Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Their moto is "more sports - brighter life", which we think is wonderful, and also deserves a Like. If you want to see a fast marathon in Crocs, go to the video and click the Like button. And make sure to share it with your friends.

Trail prime. Temps sweet - ton's o' Mtn bikers out and about. Didn't see one other trail runner - what a shame... Happy Trails!!

Wow what an awesome course! Great trail and experience for my first Mid Mountain! I'll break down the milage spec's when I'm able to plug in the Garmin.

Brother G and I decided to bust this trail race out. Great temps - the only misleading thing about this race is "it's all downhill". Wahahaaa for the first 20 plus miles it's basically a grinder with .25 to .50 downs thrown in here and there. The last few miles you do get some sweet downhill if your legs can handle it. I felt great throughout the whole run, although my nose was draining the entire time. Allergies are at a max up here - plus they had just cut all the edges of the trail where they could, so breathing and nose were my biggest enemies today. I beleive 300 started and about that finished.

Splits as my Garmin 205 recorded them. First half  8:50, 10:29, 10:16, 9:35, 8:54, 9:40, 9:18, 9:15, 9:58, 9:51, 11:21, 9:51, 9:45 - Felt pretty good on the grinders looking forward to the downhill that kept getting farther and farther away.

Second Half: 10:44, 11:02, 13:06, 11:42, 14:12 (went weaksauce here for some unknown reason - I think this was the jeep trail climb up to the top of one of the peaks) , 12:57, 13:20, 11:00, 8:54, 13:27, 10:04, 9:00

Also - my watch had it at Total Ascent: 4,697 and Descent: 5,748.. These seem iffy but you never know what covering 26 miles does..

Bro G' had an excellent race as usual! I think he hides hoofs under those big shoes of his.

Spin-fest this AM. Legs feel pretty good. No real soreness, so it was good to spin them out. Good Times...

Well.. I couldn't let a whole week pass by without RuNnInG.. I almost did though - until Bro G' told me he just busted out the Pipeline Commando style. So, decided to hit the North Arm for a few. Legs actually felt good. Start to ramp back up next week and decide on the STGM.

Peace..goOOO Cougars. Waahaahaaa

Met Shaner at the Wheeler trail head in the Early crack morn. Did the trusty Wheeler East fork middle fork Ice box loop. Had to use lights until almost to Ice Box. Frost on the trail going up East fork... I guess Fall is in the air. Temps were about perfect though. One Skunk crossing - no spray down - luckily. Great morn.

Thought about running this AM, but decided to head out in Blue Thunder with G'doc and HairDog to watch the xTERRA USA Championships held in my backyard. We floated out next to the swim course and watched the Pro's churn around a half mile loop twice.. Then we carved up Pineview on some SWEET water...

STGM - please don't hurt me...
