Aqua-jogged in the HPER pool today (HW was being serviced) and did laps for an hour. It was cold in the pool. And it's freaking cold outside. Whee.

Aqua jogged for 40 minutes, then did ionto.

Went to the summit to aqua jog, but they didn't have belts or a deep area to do so. So I just swam for a half hour or so. I'd forgotten how much I hate swimming and that drowning feeling. Blah.

Had fun seeing people at the marathon though! Great job everybody!

50 minutes, acceleration for the last 25 minutes. Good workout for the pool I guess.

13 minute warmup at 55%, then 6x4:00 pushes at 76% with 3:00 recovery. Then 5:00 cooldown. Afterwards, did some left leg exercises in the pool so it doesn't completely atrophy.

45 pool minutes. Then left leg exercises. X-rays tomorrow.

So x-rays... just made life more confusing. There are, apparently, two explanations for what my x-rays looked like (my tibial sesamoid is still in two pieces, and has no evidence of knitting together). First: that particular sesamoid can sometimes just be two-pieced naturally, so if that's the case, some cartilage or tendons must've been causing all the crap. Or, I broke my bone into two pieces and it just is being slow in healing, which is probable due to limited blood flow there. If it is still broken, surgeries are somewhat necessary (either pinning it or removing all or part of it). Since we'd obviously rather the first option, Tuesday (the 13th) I'm getting shoe inserts and will start partial-weight bearing! By Saturday, I should be totally weight-bearing and on Monday (the 20th) I'm going to try running! If it doesn't hurt too much, then I'll be ok to go for the rest of the season!

In the pool I did 9x1:15 pushes with 3:00 breaks. 'Twas great...

Tomorrow is my one month anniversary of being a cripple! Whee! And... I didn't swim today. Just 'cause of stuff and stuff. Words.

5 minute warmup, then 8x1:30 pushes at 30 min effort with 1:00 recovery. 10 minute cooldown. Not bad. Exercises after.

An hour in the pool, still just aqua jogging. Got super bored. BUT! I got my orthotics today and I am now partially weight-bearing! And tomorrow I get to RUN on the water treadmill! No more aqua jogging for me!!!!!

Actually ran on the water treadmill today!! Ran pretty slow for the first 20 minutes, then picked it up for a tempo on the second half.

45 minutes, slow (6.5 mph on water treadmill, with 40% jets). My left side is getting sore from actually using it! Hopefully soon it will be less wimpy...

Went home for fall break, so I just rode the stationary bike for 40 minutes at the Summit today.

Did 40 minutes with 2x10:00 pushes at 30:00 effort. On the water treadmill! Again! Warmed up 10:00, did the pushes with 5:00 break between, then did 5:00 cooldown. 6.5 mph w/45% jets for easy times, 7.5 mph with 55% jets for pushes.

45 minutes on the water treadmill, more weight-bearing today (50% or so). 6.5 mph and 35% jets. Many exercises after.

10 minute warmup, then 6x3:00 pushes at 30 minute effort (55% jets, 8 mph) with 1:30 jog breaks between, 5 minute cooldown. Good workout. Foot feeling sore.

Feeling super crappy, so once we finally got the spikes out of my spikes, I threw them on and ran on the water treadmill for 30 minutes at 7 mph and 45% jets. After, I was feeling pretty down and annoyed at life, so I went on a bike ride up to the Bonneville trail and up to the entrance of Green Canyon, then back home. Very great.

I RAN TODAY! Did 12:00 minutes at 7 mph on the treadmill! My orthotics gave me a blister on my arch, but my foot didn't hurt too much while I ran! Woo hoo! After the test run, I did my actual workout on the pool treadmill: 10:00 @ 7.5 mph w/45% jets (60 minute effort) then 3 minute break and 9x1:30 intervals increasingly faster on 3:00. Cooled down for a bit in the pool after. Got three new blisters on my toes from the steeple spikes I wore in the pool for the workout. Ugh. Then I stubbed my toe on the carpet and tore off half my toe skin, so my feet are pretty trashed at this point.

Ran again! First I did 2 miles on the treadmill, then attempted the poolmill but it hurt my torn open toe lots. So Coby and I just rode bikes for 30:00 (it said I did 11 miles!) then I ran for another 10:00 on the treadmill. During the last 10:00 of running, I tried a 2:00 section just at 6:00/mi pace and it killed me. I feel so out of shape!! Angry face.

After talks with coaches, we officially decided to redshirt this season. Whew. Disappointing in some ways, but mostly a big relief. Since I'm not competing this season, there really isn't any point in doing speed work until Indoor. So, today I just did some cardio. Started off with TWO miles outside on the TRACK! Super great! And it didn't hardly at all! Much better than either treadmill option. Then Coby made me do 35 minutes on the watermill, blah. But tomorrow I get to do weights for the first time in a couple months and hopefully I'll get to run a little more on the track!!

Went to weights, rode bike for 30 minutes, then did elliptical for 15 minutes. Exercises, then a rub out of calves and arches by Coby.

Ran 1.5 miles on the track, then ran another 1.5 miles on it. Not bad on the foot, just my left shin has started being super painful. Ugh. After the runnings, biked for 40 minutes, then did my exercises.

Ran 3 miles in a row! On the grass inside the track, to try to make my shin not hurt so much. Still hurt though. Blah. Foot only hurt a bit  on the last 3 laps. Then 20 minutes of biking. And stuff. Iced my shin and foot afterwards.

Since the shin is being buggy, just biked for an hour today. Read "The Pale Horse" by Agatha Christie and listened to Keane as I did so. Then exercises and home.

This kinda doesn't count as a race today, since I wasn't  supposed to race it, but I did the IWA 5k "Run for your life" this morning. The course was just a couple loops around campus. I think my time was somthing like 18:00, so I'm certain it was short, probably something like 2.6 or 2.7 miles. Oh well. I won and that was fun... but it's not like there was any great competition going on, what with all 30 female contestants (that's a high estimate) jogging the course with me. My shin was pretty sore throughout the race, but my foot felt quite good. Due to my orthotics, I got a nickel-sized blister on each of my arches, unfortunately. Still, 'twas fun to get out and run on the road again!
