cort, a god amongst men, near the end.

pm--4.75 Vineyard w/ 6x pickups. I ate a bowl of creamy soup and a few breadsticks minutes before. My stomach is transforming.

2021 Trail Runs Miles: 1.00 | PV Speedgoat 4 Miles: 7.00 |
| | am--10 Suicidal Tendencies. Lots of people at the trailhead w/ their sprinter vans and other high-dollar vehicles just to schlep their bikes a mile up the road. The clientele of this trail has changed over the last decade. Can't blame anyone for wanting to be on these trails, though. I took it easy and enjoyed my first double-digit run in a while. I also spotted Andrew and Jared, 2 good dudes.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. This year, I'm thankful to my wife who allows my running habit; Tom, my trail buddy; Fanny, my other trail buddy; xc peeps; and infinite books to read.

I will finish To Love as God Loves by Roberta C. Bondi. She is one of my favorite spiritual authors. Her work follows the thinking of the desert monastics from the early Christian era. Good stuff and a pretty quick read.
