"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

When it is 70+ degrees, it's hard not to slog. I'm curious about the "sometime" to which you refer. Is there a race you are contemplating? Don't be coy, share your secrets...

thanks Kam - yeah the heat can be a real bully sometimes.

no races contemplated this year. i'm hoping i can just get back to consistent 50-60 miles weeks by the end of the year and maybe make a push for some pr's in 2015. after letting my fitness drop over the last year, i've discovered that my age now has a very tangible effect on my body's ability to adapt. ie; it's taking A LOT longer to build up a mileage base this go around.

what about you - any races? i admire your ability to get the runs in at all hours of the day and night.

a 50-60 mpw base would definitely position you do demolish your prs.

I'm definitely going to run the fruit heights 5k on the first saturday in August.

I'm contemplating Big Cottonwood Marathon, but nervous about a repeat performance of UVM. Again, the training isn't quite there. Pending solid long runs these next two weeks, who knows? Maybe I'll toe that line. Otherwise, I'm helping my wife get ready for SGM.
