Was supposed to be an easy 4 but the boys got a little adventurous and we decided to rock climb up some steep hills. It was a pretty rough run for me. I ate it on the way up and then rolled my ankle on the way back down. But it was still a nice run, when we started heading bak :)

Didn't get a chance to do the 7 and the tempo but did the 3 miles with kaelie, Liz and dallen at 8 tonight. Then we sat and talked on the gillespies lawn for a while. It was nice run being back home

ran with liz and kaelie out in the fields. And we ran into Megan and her mom and ran with her for a little bit before our turn around. It was a nice easy run after everything this week

A little harder today. We bumped up the times, even from our fast times last week! Coach said we should be hitting around 4:50 which is what we were hitting last week but we were hitting around 4:35 most of the time. My times were 4:35, 4:40, 4:34, 4:36, 4:37, 4:34. So kinda fast but pretty consistent :). It didn't feel that hard but when I got back my head felt all swimmy and my tummy not so good. And my breathing was pretty hard during it, so when I got home my chest was hurting really bad. I don't really understand, because the workout didn't feel too strenuous. So I dunno, hopefully I will feel fine for afternoon practice. 

 PM: 3 miles. Just me, liz and megan were there today. It felt pretty nice outside too. Then weights and plyos after. These really hurt my knee tho :/

1/1 workout. This was definitely harder than the 30/30 workout. I got 12 reps. Of course I wish I would've hung in there til 15 but at least I hit my goal time and ran pretty well today. Usually I run with kaelie on these but she wasn't there today. So I started out with Josie and Megan but we all kinda got separated by speed and soon were all running alone. So that made it harder but still was able to push myself. Last day of kids club, gonna miss those chillens.

Time trial today. Did harts warm and cool. I was super nervous. I've never raced over a mile. And I only did that once last year. So I didn't know what to expect. I thought I would try to stay with kaelie and push each other but she raced early. So I thought as long as I stay right behind liz, you don't have to be up with her but stay right behind her. So after the first lap I started sketching myself out. I kept thinking "oh my heck I'm already tired I can't do 2 more laps" but I was able to calm myself down and felt a lot better. The last 800 lap I was still right behind liz but once I hit the top of the hill I just wanted to settle. I was feeling yuck and didn't think it would hurt to just come in running. But Alli started to catch up with me and by the bleachers we were pushing each other on. I don't know where the kick came from but thanks to Alli I was able to finish the race strong. I barely beat her getting 3rd out of the girls. I'm not sure what my time was though...14:somethin. Then did striders afterward with Liz and Roberts. I'm pretty happy with today. Really nervous for next week when I have to race 3 miles tho

8 miles with 3 tempo. Man I was trying really hard to keep a positive attitude about this run. It started out really well. I was feeling really calm and really strong. We had a good pace going. But by a 1.5 I was struggling a lot. I fell back a lot from the group and then on the last stretch Mia came and helped me finish strong. Mia is a pretty stellar captain. I don't know why but I really struggle with tempos. I don't have as much a problem with other workouts but tempos really hit my weak spot. My knees have been having lots of trouble lately but not every day. It's weird. But I talked to roberts afterward and I really don't want to use that as an excuse to drop back. So I guess tempo is just something I'm going to have to work on extra hard, mentally and physically. 

PM:couldn't go to afternoon practice cuz I was out in Zions! Hiking with my family :)

So we went to the Little Valley park today to do grass runs. And it was a little bit of a "what the" situation because the field was closed and we weren't supposed to get on the grass, and neither coaches were there to tell us what to do. But we being the smart kids that we are figured it out (we just ran on the grass anyways) and it went by really fast. Then we went and did some hills. 5x1 min, and 3x30 seconds. Pretty hard I'd say. I mean the first little incline was awesome then you turn and your heart weeps a little bit, and your legs. We didn't have many girls today, me, liz, kaelie, alli, and macey grouped together to do the hills. And since mia wasn't there to lead us I was able to lead the girls on the 1 minute hills and then we all packed together pretty well on the 30 seconds. It was a good run to end this hard week. Yay easy 4 tomorrow :)

Harts warm and cool with 6x1000's today. So we finally got a pretty accurate time in what we should be running based on our time trial but it was a lot slower then we had been running. Last week we were running in like the 4:40 range and I was supposed to hit 5:14 today. So my times were not very consistent at all today and it felt kinda harder. Prolly cuz I was trying to get into the new course for the 1000's and figure things out. My times were 4:39, 4:53, 5:03, 5:04, 4:56, 4:53. So yeah all over the place, but it felt alright. My last few felt really good

PM: 3 miles AC. Not many girls there, but it felt pretty nice today. Mia tried to pet a wiener dog but got attacked by an evil chihuahua. And then a guy drove by us and bleeted at us like a goat. Pretty interesting. I had to get home right after so I couldn't stay and do weights and plyos.

5 miles up to green springs with 4x200's afterward. It was a really nice run today. It was a nice pace and really good weather. Kind of really quiet all morning but the run went by pretty fast. Really nervous to race today but kinda excited. My first XC race ever! And the farthest I've raced in my life :O it'll be good to see where I'm at and see where all the hard work this summer has put me.

Race: So...I was so nervous for this. I have been thinking about it ever since the time trial. But as we got to the starting line I calmed my nerves pretty well. Did a little over a 2 mile warm up. We were at the starting line and all of a sudden it started and we were all like "what the!" and there were a lot of girls to get by. We all kind of got stuck in between them. But my goal was to stay up with Kaelie. I wanted to stay with Alli Peterson but she got ahead quite a bit so soon she was too far ahead for me to catch her. But Kaelie would weave in and kept surging so I kept going with her. By the little inclination after the track I was feeling pretty good and calm. My first lap felt pretty good but up behind the buildings by the road was the hardest part for me. I felt like a snail and didn't really want to get my pace up at all. But by the end of the first lap I was in "my spot" and I didn't get passed the rest of the race (except megan at the end) and I was doing pretty good at catching girls. I would get up with them thinking that we could just run together but soon they would fall back as I kept my pace. By the last lap my legs were really tired and then by the time I got to the track Megan passed me and everyone kept telling me to catch her. My brain wasn't motivated to go catch her so I kept close behind her and then had a pretty good finish. So...my first race is over with!! Now that I know how things go next time I will apply our phrase "dare to go" a lot better and not let my head get the best of me at the end.

Didn't have to a double and that was so nice. But it was pretty hot in the afternoon, did 3 miles out to Hot Nails. And then did some striders after that! :)

AM: first morning practice. Had quite a few girls out. Easy 3 to AC, nice run.

PM: I was really negative about this run all day long. I had no positive thoughts toward it whatsoever. But it turned out pretty good. We did 7x30 seconds and 5x1 minute sunrise hills. Not too bad, but a good workout

PM: did the 1/1 workout. Ran by myself again during this. It was a pretty good workout. I got 10 in, I wanted to max out but I didn't get my 9th one by quite a bit and then barely missed my 10th one. Mile warm and cool.

Ah this was an awesome race. I went into it a lot more positive then Tuesday and I wasn't quite as nervous so I started out with a lot more confidence too. The race was a really good course, super flat with a lot of grass and concrete but the grass was really well mowed. I didn't start out very well but slowly moved my way up til I caught this cedar girl and then I just stuck with her for the rest of the race. During the race I would start to feel negative and my body would hurt but just like Roberts said I would just tell my body to shut up and I was able to pick it up again. I found good places to surge this time and I actually listened to my coaches when they would tell me to do something. At the very end I was about 100 meters away from the finish line and I started to sprint but I wasn't catching anybody. I thought that was all I could give but I saw this girl in front of me and thought "I can catch her" and my legs sped up and I beat her. I know this race was a lot easier so that's a big reason why I got a lot faster time in this race and I think it was a little shorter then 3 miles, but I did feel a lot better about this race than cedars. A lot stronger and more confident so even though it's not an accurate PR I still feel really good about how I did this race performance wise

AM: Did the workout this morning. My legs were pretty tired this morning so it required a little more effort. The first two were both 5:07 which is pretty good being my goal time is 5:14 but it didn't push me a lot. So my goal for the last of the reps was to not slow down after I got to the top of the hill, just to keep pushing hard. And my other goal was to focus on pushing my hips forward as I ran, I think I did good on both of these. Focusing on my form gave my legs a little break and pushing up past the hill got me some faster times. 4:56, 4:59, 4:59, 4:56. So good workout, other then all that yucky slushy mud :P

PM: easy 3!! That was so good. I think I'm getting more used to the heat cuz I feel great in the afternoons. It was nice run, just with me, kaelie, Liz and Mia. Weights afterward

AM: really warm easy 3. Didn't do plus cuz ,y knees were hurting lots.

PM: Ooh! It was toasty today. I was gonna go 7 but my knees were just killing me so I went 6 with kaelie. I dunno, my knees kinda hurt last Saturday but then they've been killing the past two days, and it stays constant at school too. So I iced after my run, and then they felt really tight. So maybe it's just something dumb and will hopefully go away as quickly as it came, i will just you know, stretch and ice and..i dunno roll? Mia and I went and got some sponsors, got some sponsors but no money to prove it. Hm!

Did 1/1's this morning so early. We did them around the 800 loop and I really liked them a lot better that way. It seemed to go by a lot faster. My body wasn't feeling in tip top shape but as we got going I was getting as tired as I usually do. By 7 I'm usually super tired but I was feeling like I could get to at least 12. I thought maybe I wasn't recovering enough cones but I counted and I was hitting around 4 1/2 or 5 most of the time. Which is half cuz I was supposed to hit just below 9 cones. Ran by myself and I maxed out at 15 today. My legs were super tired by the last one but it felt good.

PM: easy 4 up to green springs w/ just a couple girls and Roberts. It was pretty hot but we found some water to splash each other with. My knees were not feeling good this afternoon. Not too bad this morning but really bad this afternoon. Didn't do strikers cuz I had to get to a meeting.

Didn't do morning run to see if giving my knees a break would help. And it did! My knees felt a lot better this afternoon. A little weak on the downhills. We went out and did old man hills, 3x800's. Pretty tough actually, they were just long so it got hard to hang in there. My first and second were pretty good. Was able to hold in there with Mia and Liz for most of it. Last one I still pushed it but didn't stay up with Mia or Liz. Pretty good run back then I iced my knees, and did a few weights that wouldn't bother them. I went to dance tho and we did a lot of bending and jumping so now they are back to where they were yesterday :/

AM: it was a nice morning. We were gonna do our 3 miles on the grass but after a mile we were sick of it so we went and did DI loop.

PM: nice run to sandbergs. I didn't get in so I just ran back with kaelie and Taylor. Then did 4x200's. felt really good today. Only a little bit of knee problems.

Well. That was fun :) I woke up late today so I didn't want to keep the bus waiting any longer so the jv kids didn't miss their race or something. So my mom took me and we got lost for about 20 minutes cuz my dumb iPhone took us out into the middle of nowhere! Got there in time to see the girls race tho then warmed up some with the varsity girls. We got all ready to go and then stood at the starting line for like 20 minutes. We did some stride outs to keep warm and stuff tho. We started the race and my legs were feeling really heavy but I figured they would warm up some more if I just pushed through it. I was able to get in a pretty good spot at the beginning and was just working on moving my way up. Megan caught up to me around the second lap so I was just trying to stay right with her. But by the third lap I was feeling really weak. I was trying really hard to stay up there and get my mind to stay positive. I was telling myself it was almost over just to push through right then, and saying lots of prayers in my head. By the time I came around the corner I tried to surge like coach said to, but my legs would not listen to me. They were getting so heavy. I was using all the mind power I could muster to get one foot in front of the other. A lot of girls were passing me and telling me "come on girl you got this" I just kept thinking "I know I'm trying!". I could see the finish line and the wind felt so strong haha. I felt like it was blowing me everywhere I couldn't run in a straight line. Then I just blacked out and collapsed, but I wanted to finish so I tried to get up but fell again. So my awesome teammates Byron and Taylor came and helped me to the finish. Then after like 45-60 minutes it felt like I was able to walk and go watch awards :) I'm trying to figure out what happened. I mean they thought it was what I ate this morning and then from not eating that much but I did the exact thing I did last week and last week I felt awesome! Maybe the altitude had something to do with it. I dunno! Just really weird. So hopefully if I take care of myself good this weekend I can run next week :)

Ha Ha! A whole two miles :) was feeling really crappy this morning so I didn't go to morning practice..or first period. Slowly felt better during the day to where I thought I would give running a try. Just did the warm up tho. It felt like the inside of my tummy was bouncing against my throat when I ran but my head felt ok. But when I stopped running my head would go back to that dizzy, blurry feeling and then would start hurting a lot. My legs are super tight and hurt a lot cuz I didn't get to stretch right after my race. So I've been rolling those a lot. I'm not sure what to do with myself. I'm going to try to go to morning practice but I usually feel the worst in the mornings so we'll see what happens. I dont know if rest is the answer cuz Ive been resting all weekend and still feel the same, or if im just posed to jump back in and let it take care of itself. Can someone just tell me what's wrong with me cuz that would be super helpful.

Decided not to go to morning practice. I think I'll prolly take it easy on the morning runs this week so I can get better but still go to afternoon practice and do the workouts well. Did dog pound tempo today. Felt really good. I stuck with the girls for most of it, just when we started going down the hill I got a little behind. So I tried to speed up to get back up with them but I could tell they were speeding up too so I kept at the same spot and ran with Kaelie. Did striders after, my head was feeling really light headed on those but I finished them up.

Time trial today. Warmed up with the girls and was feeling pretty good. Wasn't sure how this was going to go seeing how I still don't feel 100% yet. So I just figured I would go for it. Did a lap and was feeling pretty good. I could see Liz and Mia and was just trying to keep them in my sight. Second lap I was still not feeling too bad but my head started floating off somewhere, wasn't sure how the third lap was going to go. So coach had me stop after my second lap. I maybe could've been fine on my third lap but better safe then sorry I guess. I want to be able to race this saturday good so I'll just take it easy.

Drove up to AF today and ran on the state course. It felt so long! Prolly cuz I've never done it before so I was just waiting for it to be done. But looking back it seems like a decent course. Ready to race tomorrow!

So got up and got some breakfast. I was really excited to race today, especially since it was only two miles. I was the fourth leg in the relay. We warmed up quite a lot and then had to go wait for our time to race. My race went really well. I was able to stay ahead of desert hills and there was one girl in front of me, I don't remember what school she was from, but starting out she was a ways in front of me. So when Mia kept telling me to pass her I did not think I would be able to. But I kept moving up and soon was thinking, okay yeah I'm going to get her. And I did! Jumping over hay bales was fun, especially at the end they gave me the momentum I needed to push it in. I felt really good about my race. I found out my time and it wasn't really what I wanted it to be and I came in 7th on the team. But it's ok, because I just gotta learn to push a little harder when nobody is around me to push me. That's what makes it hard about a relay, but I still feel really good about it after this whole week :)
