I'm transferring my remaining running log entries to the blog (July-December 2006). So that's why my name keeps coming up on the 'Most Recent Entries' list, even though it looks like I haven't changed anything.

Oh boy. I hate feeling out of shape. It was only 9 days without running? Blah. Well I don't think a run has ever felt so long in my legs yet seemed so short in my head. It went by so quickly, but after about three miles, I was pretty tired. Warmed up with PVXC and ran the Firestation loop from Washington Elementary with Ashley. After, I went to Summit and did the assigned weight circuit for weeks 1-3 of summer training. Soreness tomorrow is inevitable. (DS 459)

Soreness has happened. Not only from the running and lifting yesterday, but all the installing of light fixtures and bashing through wallboard involved in remodeling the basement. I'm feeling like an old granny, hobbling through the house moaning about my back. Anyway, the run this morning was all right I guess. Just went out to Tamarisk and back for an easy 3 miles. (DS 462)

Went to the gym, ran on the treadmill for a couple miles to warm up, then did the weight circuit and stretches. (DS 464)

Got up and did a little loop starting on the trail and coming back on river road. Felt pretty good, legs still quite sore. (DS 467.7)

Fun race this morning! Went up not expecting any great shakes with my lack of training for the last couple weeks. But I ended up winning and getting a pretty quick time! Took off with some of the slower fast guys and just settled into a nice, fast cruising pace down the canyon. Didn't wear a watch but a volunteer yelled out our first mile splits - 5:42. Average for the race was 5:41, so I think I stayed pretty consistent throughout. As an added bonus I was around 8th overall, including boys. Felt strong and happy the whole race, it was great! My summer freedom is over... Reeder sent out the first email for summer training! Now I can't just goof around and only run 3 miles every day. Shucks. So I got up early and did 48 minutes on the LV loop with a couple extensions. Whee! Legs are feeling pretty sore from Saturday's pounding. 'Twas an average run though. (DS 478.3)

Went out to PVXC again, this time we went out toward the parkway and down on some trail in a canyon place. The high-schoolers were going 4 or 6 and I needed 40 minutes, so I tried to estimate half-way between for 5, but I'm pretty sure I overestimated. So I'll guess 5.25 on the short side of what I think I did. Legs still tired out, but oh well. Then I went to the Summit and did the weight circuit. (DS 483.5)

Out and back on the Madera trail and under the bridge and over toward Washington and back. Still tired and blah. Listened to some Coldplay! Yay! (K 595.2)

Virgin Trails loop from the house this morning. Pretty nice out, felt a bit stiff, but it was an average-good run. Foot was sore for the first couple miles, then it was good. Saw a couple deer on the trail by the river. Cool stuffs. (K 601.5)

Well, definitely didn't do super well today... I was hoping to get in the low-mid 18:00's, but obviously that didn't happen. Started off at a good pace, a little under 90's, but after halfway or so they got up to more like 95's and I didn't really have much motivation to run any faster. So I didn't. Barely got lapped by the top two guys. Annoying. Felt kinda tired out. Already I feel unaccustomed to spikes, the calves are dead. (K 603.5) (M spike 92.8)

Ugh. I'm so exhausted! The last few days I've been staying up way too late (since I got a job at the movie theatre and work 'til all hours) and getting up early to avoid running in the heat has been so hard. But I managed to pull myself out of a blissful slumber to go run this morning. Went out toward AP's place and ran across Kenz and her mom running, so I stuck with them for a mile and had a fun chat! Just did an out and back, wore the Garmin for the first time in ages, so avg. 8:10/mi (or 8:02/mi w/o the 8:58 chatting mile). Glad I got out. (K 610.6)

Took a while to get going this morning, started off so slow and sleepy, but managed to get a bit quicker on the way back (VT out and back). Still, I hope I start getting in shape soon because I hate running slow!! Went back to bed after the run since I work late tonight. (K 616.4)

Yet another slow and sleepy run. Got to bed at 2 and got up at 7, blah. Good thing I have the mid-shift at work today. Negative splits the whole way, but the first few miles were hecka slow! Avg. 8:12/mi. Eeeew. (K 623)

Finally a run that wasn't freakishly slow! Still slow, just not freakish. Did the Virgin Trails loop with a little extension in some inviting shade west of Webb hill. Started a bit late, so it was a bit too warm out for my liking.  Did my 6x15 second pushes at 4.5 w/45 second recovery - didn't feel to shabby, especially compared to the rest of this week's runs. More sleep will probably help me be less dead running. Avg. 7:53/mi. (K 629.7)

Easy run this morning. The cloud cover and breeze made it so nice out, even though I slept in until almost 9! It was great. Just did the LV loop with the end extended through Sherman circle. On the circle at the end, a mini poodle started nipping at my heels, so I gave it a little kick in the head and it stayed away after that. :) About 40 minutes total judging from the wall clock. Ran up Wasatch Blvd for a bit, then ran up Big Cottonwood Canyon and back. Ouch. Fun for a ways, but then it got way steep and killed me. 40 minutes out, then 36 on the way back. So nice and cool up here! (K 652.8)

Was just so exhausted, I decided to sleep in this morning. So, at 11 or so, I got out the door and ran to the Summit (1.8 miles) then did 4.25 miles on the sweatmill, then ran back home. It was nice to mentally break the run up and good to do some of it inside... on the way back I was dying in the heat! 63 minutes. (K 660.6)

Ugh. So slow and tired on the run this morning. Got up a bit late, too, which didn't make matters much better. Just plodded along and managed to finish the minutes without dying. Actually did a bit extra, but only because I ran slower on the loop than I usually do. 54 minutes. (K 667)

So the Kayanos are finally dying, my feet started hurting on the run today. Still, 667 miles is pretty impressive - the most I've ever gotten out of a pair of running shoes (since I started tracking them at least). Went over to the SGRC and grabbed myself a pair of GT-2140s. (Thanks, as always, to Steve!)
