Running Accomplishments:

I started running about ten and a half years ago. I have ran three marathons. SGM in 2005, Ogden in 2006, and SGM 2006. My best time in a marathon is Ut. Valley Marathon 3:59:46. I have ran seven half marathons, some 10k's and 5k"s. My favorite marathon is SGM.I have ran 13 Marathons, will be during my first Ultra in march of 2013, it will be the Antalope Island Buffalo Run, a 50k.

2008 SGM PR 4:02:23 The best is yet to come.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Short term running goal is to increase my four days a week of running to five to six days a week.  Do more speed work this coming year. Bring my times down. I would like to do SGM in 4 hrs or less.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep up with my Brother Clay in a marathon, someday do a sub four hour marathon, and BQ.

Personal:

I have been married for 34Years, and am still madly in love with my wife Wendy. I have four children and six Grand children.

First run of the new year, nice temps this morn. I ran past minin gu corner and back today. Lots of runners out having a good time this morn. My legs were whck on sat run and not much better today. Not sure what is going on getting old I quess. I will do some crunches and then roll the legs.

Another nice day of great running weather with temps in the mid 50's. I ran around the river bottomsand the legs were feeling good today for a change. So I pushed the pace a little bit and was able to have good rythum throughout the run. I also put 25min in on the bowflex, upper body and finished with some crunches.

This weahter is somthing esle, again in the middle 50's which is perfect running weather. I'm loving this and soaking it up. I did a full golf course loop today was nice and I am finally starting to feel good again. So far been a great week of training. I finished todays workout with 25 min on the bowflex, upper body work and some crunches. I will take tomorrow off and hopefully get in a long run on sat.

I had to go into work for a while this mrn, and then there was a baptism that I wanted to attend. Needless to say I only had time for a short run today, I was really wanting to do at least 15. So I don't know how ready I am going to be for the St. George Half in a few weeks. Oh well just go and do my best.

Nice run around the golf course loop today. I hooked onto the river trail at the park. It had a couple of inches of fresh powder snow on the trail. it was a cool run an very enjoyable.

Nice race for me not my best half time or my worst, another tweener. I did feel surprisenly good throught the whole run today. I was in better shape than I thought. The first seven were all uphill, I think I ran a bit to conservative should have pushed a little harder. My mile splits are as follows.

I did not get a run in yesterday as i just did have any mojo for some reason. I got already to go, even went outside to get going and I just was whacked for some reason.

Today I was able to get out of work at 11 am, feeling better today and did a golf course loop. Nice temps, ran in shorts and short sleeves. It was a beautiful run for almost the middle of Feb.

Dont know if I will get a long run in tomorrow as I have a World Wide Leadership training at 9 am. If I don't go in the morn on sat. my run usually dos'nt happen. We will see.

I was able to get out on my run after the mroning meeting. I t was a brutal run none the less, the wind was blowing hard. Some places it was all I could do to move forward . I t just zapped my energy quickly today. Hence only made it a short 10 miler.

I did the bishop storehouse route today, have not done that one for a while. It was kind of fun for a change. It was a hurricane for todays long run, I had intensions of doing a 15 miler today. But the wind just took it out of me early, the legs went whack fast today. Very nice long run today, finally a desant sat with no hurricane force winds. I went out up over harrys hill today, the up woodlands hill dr. over to loafer mt,rd. Then down to canal rd to home. The legs did surprisinly well and hung in there for the most part. It has been a good week of training.

Hottest day of the year or run of the year so far. Arrived home from work this afternoon and the temp was in the middle sities. So I threw on the tank top and it was so wonderful to run without all the winter gear. I felt as lite as a feather, My run took me out past mini gu corner today and back. The legs did good after sat long run, after the run I spent 25 min on the bowflex doing upper body work. Good start to a new week.

Nice race today at Snow Canyon in St. George, the weather was perfect a little bit of a head wind coming out of the canyon. I did feel good through out the race today, had good energy and the old legs held up good. I do not know what place I had in my division as they had me in the wrong catagory altogether. Not sure how that happened, they had me in the womens 50-54 weird. So in that division I placed 2nd and about 58th overall. Just so bazzar, oh well.

Nice long run today and great weather, I ran out over harrys hill and up to the round about. Cut over to loafer canyon rd, then down to canal rd, to home. The last 6 miles I did my best to run at marathon pace miles, no I will not tell you what the pace was I'm still very turtleish. I want to try and get my body used to running harder when it's tired this training year. Maybe I will have a real good marathon. Cross my fingers.

Nice extended run around the golf course today, a bit on the windy side with some rain and sleet. But once I made my way down into the river bottoms the wind was a bit calmer. I did push the pace a little harder today, the old legs wanted to pony out a bit. I also did some hill repeats, finished todays workout woth some upper body work on the bowflex. Then worked on the lower body to work some different leg musceles. So a good workout today.

Nice long run today, however it did feel like the middle of Jan not the first part of april this mron. It was 26 degrees as I headed out the door, once I got going it was fine but it was a bit nippy at the begining. I ran with my Brother Clay for a while it was nice to have someone to push me a little harder than I'm used to. Been a great week of training things ae coming along. I have been having some problems with my lower abdominales for about six or seven months. They just get really sore during my longer runs, I double over when I cough because it kind of smarts a little. Not sure what is going on. I did have it checked a few months ago for hernia, Doc said that was not the prob, maybe a strained muscel. Other than that things are feeling good.

Nice long run today, did the over harrys hill into salem sat route with a glf course loop. The legs were feeling good today and they just wanted to keep going. next week will be my last real long run and then begin to taper for Utah Valley Marathon. Hottest run of the year so far, it was 90 degrees after I got home from work. Threw on the running clothes, laced up the shoes and headed out to Harry's Hill and back. The legs did not want to go the first few miles, then they got into a good rythum and finished the run strong. It ended up being a great run.

Great moring for along run, cool to start out but warmed up quicly once the sun came over the mountain. I think my legs have hit the wall today, just whack drom the start. Yesterdays rest day did not do a lot of good. But we got it done, seen the usual group ou this morn they were all running great. I will start to taper now for Utah Valey Marathon, hope my legs come back quick. This has been a great wek of training.

My quads are trashed fromm yesterdays trailrun with my son. So I did 30 min.  cross training on my eliptical at an indurance pace to give the legs a break from the impact of the road. Today was a cross train day as Wendy has been wanting to climb to the top of Mt. Timpanogas. So that was my training today alot of uphill and downhill today. My legs are very whack but it was worth it. Very beautifull day injoying Gods creations and I got to spend it with my best friend. I love you Wendy, thanks for a great day.

Nice longer run this morning, went to the top of Harrys and back. Met Wendy as she came down into the river bottoms, so I was able to tack on a few more. For the most part my training the past month has not been what I would like it to be. Other more important things have needed attention, about 120 plus families are constanly on my mind. I want to do my best at keeping my physical side in shape as well as spiritual. I am still planing on doing SGM.

awoke at 5 am to go for my long run, lighting was flashing everywhere so I went back to bed for a bit and let it pass over. Finally got out at 6:30 and it was nice, a bit muggy after the rain but not bad. met my brother Clay at the base of Harrys Hill and tried to run with him for a bit. My legs could not keep up, by the time I made my way back up power house road another round of rain and lighting from there home, needless to say I was soaked.

I now get to go and conduct a funeral for a Sister in our ward who passed away this week. Eith Johnson is a very corageous daughter of Heavenly Father, and will do great work on the other side of the vail. Edith was 92.
