Met the BBK's at Mike and Peggy's house.  I wasn't feeling 100% but I really wanted to get this run in.  I felt okay the first 8 miles.  The next 3 miles were slow and miserable.  I took nyquil sinus the night before.  Not a good idea. Average pace was 9:13.

Met the BBK's at a church on 10200 S. and 3200 W.  It was only 20 degrees but not windy.  I never felt too cold.  Average pace 8:30.  It felt really fast today but it was a great run.  I havn't had a diet Pepsi in 3 weeks, but I think I will need one today.  I'm pooped.

I did have the the diet Pepsi yesterday. I actually hate the taste of diet drinks but it helps me to stay awake at work when I'm really tired.

I like the diet drinks and hate the real stuff, so I guess that is one good thing! I love sugar in everything else, so I have to make up for it somehow. The days that I reach for the diet coke are the days that I am starving, I need all of the carbonation to fill my gut!

Peggy- Thanks for the offer. Jerry and I watched it Friday night. For some reason the DVR didn't record the last 15 minutes so Jerry has to wait til it comes on again to see the end.

I hope you had a good run today. We did change the route a little. We ran most of the actual race course and finished at the O Hardy park.

Julie- It's good to hear from you. I'm not running Ogden this year. I promised my daughter I'd go to her state track meet that is usually that same day. I am planning on running Painter's 1/2, Riverton 1/2, Hobble Creek 1/2 and St George Marathon. What about you? What races are you planning?

Michelle, CJ and I shuttled over to the rodeo grounds where we met up with a large group of BBK runners today.  We ran most of the Riverton 1/2 course just changing it a bit at the end.  It was a nice morning.  There were a few places on the trail with ice and snow.  It was nice comfortable pace.

Met the BBK's at the church on 10200 S. and 40th W.  Jerry came along again.  There was a small amount of snow on the ground.  The weather was great - 30 degrees and no wind.  We kept a pretty good pace considering we run up some big hills.  Average pace 8:54.

Those hills made me VERY tired today. The one up to the round about in DayBreak seemed to last forever. It did me in!

Those hills killed me too. I was so tired yesterday.

We decided not to go out of town this weekend. I think we are going to wait til this summer. I'm still nervous about the retirement thing. I'll feel much better when the new job takes off.

Hopefully Scott and Jerry can both come run with us one of these days. They have a lot in common. They even have the same hair style:)

Today is my 18th wedding anniversary. 

I met Michelle down at Bluffdale end of the trail.  We ran 10 miles together.  The company was great.  Then I ran 3 more miles on my own.  The last 3 miles felt much harder than they should have.  Average pace 9:33.

Eight of us drove down together and stayed a very nice house in St. George.  We ate dinner at the Pizza Factory and then picked up our packets.  I shared a room with Michelle N.(Shimelle).  It was so fun.  We stayed up until 12:30 a.m. talking.

Race morning:  We got up at 7:30, got ready and headed over to the race.  I started with Jody, Cheris, Michelle M., and Dean.  Peggy found us about 1 mile in.  Our plan was to start slow and gradually get faster as we went.  It was great running as a group.  It was a lot like our Boston Marathon.  The miles flew by.   I felt good the whole time.  I drank Gatorade at the first 2 stops and had a GU just before mile 8. 

My splits were 8:50, 8:33, 8:27, 8:27, 8:02, 7:51, 7:51, 7:57, 7:50, 7:36, 7:55, 7:39, 7:52, and a 6:09 pace for the final .1.  Average pace 8:04.

Met the BBK's at the 9800 S. trail.  We warmed up for 4.2 miles.  Average pace 8:59.  Then I ran a 4.5 mile tempo run with Kelli and Jody.  The miles were 8:03, 8:02, 7:41 and 7:28.  Then we cooled down for .80.  Average pace for the last 5.3 was 8:04.

Met the BBK's to run the Riverton 1/2 course.  It was so windy again.  Most likely it will be like that for the race so it's good practice I guess.   Eight of us stayed in a little pack for the first 9 miles.  It helped to block the wind a little.  At the end of the trail, (just under 9 miles) Dean had drinks and donuts for us.  I had a little piece of donut.  It was yummy.  Then I finished the next 3 miles with Becky and Nancy R.  I decided to end it at mile 12 so I could hurry back and get ready for Lisa's husbands funeral.  It was a good run.  Average pace 8:26.

Hi Julie!! I will be running that race and I am a little scared of the headwind I read about in Peggy's last years report and now you reminding me it will most likely go nowhere for the race this year as well. Are they taking out that hill still? Peggy told me they had to close part of the trail so the hill would be gone. I don't know the area so I don't know if it matters so much. I have a friend that lives off of 1300 west so that I thought was nice so I can have some specatators!!

Hi Julie. It's good to hear from you. I'm so glad you're running the Riverton 1/2. The bad thing about living in Riverton is that it is often windy in the mornings.

Yes they are taking out the big hill on Lampton View. Now instead we run up another hill that we ran down last year.

It's not the easiest course, but I like it. It's very well organized. The funeral I went to on Saturday was for one of the organizer's husband. She is a runner and knows what she's doing.

Met the BBK's at RHS.  We warmed up for 4 miles then hit the track.  I wasn't feeling like doing speed work, so I just kept a steady pace.  Then we ran another mile off track.  We did several 30 seconds fast - 30 seconds slow.  Then cooled down for a few minutes.  Average pace 8:42.

5 miles outside after the kids left for school.  I have a hard time running this late.  My blood sugar levels get all messed up.  The first 3 miles where miserable then I was able to get into a rhythm.  Average pace 9:37.

Met the BBK's at Temple hill.  We warmed up for 4.10 miles.  Then we ran a 20 minute tempo run.  We went out 10 and turned around and came back.  I finished the second half exactly where I started, so my splits were right on.  Then we ran 2 more miles up and down lots of hills.  Then we cooled down a bit.  The last 5 miles were 7:29, 7:28, 7:58, 8:15 and 9:00.  Average 8:03.

Met the BBK's at Cheris' house.  We ran the big loop out to Bluffdale and back around.  My splits don't look all that fast, but the backs of my legs feel pretty sore.  My miles were 9:17, 8:58, 8:47, 8:52, 8:35, 8:20, 8:24, 8:15, 8:07, 7:56, 8:10, 8:31, and 8:57. Average pace 8:33.

Hi kelli. Thanks for sticking with me today. It's funny how early in the run I was bragging about how long it's been since I rolled my ankle. Big mistake. It's doing ok. It does hurt a little, but I think it will be fine. You didn't force me into that hole at all. I'm just a klutz. I love running with you. I'm glad you do your speed work on other days so I can keep up with you on BBK days.

Met the BBK's at Bingham.  Warmed for 3 miles with Walter and Kris.  It was fun to hear about Moab 1/2.  Then back to Bingham for the main workout.  Mike had a great interval workout planned for us.  We warmed up for a mile and then started.  The super speedy guys got ahead and so Kelli, Nancy R. and I just kept a semi fast pace just trying to catch up to them.  It was a great run.  Kelli and Nancy were great to run with and the time flew by.  About a quarter mile from the cars I rolled my ankle.  It hurt really bad, but I don't think it will keep me from running at all.   My mile splits were 9:23, 8:37, 8:32, 8:47, 7:55, 8:07, 7:40, 8:09, 7:49, and 8:13.  Average pace 8:20.

I love these hometown races where I can show up 15 minutes before the start. 

I decided to start with Michelle M. and Dean.  Their plan was to start slower and pick it up as they went.  I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with them, but it was it great to run with them as long as I did.

1- 8:09 Planned on running slower, but the pace felt easy.

2- 7:57 Same

3- 7:44

4- 7:50 big hill in this one

5- 7:46  had a gu just before the water stop.  Saw Kelli and Rachael at the stop.

6- 7:32 I watched Michelle and Dean fly down the hill.  No way I could keep up.  I saw Taylor's XC Teammate Michael going up the big trail hill.  He looked strong.  I figured he'd pass me back after the hill.

7- 7:46

8- 7:44 I saw Cheryl and Michelle in this mile cheering us on.  I loved seeing everyone from our group.  It helped a ton.

9- 7:52

10- 8:10 I could feel myself struggling here.  My stomach was really hurting. 

11- 8:29 We were running into the wind.  It really took a lot out of me.

12- 8:09 I got passed back by two girls I had passed a little earlier.  I wish I was more competitive.  I really didn't care that they passed me.  One of them was in my age group too.

13- 7:52 So glad to almost be done.

I wanted a 1:43, so I am happy with my time.  It was a very organized race.  Our group wore blue and salmon colored ribbons in honor of Lisa's husband who passed away 3 weeks ago.

Met the BBKs at the SJ library.  It was very windy, but it was also hot.   I could tell that my legs were still tired from the race on Saturday.  Michelle M. was in charge.  We did some 700s with a short recovery.  Cheris and I ran back to the cars with Lisa instead of doing the last repeat.  Then we could cooled down around the parking lot.  Average pace 8:29.

It did not feel like April today.  It was snowing and windy.  I think it was the worst weather I have run in - in a long time.  Jerry and I met a few of the other crazy BBK's at about 11100 S. and 3200 W.  Only Kelli, Scott, Cheris, Aaron and Walter were with us.  My feet were soaked and it hard to keep my eyes open running North.  Average pace was 9:04, but it felt much harder.

Our group was small today.  We met at Bingham to run Cheryl's SJ 1/2 marathon route.  I ran with Cheris, Lisa and Aaron.  Eric started ahead of us.  We caught up to him in the loop above 4800 W.  Then we found Nancy R.  She ran with us for the last 5 miles.  The weather turned out to be much better than I thought it would be.  It was windy running North.  Luckily we only had a few miles of that.  Good run.  Average pace 8:33.  I took my son to see Clash of The Titans later that day.  It was a good movie.  I did doze off for about 15 minutes of it.  I was pretty tired.

Met the BBK's at Bingham.  I'm tired of the wind.  It was 32 degrees and very windy.  We warmed up for about 4 miles.  Then we kind of broke into groups and did different things.  Cheryl, Cheris, Kris and I did 1, 2 and 3 minute intervals, with easy running in between.  We pushed pretty hard, but we did a good job recovering.  We cooled down with an easy mile at the end.  Average pace 8:33.

I met the BBKs at Riverton park.  I wanted to get Taylor off to her track meet so I missed the warm up the others were doing.  I warmed up for a little over a mile on my own.  Then the group did the Riverton 10k route.  We regrouped and some of us ran down to the trail.  We turned around at the top of the big hill and came back.  Good run.  It was great to have some sunshine.   Average pace 8:26.

Taylor did awesome at the Davis Invitational track meet.  She qualified for state in the 100, 200 and 400.  She took first place in the 400.  That's my girl. :)

Met the BBKs at Riverton High.  We warmed up for about 4 miles.  Then we did some speed changes.  For the speed work, we went over to the street North of the school.  We did a step down ladder.  First we ran a hard 7 minutes, then 6, 5, 4, 3 etc.  all with a recovery after each one.  It was so windy running South.  I think I pushed too hard on the first two runs and the wind took a lot out of me.  I was pooped on the latter ones.  Average pace for the last 6.3 miles was 8:18.

My daughter Taylor did so great at her Regional track meet.  She took 1st in the 100 with a time of 12.11 seconds.  1st in the 400, 2nd in the 200 and her 4x400 team took 1st.  Way to go Riverton.

I met the BBK's at Bingham.  I warmed up for 4 miles.  Then we went over to Bananza. Then we ran 2x400s and 1x800 with a recovery between each one.  We repeated that 3 times I think.  It was a tough workout.  Average pace 8:25.  I didn't keep track of my splits, but each time I looked down, my speed was between a 6:30 and a 6:50.

Met the BBK's at the SJ park.  We ran 3 x 5k's plus a little extra after the first two.  The first one was a 2 mile warm up and a faster mile.  Average pace 8:38.  The next one was a good tempo pace. 3.1 in 22:40 (7:20 avg.).  The third one was slower with a 7:57 pace.  It was a good run considering I have a nasty sinus cold.

Ran up City Creek Canyon with Kelli, Eric, Alan and Michelle M.  This is one of my favorite runs.  I still had the sinus cold and it made it hard to breath the whole way up.  On the way down I felt really out of it.  I was completely out of fuel.  I really could have used some Gatorade or Gu.  I was a little nervous that I would pass out on the way back but I made it.  I talked Kelli's ear off on the way down about what kind of donuts I was going to buy when I got done.  Average pace 8:25.

Jerry and I ran up Corner Canyon.  We thought it would be good training for our Ragnar legs.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  The views from the top were amazing.  At mile 4.6 my right knee started to really bug me.  I turned around and ran back.  I could tell I was really braking on the down hill.  My hips were so sore on Monday.  I liked this run.  I'm sure I will be doing it again.

We were in van 2 and I was runner 9.  Our team had a start time of 12:00.

My first run started at 6:54.  It was hot.  I didn't do too great.  I don't know if it was the heat or what.  3.3 miles. My time was 26:15.  Average pace 7:56. 

 

We got zero sleep.  We did rest for about an hour at the exchange.  We were laying near the Honey Buckets and could the doors slamming the whole time.   Not fun. 

My second run was at 3:12 a.m.  Other than I had a stomach ache the whole time, I really enjoyed this run.  I decided to just run it at a comfortable pace.  I managed to pace quite a few people.  9.6 miles.  Total time 1:23.  Average pace 8:41.

I ran leg 33 of the WBR.  It was tough.  I started at about 1:00 p.m.  The first 1/2 mile isn't bad, but then the climb begins.  I had to walk much sooner than I had hoped.  I ran/walked most of the leg.  The funny thing was I passed a lot of people who were running while I was walking.   I passed 22 people and got passed by 2 guys.  My time was 42.02.  Average pace 11:46.   (9:00, 11:57, 14:43, and 11:07 avg. for the last .6)

I set a new personal record on this course by 1 second.  :)  I wish I had known I was so close to getting below 46:00.  I'm sure I could've made up that time at the 5 mile water stop.  (I took a little too long there getting my drink down).  It was very windy going North.  I hate running in the wind.  Other than feeling like I might throw up for the last 1.5 miles, I felt good.  My ankle didn't bother me at all.   It was fun seeing so many familiar faces.  I passed two ladies in the last 1/4 mile.  The both ended up being in my age group.  I always feel a little guilty about that, but hey it is a race.  Jerry took 2nd in his age group with a time of 41:31, and Taylor was the overall winner in the 2.2 mile run with a time of 15:27.  Next year I'm going to make her do the 10k.  It was fun day.  My splits were 7:26, 7:02, 7:25, 7:32, 7:58, 7:31 and 6:26 for the last .20.

I met the BBKs at Bingham.  We warmed up 3 miles.  Then we went to the track and did one more warm up mile.  Then Peggy had us do a fast 400, 600 and 800 with a 200 recovery after each one.  Then we did a 2 mile tempo on the road.  We came back to the track and did (I think) 3 fast 200s with 200 recoveries after.  Then we cooled down until 10 miles.   Average pace 8:36.

Met the BBKs at Peggy's house and carpooled up to the Avenues.  We started at the park accross from Shriners Hosp.  We ran down 11th avenue and then went up City Creek for a short time.  Then we ran down to Memory Grove.  We ran up the stairs and started the climb back to the cars.  We ran up and over each block, pushing hard on blocks going North.  Then Michelle M., Cheris and I ran until we hit 9 miles.  My knee has been kind of bugging me ever since.

I met Cheris, Michelle M. and Kris to run the Riverton 1/2 marathon course at 5:30.  About a  mile into the run, we had a car that passed us, flipped around and headed straight for us.  It was crazy.   We had to jump onto the sidewalk to get out of the way.  We all felt like they were really trying to hit us. 

Anyway, we ran the first 7 miles slow.  Then we tried to pick it up for the last 6.5.  Our final mile was a 7:10.  Overall average pace 8:32.

We started at Dimple Dell and ran South to 12300 and up to Wasatch Blvd.  We ran out 8.5 and back.  The first half just flew by.  I felt tired the last few miles, but it was good.  My stomach really started to hurt when I finished.  It was upset most of the day.  I may have let myself get dehydrated.  I carried 2 gatorades and 2 waters, but didn't drink much of the 2nd water.  I also had a gu at mile six.  Average pace 8:51.

based on your Tempo run later this week your miles are faster than your 800s. Most likely due to the fulltime job and lack of sleep. I feel your "pain". Just call this run sleep deprivation and not what you can actually due. Race day is more important!! You are doing great. I love your tempo!!!

as a "bandit" I will race it. hopefully...for some reason I have plantar fascitis, never had it before and it won't calm down, so another distraction for my brain during the race...I tend to do fine with them so I am hoping and keeping fingers crossed. So this year I will get sleep but have an injury...which is better,,,, time will tell : D

You are funny, you were not slow after I left!!! You said you were gonna go slower not FASTER!!!! GREAT JOB! I like running with you, I just did not want to be the third wheel with you and Jerry (or leave Scott all alone!) You are my favorite person at running group to run with---you are my speed, you talk to me, and you are cute. ;o)

Here is the best part: I sprinted to catch up with Scott, then after a few minutes he all of the sudden slowed down. So, the rest of my run became about kicking his behind. But it was too fast for a tempo for sure!!! I just wanted to beat him for a change so I took advantage of his weak moment.

I wasn't nervous at all going into this race.  I sleep great until about 3:20.  I got ready and met Michelle N, Michelle M, Cheris and Debbie at Cheris' house at 4:00. 

The race started late again.  I guess they said they can't get enough people on the 5:00 busses and it throws everything off. 

I lined up with Cheris.  I knew I would never be able to stay with her, but I ran the first 1 1/2 miles with her.  From there on, I was on my own.  I had gu at miles 3 and 10. 

I really wanted to come in under 1:35.  I feel I pushed as hard as I could.  This was my test for what to shoot for at St. George. 

After I finished, I got my shirt and a drink and I walked backwards on the course until I found my sister in law.  I was able to run the last mile with her.  That was really fun.  One of these days I would love to pace her for a whole race. 

My splits on my garmin were way off from the mile markers on the course.  Here they are anyway.  6:50, 6:58, 7:08, 7:00, 7:07, 7:12, 7:28, 7:18, 7:29, 7:41, 7:44, 7:55, and 7:26.  I had the distance at 12.97 so I don't know how accurate these are.

Hi Julie!! great run!! glad to see you again. glad you had an enjoyable run. The course is short by a margin-- 12.9 if all corners taken off. Hawk told Kim that if you ran the race in the middle of the road the entire race then it would be 13.1. It is certified too. Odd. No worries. Your pace was great!!!

Met some of the BBKs at the trail on 7800 S.  We ran 2 easy miles, then a 5 mile tempo, 1 easy mile, a 6 mile tempo, and then 1 easy cool down mile.  I ran the tempo miles with Cheris and Kevin.  It was a good run.  We were hoping for around 7:35 pace, but we were just a little over that. The splits from the first 5 were 7:45, 7:47, 7:46, 7:25 and 7:37.  The next tempo miles were 7:28, 7:54, 7:54, 7:49, 7:54 and 7:36.

We met at the park by Lifetime and shuttled up to the top of Glenmore. Then we ran down and circled the park until we hit 9 miles. 9:02, 8:14, 8:31, 8:11, 7:55, 8:10, 7:46, 7:57, and 8:25. The pace felt pretty easy. It was mostly downhill. Average 8:16.

I had to be done early for football this morning.  I parked at the Treehouse and ran the 2.5 miles to Dimple Dell.  I got there just as the others were starting.  We did our usual Wasatch Blvd run.  I felt it was a great run.  I ran the hills a little slower, but I didn't have to a walk up them at all.   The last 10 miles were almost all under an 8:00 mile.  Average pace 8:35.  Then I jumped in my car and drove to Bountiful.  Luckily, I didn't feel stiff.  I

I met the BBKs at Bingham.  After the warm up (9:07 pace), we went to the track to do 8x800's with a recovery lap after each one.  I should've gone with the group that just kept running on the roads.  I had no energy today.  My average pace for the last 5.5 miles was a 7:50 pace.  Not a bad pace for me, but I just felt beat.  It's a good thing I'm starting to taper.

We shuttled up to Glenmoor again.  We started at the park and warmed up for .5 miles to the top.  Then we turned around and ran down 9800 S. until we got to the trail and ran South to 11400.  My splits were 7:41, 7:28, 7:22, 7:09, 7:08, 7:12, 7:31, 8:02, and 8:44.  We had to stop at several stop lights.  That made it hard to get going again each time.   Average pace 7:35.

Today we met at my house for the Saturday run.  We ran down to the trail all the way to 14400 S. and back onto 1300 W.  Most of the miles were easy.   My splits were 9:30,  8:58, 8:54, 9:02, 8:29, 8:15, 8:38, 7:42, 7:41, 7:30, 8:10 and 8:38.  Avg. pace 8:28.

I  met the BBKs at Bingham.  2 1/2 miles into the run I fell.  We were on 2200 W. and I rolled my left ankle and fell hard.  I walked with Jerry for a few minutes then I finished the workout.  My whole body was sore.  It's the same ankle that I rolled at Wasatch Back.  I hope it doesn't give me problems at St. George.  Average pace 8:59.
