I didn't run today. I've been feeling pretty sick and wore out. My only desire tonight was to sleep. Hope to make it to the club run Thursday night, but I'll have to see how I'm feeling.

Missed the club run, sorry guys, but I'm planning on seeing you all at the race Saturday. I came home from work and slept for about an hour, still feeling sick, but got up and decided to head out for a run around 4:30. As Clyde would write the run was Blah! Just ran over to Hurricane High School, then stretched and walked a lap around the track. A guy about my age was running a little bit, so I talked to him for a while. His name was Kayden and he said he would like to train and run the St. George marathon next year. I told him a little about the club and the fastrunningblog. He was figuring out how to work his Ipod/nike GPS unit, looked interesting. Anyway after talking to him, ran back over to La Verkin all the way to Farmer's Market then back home going down through the Overlook Subdivision. Glad I got out, but still not feeling all that great. I'm interested to see how I'll race on Saturday.

Did a run close to 9 miles this afternoon and was hurting pretty bad. Ran from Sky Ranch back to La Verkin, whole body was hurting but managed to run it in 59:55 which was a new record for that run, previous best time had been around 1:03. Glad the week is over, not the best week of training, due to being sick much of the week, still feeling a little week.

Good Workout tonight with Steve. I decided to stay over in St. George after work and run mile repeats with Steve at the park. I did a 2.5 mile warm-up before he got there, then we got into the workout. Our goal was to run around 5:40 and be able to run at least 3 repeats.

1- 5:35 This first one felt real comfortable and I even found myself holding back just a bit.

2- 5:30 Once again another good repeat, didn't feel like we had picked it up that much, but 5 seconds faster.

3-5:25 Started feeling some discomfort on this one, mainly my stomach cramping up a little.

Decided we could handle one more and probably not kill ourselves.

4- 5:19 We started this one at quite a bit faster pace than the previous repeats so I knew we would either finish with a fast time, or make it around one time and be dead. Anyway we made the first 800 in no problem, then Steve picked it up. He really ran the last 800 strong, I struggled to keep up and finished in 5:19 about 2 seconds behind him.

After the repeats jogged another mile easy. Overall, good workout and felt pretty good, especially considering I still am recovering from being sick last week. Plan on doing some more workouts like this over the next few weeks.

3.5 easy miles this morning, had to force myself out of bed, but glad I did. This afternoon I did an 8.5 mile run from Snow Canyon Middle along the trail to Ivins then back down into Santa Clara (man they have that street all tore up now) then over toward Corey and Danielle's old house, then back to the school.

Didn't run today, got sick the last period of the day at school. I was really dizzy and I even had to have a cousin drive me home to La Verkin. Spent the rest of the night laying on the bed and resting. Still feeling kind of off-balance this morning.

The club didn't meet this morning, so I slept in, I'm still not feeling the best, really strange I have just really felt off balance. I spent much of the day preparing for a talk I have to give in church tomorrow. I did start feeling a little better this afternoon, but I just decided that I would rest another day, plus tomorrow and look forward to Monday.

3.5 miles this morning, felt good to get out and exercise a little. I've been struggling the last two weeks with running and not feeling to great, hopefully all that stuff is behind me and this week will be a good week of training.

4 miles this morning. Good workout tonight which was something I've been needing. Decided to warm-up from my house to Hurricane High School 2.5 miles, then did some dynamic stretching then 6x800m with one lap recovery between each. The last time I did a workout like this was Sept 18 a few weeks before the marathon. Anyway the times today on average were faster which was encouraging.

1- 2:43 decent pace for the first one

2- 2:39 maybe a little quick

3- 2:43 discouraging the football field sprinklers came on and about 3 of them were shooting right out into lane 1 and 2 of the track, even had to dodge out to lane 4 a few times to miss the cold water. The sprinklers would have been welcomed if it would have been in July or August, but a little too cool this evening to be running through water.

4-2:42 good repeat, but struggling a little, decided on the last lap just to run through the water.

5-2:36 feeling good on this repeat, the sprinklers finally shut off, so I coud focus on lane 1.

6-2:37 really tried to run faster than 2:36, but came up a bit short, still happy I was a little stronger at the end of the workout. I feel good when I can finish with a couple of good splits.

Did a 2.5 cool-down back to my house in La Verkin. Decided to run back past the Hurricane City Park, just for a change.

1 mile warm-up around the park. Pretty good run tonight. Met with the club (Dave, Steve, and Bill) we ran the Black Hill Loop from the park. This time we were smarter and ran up to Diagonal then over to Valley View Drive and down to Indian Hills. I was feeling pretty good, took a little bit to get warmed up. I was able to really pick it up on the downhill, feeling pretty good, then decided to slow the pace and go back and pick up Bill (I owed him, he has been kind and has pulled me along more than once). Started to cool off a little once the sun went down behind the hills, but still a pretty nice evening in Utah's Dixie.

Did 12 miles this morning with the club from the Dixie Center, went up Dave's trail to the top of Web Hill, then down to River Road and out south to the transfer station then back to the west on some trails. I enjoyed the run it was a different route which made it more interesting. It was a little cold this morning and I didn't much want to get out of bed, but I'm glad I made it over to run with the guys. I felt pretty good once I warmed up, picked up the pace the last 1.5 mile. Happy with my week of training now I'm going to enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Did mile repeats at the park with Steve and Bill. I warmed 2 miles before Steve and Bill got there, then I did another 2 with them. After a good warm-up we started the workout.

1-5:29 Quite a bit faster than the first one two weeks ago. This had me a little worried.

2-5:18 I felt like I started this one fairly slow, but must have really picked it up on the second half.

3-5:23- This one hurt the most of the four we did.

4-5:24- Happy to finish this one.

1.5 mile cool down

Overall, good workout. I found it interesting that I would run the first half relaxed and slower, then really pick it up on the second half. Anyway, I was still pleased with the times considering we started the workout a little faster than we were probably planning, it felt good to be able to hang on and finish the workout with times that were pretty consistent.

Steve ran real strong. Bill had some calf issues after the first one, so he jogged around after that and got in some more easy miles. It was a nice, warm afternoon and quite a few people at the park, including two kids that were punks and were yelling at Steve and I the whole time, usually I just block out the negative comments and the "fat" "lazy" "unmotivated" people that like to make fun of runners. However, I really was getting upset at these younger kids today. Besides that everything was pretty enjoyable, well as enjoyable as mile repeats can be!

4 easy miles this morning. Planning on running the 1.5 mile Turkey Trot at school. Should be able to run a lot faster than last year, considering I'm at least 20lbs lighter and in much better shape. Just finished the Turkey Trot- 8:33 and first place overall, nice victory over some tough 9th grade boys- I'll take my turkey and head to Colorado for the next few days. Hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday and I will plan meeting up with the St. George Running Club sometime next week.

Well, I finally forced myself out the door and did 6 miles this evening. I had to bundle up since it has turned cold here in La Verkin, but after I got going it felt ok. I had a little soreness in my left knee and hip flexor, probably just from taking the last week or so off. I am going to try to do better this week.

Pretty cold tonight, so I decided to run on my treadmill, not something I really enjoy, but better than not running. Started out with two miles at 7:00 pace, then dropped the next mile to 6:40, then finished with an easy 7:30.
