| | AM - 5 AM2 - 7(3-mile pickup in 16:48, half-mile jog, 1.5-mile pickup in 7:58) PM - 7. Only about 3 hours after that workout and legs felt much better than they had any means to. PM2 - 4. Legs felt like I expected them to the previous run |
| | 5 x 5 throughout the day. Legs finally came around on run #5, lol |
| | PM - 3 x 5. Not that happy ending the week with a low mileage day(lol) but I didn't have any of my AM free PM4 - another 5. Much later than I've ran in a long while but at least ending the week with a 20-mile PM is a better tag than 15-mile day. Cold! |
| | 5/5/8. Horrid weather all day 5 after work |
| | 7 x 5 miles in just under 13 hours from mile 1 to 35. First 7-run day, can't imagine doing it again any time soon lol. Right? |
| | 28 on the day puts me up to 2170 miles over the last 14 weeks for an even 155-mile average per week. A solid base built, and it'd be even better if I weren't stricken with COVID about a week before the aforementioned timeframe, but I digress. Possible snowstorms hitting soon so don't expect me to keep that average up for another week |
| | Did I enjoy a day off? Absolutely not. Too cold to run though |
| | 22 including 5 @ 6:03 pace right before work and 3 @ 6:07 pace right after |
| | AM - 5 easy. Something in my shoulder/back felt stiff AM2 - 5 easy again. Back felt better and picked up the pace by the end PM - 5 @ 5:46 pace, with a mile easy and stretching beforehand. Avg pace wasn't too fast but negative split it a little too hard which left me short of breath for most of the day PM2 - 5 PM3 - 4 @ 6:07 pace |
| | AM1 - 5 easy AM2 - 5 a bit quicker, but no watch. PM - 5 @ 5:52 pace. Mile easy beforehand and stretching PM2 - 5. Faster than the first untimed run, slower than the second PM3 - 4 @ 6:03 pace |
| |
| | AM - 5. Ran as soon as I got out of bed, was starving AM2 - 5 PM - 5. Definitely a few 5-minute splits between the two runs PM2 - 5. mostly easy PM3 - 5 @ 5:56 pace. Felt pretty comfortable, definitely the easiest treadmill pace run this week. I swear I'll buy a watch charger soon |
| | 5 x 5. Slept terribly and felt tired for probably all but like 2 miles throughout the day. Probably did overdo it a touch tues-thur but I'll just get a better night's rest tonight and hope that does the trick. I'll sleep better thinking it will |
| | Including 4 at 5:33 pace and 4 at 6:03 pace |
| | 5 x 5. Got all of it done between about 8:30am and 4pm Joked to my friend if I run 26 tomorrow for 666 miles on the month the devil will appear to me that night and offer some sort of running-centric deal for my soul |
| | 3 x 5 in the AM. Another 5 in the afternoon PM2 - 2 x mile, 2 x half-mile in 5:13, 5:05, 2:28, 2:28. Half-distance jog recovery Got about 300m into the second one and had to hop off because one of my nails was cutting into my toe with the small box on the shoe. Went to my car and trimmed it by hand then went back to start the repeat again. So a little extra rest after the first mile 6! 6! 6! The number of the beast! |
| | 5 x 5 including one untimed but fast, one with a timed mile(likely over-measured) in 5:16, and the final fiver at 5:49 pace on the treadmill |
| | AM - 5 easy AM2 - 5 @ "6:18" pace. Used the Strava app and a bad phone signal definitely resulted in the course getting under-measured, so actually a tad faster PM - 5 with a mile pickup in 5:21 PM2 - 5 easy PM3 - 4 @ 5:56 pace |
| | 5 x 5 Mixed it up and ran 5 later that night |
| | Had some peroneal tendonitis flare up at work last night, kept on my toes running in short spurts and think that helped get through it without sacrificing too many miles |
| | Compensating for yesterday |
| | Was pretty concerned with how bad my ankle felt Sunday night that my 100-mile week streak would come to an end but luckily didn't hold me back for more than a day or so. Nothing else to show for it really, this makes it 21 weeks on the sunday-saturday schedule(averaged more like 150 miles a week over that span but regardless). Hope I don't find reason to end the streak any time soon! |
| | 3 x 5 plus 10 x quarter-mile repeats in 73" average. Picked a terrible path to do it on(much too many loose gravel/rocks) and put me on the pain train pretty fast but yeah |
| | 5, 5, 5, 5, 4 Run #2 I tracked on the Strava app through my phone and terrible service in the country resulted in me getting measurements I found faulty. Despite that the pace was still near 5-minutes per mile as I intended with 400m or so to go, then next thing I know my face is about 18 inches from the asphalt Thank God I was wearing a long sleeve shirt despite it being a warm morning, considering how bashed and bruised my elbows were. Happened so fast but think I got my arms under me in time and landed on my right hip and outer knee as I skidded to a stop. Nasty spill, typing this days later and still can't sleep on my right side as I've done 99.9% of my life. Would have been nice to have been jogging for that! And because I'm mentally ill I ran another 3 times after that |
| | 5, 8, 5, 5 Don't let the mileage fool you I was still very much hurting from that fall |
| | 3 x 5. Wanted to do a 2nd 5 after work but had some mild peroneal tendonitis I didn't wanna worsen |
| | 4 x 5 to round out the week at 130. Saw a falling star on #4 |
| | 5, 5, 5, 5. Think one of them was relatively quick but still untimed |
| | 5 x 5. Was pretty over it by like mile 18 but got em in |
| | 3 x 5
cold and windy. think 15 miles is my ceiling of daily mileage low enough where I get in my head and guilt myself over not doing more. at least I have work to partly blame but that's still ridiculous
| | 5, 7, 5 Big week of mileage on the docket, I think. Legs felt a little more beat up than I'd like on an easy day |
| | AM - 8 First of many this week AM2 - 8 again 16 before 4am lol PM - 5 before work PM2 - 9 Gonna call my shot extremely early and say I'm beating my weekly mileage record if it doesn't rain too much through Saturday |
| | AM - 5 AM2 - 8 Most mentally aggravating run in years, all thanks to a truly absurd amount of bugs flying at me. Don't know what they're called but they got long legs are thinner than a toothpick and are total pricks. Sounds familiar AM3 - 8 Only took about an hour recovery between those 2 PM - 7. Hot PM2 - 7 PM3 - 5 Felt significantly better on this run than the other two PM ones |
| |
| | AM - 7 Soaked and starving AM2 - 8 PM - 8 Only took about an hour of recovery between 8s again PM2 - 7 PM3 - 5 PM4 - 5 Absolute crawl. Weather and work make for less running opportunities the rest of the week but most definitely squeezed every mile possible out of the last 2 days |
| | AM - 7 AM2 - 10 PM - 8 Felt good, too good. Thought this was my pre-work run but turns out I don't have to go in today. Don't think I've strung together 3 straight 40+ days before, that should change tonight PM2 - 8 Noticably tanner than I was this morning PM3 - 6 Think I averaged less than 90 minutes recovery following the 3 prior runs. So obviously I felt awesome on this PM4 - 6 I've displayed plenty of insane intent through running but 18 runs for 125 miles in just under 64 hours is on an entirely different level. Just as hard mentally as it was physically. And I did it for nothing but fun! Lock me up! |
| |
| | AM - 8 AM2 - 13 Low-ish mileage day, got most of it done before the rain set in PM - 6 right before work Didn't intend to run again but wasn't raining much so got in the post-work mileage earlier Was willing to call my shot on day 1 of the week of it being a big one and after a lot of thinking the last day or so on how much I can realistically hit I'll double down and say if I don't hit 250 through Saturday it'll haunt me for a long while to come(I don't expect another attempt like this any time soon) Just wish it wasn't broadcasted for heavy rain tomorrow, but I've made it this far. With a lot of 9 minute miles but who cares |
| | AM - 8 Step by step, mile by mile... AM2 - 10 Really wish I'd bought new shoes before or at some point during the week; don't think I have a pair of pegs with less than 1200 miles on their tread. I'd have been running in my worn-down waterproof pegs today regardless though PM - 8 PM2 - 8 Legs are coming back around... No idea how but had some decent turnover the last few miles PM3 - 7 Felt sicker than a dog for most of it. Maybe because I took a short recovery time after the last run and the coffee didn't have time to settle, but considering it only popped up after my neighbor forced me into a handshake introduction with her grandson, I have my own theories Anyway after like 5 bit the bullet and forced the issue but even then still felt pretty bad up until right now. Guess that's it for the day |
| | AM - 6 Cold windy and dark. Felt pretty sick by the end too, it passed quickly though AM2 - 6 right before work AM3 - 9 right after work NHL tangent: very excited to see Jake Guentzel on a line with Aho and Svech(would have been way cooler if it were Elias Petterson but alas). Just don't know if the canes' goaltending won't wilt in the playoffs even if Freddie Andersen became a franchise legend last postseason I will be telling my grandkids(or random kids) about how good Frederik Andersen played in a conference finals series our hurricane got swept in and how it was the most entertaining sweep in sports history PM - 6 And that's 250 miles in under a week folks. Legs feel fine, have been needing to take a leak somewhat alarmingly often the last couple days but that aside body held up fine for it. Really wasn't keeping on top of my nutrition, didn't take any supplements and spent maybe 5 minutes total all week stretching. It was all off 13 years of distance running strengthening my legs and willpower baby About 10 minutes of easy jogging that night that I'm not counting. Only out there to slightly work up the appetite |
| |
| | PM - 6 PM2 - 7 Working nights for a bit, gonna make getting mileage a little harder. Maybe |
| | AM - 6 Would have been a pretty good immediate post-work run had I not taken a sip of the pre-work energy drink I left in my car right before the run and immediately gotten the hiccups AM2 - 6 Very tired. Think I figured out how to work running around the night shift/new sleep schedule, unfortunately it's storming hard the rest of the day so won't get to do it in full today. No amount of rain will stop me from getting in my runs, but tornado warnings and large hail probably will PM - 6 Meteorologist must be latin for massive liar because I went to bed with the forecast saying it'd start raining hard by 10am and by this 5pm run it still hadn't started raining yet |
| | AM - 5 AM2 - 6 PM - 6 PM2 - 6 Switching to nights also switched me to normal weekends; gonna enjoy it after I'm off in the morning |
| | AM - 5 iaw(immediately after work) In dire need of some maxing and chillaxing. Hard to do with a timer in your head that goes off after 2 hours of free time saying you need to run right now or you'll die Really hoped that huge week would put a halt on it, but that was just wishful thinking AM2 - 6 Something about these second post-work AM runs. Hints of delirium PM - 5 on the treadmill First half mile at just under 10mph but my calf felt a little strained(hadn't stretched or ran since I woke up so not surprising, hopped off and stretched and ran the rest at 8mph watching the end of iron man Remember seeing it in theaters as a 9 or 10 year old(good time but was no spiderman 3). Crazy to think of how far superhero movies have come in the zytgeist looking back from that moment as the turning point |
| | PM - 3, 3 X 6 Uneventful but felt pretty good |
| | AM - 5 raw(right after work) AM2 - 6 decently quick Way too cold, hit me on the first run it would probably be my last run in below freezing for the next 7-8 months but that didn't make me cherish the experience any more. Did see three separate shooting stars during that 5 though PM - 6 Gave myself an hour or two after waking up to eat, drink coffee, etc. but felt about as mediocre as I would have rolling out of bed and heading straight into the run. Guess there's a reason I've always been so partial to the shakeout run although night shift screws the whole system up |
| | AM - 5 raw AM2 - 6 Tired on it but might go again before hitting the hay AM3 - 5 Running right before my night shift then running 3 more times after. Great idea that I totally planned PM - 6 |
| | AM - 5 raw AM2 - 6 PM - 6 in the rain |
| | AM - 5 raw Rain forced a treadmill run. Ran the first 1.5 or so at 10mph but calf felt a little iffy on a couple steps so hopped off stretched it out and ran the rest at 8mph. Felt pretty comfortable at the pace coming right after a full shift and having probably not split a 5-minute mile in 5 or 6 weeks(elbows still scrapped from that one). Next shooting star I see I'll have to remember to wish against taking a nasty fall on a run again any time soon AM2 - 6 in pretty heavy rain First 1.5 or so had to stop at least 10 times hopping off the road for passing cars and being tired and cranky had me cursing most of them out the moment I saw them(not from lip-reading distance mind you). So, imagine how I must have felt when a truck hit a puddle next to me that left me soaked after I'd already ran out of vitriol for their vehicle. Vindicated? Wet? PM - 6 |
| | PM - 8 Might as well have not run at all! |
| | AM - 5 AM2 - 8 AM3 - 8 Nearly hit 20 miles before sunrise AM4 - 6 Think this is my highest mileage AM to date; not gonna fact-check that right now. Time to pass out PM - 7. Slow About 15 minutes after waking up. Or as they say in Florida, slacking off! PM2 - 6 40-milers don't seem to get much easier with every one added to my rap sheet; maybe mentally: not having to doubt my legs holding up as much as the first few tries. Regardless, happy to get a good mileage day in after mostly doing the bare minimum(by my scale) the last two weeks |
| |
| | AM - 5 raw on the treadmill @ 6:18 pace AM2 - 7 PM - 5 |
| | AM - 5 raw on the treadmill(6:50 pace) AM2 - 7 Need new trainers badly PM - 6 Gonna check Hibbett before work; if they still don't have any pegs within like 2 sizes of 11.5 as they didn't when I checked last month might have to finish this month in Crocs |
| | PM - 6 before work. Overslept by like 4 hours |
| | PM - 5 Don't think I can run another mile in these pegs without my legs or the shoes themselves exploding. More irritating because I actually went and got new trainers Thursday night, but they still didn't have pegs and the on sale ones I got instead I immediately gleaned I'd never be able to run in with how (unnecessarily) wide the shoes get by the inner sole. What I get for not trying them on in the store PM2 - 6 Didn't get a new pair of shoes but instead used an old(but less busted) pair of Nike structures that have been sitting in my trunk for probably 8 months at least, and ive had to own for 3 years or more . I'm hoping they can at least last me through the night if not the weekend. PM2 - 6 Don't want to use being on my feet 40 hours a week immediately after the 250-mile week as an excuse for not running more so it's very much bothering me I couldn't even hit 700 for the month with a week that huge in there. Still should be my second biggest month by a decent margin Edit: memory-holed my 666-mile January this year |
| | AM - 5 AM2 - 5 PM - 7 6! 6! 6! The number of the beast! (Pretty sure I also said this at the conclusion of my 666-mile January) |
| | Too busy to run today; had to go to an endodontist 90 minutes out of town right after work. Also went to the dentist yesterday and again tomorrow so not a fun middle of the week for me |
| |
| | AM - 5 raw AM2 - 8 PM - 5 PM2 - 6 |
| | PM - 7 PM2 - 6 First week under 112 since September of last year. Regardless, the 100-mile week streak hits 28 |
| | 3 x 5 before sunrise AM4 - 5 Noon - 5 35 in 17 hours, legs had absolutely nothing that last run. Working on my old man form early |
| | AM - 6 AM2 - 6 Noon - 6 Couldn't start running until like 7am because of heavy storms PM - 3 after work letting the pot of rice I'd just made sit |
| | AM - 6 in the rain 2 X 5 later in the AM in lesser rain |
| | AM - 6 AM2 - 5 PM - 6 PM2 - 6 PM3 - 6 Warm out. Gonna be too warm 24/7 very soon |
| | 3 x 6 Finally got a watch charger shipped. Also with my next entry I'll be a year older so some reflection: awesome past year of running, was starting to think that 200-mile week I ran in 2019 was one of one so very happy to have one-upped it instead(and one-upped that week a few months later) |
| | AM - 6 All I got with work. Not a very fun bday but I'm of the belief moms should be the ones celebrated on this day. Or you should be getting wished happy birthday by people that nearly got you killed or tried to kill you in the past year only |
| |
| | AM - 5 @ 7:44 pace AM2 - 6 @ 7:53 pace PM - 6 @ 7:55 pace Feels good to be able to track pace again, didn't realize how checked out I'd been on most runs the last few months without that to keep me focused |
| | AM - 6 @ 7:49 pace Noon - 8 @ 7:09 pace PM - 6 @ 7:09 pace Happy to see the pace drop a bit after a few runs with the watch. 2nd run was in light rain and was pretty enjoyable but 3rd one was hot as hell. The season of "finishing a run and suddenly feeling like you just submerged your face in boiling water" is here, I think. PM2 - core and a few leg exercises, was considering a 4th run after but was my first leg workout of the year I think and was pretty sore leaving the gym. Got in my best stretching session of the year at least(10 minutes of light stretching, maybe less) |
| | AM - 5 @ 6:52 pace very foggy and humid. Peg 40s felt excellent AM2 - 8 @ 6:52 pace Noon - 5 untimed |
| | AM - 5 @ 6:46 pace. 6:20 last mile Noon - 7 @ 6:24 pace. 6:05 last mile Aerobic pace is back baby. Doubt I can hold it any longer than around 40 minutes without really planning around humidity and I don't think better fitness will change that |
| | Noon - 5 shakeout PM - 6 @ 6:29 pace, 6:08 last mile PM2 - 6 @ 6:18 pace, last two miles in 5:59, 5:58 PM3 - 4 shakeout |
| | AM - 6 shakeout AM2 - 6 @ 6:27 pace. 6:01 last mile Didn't quite feel like the aerobic effort I was aiming for those first 5 miles, I wasn't far off or struggling but just never got into that gear Noon - 6 @ 6:08 pace. Last 3 in 6:02, 5:51, 5:44 Now that's more like it! Was in the 30's this morning so the caveat is these runs were probably in the most ideal conditions I'll get for a long while. I left with something, and there's always the treadmills |
| | AM - 5 shakeout AM2 - 6 @ 5:58 pace Very windy. Had to work for it a little more than I wanted bc of it but the pace was quick early on and I wasn't gonna let it slip PM - 6 @ 6:16 pace Again, wind made me earn it PM2 - gym for lower body strength and a little 🤏 core. 3 right after I got home and I regret not giving myself an hour or so off; wasn't hurting but did not enjoy it as much as the other 3 runs today, wouldn't say I enjoyed it at all. |
| | AM - 5 AM2 - 8 PM - gym for legs and 4 on treadmill PM2 - 4 very easy |
| | AM - 5 easy PM - 5 @ 6:15 pace. Hot and bright PM2 - legs at the gym + treadmill before and after for 5 total RIP to my 100-mile week streak I had going on here; ran out of time Saturday. Prior record was around 13 weeks back in 2019, kept it up for a full 30 this time |
| | 3 x 5 finishing with 3 on the treadmill @ 6:06 pace Been a subpar month for me mileage-wise but I've been doing enough not to lose any real fitness built the last few months prior. Very warm and humid out for the first 3 which left me gassed for that treadmill run, shouldn't have bumped up to 10.4 mph that last half mile |
| |
| | AM - 3. Had some chest cramps Very overworked the last two days. Have a bit more time to run today AM2 - 6. No chest cramps PM - 7 Heat index of 105F. Was not very fun but nice way to get a bit tanner |
| | 6 x 4. Officially hot enough that it's a struggle even making it to 5 miles past like 8am. A new 100-mile week streak begins |
| |
| | AM - 4 PM - 4 x 5 throughout the afternoon/evening and another 4 at about 10:30 Very hot/bright those first 4 runs |
| | Rest in peace to my favorite hockey player. Gone far too soon |
| | 5, 8, 7, 6 2nd one started with 5 progressive on the treadmill. 6:31 avg pace |
| | 5, 9, 7, 6 Progressive 5 on the treadmill on run #2 again. Avg pace 6:27 |
| | 4AM - 9 before work 10AM - 6 after work 2PM - 6 after a nap. I'm very much accustomed to waking up and starting my run within 10 minutes but when it's that bright and hot it's a pretty brutal way to start back up. Still went longer than I usually do for those 5PM - 6 7PM - 4 |
| | 7AM - 5 10AM - 7 Legs finally started to feel like I'd ran 70+ miles since 4am Saturday on this one. Hopefully can find the time and leg strength for another 13 so I can hit 170 for the past week 1PM - 8 3PM - 5 Felt much better than the 7 or 8; might have been knowing if I finished this in one piece I'd have like 16 hours of mostly recovery |
| | 6 + 3 x 8 Much easier hitting 30 than a couple days ago |
| | 7AM - 6 9AM - 9 1PM - 8 4PM - 7 8PM - 4 |
| | 9AM - 7 11AM - 11 Slept in so had to cram mileage in before work. Legs weren't falling apart but I was dead tired the last couple miles of the 11. If I can get another 12 in after I get off it'll be my 5th 200-mile week to date from last Saturday through today 7PM - 7 10PM - 5 and there it is! |
| | AM - 6/8 Not gonna hit 200 on the blog week but might get a chance to try at another in a few days. No way am I gonna try to beat my record but definitely could have ran more the past week PM - 8 |
| | 3AM - 5 6AM - 8 Trying for another 200-mile week starting today 9AM - 7 Noon - 7 3PM - 7 6PM - 6 |
| | 7AM - 5 9AM - 9 Noon - 9 3PM - 5 10PM - 3 |
| | 8AM - 6 11AM - 8 2PM - 8 5PM - 8 8PM - 5 |
| | 9AM - 6 11AM - 7 8PM - 3 10PM - 3 |
| | 9AM - 6 Noon - 9 3PM - 5 Tripped and fell on gravel road; was able to turn and land on my side and roll but surface was not kind on me. My left hip looks like the bone is sticking out and left elbow looks like I just got a Tommy John, but no real damage beyond bruising and bleeding. Not nearly enough to stop this train 6PM - 4 |
| | 7AM - 6 10AM - 7 1PM - 10(5 at the gym before getting groceries, 5 when I got back) 6PM - 7 And that's 200-mile week #2 of the month |
| |
| | 5/6/8/6 4 of the 8 was a slight progression on the treadmill in 24:03. Need to figure out how to factor the extra time ramping up speed at the start. Very dumb it locks at 3, 5, 7 and 9 mph |
| | AM - 5 Noon - 7 including 2 on the treadmill in 10:30. Felt like I got more comfortable with the pace as I went on but I was still worried I'd trip and go flying if I went any longer; really need to find an accessible track |
