Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

WALK/RUN:  4.57 miles - 50 minutes (1x4min walk to 6 min run) (4x3 min walk to 7 min run).  I am ready to skip and dance down the streets, but I am trying to contain myself.  My ankle feels great - the best it has felt in 9 months.  I am trying to contain my excitement because it has only been a few days, but it is hard!

Today is one of those days where I am really counting my blessing!

PM - BIKE RIDE  8 miles - 33:00  I only had 30 minutes until I needed to be home for family obligations.  It was a beautiful night and I wish I had more time.

I was a sweaty mess this morning.  I went to the gym alittle bit later than usual and saw WAY TO MANY people I know.  I'm kinda of anti-social at the gym (usually because I just roll out of bed and don't look my best and want to hurry and get my workout done).

Came home and got the kids off to school and went back to the gym for a power pump class.  Man-alive, I am uncoordinated and a wimp.  Now, I definitely need a shower.

It was beautiful, cool, breezy night for a ride.  Except for allergies.

I went WAY TO FAST tonight.  I never thought I would say that, but I hope I don't pay for it later on.  I averaged between 8:30-8:45 mm during the run (which still isn't that fast), but compared to the 10 mm I've been doing on the TM......

I ankle is still sore from the abuse of the PT.  More scraping....ouch.

After my run tonight, my oldest daughter (6 years old) want to "go for a run".  So we ran slow up to the mail box and progressively got faster.  I told her to "book it" during the last 100 m.  She did a great job.  If I ever have a kid that wants to run, I'm going to have to hold my emotions in check!

I canned way too many things today. Peaches and a few pears (the rest need to ripen a big more).  Spaghetti sauce...yummy. And apple pie filling and apple butter on Monday (we will have apple fritters for desert).  Plus I have 2 big buckets of green beans to take care of.  The shelves are filling up!

WALK/RUN: 30 minutes, 2.3 miles (I think) 3x3 min walk to 7 min run. Ankle is alittle sore, but I'm not sure if it is from running or the PT.  So I thought I would take it easy.

 10 minute elliptical

Taking the family camping tonight - so excited!
