Been dreaming about this one for a while. The weather cooperated for me. Crazy windy but didn't start raining until the last few miles.
The Route -
Rattlesnake Gulch TH to Deep Canyon TH tagging the following peaks enroute. Box Elder Peak (9372'), Wellsville Cone (9356), Scout Peak (8687'), Pleasant View Point (8550'), Mendon Peak (8766'). Big downhill to turnaround at the bottom of Deep Canyon then back to the truck tagging all the same peaks on the return trip. Brutal day. Loved it though.
T-6:54 total time. 3:15 to turn around. 5 min break. 3:34 return trip.
One final jaunt up the Spring Hollow trail before the snow buries it. We did hit about an inch of snow at the top but it wasn't bad. Run was 90% in the dark, but the moon did help light things up for us. Headlamp season has begun :(
Fan and I ran a lolipop course from First dam along BST then up green to the Beirdneau trail. Followed that to the peak then continued along the ridge to the top of green canyon. I was running late so I pushed the pace from the spring all the way back to the truck. I almost made it before bonking but didn't quite make it. The last two miles along BST were a slog. I even randomly fell over into a bush.
Roads were icy, trails were covered in powder covering ice. General non-ideal conditions all around. Short on time and energy I only ran 12.5 today. Now to do my chores around the house and then put in a half day at work. Yuck.
Green Canyon Half with Fan and Joe. Haven't run with Joe for months. Glad he is alive. Feeling sick today but went running anyways. Probably gonna come back and bite me but I felt fine out there today since we kept the pace pretty chill. Trail conditions were decent with most of it reasonably well packed down. I modified my Innov8's with screws in the bottom for traction and it worked beautifully. Didn't help on the soft stuff but on the ice it was great!
Tired of being sick so I decided to just go out for a run anyways. I mean what's the harm? Oh yeah, incessant coughing and hacking during and afterwards. Bad idea.
Fun run though. I love this loop. Tough, icy, steep. Perfect.
