Easier speed workout! 1600 @ GP 6:08, 1200 @ GP 4:36, 800 @ GP 3:04 w/ 1:30 break between, then 2x800's at 2:48 w/ 2:00 break and a 300 acceleration. Went really well, mostly just easy and nice. ((DS 250.5) (S spike 18.6)

Easy out-and-back on the TT course and it felt good and comfortable. Some shinnanningans and downheavals, but not bad overall. Then weights! (K 544)

Ran from our hotel to Hayward Field with a little detour in Alton Baker Park. It's so pretty here! I love it. Except for the fact that it went from sunshine and blue skies to hailing in less than a minute. That was no good. Once we got to the track, I ran around a few times in spikes just to get a feel for it and let the legs go for a bit. Feeling pretty crappy. Hopefully I'll get over the travel and lack of sleep by tomorrow! (DS 255) (S spike 19.4)

AWESOME RACE! I'm so super excited! I PR-ed by 26 seconds and it didn't even kill like it does at altitude. Again, I love sea-level so much! I had to break 17:30 today so that I could win my bet, so I was aiming for 84/lap beforehand. I started off a bit quick with the Oregon girls and stuck with them for the first mile or so, then I lost the pack and basically ran on my own for the rest of the race. Reeder was telling me splits, so I knew I was doing pretty well. A few girls dropped off the lead pack and I got one right away and gradually reeled in the other two so I passed them both on my last lap. Shin hurt though. And a lot of Oregon girls beat me. But I beat 2 of them! Mostly, I'm just so excited! Woo hoo! (DS 260.6) (S spike 22.5)

Legs pretty tired and sore from the race, but the workout was reasonably good. Really hard, but not too bad. Warmed up on the churches loop, then started off with a 1600 @ GP 6:08. We ran a 6:05 and it was pretty easy. Then 4 minutes break, then another 1600, this time at GP 5:36. With hurdles! Ouch. It was super hard - but Erin went out really fast so I ended up running a 5:33. Five minutes break after that, then we did 3x800s @ 2:40 GP. For the first one, we did hurdles on the second lap, but we were dead. So we opted out of hurdles for the rest. 3:00 break between each. Times were 2:41, 2:41 and 2:41. After, we got a nice 10 minute rest, then did 4x300s @ GP 54 with 2 minutes break. We were pretty tired out, so we overcompensated a bit on all of them. Times were 51, 53, 52 and 51. Quite dead afterward. Cooled down with Ali and Ash on the canal trail. (DS 265.6) (S spike 26.7)

The weather was awesome today! Yay! Ran the canal loop and just enjoyed life so much. Well, it would've been perfect without the downheavals that necessitated a potty stop. And my shin was hurting lots. But oh well. I'm happy with the weather. A lot happy. Lifted with the team after the run. (DS 273.1)

Loved today's workout! Warmed up to the track and 20 minutes with the team, then we did a 2000 @ GP 7:40, got 5 minutes break, then did 4x400 @ GP 76 w/90 recovery. So awesome. We hit a 7:39 for the 2k, then the 400's were great: 75, 76, 75 and 72. Nice and short, felt fast and happy even with the intense winds. Practiced the water jump after the workout and got a bit better at it... started off really sucking. Good to get a few jumps in before running the steeple at UCLA this weekend! Cooled down on the extended churches loop after. And froze. (DS 279.1) (S spike 29)

After flying to LA, we went straight to the track and ran around the UCLA campus for a while, then ran on their track a bit. The track is almost a circle, so it was kinda weird to run on. Especially since the barriers are in different spots than they are on our track. Don't really know what to expect for the race tomorrow, just want to do my best. If it goes well, I want to qualify for Regionals (sub-10:50). We'll see... (DS 283.8) (S spike 29.5)

QUALIFIED FOR REGIONALS! Wooo! I'm so excited! Before the race, I was pretty nervous and didn't really know what to aim for, but it went really well and I think that next time I can go even faster. Mostly, I just concentrated on having a good approach and good form over all the barriers and the water jump and the race went by really quickly. I really liked it! A couple of the barriers I got a little lazy and caught my trail leg and lost my balance a bit, but for the most part it was awesome. And I got second place, which was pretty cool too. We drove out to the beach to get in our hour-long run before the meet. It felt like the longest hour ever! My shin was so sore and my butt was having some major issues. Plus the trail along the beachfront was straight, flat and pretty boring. Still, it was fun to be at the beach. After the run, we took off our shirts and shoes and ran into the ocean - it was so cold! We played around a bit, but couldn't handle the cold very long and got out pretty soon after. Fun times. Long run today! Yay! Ran around on the big loop and enjoyed the awesome weather. Shin and butt still hurt, but I'm getting used to it. Stopped at Subway for a drink, which felt good temporarily. Then I got a sideache. Oh well. Actually wore my Garmin (for the first time in forever) and my average was 7:58/mi. (K 558.5)

Went out on a new loop for an easy run this morning. I think I'm getting less wimpy in the cold! It was 44 degrees, raining and windy and I was fine in just a t-shirt and shorts. Weird. I got totally drenched, but the run felt really good. (DS 302.5)

Gross weather! The track was covered in slush and it was snowing huge flakes the entire workout. So, we did a short warmup, then started our workout. Because of the slushy track, coach had us run by effort instead of pace - so no times for any of them. First, we had a 3000 @ 11:30 effort. Ran in my steeple spikes, so my feet were soaked and frozen from the get-go. Still, any shoes I wore would've gotten that way, so I'm glad I had shoes that drained out some of the slush and wetness at least. After 5 minutes rest, we did 5x300 @ 57 effort. Pretty sure they were too fast though... in my efforts to not be depressed about the weather, I got a little hyper. Then coach let us end the workout then, w/o having to do 3x400,200s! I was so happy!!! I should've cooled down after, but I couldn't bring myself to run in the snow anymore. (DS  304.5) (S spike 34.2)

After classes, just went on the treadmill for 40 minutes at 7:30 pace, then ran down to weights. The run felt really good, though weights didn't.

Later in the evening, after finding that I have to redo about 8 hours worth of work on a graphics project, I ran to the fieldhouse and ran off some of my frustration. Didn't get all of the frustration out though... I think that would've taken about 10 miles at 6:30 pace. And since I don't want to be dead for tomorrow's workout and the next day's race, I didn't do that. (DS 313.6)

Coach had us do a "Conference simulation" workout, where we had a 'race' today and will have one tomorrow too. So, we did a 1600m steeplechase - time was 5:38. Then we did a 300m sprint at GP 51. But it ended up being a bit too fast... 47. Oops. Felt pretty tired out after, plus I was wet, so Vanessa, Justine and I just did a 15:00 cooldown. (DS 318.1)

Ran the 1500... woo hoo? It was so stinking short! I felt really sore, tired and slow, but my time was equivalent to a 5:07 mile (which would be a PR) so I don't know. Mostly, I felt like I could've done a lot better. So that's good, I guess. Cooled down with Amberber after. Then I helped out with the discus for the rest of the meet. And got pretty well sunburned... curse Logan winters. (DS 322.8) (S spike 36.3)

Tough workout today. Warmed up and all, then started off with two 1600s @ GP 5:52 w/2:00 rest which weren't too difficult - 5:50 and 5:51 for those. After a 5:00 break, we got to the harder part: 6x400s @ GP 70-76 w/4:00 rest. Started off conservative on my times, but got down to the fastest times pretty well later - 74, 73, 72, 71, 70 and 70. Was feeling worn out by this time, even after our 10:00 break, and so the last part of the workout was tough. Two 400, 200's @ GP 72, 36 with 30 seconds between the 400 and 200, then 60 seconds between reps. Ouch. Times were pretty good, just took it a bit too easy on the first 400 - 74, 36 and 71, 35.  Tried cooling down a bit after, but I was dead. So I just ran to the Engineering building and called it quits. (DS 327.3) (S spike 40.5)

Hard workout today. First off, we did a 2000 with the second half over hurdles and with the water jump. GP was 7:40, but we were way too fast - 7:16. Oops. Then we did 2x600s @ GP 1:48-1:54. They were really hard. And fast. Times were 1:51 and 1:48. After another break, we did a 300 @ GP 45-51, and I got a 49. Then done and done. After a cooldown with Vanessa. (DS 331.3) (S spike 42.7)

Nice and short workout today. Warmed up, then did a 2000 with the first 1600 at 6:08, then the last 400 at 80 seconds or less. Kept pace pretty well, we did 6:06 then 1:13 for a total time of 7:19. Then we did four 200's at GP 33. Somehow I did them all at 30s! It was so fast, and it killed my shins, but the workout went by so quickly! Awesome. Then Vanessa, Justine and I did a little cooldown.
