Today I got up and really didn't want to go running. I kept delaying the run until like 2:30. I went on this run in total knowledge of how hot it was today. I really didn't want to go running today because I just felt really lazy. In the end I am glad I did go on a short little run. I started out running down to Sugarhouse Park, do a lap in the park and run home the same way. On this run I did try to push hard on the uphills though and the downhills. I took the flat areas at a nice tempo pace. When I got home I did my core and my squats, hamstring weights and holding my knee up for a minute thingy because I seem to have a better workout the day after I do the weights for some reason so I changed the day for this week because we have the meets on Wednesday and Friday. Today for cross country we met at the track and did a easy run. We started with a grass lap warm up then stretching. Then the varsity went up around the VA loop down passed guardsman way and into that cemetary. We did a lap in the cemetary and ran back to the track along 1300 east. I startted out with bill but he told us to push so I started out behind voung and worked my way passed him up to jaron, passed jaron and finished the run with chris and dylan. When we got back we did 2 300s. Then I did 4 miles on my own when I got home at a nice easy pace. I did my core when I got home. AM:
We started in the morning before school. Varsity ran down to sugarhouse park, go in the park and do an outside lap in the park. On the way there I was doing a good pace but when I got to the park I didnt want to go in alone so I waited for caden, abigail and anders to come and do the lap with me. Abigail and I broke away from the other 2 on the back along 15th east. We did a slow pace going back but every mile we sped up the pace by like 30 seconds. When I got back to the track I did a little extra to get 6.
PM:
At practice since we have a race tomorrow we did a little speed. We started with a mile warm up then a mile of speed changes that I was really pushing on so abigail wouldnt pass me. So after those I told bill that my shin (the bone) was really hurting and was hurting this morning also. He didnt want me to do the speed on the track because of the punding so I was just supposed to do laps on the football field until everybody was done. I think I did 9 and I got an even 4 for this afternoon which I was pround of because it was really hurting then I iced it a ton. When I got home I had to immediately do homework so I didnt get my core in but I did do my hamstring weights. While doing homework I iced my shin and took ibuprofin. Then I took a 10 minute ice bath for the race tomorrow. Morning: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/110922986 Afternoon: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/110922983 |

Cross Country Pre Region 2011 (3.03 Miles) 00:20:48, Place in age division: 7 | | Today was our Pre-Region race. I started the day with a mile and a half warm up with Voung and Caden. We tried to stay on flat areas as much as we possibly could. Then we lined up for ever because they kept postponing our race so we went and got water. So finally the gun goes off and we start. My goal for today was to get a much better first mile and start than we did at the Settlement Canyon one. So we started and I got a way good start. I was with Voung for almost the entire race. Our first mile was 6:16. I think that was way good and for my goal time that was was fast. So we tried to stay at that pace. He sped up a bit so I let him go. He got away from me on the downhills but I caught back up to him on all of the uphills. When we hit the 2 mile mark I didn't look at my watches time but our pace was 6:55 so I said lets pick up the pace so we did. When we got to going up bessy we were about 100 meters behind Dakota. But when we got to the top of bessy we were with him. All three of us gave up mentally at that point. So we took the downhill as a recovery and then we booked it in. We gave everything we had left. Then when we were done Bev had otter pops for us at the finish line:) Thank you so much and Caden had cookies for us... Thank you so much!!!!!!!! Then I did a slow mile and a half cooldown. | | Am: This morning we had a morning workout. We started with jogging up to sunnyside park and doing a lap in the park and meeting by the white tree. Then we did 6 strides and then a unknown or whatever its called fartlek workout. I ran with Dakota, Voung, and Dylan. Then after we did that for about 2 miles, we saw susannah biking to the U!!!!! Then we jogged around the park and did a lap cooldown. This morning we did 5.5 miles. Here is my Garmin Connect: http://connect.garmin.com/dashboard PM: In the afternoon since Scott and I had to leave early we ran down to Liberty with RJ before everyone else. Then when we got to the park we noticed that we didn't know the workout. So we had to wait for everyone else to get to the park. We then as a team did 6 strides, and again we saw the U team and Susannah!!!! So the workout was a 2 mile tempo run of 2/3s of what you ran yesterday plus 1 minute. So since I didn't want to do the math I just did 21 minutes so 15 minutes for 2 miles. That felt really really really really slow. That is about how fast I usually do my runs at so it didn't feel like a tempo run. Then when we were done I had to get back up to the track so I ran back up to the track. This afternoon we did 6 miles. Here is my Garmin Connect: http://connect.garmin.com/dashboard http://connect.garmin.com/activity/111371223 |

Timpanogos Invite (3 Miles) 00:19:35, Place in age division: 7 | | So today was the Timpanogos Invite. The race isn't like the other ones with a Varsity race and JV. Its freshman/Sophomore and Junior/Senior races and the top 5 from both races scores for your team. So since I was in the Junior race I raced last. So Anders and I did a slow 1.5 mile warm up around the course just looking at it. Then we jogged over to our stuff, got water and put on our spikes. The boys ran to the starting line. At the line we did 2 strides and stretched. Since there was no team next to us all of us got to be on the line. So the gun goes off and I got a fairly decent start. I was right with Dylan for the first 3/4th of a mile. Our first mile time was 5:51, thats what the guy was yelling out but my watch said 6:07. I was like wow thats insane but oh well. So from this point on I just kept pushing my way up and passing people. I tried to pass someone every 1/4th of a mile. So we got to the 2 mile mark and my time was12:47 so I was right on pace to PR. Then tragedy struck. Some kid stopped right in front of me because he got a cramp or something and I asked if he was OK but then I ran into the pole. That brought me back a little bit. When we got to about having a half mile to go I just tried to really push the pace. I would go faster then my legs would get tired because of the squishy squishy squishy grass. So I had to slow down then speed up and this was happening until I saw Bill with about a fourth of a mile to go. From that point on I just progressively kept getting faster. This course was a good course to me because I still am on Varsity and I almost PRd. I am 3 seconds off of my PR. When I was coming down the final stretch I had about 150 meters to go and I gave it all. I started to sprint my head off. Trying to catch this kid in front of me. I didn't catch him but it was close. My final time was 19:35. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!! YOU ALL DID GREAT!!. Then when I got home from the game I did a 1 mile cooldown because I ran a half mile at the game:) Overall surprisingly I liked this course even though it didn't have any hills to catch people on. I passed them on the flat. Here is My Garmin Connect: Warm Up: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/111371225 Race: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/111371230 |

In the late morning I went out 2 miles barefoot:) at a nice easy 7:30 pace. Then I came home and did my hamstring weights, squats, holding my knee up for a minute and then weighted arm swings. Then I went for a half mile cooldown at a 7:30 pace also. I'll go for another 2 miles tonight. I was definately sore from yesterday.. In the afternoon I decided to go and get the rest of my run done. So I went from my house, over one block, down one block. I stayed on that street until Monte Vista Circle. I took 1800 East up passed 1900 East until I was at one mile. Then I turned around and came back the same way. This run was a bit harder for me. My legs started out really tired, they warmed up after about a half mile, then with a half mile to go they became really heavy. It was not a nice run for me even though I went a slower pace than this morning. When I got back to my house I did my core. Then I ate a Otter Pop:) Here is my Garmin Connect: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/111599791
