Personal:

I retired from the Army after 26 years of service in 2010.  I moved home to Arizona.  My wife and I are empty nesters.  In 2016 I had stents placed in my heart after discovering coronary artery disease.  Since early 2016 I have lost 30 lbs and got in much better shape.  August 2017 I retired again. We served a mission to Mexico from October 2017 until April 2019.

I ahd an exercise stress test today. With an iv in place and heart being monitored, I did 15 minutes on the treadmill. They started me at 1.5 mph and 10% incline and every 3 minutes the effort increased. at 12 minutes I was on 5 mph and 16% incline. I managed that entire 3 minutes and then had 2 minutes of cool down from 15 to 17 minutes.

total running time 35:36.  I warmed up for a mile then ran half mile hard then recovered for 1.5 miles then ran another half mile hard then finished with a half mile recovery. splits 9:00, 3:54, 9:19, 4:39, 4:03, 4:40.

total bike time 32:49. 5 mile split 22:11.

total running time 53:20. Plan was to run around 8:55 for the first 3 miles and then speed up dramatically. I just didn't have it in the legs. I stopped to rest at 4.5 miles and then to get water at 5 miles. Without these 2 rests I wouldn't have managed the last 2 splits. splits 8:55, 8:56, 8:57, 9:09, 8:43, 8:40.
