Well I ran 3 miles today and it was perrdy good. I was able to stay up with the girls for most of it. Going up that hill at the end wore me out. But I wasn't too far behind coach and just ran back with Megan.

Second day. Better than the first! I wish I was more in shape than I am but I'm able to keep up with mia and liz for the majority of the time.

Run today was great! :) today I get a gold star I decided.

 I think running club wore me out more than my actual run! Man that missionary tag stuff was intense. Haha Sabrina likes to tell me all she learns about people after running club. This week she told me that "A lot of the boys wear really short shorts. I noticed that today. Some of your friends too! They are really short" ......she's good at this

Got back from camping this morning and went on a run. I was nervous it was gonna be really hot but it wasn't too bad actually it felt pretty nice. I like running by myself cuz then I can go whatever pace I want. But then it's hard because I'm always in a constant battle with myself of stopping to walk or not running that last block to house. But I was able to push past it today and had a good run

Today was really fun :) had a good 1.5 mile warm up then did 6 minutes hard. I feel like I could've gotten better, I am just never good at these kind of tests. I always think too much prolly. Because I don't think I should be up with liz and megan cuz they are in better shape than me so I don't really try to. But then by the end I wasn't as worn out as I prolly should've been. But it's ok, got a 1320 so not too bad :)

Woo dirt mile! That coulda been fun. Jk it wasn't that bad, I actually liked our run today. It started out nice and easy and I was enjoying it. Then coach caught up and sped up the pace that wasn't very considerate (ahem). So I fell behind when we started in on our laps and kept a pretty consistent distance. Then when we finished we all ran back together, it was a good run

Grass run and striders. It felt a lot better this week than it did last week. So...we're getting there! :) Ran back with Savannah, I'm so proud of her. She's only in 8th grade but she comes because she needs a team to help her run. She is still going just one mile and finds herself running by herself most of the time in the back. But she was out there today doing all of her 8 striders after her run while lots of other people were sitting out, and although it took her a while to do them, she finished every one. Goes to show some people are still champions even if they don't finish first.

So we went pretty far today. I was feeling pretty good, it was tough but I was doing pretty good. Til about halfway through the second tempo. Then the inside of my stomach started to move around lots and made me not feel so good. Fell back a lot behind Roberts and the girls but made it up eventually. Then we started running back together. Ha I was about to pee my pants so I stopped to go to the bathroom at my friend Mikaylees house which is on the way back to the school, but nobody really saw me leave so they all thought I had died or somefin. But I love this sport cuz it forces you to push beyond your limits. I wish I would have been able to do that a little more on my second loop but I went a lot farther and harder today than I thought I was going to be able to go. So we'll end on that note and say today was a success

Ran four out in Coral Canyon, very windy and hilly. I felt pretty good til we were on flat ground. That was weird. Just on the turn around when we were running on the dirt I got really tired and my shoulder hurt really bad. But then on the way back it was really good. Got into a good running groove and the hills felt good so it was fun

Did another test today where we ran hard for 15 minutes. My goal was to get at least 2 miles in, and I did it! Got 2 miles and 32 meters. So I'm happy with it. Wasn't too far behind Mia and Liz either. My brain wasn't thinking very clearly because I realized as they came around the trail that I should've gone around again to get in my 4.5 miles so I ended up only going 4 miles today :/ I had rolled my ankle last Friday skateboarding so it's been hurting all weekend and I was worried it was gonna hurt today. It did for the warm up but once I started running in the test it didn't hurt. Cept now it does so I'll ice that up and hopefully it doesn't give me too much trouble the next few weeks.

Well Kaelie put 5 so I guess it's around there. We did 30/30 repeats and it wasn't awful. Definitely hard, I was gonna quit long before 40 but pride came to the rescue and I was able to do all 40. I felt like I was getting a lot slower but I was still hitting my spot or beyond it. Maybe I just finally relaxed. 

Kids club was definitely my favorite today. It was fun to cheer on the little kids but when my littlest brother came around I could see he was walking so I went to help him out. With the older boys and girls I would pick a couple kids to run with and it was fun to help them out. My favorite though was after my couple kids made it to the end I would just circle back and help people across the finish line. Most of them found out they had a lot more in them and gave it a good kick.

Grass run with striders. It was way good! My legs were a little tight from yesterdays workout but they loosened up when we started running. Striders felt awesome. Finally getting more in shape it feels so good :) I got to go dance right after running too, with shaylee. It was such a good morning!! Except my ankle hurts really bad now.

Well that was..way good!! I almost didn't come today but I was able to get myself out of bed and I almost didn't do two loops but I got myself to do that too! That sluggish feeling that coach said that we were gonna feel yesterday, came around today and I was not feeling it this morning. But I worked through it and it went so much better then last week. My second loop felt way better than my first too. I was able to just forget about stuff and focused on just stepping one step at a time. And before I knew it I had caught up to liz, stoner and mia. I was able to push up the hill and the run back was nice and easy. Good day :)

Well today was not so fun or productive. I strained my sprained ankle over the weekend and came to practice to learn that it hurt to run on it. So I ran up to the dirt mile and jogged/ walked back

Took a day off yesterday to rest my ankle and it felt a lot better today. It still hurt tho. I ran the warmup mile and found if I landed on it just the right way it reduced the pain a lot. But I wasn't very good at it. Then I tried a little bit of the workout and was doing good, the grass felt better than the road. But it kinda tired my ankle out so I took a break. Then did two miles of barefoot grass runs, just the warmup loop. And it felt lots better without lots of pressure on it. I'm RICEing it up so hopefully it's recovered by next week

Went to the unorganized organized practice this morning. There were three girls there; me, my sister and Brianna. But it was still good. It felt nice Brianna and I went on a nice run together down to hells hole. Not sure the exact mileage because we went past the 3 mile turn around and down into hells hole but didn't have a watch or anything to count miles. My ankle felt a lot better today, just started hurting a little on the way back and then my shoe started making it uncomfortable I dunno. It still hurts quite a bit after I run but I'll just keep icing it.

Ran over on the trail at tonaquint park. Not lots of people there again today. Ran w/ Liz and coach Roberts til the 4 mile turn around. Wasn't sure if I should go 7 today because of my ankle and my mileage has been weird this week. So I ran halfway back w/ chancie and kinda started getting anxious to get back so I ran the last mile or so by myself. Then chancie and I ran through the sprinklers mmmmm :) But it felt pretty good today so I hope I will be able to be back where I'm supposed to be next week.

AM: went up to the dirt mile and did 3 1000's. My time I'm supposed to get is 5:46 and I got 5:00, 5:08, and 5:10. So a little fast but it felt good. Ankle only hurt a little bit but I wasn't wearing my wrap so not too bad. I really like this workout, prolly won't in about a month but I like it right now. And it's definitely a lot better on the dirt than on the track.

PM: went 3 in this blasted heat. Actually wasn't too bad on the way to arctic circle just on the way back it got 30 degrees hotter I almost died :P But all sports have their ups and downs I guess so in the big picture, death is just a minor setback as to what other sports go through. So I guess I can't complain and just say it was a good run, and then did some nice wet weights after.

I was so tired today, which is always great for workouts. Which was 30/30 workout today, it was pretty tough. Did 25 reps of 110 meters. That recovery stuff really works its magic, of actually making this workout tough. Ran with Kaelie G which is really good because I'm able to push myself to do a lot more with her around and keep me on pace. Did 1 mile warm-up and prolly about 3/4 mile cool down.

AM: 5 miles this morning down into hell's hole. Did 5x10 sec bounders and 5x10 sec hill bursts. It was fun! I liked doing it, I actually like hills if they don't go forever. And we got to work on going speedy and that's my favorite :) Run back was pretty nice, except that dumb road back to the elementary school (past the cemetary) sucks. I don't know why, its not steep or long or anything, I just hate it. But other than that, todays run was really good :)

 PM: 3 miles this afternoon. Oh my goodness it felt so awesome! Why can it not feel like this all the time? Ran with liz, amber, taylor b. and dani. It was a really nice easy run. Then did weights after

Went to the Vernon Worthen park this morning. There were actually people today! We went for a 7 mile run up by dixie rock. It was pretty nice, the weather was great for it and I felt pretty solid today; not too tired or worn out. The hill wasn't too bad, hard enough to put a lot of effort into it but wasn't killer. And then the run back was nice and easy

Went to the sullivan soccer virgin river park (gasp for air) this morning to run with liz, kaelie, megan and mia! Went on a 4 miler up to the dam road. It felt so nice! Good easy run, AND I got all my mileage in this week! I think that's the first time this summer (regrettably) but still! Pretty good week :)

So got back from girls camp. Kinda upset cuz I didn't get to run with the other girls while I was up there. The first mornings they went and I was in charge of making breakfast and then today they came to get me and we had gone on a little hike to do a devotional. So didn't end up running while I was up there. But went on a run tonight with stoner, Liz and Mia. It felt great! We went a little over 4 miles and then to add up a little more mileage I ran home. I wish I would have ran there too but I didn't think of that. But glad to be back and getting back into things.

AM: Did 5x1000's, kinda got tough today. Maybe cuz I didn't run as much last week or maybe it's actually getting tougher. I was pretty consistent today tho. I dunno maybe I should've tried to stay up with Mia and coach but their pace kept changing so I just found my nitch and stuck with it the whole time. My times were 5:03, 5:03, 5:04, 5:08, 5:04. My 4th one the front group slowed down a little at the end so I just stuck with them. But went pretty good I think.

AM: did 30/30 workout today. 24 reps of them with kaelie, josie and maskerem. I didn't realize that means you go for 24 minutes. It makes me feel better about getting to that. This workout seems like it gets harder each week I dunno. It was hard, I think what makes it hard is not knowing when your going to stop its really just you getting yourself to go more then you think you can. Race day at kids club. Ran with a few kids,race day is prolly my favorite I love running with those kiddos

PM: Ran 3 solo at about 3:30 ish. It wasn't too hot but for some reason I kept telling myself it was. Haven't run by myself for a while and will prolly do it again in the morning. But it's kinda nice :) Except I ate like a zillion cookies right before I ran. 85% sure it was not such a good idea. The other 15%....really liked those cookies :)

AM: Holy bajeebers! That was...so fun :) ahhh it was hard. That hill is a killer! I love running up it 9 times :) It's the bast. Those minutes felt so long. But I was able to get right behind mia on most of them. And then the 30 second ones I made a goal for myself each time to get to which made it easier to push myself through each set. Stopped to get a drink of water by the church on the way back and I drank too much so my head felt like it was swimming and my tummy wasn't as happy the rest of the way back. But the actual run back itself felt good :)

Wow I was really tired today. Did 7 miles with about 1.5 miles tempo. Run started out and my legs did not want to move. Prolly for the first 2.5 miles they didn't want to but finally they calmed down and loosened up a bit. Then we started our tempo about 3.5 miles into our run or 4 I dunno. But we took turns leading and I was really wanting to be one of the first but coach made me go like 5th I think. Which was really good because it made me stick in there with the other girls the whole time and then being in front gave me some adrenaline and it felt not as hard to keep the pace. Then when stoner started leading we were speeding up a little and my knee just started hurting! It hasn't hurt since last week before girls camp so hopefully the easy run tomorrow and resting it this weekend will let get back to normal. Then I finished up with Taylor our 7 miles and headed back with her and Roberts. Pretty good run I just wish I could've kept in there the last half a mile or so. But runs like this you learn from, like parkway runs. The first time I did those I died the second half but came back the next week and pushed harder. So now I can learn from this so next time I will push myself even more. AND no afternoon practicetoday! So Yay!!

Liz finally got back!! She's been at disneyland all week so I just went 4 with her. It was a nice easy run with good conversation :)

Good week this week, excited and nervous for camp next week. Will probably shower 17 times this weekend before we go and get all stanky :D

Well we did our 1000's this morning before heading up to camp. We did 6 of them and they were supposed to be a little faster then we've been doing them. Last week I hit around 5:03 every time and we just did 5 but it seemed hard so I was a little worried. But this time my times were 4:40, 4:50, 4:51, 4:54, 4:56, 4:41. So they were a lot faster then last weeks times but it felt way better this week! Maybe because I hadn't run the week before I dunno, but it was a really nice run today.

PM. Got up in the mountains and did 4 miles just down the road. Getting used to the altitude so it was a little harder

AM. 8 miles past the lake and down into the woods. It was a really good run! I was getting worried I wouldn't be able to go on that straight road after we hit the 2 mile mark but then we hit the woods trail and it got a lot better. I felt really good and was able to stay up with Mia and Roberts the whole time even til the end

PM. 3 miles around the lake and then a little swim after. Nice run and the water felt really good afterwards

AM. Today was not my best. My legs were really tight and I didn't get a lot of rest the night before so that hill was killing me. We were all pretty spread out for a while but Liz, kaelie, Megan and I finally grouped up and pushed each other to the 2.5 mile marker. And then the run down was a piece of cake.

PM. Ran down into a canyon after pictures. The way down was super fun! The canyon was really pretty, but the way back up was killer! Holy shnikeys. Did my best to keep up with the girls and was doing well for the majority of it but after a while I fell behind. But me and Josie kept a pretty close distance and helped each other up that last "10th" of a mile.

A little harder today. We bumped up the times, even from our fast times last week! Coach said we should be hitting around 4:50 which is what we were hitting last week but we were hitting around 4:35 most of the time. My times were 4:35, 4:40, 4:34, 4:36, 4:37, 4:34. So kinda fast but pretty consistent :). It didn't feel that hard but when I got back my head felt all swimmy and my tummy not so good. And my breathing was pretty hard during it, so when I got home my chest was hurting really bad. I don't really understand, because the workout didn't feel too strenuous. So I dunno, hopefully I will feel fine for afternoon practice. 

 PM: 3 miles. Just me, liz and megan were there today. It felt pretty nice outside too. Then weights and plyos after. These really hurt my knee tho :/

1/1 workout. This was definitely harder than the 30/30 workout. I got 12 reps. Of course I wish I would've hung in there til 15 but at least I hit my goal time and ran pretty well today. Usually I run with kaelie on these but she wasn't there today. So I started out with Josie and Megan but we all kinda got separated by speed and soon were all running alone. So that made it harder but still was able to push myself. Last day of kids club, gonna miss those chillens.

Time trial today. Did harts warm and cool. I was super nervous. I've never raced over a mile. And I only did that once last year. So I didn't know what to expect. I thought I would try to stay with kaelie and push each other but she raced early. So I thought as long as I stay right behind liz, you don't have to be up with her but stay right behind her. So after the first lap I started sketching myself out. I kept thinking "oh my heck I'm already tired I can't do 2 more laps" but I was able to calm myself down and felt a lot better. The last 800 lap I was still right behind liz but once I hit the top of the hill I just wanted to settle. I was feeling yuck and didn't think it would hurt to just come in running. But Alli started to catch up with me and by the bleachers we were pushing each other on. I don't know where the kick came from but thanks to Alli I was able to finish the race strong. I barely beat her getting 3rd out of the girls. I'm not sure what my time was though...14:somethin. Then did striders afterward with Liz and Roberts. I'm pretty happy with today. Really nervous for next week when I have to race 3 miles tho

8 miles with 3 tempo. Man I was trying really hard to keep a positive attitude about this run. It started out really well. I was feeling really calm and really strong. We had a good pace going. But by a 1.5 I was struggling a lot. I fell back a lot from the group and then on the last stretch Mia came and helped me finish strong. Mia is a pretty stellar captain. I don't know why but I really struggle with tempos. I don't have as much a problem with other workouts but tempos really hit my weak spot. My knees have been having lots of trouble lately but not every day. It's weird. But I talked to roberts afterward and I really don't want to use that as an excuse to drop back. So I guess tempo is just something I'm going to have to work on extra hard, mentally and physically. 

PM:couldn't go to afternoon practice cuz I was out in Zions! Hiking with my family :)

The pain may be an adjustment to the higher mileage. Roll and stretch well. Tempos are tough to learn to do, and you are learning longer runs at the same time. Don't stress... It is making you such a stronger runner.

So we went to the Little Valley park today to do grass runs. And it was a little bit of a "what the" situation because the field was closed and we weren't supposed to get on the grass, and neither coaches were there to tell us what to do. But we being the smart kids that we are figured it out (we just ran on the grass anyways) and it went by really fast. Then we went and did some hills. 5x1 min, and 3x30 seconds. Pretty hard I'd say. I mean the first little incline was awesome then you turn and your heart weeps a little bit, and your legs. We didn't have many girls today, me, liz, kaelie, alli, and macey grouped together to do the hills. And since mia wasn't there to lead us I was able to lead the girls on the 1 minute hills and then we all packed together pretty well on the 30 seconds. It was a good run to end this hard week. Yay easy 4 tomorrow :)

Harts warm and cool with 6x1000's today. So we finally got a pretty accurate time in what we should be running based on our time trial but it was a lot slower then we had been running. Last week we were running in like the 4:40 range and I was supposed to hit 5:14 today. So my times were not very consistent at all today and it felt kinda harder. Prolly cuz I was trying to get into the new course for the 1000's and figure things out. My times were 4:39, 4:53, 5:03, 5:04, 4:56, 4:53. So yeah all over the place, but it felt alright. My last few felt really good

PM: 3 miles AC. Not many girls there, but it felt pretty nice today. Mia tried to pet a wiener dog but got attacked by an evil chihuahua. And then a guy drove by us and bleeted at us like a goat. Pretty interesting. I had to get home right after so I couldn't stay and do weights and plyos.

5 miles up to green springs with 4x200's afterward. It was a really nice run today. It was a nice pace and really good weather. Kind of really quiet all morning but the run went by pretty fast. Really nervous to race today but kinda excited. My first XC race ever! And the farthest I've raced in my life :O it'll be good to see where I'm at and see where all the hard work this summer has put me.

Race: So...I was so nervous for this. I have been thinking about it ever since the time trial. But as we got to the starting line I calmed my nerves pretty well. Did a little over a 2 mile warm up. We were at the starting line and all of a sudden it started and we were all like "what the!" and there were a lot of girls to get by. We all kind of got stuck in between them. But my goal was to stay up with Kaelie. I wanted to stay with Alli Peterson but she got ahead quite a bit so soon she was too far ahead for me to catch her. But Kaelie would weave in and kept surging so I kept going with her. By the little inclination after the track I was feeling pretty good and calm. My first lap felt pretty good but up behind the buildings by the road was the hardest part for me. I felt like a snail and didn't really want to get my pace up at all. But by the end of the first lap I was in "my spot" and I didn't get passed the rest of the race (except megan at the end) and I was doing pretty good at catching girls. I would get up with them thinking that we could just run together but soon they would fall back as I kept my pace. By the last lap my legs were really tired and then by the time I got to the track Megan passed me and everyone kept telling me to catch her. My brain wasn't motivated to go catch her so I kept close behind her and then had a pretty good finish. So...my first race is over with!! Now that I know how things go next time I will apply our phrase "dare to go" a lot better and not let my head get the best of me at the end.

PM: I was really negative about this run all day long. I had no positive thoughts toward it whatsoever. But it turned out pretty good. We did 7x30 seconds and 5x1 minute sunrise hills. Not too bad, but a good workout

Ah this was an awesome race. I went into it a lot more positive then Tuesday and I wasn't quite as nervous so I started out with a lot more confidence too. The race was a really good course, super flat with a lot of grass and concrete but the grass was really well mowed. I didn't start out very well but slowly moved my way up til I caught this cedar girl and then I just stuck with her for the rest of the race. During the race I would start to feel negative and my body would hurt but just like Roberts said I would just tell my body to shut up and I was able to pick it up again. I found good places to surge this time and I actually listened to my coaches when they would tell me to do something. At the very end I was about 100 meters away from the finish line and I started to sprint but I wasn't catching anybody. I thought that was all I could give but I saw this girl in front of me and thought "I can catch her" and my legs sped up and I beat her. I know this race was a lot easier so that's a big reason why I got a lot faster time in this race and I think it was a little shorter then 3 miles, but I did feel a lot better about this race than cedars. A lot stronger and more confident so even though it's not an accurate PR I still feel really good about how I did this race performance wise

AM: Did the workout this morning. My legs were pretty tired this morning so it required a little more effort. The first two were both 5:07 which is pretty good being my goal time is 5:14 but it didn't push me a lot. So my goal for the last of the reps was to not slow down after I got to the top of the hill, just to keep pushing hard. And my other goal was to focus on pushing my hips forward as I ran, I think I did good on both of these. Focusing on my form gave my legs a little break and pushing up past the hill got me some faster times. 4:56, 4:59, 4:59, 4:56. So good workout, other then all that yucky slushy mud :P

PM: easy 3!! That was so good. I think I'm getting more used to the heat cuz I feel great in the afternoons. It was nice run, just with me, kaelie, Liz and Mia. Weights afterward

Did 1/1's this morning so early. We did them around the 800 loop and I really liked them a lot better that way. It seemed to go by a lot faster. My body wasn't feeling in tip top shape but as we got going I was getting as tired as I usually do. By 7 I'm usually super tired but I was feeling like I could get to at least 12. I thought maybe I wasn't recovering enough cones but I counted and I was hitting around 4 1/2 or 5 most of the time. Which is half cuz I was supposed to hit just below 9 cones. Ran by myself and I maxed out at 15 today. My legs were super tired by the last one but it felt good.

PM: easy 4 up to green springs w/ just a couple girls and Roberts. It was pretty hot but we found some water to splash each other with. My knees were not feeling good this afternoon. Not too bad this morning but really bad this afternoon. Didn't do strikers cuz I had to get to a meeting.

Didn't do morning run to see if giving my knees a break would help. And it did! My knees felt a lot better this afternoon. A little weak on the downhills. We went out and did old man hills, 3x800's. Pretty tough actually, they were just long so it got hard to hang in there. My first and second were pretty good. Was able to hold in there with Mia and Liz for most of it. Last one I still pushed it but didn't stay up with Mia or Liz. Pretty good run back then I iced my knees, and did a few weights that wouldn't bother them. I went to dance tho and we did a lot of bending and jumping so now they are back to where they were yesterday :/

Well. That was fun :) I woke up late today so I didn't want to keep the bus waiting any longer so the jv kids didn't miss their race or something. So my mom took me and we got lost for about 20 minutes cuz my dumb iPhone took us out into the middle of nowhere! Got there in time to see the girls race tho then warmed up some with the varsity girls. We got all ready to go and then stood at the starting line for like 20 minutes. We did some stride outs to keep warm and stuff tho. We started the race and my legs were feeling really heavy but I figured they would warm up some more if I just pushed through it. I was able to get in a pretty good spot at the beginning and was just working on moving my way up. Megan caught up to me around the second lap so I was just trying to stay right with her. But by the third lap I was feeling really weak. I was trying really hard to stay up there and get my mind to stay positive. I was telling myself it was almost over just to push through right then, and saying lots of prayers in my head. By the time I came around the corner I tried to surge like coach said to, but my legs would not listen to me. They were getting so heavy. I was using all the mind power I could muster to get one foot in front of the other. A lot of girls were passing me and telling me "come on girl you got this" I just kept thinking "I know I'm trying!". I could see the finish line and the wind felt so strong haha. I felt like it was blowing me everywhere I couldn't run in a straight line. Then I just blacked out and collapsed, but I wanted to finish so I tried to get up but fell again. So my awesome teammates Byron and Taylor came and helped me to the finish. Then after like 45-60 minutes it felt like I was able to walk and go watch awards :) I'm trying to figure out what happened. I mean they thought it was what I ate this morning and then from not eating that much but I did the exact thing I did last week and last week I felt awesome! Maybe the altitude had something to do with it. I dunno! Just really weird. So hopefully if I take care of myself good this weekend I can run next week :)

Ha Ha! A whole two miles :) was feeling really crappy this morning so I didn't go to morning practice..or first period. Slowly felt better during the day to where I thought I would give running a try. Just did the warm up tho. It felt like the inside of my tummy was bouncing against my throat when I ran but my head felt ok. But when I stopped running my head would go back to that dizzy, blurry feeling and then would start hurting a lot. My legs are super tight and hurt a lot cuz I didn't get to stretch right after my race. So I've been rolling those a lot. I'm not sure what to do with myself. I'm going to try to go to morning practice but I usually feel the worst in the mornings so we'll see what happens. I dont know if rest is the answer cuz Ive been resting all weekend and still feel the same, or if im just posed to jump back in and let it take care of itself. Can someone just tell me what's wrong with me cuz that would be super helpful.

Decided not to go to morning practice. I think I'll prolly take it easy on the morning runs this week so I can get better but still go to afternoon practice and do the workouts well. Did dog pound tempo today. Felt really good. I stuck with the girls for most of it, just when we started going down the hill I got a little behind. So I tried to speed up to get back up with them but I could tell they were speeding up too so I kept at the same spot and ran with Kaelie. Did striders after, my head was feeling really light headed on those but I finished them up.

Time trial today. Warmed up with the girls and was feeling pretty good. Wasn't sure how this was going to go seeing how I still don't feel 100% yet. So I just figured I would go for it. Did a lap and was feeling pretty good. I could see Liz and Mia and was just trying to keep them in my sight. Second lap I was still not feeling too bad but my head started floating off somewhere, wasn't sure how the third lap was going to go. So coach had me stop after my second lap. I maybe could've been fine on my third lap but better safe then sorry I guess. I want to be able to race this saturday good so I'll just take it easy.

So got up and got some breakfast. I was really excited to race today, especially since it was only two miles. I was the fourth leg in the relay. We warmed up quite a lot and then had to go wait for our time to race. My race went really well. I was able to stay ahead of desert hills and there was one girl in front of me, I don't remember what school she was from, but starting out she was a ways in front of me. So when Mia kept telling me to pass her I did not think I would be able to. But I kept moving up and soon was thinking, okay yeah I'm going to get her. And I did! Jumping over hay bales was fun, especially at the end they gave me the momentum I needed to push it in. I felt really good about my race. I found out my time and it wasn't really what I wanted it to be and I came in 7th on the team. But it's ok, because I just gotta learn to push a little harder when nobody is around me to push me. That's what makes it hard about a relay, but I still feel really good about it after this whole week :)

My times were 4:45 (way fast) 4:56, 4:56, 4:51, 4:40, 4:41. Or something like that. But I felt really good, got into a good rhythm and was able to progressively have my times get faster

PM: Ran over at the region course. I've never run on it before, and it is not as easy as I would have hoped. But that is good! We had 2x2 mile tempos. The first one felt pretty good. It prolly felt more challenging for me then I would have liked though. My knee really started bugging me so I just jogged around and didn't do the second one. But its not where it's been hurting in weeks prior, its on the side, and it tugs at my knee cap like its pulling it. It just kinda freaked me out cuz it wasn't just tightness. So my sister and my dad have had lots of knee problems with dislocations and stuff like that, so they have exercises I can do to strengthen my legs to keep my knees in place. So I'll start doing those. Hopefully that will help

PM: Early out today, that was fabulous :) and we did 5x1000's today. It was at 91% today and I was not sure what time I should be hitting. Cuz I didn't do the 6 minute test thing a few weeks ago so the only time I had set for me was 5:14 but I've been hitting way faster then that. So I thought I would hit about what I did last week. The first one I got was 4:40 which was 10 seconds faster then I wanted my first one to be. But I thought I would just try to roll with it. And my workout went really well! My fastest time last week was 4:40 and that was one of my slowest times this week. My times were 4:40, 4:44, 4:40, 4:32, 4:30. So pretty solid. It definitely felt harder but it was supposed to seeing that we are at 91% now and I was able to get myself to push harder cuz I would just tell myself we only have 5 so you can do it. My breathing was a little messed up but I'm kinda sick so I dunno. My knee only hurted on my warm and cool so that's good, kinda. Did some weights afterward.

PM: 1/1s today with 1.5 warm with 1 mile cool. Did 12 today. Which is improvement cuz I only did 10 last week. It felt really good today. I ran with Kaelie, Nicole, Maskerem and Lacey. Lacey is doing flipping awesome. She kept up with us the whole time, just stopped a few reps before us. But during the workout I would be a little behind during the 1 minute on but I was hitting my cones good, and then my recoveries were a little faster then the other girls. So it all evened out. Felt good on it today :)

AM: Did my very first Michigan this morning. Was so excited cuz everyone talks about how much they love these things. But I was not sure on pacing so I stuck with Kaelie and Josie the whole time. By the last 800 loop I was getting tired but not as tired as I feel like I should have been. I had a pretty good pace on my 400. I got B standard so that's good. My 400 should've been faster but on my last lap I had to keep myself from throwing up. It didn't feel like my body was exhausted enough to throw up just that my tummy was a little upset. So my 400 I was just trying to keep it in so I didn't throw up on the track. My time was 34:21. I don't know! I know this is my first one so I did pretty good for my first, but I know I could've pushed it a lot more. Especially after seeing the girls do theirs this afternoon it got me really discouraged seeing how fast their times were. But I will try to stay postive and just use this as a tool to help me next time. Ugh! I just wanna...pft..man..hhhhhhh....ugh. Ok, it's ok.

The weather was nice ;)

PM: Easy 3! I love easy 3's. Especially while everyone else is working out. I ran with Liz, Kaelie and Jared to hot nails. And then we did striders and then there were yucky boys in the weight room so Liz and I didn't wanna go in there. But everyone else was taking forever so we just did it :) and it was good

I keep having nightmares about this race ha which is always a good sign. My knee hasnt been bugging me as much when i run. It hurts really bad walking around school, kinda hurt today on the run but not too bad. My mileage dropped significantly low after suu so I've been working it up in 10 mile increments so I don't I injure myself. So I prolly will skip out on morning practice and just do the other two runs tomorrow so I can keep my mileage in the low 40's this week.

Ran on the state course while it was drizzling a little bit. It felt way nice. Was definitely better then last time we ran on it.

Race: Well we're going to try to focus on the positive here. It was a really fun course! Started out crazy though. We missed the varsity race so we ran JV. I was hoping to get in top 10 since we were in jv. There were so many flipping girls! And they really refuse to let you pass. Started working my way around on the switch backs and I felt really good. The hills were pretty tough but the downhills were able to give me enough momentum and energy to get back with it. And all that mud helped go fast downhill so it would cushion your landing. I knew I had a pretty good spot where I was at and the girls ahead of me on our team were Mia and Megan by the 3rd mile. I got up the mother cussa and it was...awesome. I mean that thing is a beast but I felt really strong on it just afterwards I was completely beat. Then after that I landed on a spot wrong my leg twisted and knocked my knee out. I still had maybe 1/4 of a mile left and I did not want to finish. I had to stop and walk a few times and right in front of my teammates that was really embarassing. But I finished, with not a very good place or time which is why I failed to put that in my race report :) So yes. You can see I just have the best of luck this season and it's getting a lot tougher to stay positive but I'm working on it.

I am not sure if I should go on a run today. My knee definitely feels better then yesterday. I mean I can walk on it ok but it still hurts. I'm glad it's the weekend so I can really rest and ice it so I can still run. I do not want to stop running! And I really want to do the time trial next week so I can remind myself that I really can race. I guess we'll just see what the weekend brings.

Workout this morning, nervous about my knee but it was feeling ok so I just went for it. It was a good confidence boost from this weekend. My goal was to hit 4:28 my last one and hit in the 30's the other 3 seeing that was a little faster then last week. My first one I hit 4:44 so I knew I needed to pick it up on the next three. I had a whole strategy going in my head of placement and stuff ;) which actually helped a lot. It was really helpful to push with Alli at the beginning be ause I always start out a little slow. My times were 4:44, 4:32, 4:29, 4:21. So a good workout. Except my knee really killed on the cool down and they didn't have any ice bags so I just kinda rubbed ice over it but didn't do much cuz my knee was hurting so bad all day.

AM: 3 this morning

PM: had a nice inspirational talk by Mrs.Pete but when we ran through the arms thing, it hurt my knee so flippin bad. When we started on our run I wanted to cry it was hurting so bad. So I didn't go 4 I just turned around at hot nails. But I might've been able to go 4 cuz by the time I got back it wasn't huring as bad. So I tried striders and was able to do all 8. My knee still hurt but not as bad.

Time trial today. My knee was hurting more this morning when I woke up so I didn't do a morning run. But it felt ok for the time trial. I forgot my trainers, stupid, so I had to do my warm up by myself in my spikes just around the school. I really wanted to do well today, like really bad and I think I improved a lot from my first time trial. I don't know what my time was (but I would really really...really like to) but I finished 4th out of the girls. Coach told us to stick with the girl in front of us. Alli was a little in front of me and then it was Liz, I wasn't brave enough to get right up with liz but we were not too far behind. I have kind of given myself a place where I should run and have lost a lot of confidence and that 'daring to go' attidtude from my last few races so I didn't think I would be able to stick with Alli. But every time she would pull ahead I would stay with her and finished a little ahead. Nicole was with us for a little bit and then pulled ahead. I should've gone with her. That's my only regret about this race because I know I could've stuck with her. But overall this race really helped me a lot with getting back into race mode and pulled my confidence back up a little. Hopefully I can keep it. Did hill sprints right after and those were good. I liked em :) didn't get in a full cool down cuz I had to go to a meeting.

AM: we got our new record! 8 girls showed up to morning practice today! It was a good run I just still felt sluggish.

PM: was still feeling really tired but I was able to pull out a pretty good workout. Had 3/3's today. I hit 4 reps with just over 7 cones each time. And I was able to stay pretty close to Mia the whole time. It felt good to push myself because I didn't stop til I couldn't hit my distance anymore. The last one I was just a little off. Then we did 4x30 second sprints. Ah I was so dead but I felt pretty strong during them. Really hard workout today it I feel good about how I did today :)

AM: another good group of girls this morning. Easy 3!

Pm: 3x1000's today. Well I was ready to hit these really good today because we only had 3! And all the girls today did so good. My time I was supposed to hit for 95% was 4:55 and then 97% was 4:31. But I had been hitting faster times on those when I had more reps so I just went faster. My times were 4:12, 4:07, 4:02. So I was really happy with this workout, it felt amazing outside and we all just did so good. Except I realized that those times I'm supposed to be hitting are off of my time trial and if I'm hitting a lot faster then them then I need to start applying myself to the races like I am to these workouts cuz apparently I can do a lot better.

Easy 3

Went over to Bloomington and did a workout in the region course before the others raced. We did 4 800's hard paced. The times were 3:21, 3:12, 3:07...4:01? I'm really not sure on that last one. I mean I guess we did our last one on the most hilly part of the course so that could've been something to do with it but I felt like I was going faster. Maybe we really did slow down a lot that last one, which is dumb but the workout was pretty good overall

3 in the afternoon, up to green springs. It was a fun run and it felt delightful today. Did 4x400's afterward, ready to kick butt at nebo tomorrow.

AM: 3 miles

Race: well I finally feel good about a race! I think it counts as a PR. I mean I got faster at Hurricane but everyone said it wasn't a full 3 miles so I will count this one. It was really cold up there! So let's see, I got out preeety well. Probably middle pack and there were so many girls! Throughout the whole race I kept thinking I needed to slow down or I would start to get a little lax but I was able to get out of that and surge forward. The course was nice and fast so that's what helped me on my last mile, plus all my awesome team mates who were cheering like no other. The last little bit I remember Trevor saying we needed to kick in the last field but I did not want to. But these girls ahead of me started kicking so I went with them and was able to finish strong. Improvement needed: I really wish I would've stayed with briana, she wasn't too far ahead of me. I was with her for a while she just got a little ahead and I didn't go with her. So this week at cedar I really need to work on staying with her so we can beat desert hills!

Not sure the mileage, but we ran at the state course and it was pretty nippy. Did a 1.5 warm up and then did four 3/3's. I was able to get faster each time but I think I started out a lot slower then the 3/3's from last week. So I feel like I shoulda been closer to Mia and Liz on these but movin on. Did 5 hill sprints, those felt really good and strong and then we went and did 5 finishing sprints. The first 2 were pretty good and the last 3 I was able to stick with Mia the whole time. So I feel good about this workout, it was hard but good.

am: did 1 mile warm and then did a 2k and a 1k. My times were 8:22 and 4:05. My first one maybe shoulda been a little faster but it was still pretty good. I was hoping for my 2nd one to be closer to 4 even but I got faster so thats good. These were supposed to be faster then we've been hitting them on the 1000 loop but they weren't really. Prolly because they were on the track so I was more focused on going around and around. And on the loop I have finally figured out where to surge and go faster and all the kinks like that. So I wasn't quite sure where to fit those in on the track. But still a good workout nonetheless.

Pm: easy 3 to hot nails. My knee didn't hurt at all last week, I mean a little after the race on my cool down on friday but not really. Then it hurt on the cool down this morning and hurt during all of the afternoon run. I iced it right after so hopefully that helps.

AM: easy 3. Well not super easy, some girls wanted to run with the boys so I tried to keep up for a while but just kinda gave up on that and ran with Josie the rest of the way, at a still faster pace then normal morning runs.

PM: 1 mile warmup then did 4x400's. they were perdy good. My first one was 1:23, then it went 1:25, 1:24, 1:18. So the last 3 were progressive. Did a 1 mile cool then 4 hill sprints and 4x100 fast finishes. It was a good workout. Not too killer but good to work on speed and stuff.

AM: Michigan!! It felt so much better this time! I mean not better, I felt much more tired. But I improved by a 2 minutes! I wanted to be up by Alli but really I'm not too upset, I'm quite satisfied with the turnout. It was really nice having Kaelie and Josie there to push me. Kaelie and I took turns leading throughout the whole thing and Josie would come up behind us and make us go faster. At the end my tummy was feeling queasy again so I wasn't pushing as hard for the 400 but when Josie came up with me I made sure to stick with her. Finished together at about 32:....something. Prolly in the 20's. So yeah good hard workout. 

PM: Tiring easy 3. Just took it real easy. My knees were kinda hurtin and I was really tired. So nice run being the caboose.

Easy 3! Super cold So..I'm getting at it so I can get this out of my system cuz I promised coach Roberts I would not be upset about it all weekend. So got up there, it was super cold. Warmed up about 2.5 miles or so. Got to the starting line, took off my clothes and almost died of frost bite then and there! Ha jk it was just so cold and my hamstrings were pretty tight and kinda sore so when the cold hit them they really tightened up and were tight the whole race. I started out pretty good but I wanted to be up with Alli so I freaked out and tried to catch her. I think this is what set me up for the rest of my race. Cuz my first lap was pretty good but pretty fast. I got up with maskerem and the second lap I was running with Taylor and maskerem. I tried to go with them, my body wouldn't let me. And that kept repeating through the whole race. With Nicole with Brianna and Josie at the end. I didn't quite give up I was trying to surge where I was supposed to but my legs were so tight. I kept telling myself that I would be really disappointed in myself if I didn't pick it up but for some reason it wasn't happening. I finished at 21:04 and its not a bad time. But my goal was to get 3 on the team and go with Alli and I didn't get either of them. And I know people were really expecting me to good things at this race, especially me. And I guess I'm basing too much of my success on how other people did, it's just I know I could've been up there with them. So that's just why I'm really upset about it all. Especially since I've been hitting all my workouts so good this week and last. I just..I dunno there it is.

Woke up at 4:45 and went running on the region course at 5:15 with Liz and Mia. It was really dark, so it made it really hard to do this workout. We did 3 sets of (2 min on 1 min off,1 min on 30 sec off, 30 sec on 30 sec off) our pace gradually got faster by the third one when we were finally a little more comfortable with running in the drk, ha and then Liz tripped. So maybe not our fastest workout but we did it. Then went to help out with the marathon! Cheered on coach and my dad that was fun.

AM: easy 3 running with Josie and Coach

Race: So the point of running this race was to run as a pack. So Nicole and I were leading at the beginning. I was doing really good the first lap. Stayed up in front of the pack. When we were going around the track mia got ahead of me but the rest of the girls were behind me so I thought I was still doing good. But by the time we hit the trail most of our girls had passed me and were up ahead of me. I was trying to catch back up but that's kinda hard when they are running the same pace as you. I hit the hill and maybe not as hard as I should of. All I could remember was how dead I was after the mother cussa and I wanted to be able to run the rest of the race. At the top it was down hill from there so I was able to push down it. I got to the bottom and maskerem caught up to me. We ran together til we turned around the school right before the track and I let her get away. I thought we only had a 100 spring in so I was disappointed when I found out it was 300 meters. The last 100 I was so dead, obviously, and wasn't going to kick but a cedar girl got in front of me and I could hear one right behind me so I sped up and she didn't catch me. I got 7 out of our girls. I felt a lot better about this race then last week in cedar. I actually got 2 seconds faster then I did there and this was a longer and harder course so I felt good about that. But I don't get why all this time and effort I've been putting in these last few weeks haven't paid off these last two races. Why I cant be up where I was a couple weeks ago.

Am: 1 mile warm up the a 1.5 mile tempo. The tempo felt good we were all right in there the whole time. Which I never really do good on tempos but it felt good :) then did 2 master blasters. On that home stretch it was making me cry, the wind and the cold. Pretty tiring but not killer workout. 1 mile cool.

3 with Liz. Felt good to run at 9 I the morning :) I feel ready for region. Roberts lent me a running magazine on Thursday I think and I read a pretty cool article about abbey d'agostino. There were some pretty cool stuff in there and quotes I wrote down and have been thinking about them all weekend. So I'm kinda ready to go race and kick my own butt. I'm not really looking to beat anybody but myself this race because I've been so set on beating people it hasn't had a really positive effect. I just need to kill this mental block in my head.

Easy 3 with 4x200's. First two were pretty strong but not all out but then Roberts asked us before we started the 3rd one what we were thinking. And if we were thinking we were giving everything. And I knew I wasn't cuz I never really want on the 200's but that time I made sure to stay up with Mia the whole time and on the last one. So ended it strong. Not too nervous for tomorrow, but then I am. It will be good I feel. I know we can do this, we've worked so hard for it.

OH MY GASH!! I have not been this happy in a long time! This was not my fastest race and not my best placing but I have never felt so good and so positive then I did in this race. All week I have been trying to figure out how to channel my energy and frustration and how I am supposed to race. So I came into this race really relaxed. My goal wasn't too beat anybody, my goal wasn't a certain time. My goal was to be happy with my race and myself. I usually don't like when people cheer me on and tell me what to do during a race, and I don't ever remember the stuff I tell myself to do before the race-during the race. But my head was so clear today. I just felt so good!! I made sure to start out good but not to zigzag my way through and waste all my energy at the beginning. I was going to trust myself for 2 miles and pull it in on the third, knowing I'd end up where I needed to be. It was so nice running and pushing with Josie the whole time. It helped so much. (And it's really nice when your thinking of working with your teammates instead of against them). So after the hill on the last lap I was hurting really bad, like you do in races, and I just kept saying Yes, no change in strategy. When the hurt comes you push through, and then I passed Mia and was like "what the?!" and was able to bring it in at the last stretch. Stinkin Josie passing me at the very end ;) but I am just so proud of us and we're going to state!!!

Met at 7:30 it was very chilly this morning! We did Harts warm up and then an all out 1000. My time was something like 3:30 give or take I don't remember the exact time. It was a good hard run. It was like 20 seconds faster then last week because it was all out. But I felt we coulda gone faster. I wasn't as dead at the end as I am when I actually race, so felt good about the push but felt I could've pushed it a little more. Then did harts cool. Might be getting sick or maybe it's just allergies, hopefully will clear up this weekend.

Had 4x400's today. Did harts warm up. Mia set our pace for the all of them and I started out at a 1:19 so had to keep that for the next 3. My times were 1:19, 1:18, 1:19, and 1:17. So pretty good. My last one felt a lot faster at the end but I must've been tired ha. Did a cool down and my body was having troubles it was just hurting. I got a stiff neck over the weekend but it was pretty much gone today but I think it messed up my back too cuz that hurt so bad on the cool down. I was gonna get adjusted but just didn't have the time. It will be alright tho. So excited for state! This will be a record for me cuz I'm planning on a good race and I haven't had two of those in a row yet this season. So it will be awesome!

Went for a run in the nippy morning around the mall again. Good calm run. 

Got to the course and went for a warm up. I was feeling pretty good about this race. Got to the starting line and took off our clothes to reveal our super rad uniforms. Had a nice warm up start as someone tripped the first time. Started again and I was slowly moving up. Staying with Nicole and Josie. My goal was to stay with Nicole as long as I could. I passed her up after the hill and was pushing with Josie. I felt so good the first two miles. As I was coming around the pond the second time I wanted to give in, but I didn't! And here's the weird thing is that I didn't have a very good end of the race , I kinda fell apart and I don't know why. But I'm still happy with my performance and effort. Because I stayed positive and I kept pushing. I don't know why my body wasn't responding how I wanted it to. But I didn't give up, even if it looked like I did. I really was pushing my hardest til the end. Just when I reached the grass right before the track my legs decided they were done then, which was a bummer. I guess I didn't pass out like Trevor did at the end of his race so I guess I could've pushed more, something just wasn't clicking.After I was done I felt awful, my head pounded for the next 3 hours or so, making my vision hazy. Maybe I was dehydrated or something but I felt so awful after I got done it was hard for me to do anything. I didn't get any energy til after we stopped at Wendy's. So I must've done something wrong, maybe not enough sleep or water or something and that affected my race at the end? Whatever someday I'll figure my body out and all it's issues, but it might not be till the end of the season XD so obviously not the race I wanted but I'm not agonizing over it

PM: 4x1000's at a hard pace. These were hard! My times were 4:06, 4:08, 4:07, 4:14. The last one was really off because the wind was blowing so bloody hard. Against us. But yeah these were harder today, my chest/lungs were just not feeling very good the whole time, like something was keeping me from breathing right. But my breathing was fine. My left hip was hurting and the ball of my foot was hurting really bad too :/ Weird things! Anyway it was still a good workout.

Did our michigan this morning. Being the positive person that I am...naturally I kept trying to figure out a way to get out of this workout. I had to do stuff for my dads bday after school so I was like great! There we go. But ended up doing it in the morning so there was no escape. (Except slacking but we don't tolerate that nonsense) I got 32:32 I think. I really wanted to get in the 31 range but I saw my time was like 30:57 or something when I got on the track so I knew it wasn't gonna happen unless I ripped out state 400 time. But was still happy with my time. I bet if I would've pushed it more my second to last 800 loop I coulda gotten it. My tummy really does hate these things tho. Every single time it's wanted to up chuck on me. Not like from pushing too hard (even tho that's going on  too (; ) but always just gets queasy in the middle. So I donno that's weird.

Pm: totally slept in this morning darn it. But we had hard 800's after school. The first two I hit were 3:19 and 3:20. I thought that was a pretty good pace but these were supposed to be harder so I wanted to pick it up the last three. The boys would get to the baseball field about the same time as us so my goal was to catch up to Zack and Brian. And it helped a lot. My last times were 3:14, 3:11, 3:10. My last one I wanted under 3:10 so I pushed real hard til like 5 ft from the line I kinda mosied over it. So I coulda done it darn. But it was a good work out.

Well! It's been so eventful!! Went for a solo run, it was so nice I haven't done it for a while. Was gonna go 3 but I was feeling so good I extended it to 5. But on the way home and Wham! I thought he saw me apparently not. He rammed into my hip, ha I broke his headlight. I was just gonna jog home but an undercover cop had seen it and stopped us. A bunch of police guys came and the ambulance. It was loads of fun. I think I'm ok, my moms still taking me to the hospital just in case but I think everything's fine. Just bruised and scratched.

Did mile warm up and 4x400's on the track. My hip was hurting all the time. The doctor said not to do anything that huts it but lots of things hurt it so I just did it anyway. But it started hurting a lot worse during the 400's so I only did 4. My times were 1:38, 1:30, 1:22, 1:20. Started out reeeeally slow but we got better and picked it up. Not my fastest or best 400 workout but it will still good. And then cut my cool down short. 

 

Did 3 in the afternoon with a small group. It was fun but I hurt the whole time so I'm gonna stick to one run til it feels better

It was really nice to have someone pushing me each one. Especially Taylor Boyer on the last one. She caught up to me on the grass and I stayed with her the rest of the way.

Last time trial today. Was really pumped about football finals so kinda was disregarding the trial all day. Coach kept saying to get in race mode but I had to keep telling myself to be in workout mode. Cuz I always do better in my workouts. We packed up really well. I started out a little behind our pack but I was able to work up to them and push with them the rest of the race. After the last hill I was catching my breath a little but then started to kick it in. I wanted to catch Nicole so bad I was almost to her but she started kicking so I didn't catch her. But we all came in really close. We usually only have one girl under 14 but all of us varsity girls got under 14! Super awesome :) this is prolly a minute faster than my time at the beginning of the season

Time trial today. My goal was sub 6, got it! Way excited. My pr from last year was 6:20 so beat that too. This race felt so good. I stuck in the back of the front pack and at the last lap just kicked it in. I dunno it felt so short from all the XC races. I was on the last  lap and was like "whoa I'm almost done. Might as well start going" .  Good race, excited for track

This was a really fun race. Running through ditches and puddles. I felt pretty good about my race. I just felt that I could've gone a lot faster. Because I had a lot of energy by the end and I wasn't dead like I usually am. I just thought I was doing pretty good because I kept moving up, so it was a good fun race. Can't go to footlocker so that concludes my XC season

Went for a 4 this morning by myself before we head up to the frigid north. It was a nice run, I almost biffed it though stepping on a rock and rolled my ankle. I try to stay out of the rocks cuz usually they don't like me very much. But I was able to find the one in the road waiting for me to step on it.  Lucky for me I'm suuuper graceful and I can stay on my feet by running around like a drunk to regain my balance. My ankles a little agitated but  I'll be nice to it today so it will want to be nice to me back and let me run on it :)
