Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Their moto is "more sports - brighter life", which we think is wonderful, and also deserves a Like. If you want to see a fast marathon in Crocs, go to the video and click the Like button. And make sure to share it with your friends.

4 miles this morning. I am going to try to have a better week this week. I haven't been running as much the last few weeks as I should be. Is anybody from the club up to running some intervals at 4:00 pm today at the park? I'm planning on being there. Let me know. Ran 6.5 miles tonight with Bill. We met out at the running store, Steve was kind enough to let me try on at least 5 different pairs of shoes. I think I liked the Saucony Tangents the best, but I'm still going to wait and see what he gets in when more of his Asics come in. Either way it will be a new experience for me, most of my running life has been in Nike's, but with Steve in business, I'm going to be adding some different brands to the closet. Bill and I did an easy 6.5 from the store up to Snow Canyon Middle School, then down the trail behind the school, then back on Snow Canyon Parkway, Bill had some calf issues about half way into the run, so we took it easy on the way back, which was fine with me. My knee has been hurting a little and I have a bruise on the inside, probably bumped it playing basketball.

4 miles this morning. Planning on doing hill repeats this afternoon.

Did hill workout @ Pah Tempe.

1 mile warm-up, then started.

1-2:12-felt slower than this

2-2:10- felt pretty good

3-2:08- fastest one

4-2:15 slowest one, not focused the whole time

5-2:11- better effort

6-2:13- last time I only did five, so I decided to add one more and it went alright.

1 mile for a cool down, feeling pretty tired and a little dehydrated now at home, but still glad I did this workout. Looks like I might be taking over as 9th grade girls basketball coach at our school. It could be a positive experience, I've always enjoyed coaching basketball and it would basically go from now until the first week in Feb. My plan would be to have morning practices at 6:00 am which would still leave me time to train after school.

7.5 miles mainly on the trail near the Red Hills Golf Course (City Creek Trail) I felt pretty good on the trail today, ankle felt good and was running at a little faster pace than usual over the rocks. Ran with Dave, Steve, and Paul (I know Paul told me, but I've already got it confused I think he was from Minnesota, if not Michigan.) Anyway was nice to have him along, he is also training for the Painter's Half. Today was also the first morning I started coaching 9th grade girls basketball-6:00 am practice, so had to get up at 5:00 in order to make it over to St. George in time. I'm pretty tired now and will probably try to go to bed a little earlier tonight.

Ran up and over 600 North trail down to the Fire Station by Coronado Ridge Subdivision.A nice 6.5 mile run out and then 6.5 back. The weather was pretty warm when I started, but then cooled off quickly once the sun went down. I missed the club run this morning, we had family Christmas pictures.

9 miles with Bill down around the Black Hill, across Indian Hills Drive, then back on Main Street to 100 South, then up to Diagonal to the Running Store. I felt ok, was lacking a little energy, so wasn't pushing the pace much tonight.

No running today, I went and had my plantar's warts looked at. The doctor ended up freezing some of them. Actually the biggest one he worked on for quite awhile froze it, then scraped a little on it, then injected it to make it numb, scraped some more, then went back to freezing. Both feet are hurting now tonight, but I'm glad I'm getting this taken care of. I've had the warts for some time and they have been getting bigger and more painful to run with. Hopefully, I'll only be down for a few days.

Did 1 mile of running this morning with the basketball team, plan on getting out tonight and tomorrow morning with the club. Got out for 4 easy miles this evening around La Verkin, feet still a little tender, but seem to be healing, should be good for a few weeks then I go in again to have a little more work done.

Went 12.5 with the club on the painter's half marathon course, good run kind of cold, body a little stiff and sore. I've been having a hard time finding that running groove I was feeling over the summer, part of it is probably because of my inconsistent training the last few months, but with the new year approaching hopefully things will start clicking again.

No run today, had a basketball game in Page, AZ, team played good, but we lost by 5 points. We have another game on Thursday so I won't be at the club run, but I am planning on Saturday morning if anybody is going to be around.

4 miles this morning. My girls basketball team got their first win of the season last night against Park City, so a nice way to start off the Christmas break, and I'm glad to be done with the past week of school, I should now have a little more time to train.

Ran 13 miles this morning with Clyde, Steve, and Bill, we left from the Dixie Center ran down main to the boulevard, then out on the frontage road, back down river road then on the trail back to the Dixie Center. Good run, but cold morning. I felt pretty stiff and sore for much of the run. My training has been pretty hit and miss lately, but with the new year approaching and hopefully warmer weather on the way I should be able to get back into a better routine. I took the garmin again today and experimented some with the splits.
