Woke up in hotel at 9am.  Read the wonderful results of my friends at the timp half. Jane came in first in 1:20 on a long course. I think they said 1/4 mile.  I left my hotel on my run at 920am and headed north then east past Sunnyside Ave (hogle zoo turn off) on Foothill drive for two more miles (7 out and back) and was sweltering so stopped at gas station for some H2O.  Nice.  Ran back.  8:35 avg pace.  ran 5 strides for 60seconds with four minutes in between.  I was seriously hot!! it was near 90 when I finished.  Plan was to run easy and it was easy.  JUST hot.  Left to camp in Kamas with the family.  Fun!!

two miles in the rain at the track while my daughter was at soccer tryouts.  Then thought about doing the workout I ended up doing on Tuesday.  lasted only two in the pouring rain as I stopped to talk to parents about tryouts too much.  Ran two  400s in 1:36 and 1:37 trying to hit a 6:40 pace ended up with a 6:24-28 pace.    Was going to run 16 and could have if I wasn't distracted.

2 mile warmup easy.    6 x 1 mile repeats at 10k pace (thinking 6:45 best case scenario) with 90 second jog in between (10 min pace).  Ran 6:48, 6:48, 6:44, 6:44, potty water break 3 min at most.  60 second jog and right back at it.  6:39, 6:39.  SWEAT FEST!!!!!  1 mile cool down in 9:04 total time :D.  love the jogging!!

12.5 hour very busy shift in the level 2 nursery.  so tired when i got home but could not fall asleep.  got a race bib from a friend who couldn't run the hobble creek half but the closer it got to race start the more guilty i felt.  i mean the race bible is quite strict.  they really should just charge people 15 dollar change fee.  Doesn't take that much to change a name.  I know I wasn't the only one.  Anyway didn't fall asleep until 1230 then alarm went off at 4:28 am.  I had taken 1/2 a muscle relaxant that makes you sleepy so felt very tired when the alarm went off--tired like drugged tired.  But it was that or not even sleep a wink.  I have been dealing with insomnia for a long time.  My mind just races and races.  Grrrr....so... read tomorrow for details...

Holy flip!! what am I doing????  I felt so drugged from the soma when Kim picked me up.  Kim was like "I slept awesome"   Yay that always makes me feel great.  Wish I didn't struggle so.  It wasn't nerves.  It is just plain old insomnia.  And knowing the alarm is gonna ring at 430am does not help.  So at the start I was so tired my kidneys were in overdrive....I had to pee several times.  Since I had a friend's bib (a guy)...I began to feel more and more guilty as I had read the race bible just yesterday afternoon.  Lots of "better nots" about the race.  So needless to say I was not relaxed at all.  Kim and I were supposed to run together. I had a feeling due to her no speed work this week and her great sleep she was gonna feel pretty good and surpass our goal of easy running it in 1:35 (she ran 1:28:30).  She had invited me Thursday's run to join her and the gang (Jane came in THIRD!! Melanie in FIFTH :D).  Today was not in my plans and I so wanted to bail the moment the alarm went off.    I felt out of body the whole run. Anyone taken soma before??? well it was still in my system and usually stays in me for 24 hours.  The first half of the race I was at 45:08!!!(6.55 miles)  so about 6:48 ap.  Nice work and then mentally I checked out.  I was seriously dead tired so  I walked the hills and through water stations.  At mile 12.3 (hey I was gonna quit at mile 9, then it was 10 and then it was 11...  so to 12.3 was a miracle).  Yup I just jogged over to the side of the road and washed my body in a sprinkler.  Ahhhhh felt so lovely and refreshing.  I took off my bib and ran the rest of the way on the opposite side of the street passing the turn to the finish until my watch read the full half marathon.  1:33:30 most likely if I kept my turtle like speed I was keeping for the last five miles....yup from 8-13 I ran an avg pace of 7:43.   Good thing it felt like a 10:00 pace and not a 6:45.  My friend Jessica passed me at mile 11.4.  She looked strong.  Awake!     Basically no more soma for me 6 hours before I race.  Better to get no sleep then to feel like a graveyard.    All in all this being my first race since St George marathon 2014 i feel a few more races will get me in the groove.  So far this year I have paced four races--Salt lake marathon (3:25), Goldilocks half (1:39), Deseret news marathon (3:45) and the midnight half (1:50--- the hardest of all of them!!humid and too late for my tired brain in 100 degrees).   Made it right under all of the times by one minute except the slc marathon when I bonked and had to rely on my companion to finish on time.  I was ill prepared and really wanted the 3:35 pace gig (I managed to run 3:33:01) and somehow landed at the faster spot.  didn't train well.  Only one 18 miler.  crazy. PLUS-- um my mileage is up to twice what i have been doing. Havent run this many miles in a LONNNNNNGGGGGG time!!

10 miles with Kim and Jane.  I was going to run only 5 easy pace miles while I watched Jane and Kim run speedwork at Manila Pond.  But meeting up with them they were also kind of tired in the legs so they opted out of speed and instead we ran the 10 mile To mouth of AF canyon loop. My oh My...up hill the first 3.75 miles!!!  AP 7:52.  Good times!!

picked up one car at shop then drove to hubby's place of work and exchanged cars and went to drop of said car in af repair shop.  ran to vasa gym...warm up 1.6 miles,no garmin (used course tool).  Warmed up one mile on TM--started at 6.7 mph and went up by o.1 mph every 0.1 miles.  Then when at a mile ran 6 miles at st george marathon pace (not flat course marathon pace, he he).  Reality check here.  Anyway I ran 7:13 x 2, 7:08 x 2 (1 percent through 3.5 miles) then fifth mile at 7:03 and last mile 7:03 until last 0.3 miles when I increased the pace several times until at 9.3 mph I believe (6:27 pace for the last 0.1 miles).  Talked with Jane and Jenny for 20 minutes. Then  ran outside 0.75 miles until my mom picked me up. I was starving so I called for a ride home. Obviously I would have made it since I only had 1.25 miles more to my house.  But I sweated so much it wasn't too wise.  I DID NOT STOP THE ENTIRE SIX MILES AT MARATHON PACE :D. Began taking Mood Sync over a week ago and it seems to be helping my depression.

2 mile warmup 1% incline.  Easy.  8:49-8:27.  Then stretch and water.   Then 0.1 miles easy before 8 x 1000meters at 10k pace (6:31x 6, 6:27 x1, 6:22 x1)- most likely I would be  slower in a 10k but that is so much slower than I used to run 1000 meters HOWEVER this workout calls for ONLY 30 seconds in between sets of jogging---6mph, 10 pace.  First four done in 19:35 including warmup for 0.1 miles (2.86 miles). Got off mill and potty and water (two and 1/2 minute break, necessary for the SOUL).  Next four in 19:35 (2.88miles).  Warmup for 0.1 miles was slower.  I got distracted for a moment because after two I needed more water and when I got back to the mill a guy took my mill under the fan.  Not that the fan was felt much.  I was dripping sweat.  1.26 mile cooldown. Nice and easy. Avg probably 8:40.  Jane was running 2 x 20 minutes with 15 min jog in between. We ended pretty close to each other so that was cool.

2 mile warmup similar to Monday.  Just more increases in second mile to 8:12 pace.  same 1% incline.  Then stretch and water.  Plan 3-2-3  lactate threshold run at half marathon pace (6:48-6:53? on a utah course with actual rest and no sleep medications four hours before the race or intense speed work three days before and a 13 hour out of control busy shift the day before).  Ran first three at 6:53.   Four minute break..talking away with a friend and lost track of time (supposed to be 3 min rest).  Just stood there.  No running.  Then 6:53, 6:49.  First set I talked the entire time.  Then my friend left so I put on my music and ran the two.  It was nice to know I was only doing two in the middle.  Five minute rest.  When I got water my mill was almost taken but instead the lady went right beside me which was nice of her but  sadly she had on wayyyyy too  much hair spray so I had to  go a row back to avoid a headache.  So this took extra time with a potty break in there.  Last three miles-- 6:53, 6:48, 6:48.    1/2 mile cooldown. nice and easy. Fan by treadmills not working and it is super humid out so  I was quite the sweaty mess.  Soaked every area of my clothes.  Is this normal????  or am I just out of shape???  I am 9 pounds heavier then 2011!!!!!!! HELLLLLLL-o!!!! trying to lose weight....hope five comes off before October 3!!

so very fatigued. met up with kim.  her knee killed at one mile so she bailed and ran back home.  bummer.  on my own.  plan for us was to run the murdock half in reverse then turn around at mile 9 for us (we live 1.6 miles from the park it finishes at).  i honestly had and have since i got braces to close my jaw in alignment (teeth are actually straight, good enough) but my jaw won't shut and i have been wearing a TMJ splint for three months.  So.... its this or surgery. and braces won out as it really is an alignment issue.  long story.  anyway it has been three weeks since i got them and i feel major fatigue. hoping i am not allergic to them (i have a copper allergy) but I am going to tough it out and sacrifice running for my jaw. seriously my jaw was in oodles of pain from feb to june when I got splint.  lock jaw with every bite of food.  i couldn't take it.  got a great dr who is helping me tons!! i have had tmj since my early 20s.  just recently completely locking up.  avg pace unknown.  my watched died at mile 7. ran to mile marker 5 of race and turned and ran with 1:45 pacer which just felt hard to me.  seriously i felt so weak.  so i stopped at water stop stood and waited for holly and stephanie.  they kept going.  i started running 30 seconds after they passed.  just jogged for a bit and caught them two miles later.  ran a mile with the winner who ran 44 seconds faster than i did last year--1:33:02 (merri hackett :D).  considering i m 13 years her senior and she is a great runner I feel pretty good about my time last year.  this course is honest !!  EVERY ONE IN UTAH SHOULD RUN IT TO REALLY SEE HOW FIT THEY ARE !  Too many downhill halfs here in good ol' Utah. Love them too but ONCE IN A WHILE go for the difficult!!

2 mile warmup. 1% incline.  8:49 pace then over 0.25 miles I increased pace to 6:53 avg pace to get to the two miles.  Ran 6 x 1 mile repeats at 9.0 mph for first two then 3-5 miles I alternated between 9.0 (6:39 pace) mph and 9.1 mph (6:35 pace) every 1/4 mile.  0 % incline.  Last one done at 9.0 mph to 9.3 mph (6:31).  90 second standing rest in between reps.  HELD to this exactly.  With TM off.  So miles ended up being (TM takes a bit to go from 0 to 9.0mph) 6:44, 6:43, 6:42, 6:40, 6:40 and last one 6:38.    Cooldown mile done in 8:41, 1 % incline.  Then for fun cause I moved by speedy Jane after everyone else left-- I ran  30-35 seconds on/offs at 10.3 mph (5:49 pace).  Basically from TM at zero it would take about 27 seconds to get to 10.3 mph and I would run that until 1 min.  Rest a minute and repeat 7 times (1.12 miles).
