Went out at around 9 for an easy run. Ran up on the N Logan loop with a mini extension on 16th north to make it long enough. I really liked the run, I'll probably do it more often in the future. (GT 453)

Ran to weights in the afternoon. Lifted and all that good stuff. And later in the evening I did a heckofabunch of situps. Woo!

Ran to practice, there we did a nice little tempo workout. We ran up to first dam from the track, then on the river trail we ran out 1.5 miles at about 7:00 pace ('twas supposed to be 7:30, but we got a little excited). On the way back we picked it up to just cruisin' down at a comfortably fast pace - Jessie and I stuck together and chatted a little. Time for the whole tempo section was 18:40, so 6:13/mi avg. for the whole thing! Nice. After the push, we took a break, then ran back to the track (with a stop at first dam to jump in and cool off, hehe). Good run. (GT 498)

Got together with Joe and went on an hour run out into north logan and back. He made us run too fast, so I died. 'Twas fun to run with him and chat and all that good stuff though. (GT 461)

Ran to the track, then drove out to AWHC for an easy pre race workout. Jogged the course with the team, did a 5 minute push at 3 (or so) near the end, ran around a little while more after to get to a half hour, then put on my new spikes (which are awesome) and did some strides on the start and finish. Feeling a bit stiff, but ready to race tomorrow! Ran home from the track after. (GT 467)

Woo hoo!!! Sweet race to start off the season today! Started off really relaxed and comfortable, a little under 6 minutes for the first mile. On the second mile a Weber girl tried to break away, but Jessie and I stuck pretty well with her as she went. Mostly ran in third for that mile, but didn't lose more than ten feet on them. The last mile I started to kick it in, especially using the downhill to pass Jessie and Weber with about a half mile to go and just trying to keep my momentum to the finish. Cruised it in strong to the finish and won a college race for the first time ever! The course was a bit short, I mapped the course, it is a 3 mile. So my adjusted 5k time is 17:50- ish.) (F spike 3.1)

After I got home from the race, I went out on a run with my neighbor up the canyon. We ran out to second dam, so about 9 miles. He did super great and it was fun to have company to finish out the week. Awesome day of running! :D (GT 479.5)

Ran up Green Canyon this morning, an hour out and back. Super great run! Once I got up onto the trails in the canyon, I was in heaven, it was so beautiful and cool. When I got to turnaround time, I went a bit extra just because I didn't want to leave. Legs still sore from the race (calves and hammies especially), but awesome run nonetheless. (K 698.7)

Grass repeats with the team out at Lundstrom park this afternoon. Started with a mile at 5:50, then did 6x400s @ 90sec GP, and 4x400s @ 86sec GP. We were a bit under goal pace on most of the 400's, but the workout felt pretty comfortable. (GT 490.5) (F spike 6.6)

Was feeling frustrated and restless at midnight, so just did a wee-hours run for today. Ran out to the temple, then headed down main for a while and back home with an extension around campus. Was a bit chilly out. Fortunately the run cleared my head and I got home around 2 and went right to sleep. (GT 498)

This morning we ran to the Quad and did what coach called "calisthenics, games and relays" for a long time. It was... fun? Then we ran back to the track and I ran home.  (DS 495)

Had an appointment with doc about some foot pain I've been having and it turns out I have a sesamoid stress fracture (ball of the foot). Two weeks with no weight-bearing at all then we'll see where we go from there.  Woo hoo, life.

Went to the training room and treaded water in a running-type fashion for 80 minutes with the jets at 50% or so. Did a 20 minute "push" in it by increasing the jets to 70%. Not bad, just super boring and lame. My arms are already sore from crutches. Bah!

After a super long and tiring day of crutching my way around campus with super sore pits and hands, I headed over to the training room to do some water jogging! Warmed up with the jets at 56% for twenty minutes, then did 6x3:30 pushes at 82% with 2:30 jog recovery between them. Then I cooled down for ten or so minutes and iced. There was the greatest rain storm today... I wished I could run in it!

Did an hour at 60% jets in the pool this afternoon. Nice and boring. Foot still feels about the same.

More pool jogging! Did a 10 minute warm up, then a 20 minute push and a 10 minute cool down. Fun times, I guess. Heat and ice after. My back and arms and abs are so super sore! Haha, I'm so pathetic.

Pool jogging again, whee! I got bored, so I started doubling numbers (2, then I did 13) and I got past a million twice! 'Twas cool I guess... just a little sad. And strange.

Easy 40 minutes in pool.

Crutched all the way up to the HPER building to swim, only to find that the pool is closed today. So, I called an athletic trainer to go swim in the small pool in the training room. We got there and spent a half hour trying to get it to work, to no avail. And since none of my roommates with a car are here today, I have no way of getting to a different pool in which to swim. So, no workout today. Erg.

Pool stuff. Half hour at 57% jets then half hour at 73% jets for a push section. Brittany chatted with me for the second half so it actually went by reasonably quickly.

Pool for 60 minutes. Whee.

Did a speed workout of sorts in the pool. Warmed up, then did 4x6:00 pushes at various jet speeds w/4:00 active recovery. Around 75-80% on the pushes. Then cooled down for a bit. Total workout time was 60 minutes.

More pool jogging. Jets on 55-57% for an hour. Boredom. Talked to our trainer about talking to Doc tomorrow - he says not until next week since it's still way tender. So super frustrating.

Had to hurry in my pool time today, so I only got in a half hour with a 10 minute push at 30 minute effort.

Went over to the HPER and did 75 minutes of aqua jogging in the pool. I think I did about 50-55 laps. Boring, but not quite as bad as the stationary pool. Plus, it's chlorine isn't quite as nasty smelling as the HydroWorx pool's.

Workout in the Hydroworx pool this afternoon. Warmed up a bit, then did 4x5:00 pushes at 76% jets with 3:00 recovery at 54%, then a 2:00 push at 80% and a cooldown at 54% again. Actually got my heart rate up past 130 today. Going to the doc tomorrow!

Jogged for an hour in the Hydroworx pool. Afterwards, did some strengthening exercises for my left leg so I hopefully don't get quite so lopsided from only using my right for so long.

Talked to Doc Lyons about the foot. He had hoped that  the fracture was minimal enough that a couple weeks without weight bearing would take care of things. But he's pretty sure it's more severe and will behave more like your average broken bone and take ~ 8-12 weeks to heal. LAME! So in another week and a half (4 weeks after the initial injury), I'm going in to get x-rays to see how well it's progressing. Then hopefully I'll get better news. But for now, I've got some NSAIDS to take and more therapy stuff to do and more time walking around on my "silver legs." Ugh.

HydroWorx pool for 55 minutes today. 20 minutes easy, then 15 minutes at 60 minute effort, then 20 minutes easy again.

Afterwards the PT, Lori started my foot on treatments of some corticosteroid (dexamethasone, I think) through a method called iontophoresis. It sends the medication through the skin by the difference in ion concentration or something. I'll be doing treatments on alternating days for a total of 6 treatments, hopefully it'll help me heal faster!
