"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

a full week with no run. i feel awesome!

so this break has given me a new perspective about this running blog. in the back of my mind are little creeping doubts about getting back to the mileage in a couple of weeks. will i have the motivation? do i even want to keep running consistently this year, and keep trying to incrementally bring down my race times etc? checking in on other runners everyday here on the blog and reading about their workouts and experiences is so motivating! right now my mind and body are in hibernation mode, but i can feel the excitement percolating in the back of my "being". and that's in large part because i'm able to stay in touch with the spirit of this crazy sport through Fast Running Blog.

so, you know, thanks fellow bloggers.

Do you live in the Farmington area? If you do, come join us freaks that go out in the cold a couple times a week up ridiculous places like Farmington canyon.

hey MVH - i do live in farmington, and i've enjoyed reading of your guy's exploits throughout the summer and winter. i'll try and join up with you sometime before spring, i need to break out of my road rut! still looking forward to running to francis peak perhaps this summer.

allie - FRB. it's what fun is...

Alright, when the road is clear let's go up to Francis. It's gonna be a while.

Probably July before all this snow melts up there...Keep drinking the Kook-aid, JD. There's only a little bit of cyanide in it, you know.

It's so true. I wonder if I would have quit over the years if it hadn't been for the guilty conscience this blog gives me. Knowing other people know whether I'm running or not. It's super annoying but mostly awesome.

Glad you are enjoying your rest!

Be careful of MVH. He requires tights for all of his running partners for a reason.

From JD on Thu, Jan 17, 2013 at 12:16:57 from 70.96.78.188

there's a lot of snow this year for sure. luckily MVH is packing it down for the rest of us!

Lysa - i experience no guilt whatsoever.

Scott - i'll go pantless before i wear the tights. that's just how i roll.

I wouldn't feel guilty if I were you either. You've kicked some serious arse.
