45 mins on the mtn bike. I was losing my sanity and I think my family was sick of seeing me mope around. So I headed out for a ride before work. Felt good to get out. No pain during or after. 10 miles 800' vert
Great morning for a brisk hike up a mountain. Tried to keep the effort reasonable and was especially careful on the way down. Didn't want to fall and have my insides rupture. No, I think I am past the danger stage. My spleen is still a bit enlarged. I can't take a deep breath without pain in my shoulder (inferred pain). Slowly getting better though. Hope today's effort wont set me back. I had a blast being back in the mountains.
T-2:30 6.2 miles 4000' vert
Rode the bike in the evening with my son - easy 6 miles
Hiked to aid station - Fed and watered some runners - Went for a hike while waiting for them to return - Fed and watered more runners - Hiked back to the start/finish.
Mike ran well. Faster than last year by 10 mins or so but lost a few places. That race is becoming more popular. Even had the irunfar contigent there (not reporting but running).
We had a nice group of Erik + Mike + Fan + Keegan. Pace was easy due to my guts and Keegan's newness. I felt fine until towards the bottom of Birch when my guts started to hurt. Probably too much running. I need to chill out, but just can't help it.
It was a fun run though. Smithfield Dry Canyon to Flat Top and down Birch Canyon. I stayed back with Keegan and we took it easy until the meat wagon showed up and saved us the last mile back to the car. Thanks guys.
Went on a 'new to me' trail today. Cherry Peak Trail. It was sweet. Nice mix of hike/running. It actually had more running than what I was figuring it would have. Probably beat up my body pretty good because of that. But, no pain during the run so maybe I am finally getting better. It seems like it. Great day in the mountains!
Mtn Biking today - Calling it 10 miles equivalent.
Camped at the sinks last night with the family and I left from our campsite and headed over to Peter Sinks and headed down Stump Hollow. The trail was all chewed up from fresh rain and horses. I thought my arms would shake off. Turned around and headed back. That climb is a beast with an hour already on the legs. Ouch. No breaks all the way back to camp. We followed it up with a dip in Bear Lake. We only lasted a few hours before the cold water and overcast day drove us away.
