| Played ball for 1.5 hours this morning, really good workout, but now I'm sore and tired at work. I'll probably run 5 or 6 miles tonight, depending on how long it takes me to mow the lawn and finishing planting the garden. I didn't get a run in tonight like I was going to. I really have felt run down all day, pretty tired and sore. |

| Good workout this afternoon, still trying to cool off, with my busy schedule tonight I had to run right when I got home from work. It was 90 degrees and at different points on the run I was really wondering why I was out there running 9 miles. Anyway I was happy with my effort 63 minutes so right at 7:00 pace, I did the same route from Sky Mountain Airport to my house back in February and ran at 7:13 pace in much cooler weather. I was also pleased tonight when I got on the scale I was at 145 which is 20 pounds lighter than where I was back in October. I would still like to lose a little more weight, when I was running in college I was down around 133 to 135. |

| Easy 4 miles this morning. Spent most of the afternoon and early evening at the hospital with my wife (8 months pregnant and had a bad kidney stone problem) fortunately it passed and we came home this evening, went out for another easy 4 miles tonight around 8:30 nice evening 75 degrees. |

| Ran 2 miles around the park before running with the club. With the guys we went out on River Road then down along the river trail, up over St. James, past the golf course where I found 3 golf balls, then back on River Road, decent pace and right around 8 miles. |

| Easy morning workout, I'll do a few miles tonight and should be ready for the Hurricane Half Marathon tomorrow. I am pretty excited, still a little unsure what kind of time to shoot for. I am feeling in pretty good shape and fairly recovered from Boston, so I might try to push it and see if I can come close to a PR. |

| Did the Hurricane Half Marathon today. I was really pleased with my race. I took 6th overall and ran 1:20:49 (6:10 pace) which for me was a 3:41 improvement from my all time PR which I ran back in 2004 at the Provo River 1/2. Ran a lot of the race with Clyde which helped me keep pushing along. We started out the first few miles back in 9th and 10th pace, then passed two guys around mile 6, passed another guy around mile 8 and then the last guy around mile 10. I really felt like I was getting stronger as the race went on, so I was happy about that. 1-5:29- first mile was a little short 2-5:37 (11:07) 3-6:18 (17:25) 4-6:30 (23:55) 5-6:19 (30:15) 6-6:26 (36:41) 7-6:41 (43:23) 8-6:18 (49:41) 9-5:07 (54:49) 10-6:14 (1:01:03) 11-5:59 (1:07:03) 12-6:47 (1:13:51) 13-6:58 (1:20:49) Overall, really happy with my place first in my age group, plus the competition was pretty good. Hobie Call won the race and Jose Martinez was second. I just need to keep training and working on improving, today was a good day and helped boost my confidence and desire to really train hard this summer and prepare to run a good marathon this fall at St. George. |

| Easy morning workout, legs a little stiff from Saturday. Did 4 miles tonight alternated between a decent tempo pace for a mile and a recovery pace for a mile, did two sets. After my short workout, went and had Jansen's birthday party over at the Sand Hollow swimming pool. The boys had a lot of fun we swam for about an hour and a half and so we are all pretty tired now. |

| Easy 3 mile workout this morning. Tonight I had a great workout. I had Sunny drive me out to Anderson Junction and I ran home through Toquerville. I have done this route before and it is nice because it has the miles marked pretty good. When I was first getting back into shape I would just run from mile marker 5 to my house which was right at 6.2 miles. The last few times she has dropped me off at mile marker 6 which is right under the freeway. The run from there to my house then is 7.2 miles. Anyway tonight's workout was really encouraging. The thing I enjoy most about running is being able to compete against yourself. I have always been pretty good at keep track of workouts and keeping a running journal, but I have really enjoyed this training blog Sasha has put together, because I seem to reflect more and write more about each workout. Just like tonight it has been encouraging to be able to go back and compare a similiar workout done on January 12th on the same route. 1-14-06, Start at marker 5 1-6:05, 2-6:37(12:42), 3-6:45(19:29), 4-6:31(26:09), 5-(35:49), 6-6:37 (42:26) 5-10-06 Start at marker 6 6:19 marker 5 1-5:22 gradual downhill 2-6:03 pretty flat 3-6:34 recovery mile 4-5:34 downhill 5-7:10 hill into La Verkin, recovery .2 jog-2:13 6-5:17 (44:34) slight downhill I really feel like I am getting stronger and my body can now sustain more intense running for longer periods of time. |

| Went out pretty late tonight, since it had been so hot during the day, and I was at the father and son's campout this morning. Ran from the house over 600 north through the golf course, down 600 north another mile then back, from there went over to the hotels and back on S.R. 9 through Hurricane and back to La Verkin. Right ankle and left knee were bothering me a little on the run, but I was still glad I got in the longer run tonight, and a pretty good week of training. |

| Good workout, ran from house out to Brentwood bowling alley. Pushed the first 2 miles and the last 3 miles at a little faster pace. Body feeling pretty good, still some soreness in my right ankle, left knee and right groin area. |

| 4 miles this morning. Ran 6.5 miles tonight out to Cholla Creek Subdivision and back home, felt pretty good. Right after school I shoveled rock for an hour and a half and the sweat was just pouring off I figure it was equal to another 1.5 miles of training or working out. |

| Good workout with Clyde ran from his house down to River Road, then out to Web hill. We did two repeats up the hill to the radio towers. Right before we started the hill repeats, I twisted my right ankle pretty good, this the ankle I had surgery on back in October and so I was a little upset and nervous right after it happened, but fortunately I was able to finish the workout and it isn't feeling too bad tonight, just a little stiff. The last 4 miles of the run, I was really hurting, mainly my legs, just couldn't get into a rhythm, it has been awhile since I have done a longer run, so today was good even though I was hurting at the end. |

Was going to do a 5k race tonight in my home town, but it wasn't organized very well and there were only people walking so I just went and ran 3 miles. |
