I warmed up really well for the 3200. I enjoyed the 200m track because it was easy to lock in the pace and just focus on running. My arms got really tired at the end and were almost achy. I cooled down afterwards, and was very happy because I ran so well.

I sat around all day at the UVU meet waiting for the 3200 at the end. They were running the meet very slowly. Tom and I didn't get to race until around 7 and that was after warming up for a really long time. 300 meters in some one stepped on my foot and gave me a flat tire. I tried to keep running as well as I could but my spike fell off 800 meters in. At that point I wasn't going to get back in the race, and was very upset. I still cooled down with Tom.

I did this early in the dark before we left for spring break. I started out by running ten minutes easy at 7:16 pace and then 10 minutes at 6:14 pace. I then went on the track and did drills. My workout was 10x400's hitting 69 or 70 and with 2.5 minutes rest. I did a mile cool down after. My quads were really feeling the 10 and 10 by the last couple intervals.

I still went and hung out at the Davis Invite with Zach and we supported the TEAM. Landon ran an awesome mile where he closed in a 60!! We were all going nuts. Tom was running back and forth from Solo and Ensemble, but ran the 3200 in the middle of the day. He had a big PR, which was awesome, and then what was almost better was that he puked all over the new Davis turf. During the break I ran 2.5 miles around the DATC and was feeling pretty good. I did some fast 200's on the track as well. Feeling fine today. Watching the invite section was awesome and the free brooks gear from the cavalcade was cool.

It was the Herriman Twilight Meet today. Tom and I ran the 3200. I was really nervous to race and everyone could tell. The one cool thing was that the 3200 and 4x4 were completely in the dark under the lights. I ran pretty well considering I haven't done much. My tendonitis hurt a little, but it wasn't too bad. The highlight was that the boys won the meet!

Tom, Parker, and I did a long warmup before the 3200. The heat really got to me in that long of a race and I know it did last year at Region too. I didn't run up to snuff. Tom went for it but died at the end. Him and Park both barely missed top 4. We all felt like crap after and Buhrley had all of us running in the slow heat of the 800. I did a brief jog after and tried to get some gatorade in. We didn't have to warm up much for that 800, and it was mostly just for fun. I was towards the back and just hanging on. Went up to the school and worked some gunk out of the legs as part of the team going to soph region or state because Buhrley says there could be a chance he may have me running in the medley prelims.. My middle of the night run was awesome. It was 11.7 miles this year. I just relaxed and chased after butt lights. 6:48 average which wasn't bad.

Once I woke up I really didn't feel good. Laying around helped some before I had to run up Ragnar hill. That hill is brutal and it wasn't quite as enjoyable this year. I averaged 9:16 pace up the hill. 

It's pretty good to get a tempo, long run, and hill run all in less than 24 hours.

I got to the park early and was able to get in a good warmup. They call everyone to the line way beforehand. I didn't even have my flats on yet.

At the start it took about a quarter if a mile for things to settle in where they should be. I was right with the front pack with Jaxon Hansen and some other guy. The three of us were right together still at the mile. We hit that in 5:40, which was good since that mile is slightly uphill. Right then the other guy just took off. Jaxon and I picked it up too, but not nearly as much as he did. I was just feeding off of Jaxon in that second mile. That one was a 5:20 and the other guy had quite the gap on us. I started to pull away from Jaxon and he yelled telling me I knew where I was and what I needed to do at that point in the race. I knew then that he was just trying to get in a good workout. I closed as hard as I could in the last mile. I was happy with the time and effort.

While all the nonrunners were still finishing the race I was able to get a two mile cooldown in. There were lots of congrats after.

Woke up really early and went to Salt Lake. The DNews 10k is always a fun race because all the best in Utah seem to be there, including tons of high schoolers. In the morning we went up to the ridge trail above bridger lake and ran. I went as far as you can about, it goes to where you can drop down into china meadows. I averaged 7:41 so not too bad considering you have to watch the ground the whole time because there's hardly a trail.

I did a 10 minute jogging warmup. I was the lead off leg for us. I got out well but started to struggle after probably 1200 meters. I did my best but it wasn't what I wanted. I hurried and changed shoes and ran around the course trying to help out my teammates by cheering them on and got 2 miles worth from that. All of the varsity squad(me, Carson, Ryan, Fess, and Nate) struggle for the most part, which was hard to watch. It was hard to have Clearfield pass us on the last leg and have them rub it in our faces. I didn't have a voice because I was yelling for my team and had also been yelling at the close football game last night.. Being on my feet all evening and yelling probably hurt my race some.

I was pretty motivated from the races this morning so I biked for 45 minutes in the evening.

While warming up I could tell that my legs were very tired and sore. I started the race and instantly could tell it was going to be rough. Fess was right on my butt which was also making me paranoid. Half way through I told Rob my legs weren't working. Over the last mile I was able to mentally get over what my body was doing. I passed all the Clearfield kids and the Andreasen's. It was a little off what I wanted, but not terrible considering. 2 miles cooldown.

Today was rough. I'm still feeling under the weather. We jogged part of the course. I warmed up. I barely made it to the start on time.. I was just trying to hang on most of the race. I think I was 5th on our team at one point. I was able to dig deep in the last mile, partially because Clearfield was gunning for me again. I passed Ryan Searle on the finish which was good.. I just wanted to fall over after the race I was completely dead. I was third from our team. Rob commended me because he didn't even think I was going to race. I cooled down two miles.

It was cool and bug infested. I wasn't feeling great at all. The one adventure was that Zach, Fessler, and I went to the bathroom in the trees while a race went by and coaches were right there. I had gastrointestinal discomfort for most of the race, but was happy with the overall effort I put into the race, even though it was on asphalt and not very organized. It was cool today so I got in a really good warmup before the race. This is random, but Josh Ward gave me a high five while doing run outs. I went out and was in the lead for the first 800. Then Skylar and Kaden came up and I sat right behind them. About 5:11 through the first mile which was a little fast but about what I wanted. I hung right there. Skylar gapped me a little in that second mile, and I was able to get ahead of Kaden. I went through two miles in 10:39 which was about exactly what I wanted as I was trying to simulate region, which was hard since almost everyone was taking things fairly easy today. I backed off over the last mile because I wanted to save my legs and because Rob was freaking out.. Got in a much longer and better cooldown than the rest of the team.

Warmed up the best I could. It was raining and hailing while I warmed up. Got to the starting line and we had to restart twice because it was muddy and guys were having a hard time staying on their feet. The course was extremely muddy in a few spots which slowed times down and killed energy. I also wasn't quite as fresh because it was a Monday. I was able to make up a lot of ground over the last mile though. I gave the rest all I could for today, and unfortunately it was not what I had wanted. I talked to people for a while after the race. Then I embarked on my cooldown. Davis' boys were the only other ones still running and not in the awards stadium at that point. I cooled down for 2 miles and then went and stretched while at the awards. I applauded every Davis athlete because they deserve the respect and don't get it from most people in the region. It hurt a little to hear that we took 4th.. but man this season has not been easy. Buhrley did tell me the course was probably 20 seconds slower because it was wet, so that comforted me some.

It was warm today and I knew it would be. I warmed up on my own and tried to be mentally in the right spot. We did a new cheer right before the race. We drew the perfect position on the line and that allowed me to have a good start and be in good position. Luckily it wasn't too good like Ryan, who went out in the lead. I ran the first mile a little conservative, 5:25. I really tried to focus on passing people and moving through the second mile. I tried to go with Logan Mackay of Davis who was moving well. That last mile it was everything I could give, along with everyone else in the race. I finished and just dumped water all over because it was hot. I kind of wandered amelessly for a few minutes. Zach came onto the track and talked to me and then we got out awards for Academic All-State. I talked with Jared Ward and he was able to put things into perspective for me a little and make me feel good about my race. It was only 10 seconds slower than I had been shooting for all season, so I wasn't too disappointed. The state was so competitive this season that it just didn't place me even close to where I wanted to be. I almost didn't cool down, but did a short one barefoot. What a releaf it is to finally be done!

I went with Zach and Tanner and had an adventure up on the mountain. We hiked/ran up the mountain to the top. It was a leg burner and really and got the heart rate way up there. Once we had finally made it on top, we ran along the top over to Francis Peak and sat by the golf balls. It was quite the feat to be up there. We talked to a Davis guy that had ran up there and was going down Farmington Canyon. Our plan was to go down Baer Canyon and have Nick pick us up. Little did we know how steep and rugged that canyon is. We had to go really slow down it. We were jogging along and next thing we knew the trail was gone and we were next to the creek/river. After what felt like forever of trying to find the trail and not having any luck in the thick foliage and stuff, we decided to follow the river out. It was so thick that we eventually just decided to walk down the middle of the river. I was angry and even more upset because Tanner was so slow! After a while I came upon a trail and started running with excitement after showing them. It eventually lead us out, just 2 hours longer than we expected it would take us. I was so wiped out and even emotionally tired. It was overall a good experience though and I love the mountains. We really covered about 16 miles though.

Today was an awesome experience. I skipped out on some of school and went to Riverdale to watch the NCAA Mountain Regional. The highlight of course was that the NCAA just restored Jared Ward's eligibility and he got to run. It was fun to be at a cross country meet where all the people there know how to spectate. I ran during most of both races spectating and then did some more running before, between races, and after. Today I realized how much I love cross country races and the people involved with the sport. After talking with Buhrley and Austin Costley, I am determined to run a race like that wearing a collegiate uniform.

The weather was cool for California, but was idea racing weather. I warmed up with Zach, Nick, Jeff, and Brady as they were the only ones in my race. We just had to jog back and forth as a warmup. I felt pretty good on the line, but was very calm. I got out well and was in around 30th through the mile. As I hit the hills I was able to power up them and that is where I would pass people. My legs felt really strong going up the hills. I had moved into 7th by the end. I was passed by two guys in the last 200 meters on the track. I was a little disappointed that I didn't have that closing leg speed. After the race it started to rain pretty hard. I changed into dry clothes and got in a cooldown.

My feet were bothering me on the treadmill, but felt fine when I was running in the hall. My legs also felt better then. I was going medium to easy pace, but was glad to run. After the 40 minutes I did some dynamic drills and then a brief cooldown on the elliptical. I missed the time trial today, and I hope I can do it some time next week, because I've been feeling pretty strong lately.

Finally out on the roads, I didn't care what the weather was like. It's so much better to actually run and be outside. I took things what felt pretty easy today. I ran out with Tanner and Jeff. I came back faster than we went out. I think I averaged about 7 flat pace. About 4 miles in I got soaked by a passing car, but I felt good. My "toe tendonitis" was acting up, but that isn't even a real thing.

I ran 5.5 with Zach and Rob. We averaged about 7:10 pace. My legs felt like they were going faster than we acutally were, and that was disappointing. They should come back to full strength soon hopefully. It was funny because Rob was dying. Zach was doing well though and I'm waiting for him to have a huge quantum leap. After I did a fast couple laps on the indoor track and then a few minutes easy on the bike.

I was feeling kinda tired and had pressure in my head beforehand, but I knew I just needed a good run. The weather felt great which was awesome, the roads were just a little wet. I was feeling really good, especially my breathing. My right IT band felt a little tight, but it didn't hinder me at all. I know that at 4 miles I was around 6:40 average so I think I really killed the last three miles downhill since I averaged 6:20 for the whole run. Excited to put in some great work after this rest week. Back on the grind!

Did 5 miles this morning. I was not feeling good at all. My breathing just didn't feel right and I had a headache. I also had a couple side stitches. I didn't fuel well beforehand so that might have played a big part. I'm going to try to be better about that for the rest of the week. I still managed to average 6:40 pace though..

I went out this afternoon and did 4 more miles. Things felt normal again, which is a relief because this morning was wacko. I ended up going back and forth on 4000 because I was trying to have Logan get some footage of me, which didn't go too well. I had some major gas pains a few times. I averaged 6:34 so I was happy because it felt pretty easy.

It was a beautiful morning to be running this morning. It was warm, about 40 outside. I was able to wear shorts which makes things ten times better. There was some wind, but the sun was out. I even saw some other runners which is odd this time of year. I was feeling really good. My nose wasn't cooperating, but it was still an awesome run. I started chasing a guy down with two miles to go, so that played a part in how fast I went. I averaged 6:16 and it didn't even feel too hard. I was just enjoying being a runner.

Merry Christmas running community! I've always loved Christmas runs. Today I did an easy ten miler. The goal was 7 flat pace but I think it was more like 6:50. I did throw in one mile in the middle that I wanted to be at tempo pace, but it was kinda uphill so a little slower than I wanted, it was a 5:37. My left hip flexor was bothering me most of the run. The legs also felt tired, which I think was from the really good run yesterday. Where I had tendonitis also was tender over the first couple miles.

On a side note I officially feel that I am a real runner because I did an easy ten miler.

For the most part it was a good run. Mom and Justin filmed me from the car during the first mile. Nothing hurt once I warmed up well. My body overall felt wiped out, I guess that's what holidays do though. Hopefully things will be feeling good tomorrow. Averaged just under 6:40's

I did three easy miles this morning just to get the legs moving. I also ran plugged in, which I haven't done in years. 

This afternoon the plan was to run the 4 mile time trial tempo since I missed it last week. I warmed up and my left knee felt kinda tight but nothing too bad. I started and could tell that my stomach was not happy that I couldn't run 4 miles hard without pooping, so I only did two miles of tempo/time trial. My first mile was 5:21 and the second one was 5:24. I am definitely in way better shape than a year ago, so hopefully I can run some good times once the season comes. I was also on pace to run just faster than Landon did, which I think would be the fastest ever by a Titan.. Oh well. I easy fartleked the last two miles and then did a half mile cooldown. I did run into Trace Fifield and talk to him for a few.

I think the huge gastrointestinal problems today was a combination of the holidays and the fact that I ate pasta last night along with lots of oranges and pistachios over the past few days..

My left knee was hurting me last night and I woke up to it swollen, but figured it might be good to run and use it. I did an easy 11 miler, about 6:44 average. The knee felt fine as long as it didn't go through the full range of motion that you do when running fast. I guess running fast on it hurting yesterday probably did it. It was really humid this morning so I had frost all over, which doesn't happen very often here in Utah. I did some jogging back home once I hit 11. I also could feel my ankle tendons were a little sore.

The knee still doesn't have full range of motion and hurts somewhat, but isn't nearly as swollen. I ran 4 easy miles on the treadmill, and it felt about the same as Saturday. Still not healthy though. I went to the school and did some strength work to mix it up and see if that might help a little too.

I'm having to try and get this knee healthy, so I biked for 65 minutes. The knee didn't hurt at all while biking. My abs were sore from working them yesterday but things felt fine on the bike. My knee still feels about the same as it has. Luckily this isn't the middle of a season. The goal is once I recover from this to remain healthy, no injury or illness, for the rest of the school year. I think if I go back to biking once a week it will make a big difference.
