| | The knee is feeling about the same and not getting much better. I ran 4 easy miles on the treadmill. I tried at one point to move the legs all the way through, but that full range of motion with the pounding makes sharp pain. I don't think it's IT band because when I've had problems in the past it has been dull not sharp. I really want to race. I just have to try and heal while trying not to lose any strength or fitness, which is nearly impossible unfortunately.

| | I warmed up with the team running. They were doing intervals on the indoor track out and I brought a bike out there and would go hard when Zach was doing his intervals. Bike intervals are not fun, but I was able to get the heart rate up though. Zach was having probably the best workout of his life. He was struggling on the last one so I jumped in there and helped him through it. The knee didn't hurt either during that. I did about 35 total minutes on the bike. Then I cooled down jogging for 15 minutes with Zach. The knee can fully bend normally today so that is good.

| | I ran six easy miles with Zach today. It was my first time on the roads in almost a week. We ran pretty easy, about 7:15 pace. My knee did pretty well, it did ache a little from about 1.5 to 3 miles. We picked it up and ran the last mile in 6 about 6:20, which felt a lot more natural than the slow pace. I fell on the bridge while watching a hawk which was embarassing, haha. We also saw a bald eagle which was cool. I still can't fully bend my leg when running though, like butt kicks are a no go.

| | I waited until really late to run because I was helping my Dad build shelves in the garage. I wasn't very motivated to get a run in. I ended up doing six miles which felt good. I averaged 6:33. It started at about 7 minute pace and I think I gradually got faster. It felt nice to finally run and not have anything hurt. I also ran into Trace again, haha. I think I'll be healthy to get in some good training next week.

| | I just wanted to see how things felt and held up going farther today. I felt really good going out, but is also downhill. I scraped my right knee on a snowbank and that was bothering me a little, but not bad. I had to stop and go to the bathroom on the way back. I felt fine other than that coming back. I picked it up the last mile and wanted to see how I did. I tried to catch Zach. I came back about even so I must have slowed down a bit coming back. The last mile felt fast but I don't think it was. 6:29 average for run. I think if I can get in a good 6-8 weeks of this type of intensity base/strength training I'll be able to run some really good times and races.

| | I didn't feel smooth at all today. My hamstrings were especially sore and things just didn't feel fluid or easy. I also had lots of gas and lacked energy. I still averaged 6:37 about for 7 miles. Then I did a half mile worth of some jogging and strides to try and get the legs moving and feeling a little better.

| | I warmed up for 10 minutes inside and did some drills. My hamstrings are still pretty sore and tight. Once I was warmed up and changed into my Kinvaras. I did 2x18 160 meter laps on the indoor track. I would run one lap in 40-45 seconds and then one at 30 seconds which is about five minute pace. The first set felt pretty comfortable. On my second set I was still able to hit the times, but my heart rate never got down. It was a good general strength and cardio workout. My legs felt fine the whole time, no problem from the knees or my hamstrings. After I went out with Zach and we ran an easy 4 miles that was somewhere between 7:30 and 8 minute pace. Our legs weren't working very well during that.

| | Went out for an easy ten. The snow had stopped and it was pretty nice running weather. The inside of my left knee ached until I stopped 2.8 miles in to do some dynamic drills really fast. My legs were feeling pretty tired today and are not ready to run fast. The uphills really caused my legs to struggle. My hamstrings are also still a little sore. 6:48 average.
NOTE: I've been really hungry today

| | Started out not pushing much at all. My legs still didn't feel fresh or ready to run fast, plus my hamstrings are still sore. The last mile I started feeling better overall and picked it up a little. Tanner ran with me. 6:42 average over 5 miles. Then 4 strides in the hall to get the legs going.
The fact that my legs don't feel the best might not be a bad thing for tomorrow.

USU Indoor (1 Miles) 00:04:59 | | Not the best start to the indoor season. I warmed up for the mile with Zach, Thomas, Fessler, and Tanner. We ended up doing quite a bit of warming up because it took a long time to get to the 1600 and because Zach was really anxious. I was just trying to help some of the other guys out by running five minute pace and because I haven't done much of anything track related. I was right on at 400 meters but slowed down a bit to where I was 3 seconds slow at 1200. I picked it up to finish in 4:59.9. It felt pretty smooth other than 200 meter tracks make things kinda everywhere and physical. Nothing gave out and I felt like I could go farther at that pace, which was good. It was a little more challenging aerobically than I had anticipated though. I did a 10 minute cooldown after and then put on tights and sweats to help my legs recover for the 800.
I did over a mile of running again to get ready for the 800. I jumped in the second heat because I had no idea if I could run with those guys. My legs felt strong, but they don't have the speed/turnover to run fast like you do in track. I fell off a little after the first lap. I ran 2:14.9, which was slower than I had hoped.
After that I went out and ran around the USU campus for 4.5 miles. I needed that to calm down a little, and they weren't junk miles.
Other than leg speed the other thing that I need to work on is confidence and not being afraid to compete against the best in the state.

| | 8 miles great weather. My IT bands were tight and my knees ached a little, probably from the tight curves on Saturday. 53:16 so 6:40 average. I was mentally struggling today and not motivated at all. I was also missing by old TEAM. Somehow I need a mental recharge...

| | It's crazy the difference a new day makes, when I woke up I knew today was going to be a much better day. I also talked to Buhrley and he said I just need to be consistent and things will work out. I'm also working on enjoying running and keeping a positive attitude.
It was a BEATIFUL day to run. It felt great. Rob gave a well needed talk at the church about how some people need to step it up and not just goof off and have a social outing. Unfortunately one of the ones that really needed it was doing intervals. It even motivated me a little. Rob ran most of the way out with me and we were averaging just over 6:40s. It was good to have someone to talk to. He was struggling though. I stopped at the porta potty on the way back. Things felt better today, I could still feel my right IT band though. I closed in around 5:40 I think for the last mile. The average for the whole run was 6:32 miles.

| | Rob gave a nice talk again today, and of course once again the person that needs to hear it the most wasn't there.. Hopefully things will change when Zach beats him. I jogged for 9-10 minutes to warmup and then did dynamic stretching and drills while doing my positive self talk. My ankles were hurting where I had tendonitis last track season. I changed shoes and did a couple strides. The workout was 3x3laps RP 1lap jog, 2laps RP 1lap jog, and 1lap RP 1lap jog on the indoor track. I was just off 4:40 pace on that one and my legs were struggling to get moving. I switched directions after that. I did better on the next two. By the last set my legs were working better, but I was also a little more tired which made it harder. Right after my last one I jogged another lap and then ran a lap in 24 which is about 4flat pace. I talked to Lindsey and the sprinters for a minute. Then I hopped in with Zach on his last one. He got mad at the hurdlers during it which was awesome, haha. I went with Nick on the last lap of Zach's last one and ran 22, which was awesome. It was a good workout. After it took Zach forever to change I went out with him and we did 4 really easy miles, like 7:50 average.
Overall a good workout and feeling pretty strong!

| | My right foot was hurting during the day and I could tell where I had tendonitis was sore. I went out and did 10 miles. I started out a little slower and then picked it up a little in the second half. My right IT band was killing me, I'm sure from running on that tight track yesterday. I could also tell that around my achilles were a little sore too. I had a lot of gas that wouldn't come out though, which made it a little miserable. I averaged 6:36, so not bad for my "easy day."
I iced my feet and ankles after, hopefully that will help since I've got a big day come Saturday.

| | It ended up being a little slower of a run than I thought it would be. I warmed up and then ran with Zach out 2.5 miles. I think that is what slowed the run down overall is that it started slow. I ran a faster 1.5ish miles after that that felt like low 6 minute pace. I slowed back down after that. Hopefully me legs will be feeling rested for tomorrow.

BYU Indoor Invitational (1 Miles) 00:04:49, Place overall: 39, Place in age division: 5 | | It was a pretty crazy and long day. I warmed up for a long time before the mile because it was hard to judge when we would run and if they would make us just hang out in the bull pen. My hip flexors were kind of achy. I didn't have a great start and was toward the back of the pack. I knew at 800 I was about 2:26 so I really picked it up. My last two laps were much better than my first three because I was really strong and was able to move. I wasn't happy with my time because I know I can do much better, but it is still early in the season. I cooled down with Zach.
After refueling and laying around for a long time, which included some massage from Fess and Burrell along with lots of time on my feet, I started to warmup for the 800. I warmed up, took a break, and then tried to get things going again right before we ran. I tried to start more aggressively, but still didn't have great position. I was 66-67 at the 400 mark and knew I had to move. Once again I ran a better second half than first half.. I finished in 2:12.34. After I finished I could tell that my body can do so much more. I can tell that I am in great shape, and my legs are really strong in the races, but they aren't moving fast enoungh. I cooled down again.
Warmup time number three.. At this point it didn't matter too much. I was running on our B Team 4x1 lap relay just to work on leg speed, because that is what I need. It went pretty well I think. I slit 44 which would be around a 55 second 400. I did a brief cooldown, which was more than anyone else that ran the relay..
I was really disappointed with my races because I can tell that they weren't close to what I am capable of. I talked with Jared Ward before the relay and he said that this is normal for indoor, which made me feel a little better. Once I got home I was reflecting on one of my Dad's favorite poems, "Good Timber" by Douglas Malloch, which talks about how the stronger people and trees go through hardships and it makes the successes more rewarding. I'm sure these poor races will actually make a difference come May at Region and State.
After further comparison I'm still pretty close to Davis' 4-7 guys, so things will work out, I've just got to trust that my coaches will get me race ready, because I know my body can do it.

| | In the morning I ran 4 miles on the treadmill. It was a really solid effort. It was also nice that I didn't have the pounding that I would experience on the roads. My quads felt a little tight maybe, and my feet ached, but everything felt fine. It was a good intense run and I'm excited to finally run 3200 on Saturday.
I went out in the afternoon and did six more miles. I felt pretty good too, there has been more energy in the air lately. I've decided to not take stops unless necessary, so my only stop was 1.1 miles in to warmup/stretch. I could feel all of the weird muscular inbalances from still adjusting to racing on those turns. Over the last two miles my left lower back/hip started to ache like it used to when I had problems with it. I averaged 6:33 for the run.

| | Ran in the afternoon because we were supposed to be meeting as a team, which not very many showed up. I went out and did 8 miles and figured I wouldn't push things too much because yesterday was pretty intense and tomorrow will most likely be pace/speed stuff. After warming up it still took a while to get my left quads feeling better and not tight. I didn't ever take a break which was good. The longer I ran the more my left IT band seemed to tighten up though. It was pretty achy by the end. I averaged 6:45, so that's not too bad. I could tell my legs didn't have it today.

| | Warmed up thoroughly. Then did two sets of 6 laps, 60sec reco, 4laps, 60sec reco, and 4laps with about 5 minutes between sets. I did this at about 5:07 to 5:12 miles pace. Splits were 3:05, 2:02, 2:04 and then 3:05, 2:02, 2:03. It felt really natural. I was breathing really hard but it wasn't slowing me down. My legs started to get tired in the second half of the second set, but it was good. I feel like I'm preparing for outdoor more than indoor but it should hopefully give me a few good indoor 3200s. After I did a good 4 mile run for after intervals, averaging 7:06.
Note: My eating schedule changed today for A day. I ate lunch earlier and then ate a granola bar after school. My stomach felt good other than I was hungry by the end.

I didn't feel like I could run fast today. I ran 7.5 miles at about a 6:48 average and then biked for 25 minutes. I want my legs to be rested for Saturday.

Weber State Developmental Indoor (2 Miles) 00:10:17, Place overall: 9, Place in age division: 9 | | Once we got to the meet sat around for a while. They have a nice new facility. I kind of had a headache before hand. I went outside and jogged for a while. I did some casual drills and stretching. I jogged a little and went to the bathroom a few time. My stomach felt a little weird too..
I started out right in the very back, but I was hitting the splits that I wanted which was awesome. Carson was way out ahead of me and I knew he couldn't hold that. I went through 1600 in 5:10-11. I was able to start picking guys off and battled with a super frosh from Davis for a while. I really was able to run strong through the second mile. I felt strong and didn't really feel tense. Over the first mile my legs weren't working super well, but I got over it and felt better the second mile. I ran negative the second mile to finish in 10:17. This is awesome because it's only a second off of my PR from Simplot last year. I know I'm in better shape than that even right now, which is exciting. It should be a good season as long as I'm smart.
I tried to let the body cooldown a little. Then I went outside and ran 25 minutes outside. It wasn't fast, but just using the legs and keeping the heart rate up to hopefully gain a little more fitness. I elevated my legs after.
Cool part of the meet was that at the end we looked up to see Luke Puskedra doing a workout up on the suspended track. After the meet ended we went up there and met him, which was kind of fun and cool.

| | Rob gave a nice talk before the run, and I think everyone was a little pumped up from it. I was already motivated because I know I can run fast and because the Darts already have 5 guys under 10 minutes. I did 8 miles. I was 6:38 average, and came back uphill against the wind averaging 6:38, so 6:28 average for the whole run. I felt pretty good, and was really just getting in a good run. My right IT band was hurting, like usual lately, and I could feel my ankle tendonitis a little aching from Saturday.
After I did some light strength lifts, hurdles, and core.

| | I did a long and easy run today. Tried not to push hard or anything, but just run pretty comfortably. My right knee was aching in the first .75 before I stopped for some dynamic stretching. After that I did fine. I could still tell my IT band was a little tight though. I felt pretty good overall. 6:42/43 average for the whole run.
Some abs after. I got looking at Arcadia qualifying times today, and I really want to run the 3200 there. Gotta keep working.

| | Feeling tired today, I need more sleep. Today we did intervals. I ran for 10 minutes to warmup and did drills. After a couple accelerations I jumped into it. I ran 8x3laps with about 1:1 reco. My first one was slow. After that I was able to lock on for the most part and would be within a second of my 4:40 pace I was supposed to hit. We switched directions half way. My legs were struggling some today, especially on those third laps. On my last two repeats I really had to go to the bathroom, which caused me to tighten up and made it hard to relax and run fast.
After I went outside and did 4.5 easy miles at about 7:30 pace. I was dead by the end and really hungry.

| | Pretty easy day today. I ran six miles with Tanner, and some of it with Burrell and Jeff. Some parts of it were decent pace, but it was overall slow. My knees themselves are kinda sore and iffy today so I'm playing it safe to stay healthy, especially because of the 4 mile tempo/time trial tomorrow. We averaged 6:49.
After that I did twenty minutes of cross training on the elliptical. Then stretching and abs.

| | Warmed up inside. did drills, and got ready to run. The workout was a good one I thought. I ran 2x5laps with a lap jog in between, a few minutes break, and then did that again. I went 2:27 and 2:29 on the first one. On the second one I went 2:26 and 2:29. My legs were tired warming up, but felt good during for the most part. They started to get tired at the end too. After I ran another one because Rob wanted to see if we could run pace. I ran that one in 2:31. He paid me a real compliment in saying I'm comparable to Kyle Kelly in the sense of how much of a metronome I am with hitting splits, which is a huge compliment I think.
After I did 4 miles outside in the fresh air averaging 7:14 miles. Stretching and some abs after.

I ran north instead of south on the small road in order to go against the wind going out. My legs felt surprisingly comfortable today. I ran 7.5 miles, averaging 6:36, with the first half 6:40 average. After I cross trained on the elliptical for 15 minutes just to give my legs a break.
I did some strength/lifting and abs/hips after. Things were surprisingly calm and enjoyable today. It must have been because Fessler wasn't there. It was quite refreshing.

UHSTCA Indoor (0.994 Miles) 00:04:41 | | We had quite the adventure gettIing to the meet. Zach's Camry is quite the car. I warmed up and felt pretty good. I got boxed in pretty bad about 250 meters in, but was able to eventually get out. It didn't hurt my race really though. I went about 71, 71, 71, 68. I once again ran a really strong second half. UHSTCA Indoor (0.497 Miles) 00:02:06 | | I was tired from not much sleep last night and my legs were feeling yesterday's race a little. I warmed up really well, calmed down, and then tried to get ready again at the end. I had my legs feeling about the best I could. I started pretty fast, even though I was in the back of the heat. I went through 400 in 62high or 63low. I knew I really had to move then and started to chase after people. I chased a lot of them down and then tried to outkick some people. My legs felt really strong again which was good. I finished and was happy with that race. I went out and cooled down. I was really happy. I'm very confident now with the races this weekend going into Simplot next week. I know that I need to work on my mental barriers I have developed with certain people when it comes outdoors.
Zach had some awesome races for him this weekend, with two big PR's. I'm excited for him. I feel like we are able to help each other quite a bit, even though we don't run together.
Late this evening I ran 5 miles on the treadmill. It honestly made me feel better. I think those runs like that really help me. It felt a little harder than it should, but the treadmill kept things moving at a good pace.

I was happy, that pace definitely feels reasonable. My legs were feeling the races and my run Saturday night. After I went out and did a 30 minute run. I went out at about 7 minute pace and came back in 6:45/50's. It was a real solid effort. I could feel it in my head. Physically I know I've got a sub 10 race in me, I just need to mentally relax and know I can do it.

| | The plan was for an easy run today, but it was still probably a little faster than it should have been. I felt pretty good in the first two miles, but then my legs started to get tired. My legs just felt dead. It was one of those days where I felt like I had no form what so ever. I did not feel ready to run fast at all. Hopefully I'll be ready to go on Thursday.
My left foot started hurting after. I probably need to get something other than Pegasus next time I get shoes to mix things up a bit.

| | I'm not dealing with life very well right now, and the lack of sleep is starting to take a toll on my body a little. I ran five miles in the rain which was nice. I was not going fast at all, which was frustrating. My legs weren't ready to run fast today either.. I did two strides on the outdoor track after. I also stretched and did some abs..
I'm just having faith things will work out tomorrow. I've just got to not get frustrated with anything between now and then.

Simplot Games 3200 Prelim (1.988 Miles) 00:09:56, Place overall: 16, Place in age division: 1 | | I was a little tired driving up there but feeling pretty good. Once we got there I went out and tested out the track with Zach and Fessler. It felt really nice and made my legs feel good. I relaxed between then and my race time. I warmed up for ten minutes and then went through my dynamic drills/stretches. The legs didn't feel too rested, which was good because I knew that my legs work better that way. I just didn't think about it and tried to just run.
I had pretty good position coming off the line. Everyone backed off about 450 meters in though, so I had to navigate a little then. I was pretty money with my pacing. I ran 5:00 at the mile and was able to hold on and just push hard that second mile. I was about a second off with 400 meters to go, and I knew I just had to go. I ended up moving into the lead and just gave it everything. I could feel the energy from my TEAM, which was awesome. I crossed the line, and just knew I had done it. I never really had a big celebration though, I think that is because I've been ready for that race for a year and a half, and finally did it.
I talked to everyone for quite a while after. Then I went out with Fessler and we cooled down over two miles. It was a good and relaxing cooldown. I ended up missing the finals by two spots, but I had mixed feelings. It wasn't really disappointing. It was a long night cheering on all my TEAMmates, and then I took an ice bath after.

Simplot Games Sprint Medley Prelims (0.497 Miles) 00:02:06, Place overall: 15, Place in age division: 2 | | Spent the day hanging out and watching track at the dome. I warmed up with Zach before his 800 just to get my legs going a little. I did a normal warmup routine before the relay.
Nick and Karson got us into the lead, and Yardley just held on to it. I knew it was going to be a good battle because our B Team was also in our heat. I could tell that 50 meters in Carson had caught up to my heals. I just tried to run. After 200 meters, I could tell that my legs were not going to quite have it. Carson passed me with about 300 meters to go. I hung on, but he pulld away over that last 150 because my legs were dead. We both had run well. It was funto race against each other and have the whole TEAM going crazy over it.
I went out and did a 20 minute cooldown. I came back to find out that the B team had made it into the finals, but we had missed it by 3 spots, even though they were only one second ahead of us. It was a really fun race and I had tried my hardest, so I was overall just happy for Titan Track. #ohsoclose

'Simplot Games 4x800 (0.497 Miles) 00:02:05, Place overall: 7, Place in age division: 4 | | I warmed up with Carson, Ryan, and Loren. We knew going into it that we had a shot at the school record. We knew Loren was the weak point though. I went through a normal routine, and was feeling better than Friday after another ice bath and rolling.
I ran second and felt a lot better. I was able to get us in the lead and Carson held on. My legs felt much better than yesterday. We just cheered like crazy because we were watching the clock and knew that we were close to the record. Loren really died that last 300 though, and we missed it by 2.5 seconds. It was fun though, and everyone was cheering. We ended up 7th overall, missing medals by .5 a second. That was a bummer. This time it was a double #ohsoclose
I cooled down for 15 minutes. My legs and body were glad I didn't have to race anymore.

It felt about like what I needed. The legs were a little tight and achy in a few places but nothing bad. It was really warm outside, which was nice. My last few miles were miserable though because I pulled a Tom and really had to go to the bathroom with nothing in sight. I still need to get more sleep.

| | Buhrley wanted me to be his guinea pig today and try out a new workout, so that's what I did. I just kinda flip flopped today and tomorrow since I was planning on a fartlek tomorrow anyways. It was fun to get on the outdoor track though.
I did a good warmup with drills and changed into my Kinvaras. I was supposed to run continuously with 200 meters at mile pace(4:40, 35) and then a 100 recovery in that same amount of time. I did twelve on my first set and was feeling pretty good. I took about a 6 minute break and then did it again. I wasn't sure how many I was going to do, but ended up doing twelve again. I enjoyed the workout and it got the heart rate up. It was a little windy so I was struggling a little more than I would have liked to hit the times, but it was still really good.
After I did 25 minutes easy in my new New Balance 880's, which felt pretty good. Real solid day. I'm excited for outdoor.

My stomach didn't feel good from the get go, which is odd. I ended up having to stop at the porta potty on the way back because it hit me hard really suddenly. I just didn't feel great today. Still managed to average 6:40's.

| | It was a beautiful morning for a run. Really happy with my run today too. I didn't ever take a break, so it was just a continuous long run. I felt pretty good overall. My quads were still feeling it a little on my uphill part in the first few miles. About half way through my breathing felt more relaxed. I had a few lower leg aches in the shins and ankles, but they got better. I switched up sides of the road a little today. I ended up pushing the last 2.5 miles a little bit. Overall it was a good effort and shows my strength. 71:33 was the time, 6:30average

| | Had a really restless night of sleep. Thinking about my engineering project a lot.
I went out with Jeff and the Robber. Jeff took it out fast, like he does since he goes short, and it ended up killing me. I was really feeling it today, probably Saturday's killer good long run. My lungs and legs just weren't carrying me the way they should have been. My quads were killing. I ended up taking a break at the turn around because I was dying it seemed like. I tried to pick it up the last mile, but not sure if it really happened. My glutes locked up the last quarter mile. 6:39 average.. not bad for feeling terrible.
Stretching and some abs after OUTSIDE finally!

The breathing feels harder than I feel like it ought to, but I'm not sure. My ankle tendonitis was bothering me a little in the second mile, but it went away. I took one quick break to stretch out the shins and calves. 66min 45sec total time. After my feet muscles on the outside tightened up and I could hardly walk, but it's loosened up now.

| | First official day of outdoor track. Buhrley is trying to unite the team, so we had to do this "warmup" as a big group. I like the team building idea, but it wasn't of much benefit for me. It also rained like crazy this afternoon so I'm sure that scared a ton of people away.
After I went on an 8 mile run in the rain, it was quite relaxing. My legs felt quite a bit better today. I almost got hit by a car not even a mile in, that was fun. I ran like two miles ish with the Robber going out. Quads started to hurt a little in the last two miles but not bad. 6:38 average for the whole run.

| | Did a decent warmup, it wasn't quite as aggressive as I would have liked, but still got me ready to go for the workout. We did the 2x10x30seconds with 30 seconds rest and 10 minutes in between sets. It was windy today though, so that was a factor in how far we were able to make it. I wasn't quite sure how to run something like this yet either.. On the first set I was able to go 1785 meters, and on the second set 1840 meters. My quads started to tighten up the last 5 of the second set. Total I got 3625, which was what I was hitting last year like a month later than now before I got hurt. I know I'm in better shape, so that's not bad considering the wind. Things are looking solid so far. I did a 25+ minute cooldown nice and easy. My right IT band was tight during that. Some stretching and elevating after.
Going to catch up on some sleep this weekend.

| | Today was a weird day. I did the whole team warmup, which almost hinders more than helps my legs.. After I went out on the run after a bathroom stop. My legs felt awkwardly good at first. Aerobically things just didn't feel right at all today. I wasn't moving super fast, but still decent pace. My legs just didn't feel like they had the energy they should. I wonder if aerobically I felt weird because of the cough I developed over the last few days. I did have a bad spell in the middle of the night last night. Somewhere around 6:45 pace, so not great.. Did 4 strides on the grass after, the Robber was going faster than me though..........

| | Did a good warmup before the intervals. Ankle tendonitis hurting at first. Warmup loop plus my normal drills. The first part of my workout was 4x800's at goalish 3200 pace, with 1:30-45 seconds recovery for a semi race simulation. I hit 2:28 2:28 2:27 2:28. Things felt pretty good, but I had to fight some on the against the wind parts, and was having gas build up pains on my last repeat. I had a five minute break and then did 4x400's at goalish 1600 pace, with about 45 seconds recovery, once again as a race simulation. I knew these would be tought with the two miles before. I also changed into my matumbos for these. I went 68, 67, 68, 67. I was strong throughout them, but was having to work hard in them. It was not easy that's for sure. Probably one of my better track workouts ever. I was really motivated today. I just want to be the best that I can. 25+ minute cooldown with Zach after.

Almost 4 miles in I stopped at home to go to the bathroom and "waterproof''' myself because it started raining pretty good. After that it really started to come down. | | Today was the Intrasquad meet. I warmed up really easy, because I figured I didn't need anything super good. The first thing I ran was the mile. Zack Burrell took it out in 5 minute pace so that ruined going out slow. My legs were dead from yesterdays long run. Andreasens of course had to push everything.... I figured yesterdays long run and tomorrows hill session were more important so I ended up dogging every distance race just trying to score points for the seniors.. I ended up running a 5 minute mile, slow in the 800, and like 11:45 in the 3200. I anchored the senior B team of the 5x400 relay, which was my only decent race. Luckily seniors ended up winning, which means we don't have to listen to Yardley and the Andreasens brag!!!! I did a mile cooldown and stretched. Mentally I need to not even worry about today and move on.

| | I was able to get lots of sleep last night, which helped me out today I think. We went out to Antelope Island to do some hil repeats, and it was BEAUTIFUL running weather. I warmed up with Zach, Fessler, and the Robber. We started with 2x800's, then 2x600's, then it was up to 8x200's. All uphill will active jog recovery back down. My 800's were 2:59 and 2:53. The 600's were 2:03 and 2:09. My 200's were 42, 43, 42, 42, 40, 41, 41, 40. The 200's were really rough because the heart rate stayed really high. It was really solid though and I was glad I kind of dogged yesterday, because today definitely had many more benefits. Cooling down back down the hill with Zach and the Robber was rough because my whole midsection was tightening up and cramping. 7 miles might be pushing it, not sure though.

| | I did a normal warmup. Things weren't feeling too bad considering what I did Saturday. I did 10x400's with a 200 jog recovery at 3200 pace. I was hitting 73s and a few 74s. The legs didn't quite have it today. My left hip and calf really started to tighten up in the last few. It was solid, but I didn't push it too much. I did a 25 minute really easy cooldown. My feet tightened up and were really hurting, along with my calfs aching a bit. I did a little barefoot stuff after to try and loosen things up.
Fessler and Carson went nuts again today. It's like they try and run until their legs fell off. I think they overtrain in these intervals. They were probably running faster than me again too, haha.

| | It was a pretty mediocre day today. It was the first dual meet of the season. I tried to get a good workout out of it. I started with a 10 and 10, ten minutes easy and then ten minutes at fairly hardish pace. That shocks the body a little. After I did drills and got ready for the next part of my workout. I had to wait a little while though. I did 11x200's in 35 with 100 meter jog recoveries. I was wanting to hit 34s/33highs, so that was a little disappointing. I just couldn't do it. After that I had to run inside to go to the bathroom. I then got ready for the 4x4 and ran the anchor leg on the Syracuse Project team. I split a 57, which isn't great either. I cooled down for a little over 16 minutes. I need to work on leg speed and turnover.. I lack that |

| | It was beautiful weather today. I went out for just a solid mileage day. I did an 8 mile run. My right foot was hurting the first two miles, but that went away. I had to stop at halfway to tie my shoes. I can't remember the last time I had to do that. My right IT band was a little tight the last few miles coming back. It was a good day to just be out running. After I did 4x200's at 1600 pace. I still struggled to run faster than 35s. I think I need to break my body from that pace. I did hit 30 on the last one though. Hurdle drills, stretching, and abs after.
I overheard Rob talking to "The Prodigal Son" after practice today.. He was saying eventually sub 2 in the 800, but soon sub 10 in the 3200. He said he was going to work with him and help him. I will not lie, this pissed me off. He's never offered to help me like that. Just because he is a manchild and already broke 5 as a freshman? It shouldn't make me mad, but it's frustrating how much work I put in and he doesn't seem to want to help. I would have liked to have Tom, Landon, and Parker there today.
I've always loved this picture/quote since Coach Buhrley put it on our bibles freshman year. I feel like it's really starting to describe me.
When exaustion gets tired. When agony doubles over in pain. When defeat waves a white flag. I will still be out there. Running. I am what I am.

| | A little different today. I was up late doing homework so tired from that. I was also slightly depressed probably because I felt bad for Jeffe. I went to the bathroom and warmed up. We were ready to run and then had to wait ten minutes for the sprinters to finish their relay and get off the track. I did the actual relay/workout in my matumbos, and that felt good. We did a two person relay where each person ran an 800 and 4x600s. It was aerobically tough. I hit like 2:23 1:47 1:47 1:45 1:45. I was wanting 4:40 pace or faster, so it was a little slower but a good overall effort. The Robber was my partner.
I did an easy 30 minutes after. I got thinking about why I haven't been killing it in workouts and I remembered that my mileage is still up there, and it's never even been this high once seasons start, so that should be a good thing come May! It also gives me hope because the days leading up to Simplot were pretty rough as well. I also ran into good ole Julion out walking his dogs. It was good to see one of the old guys that have always encouraged me. Light hurdle drills and stretching after.

I turned aroung and went up HPH. That destroyed my legs. It was harder than I remember it ever being. After my break at the top I ran back. That first half mile after that my legs didn't want to work. Solid run that mixed things up. 51 minutes, so not bad considering yesterday and the wind and not being used to trails.
I did an easy mile cooldown in the parking lot after to try and loosen the legs up a wee bit.

It was really windy today so my mentality was try to be better than all my competitors. I did the TEAM warmup and then we did the additional warmup to get ready for a distance workout. My legs were feeling pretty rested from the weekend break even though the calfs were still tight. I changed into my kinvaras. I did the 1600 workout today. We were to do two sets of 200, 400, 600, 400, 200. I did my first set with Carson, but he wasn't really hanging with me. I was about 4:40 pace except on the 600 where we had to battle the wind a lot. I ran the second set with Ryan and Fess, but I was beating them too. Ryan was with me on the last one or two though. My legs got really tired by the end, probably from fighting the wind. The wind also made it a lot harder to breath. I was really happy with it.
I did just over 25 minutes on the treadmill inside after. It was a good day and good workout! Things are looking bright

5 Way Region One Dual (0.497 Miles) 00:02:07, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | I wasn't well hydrated from doing concrete today. I helped run the meet for the first half. I warmed up and my legs were a bit tired from yesterday. I ended up doing a lot of strides/runouts because it took longer than I thought. The viewmont guy took it out really hard. I went with him the first 100 but then realized he was flying so just tried to feel it through. I went through 400 in 61, and then kind of locked up. I really struggled that last 300. I also was in no mans land so didn't have anyone to go after. It was decent but I was hoping to run a 2:04. I cooled down a mile. I did a quick warmup to lead off the Syracuse Project 4x400. It was the best I think I've ever felt in a 400. I split 55, so that redeemed my 800. Hopefully between the two of those that will help my speed some. I did a two mile cooldown and some light stretching.

I did 60 minutes of "park run." I hit all the churches and parks and ran around them a bunch staying on the soft surfaces. I also ran around the fields by the school. I didn't try to push it too much. All the changing directions and uneven surface was a change for the legs. I did two barefoot strides after. Things felt pretty good once I was done.
We're doing a time trial 3200 tomorrow, hopefully I can do pretty well.

| | I was able to turn today into a pretty solid workout, at least I think. I warmed up and got ready for our time trial. We had to wait for the sprinters to get done and so it wasn't an ideal warmup, but pretty track typical. My butt/hamstrings were feeling a little tight and tired, so I knew it would be tough to run really fast. I tried to pace through the first mile at actual pace and went through in 4:59 or 5:00. I slowed down because I would rather run well next week at districts. I helped pull through Ryan and Fess through that second mile. I finished right behind Ryan in 10:26 which was solid becuase that used to be a pretty hard effort. Which it was but I know I can run much better. After I changed from kinvaras to spikes and ran 4 200s to work on the leg speed. I hit 27, 30, 29, 30. Then I went out and did 25 easy minutes. I'm excited for next week.

I think I was aerobically taxed from yesterday, because that didn't feel great, but it was a good effort and I know I'll get some good benefits from it. My right ankle tendonitis was hurting at points, especially with 3ish miles to go. It went away though. I pushed the last few miles a little harder to work on the long aerobic strength. I ran just under 6 minutes for the last mile. 72:36 for 11 miles, which is 6:36 average. Solid effort for sure. Now I need to recover for some big races next week.

| | Did the TEAM warmup after a long Buhrley sermon. Then I did an easy 4 mile run. It was a little faster than I would have liked, probably 6:50 pace. My ankle tendonitis crap was bothering me so I hope it holds out over the meet. Once back we did 2x100 meter starts and then 2x150 meter finishes. Nothing crazy, but I hope to be ready to compete like crazy for Districts

Davis District Championships (0.994 Miles) 00:10:04, Place overall: 3, Place in age division: 3 | | It was a long hot day between Rob's class and sitting at the meet so I was just trying to conserve energy and stay cool. I did a normal warmup, laid down for a few minutes and then started to really get ready. My ankles were feeling it a little along with my hamstrings and IT band.
I was like 12th position because Buhrley entered my time trial time. Stockton Smith and Logan Mckay went out way hard so I was in third leading the huge group through the first lap. We were like 71 or 72. I didn't want to do all the work so I waited for Kimball and Colton to come up and take it so I could sit behind them. I sat behind them but we ended up running the next three laps in 77s according to Coach Talley. We were like 5:03 at 1600. Colton especially kinda started to move and the Davis pack went and I was able to respond with them. Kimball started dying off big time and I was just keeping on Colton. I worked on just focusing on each lap which helped. I ran a good last lap which was good. Negative second mile so that was good. I was really happy with how I cometed. I was hoping for a faster time but Logan Mckay won it in like 9:50, so it was a slower weird race.
I need to run a faster first mile because I know I can hang on. I talked to some people and then cooled down. I did some of it with Kendall Thompson from Clearfield. I talked with Josh Ward after too.

Davis District Championships (0.994 Miles) 00:04:37, Place overall: 5, Place in age division: 5 | | I had to start warming up not long after I got out there after the brutal AP Stats test we had to take. I went to the bathroom twice which I think helped. My legs felt pretty alright once I was nice and warmed up. The weather was nice today, no sun and cool.
I didn't have a great start and got boxed in on the first lap. I had to go way wide 350 in to get out of it because Fessler was passing me. I went through in 69. I got into better position behind Colter and went through in 2:20. I tried to really focus on moving that third lap. I was 3:30 at 1200 meters and just tried to turn into a sprinter. My legs were really starting to feel it. I had passed Colter and was trying to move, especially with 200 to go. My legs weren't carrying me super well and Kendall and a Woods Cross kid passed me on the inside. When I saw it was Kendall I told myself I was going to give it my all to not let him beat me. I was closing on them but didn't know if I would have room. Those two started like wrestling so I barely edged them to finish in 4:37.69. I couldn't complain because I was 5th and a one second PR!
My legs were killing and screaming after that 1600. I ended up just doing a bunch of jogging to cooldown/get ready for the 800. Unfortunately I had mentally shut down by that point and wasn't in it mentally of physically.
I ran a decent first lap, 61. But after that I just didn't have the will or physical power to fight and got passed by a few.. 2:09.8 I think for 10th.
Some sporatic jogging around for quite a while during the remaining part of the meet. Time to rest up.

I did a fartlek today, to make it harder than a training run and to work on running semi fast when the legs don't feel great. I also didn't have to recover for a meet on Saturday. I felt decent. I was keeping good pace I think even though it felt easy. That's hopefully a good sign.
Slightly offended that today was Lindseys last day and she didn't officially say bye, but oh well.

| | Woke up and went over to Dixie High and was able to get on the track. I did a 1.25 mile warmup and got ready to go. I was doing a workout Buhrley gave me as something geared towards Arcadia and specific to the lower altitude in Saint George. Phase 1 was 8x400's with 30 seconds between each. I was supposed to go 70,72,73,73,73,73,72,70 and my actuals were 71.0, 73.5, 73.0, 72.8, 72.6, 73.9, 73.0, 69.8. I was pretty close but those 72's were hard to hit. The last three required a lot of effort like a 3200 does. I then did a half mile of jogging, some stretching, changed from kinvaras to spikes and got ready for phase 2. This was supposed to be 4x200's in 32-33 with that same time of 100m jog recovery. Those splits were 31.4, 34.6, 33.4, 33.8. My legs were tired and I had to work so it was tired speed. I recorded those and did a little jogging and stuff. Then I did 4x200s with a brisk 100m walk reco that were supposed to be 30-31. I hit 30.2, 29.9, 31.0, 30.1. They were not easy but manageable with the active recoveries I got in between. 26 minute cooldown and stretching after. Ankles hurting later in the day.

| | Should have maybe known better but I tried to do the workout everyone did yesterday and it didn't go well. I'm apparently still feeling Mondays hard session. It was supposed to be 8-10x400's where each 100 got faster. I felt like I was picking it up but was running about evens. I was hitting 67s or 68s. I had more than 1:1 reco after 4. At the end of the 6th one I couldn't breath and really struggled the last 150. I called that quits and decided it wasn't worth it. After I did an easy 4.5 miles in the 7:20s. I didn't feel good at all, but I realized normally for me day 2 after a hard workout is pretty bad.

| | Easy day today. Trying to let the body recover. Not getting much sleep last night didn't help things either. I ran with Zach and Jeff for the first bit and then Tanner for some. I did some starts and finishes. My lower legs and feet did not feel good today. Probably 7:15 average.
Found out I didn't get accepted into Arcadia, but its not meant to be and I'm fine with that. I've just got to get ready for a big race or two at the Logan Meet.

| | Today was intrasquad meet numero dos. I told Jeff I would pace him in the 1600 to go under 5. It was a good pacing practice for a 3200. He didn't really go with me but I still just hit the pace. I could feel my left hib/back felt like it was tweaking. Jeff ran 5:01 I think. I did some jogging and then spiked up for the 800. Ryan and I took it out slow. Loren Burrell came out of no where the last 100 and barely beat me. I could feel the hip/back so I decided that was enough. I did a really easy two miles then just tried to stetch. Hopefully some icing and stretching will help a little

| | Just approached today as an easy long run. It was nice running weather. My hip/back was a little achy about 2 miles in but didn't really bother me after that. I alternated sides of the road quite a bit to mix it up. My left hip flexor started flaring up with about two miles to go but went away a bit. My legs still felt fairly beat up after. I averaged right on 6:40 though so it was still a solid run which didn't feel like I was pushing it much. I need to rest up.

| | It was warmer today. We warmed up and I changed into my kinvaras. We did the 2 sets of 10x30seconds with 30 seconds recovery. I've been motivated to get the best out of myself for the rest of my high school career. Ryan did the whole workout with me, which helped me push a little and I think it benefited him as well. We made it 1860 on the first one. I was feeling my ankle tendonitis a little. Over the ten minute break in between my left glute/hip tightened up but it didn't really affect the next set. I think our very last interval was cut slightly short, because we only made it barely past 1850 when she said stop. We still recorded 1860. We did a 15 minute cooldown as a big group. I did hurdle drills and stretched.

| | Julion was there today, so that was fun. We did TEAM warmup. Then we just did the workout because Rob wasn't there and I didn't want to waste more time. It was a 40 minute run with 4x600s@3200 pace mixed in. The 600s were rough and really killed my legs. I was a little slower than I would have liked but never slower than 5 minute pace. Being in trainers didn't feel great either. My left butt and ankles were feeling it. I did a crappy cooldown after to try and help the legs but it didn't do much. The heat was making things feel even more sluggish.

I elevated and stretched in the shade after. Hopefully things feel better tomorrow.

Grizzly Invitational (1.989 Miles) 00:09:57, Place overall: 3, Place in age division: 3 | | Had a terrible bus ride to the meet because I was was on the edge of a seat and Daunte was like leaning against me the whole time. My back did not feel good after that. I warmed up and my legs felt ready to roll. I was in third position. I got into position after about 400 meters. The first 400 was perfect in 72. Malachi was leading and he didn't run quite as fast as I would have liked through the first mile. I was 5 flat of 5:01. I worked hard that second 1600 and there were three of us that broke away. We still closed negative. I almost got second place but he saw me coming and had another gear with about 50 to go. Rob said I maybe need to really put it out there the 6/7 lap because I don't finish quite as well. Buhrley also said I need to try and run the first 1600 better and run even moreso. I cooled down with Ryan and Fessler. I took it easy and cheered on my teammates. Then I warmed up and got ready to run the 800. I didn't really care what happened. I was 14th going in. I ran decent the first lap but would like to have ran a little faster, it was like 61/62. My legs started to give out 300 meters in though so I really had to fight. I ran a 2:06 for 9th place though so that wasn't bad. I did a long cooldown, which my legs were pretty dead in. Boys won the meet, but still lots of work for the end of the season to be as good as we would like.

My legs were still dead and were struggling. I made it 800 meters both times at 4:40 pace, but it wasn't easy at all. I was struggling to even keep form for that long. I tried a 400 but I felt the ankle a little and I cut it short because this workout was my last one before getting hurt last year. The Robber and I went out and did 30 easy minutes. It was well needed and we were just able to discuss some things.

Dual Meet @ Davis (0.994 Miles) 00:04:37, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | The TEAM lap was sweet. We were chanting Track/field and they were all just looking at us. I did my jogging to warmup with Zach. My hips were feeling tight but it was pretty nice racing weather. I just got on the line and was ready to compete. I tucked in right with Kimball and Colter. I felt pretty relaxed just running right with them. Third lap we pushed a little but not much. I knew Colter could probably outkick me. Kimball pulled away but I got him in the last 50. Colter won, but the three of us were only a second apart. I was happy with it barely a PR, and it didn't feel hurt terribly. I told Kimball I'd do the work next time. I cooled down easy while watching other events. I warmed up a little and ran the 4x400. I was second and they did a 3 turn stagger which threw me off a bit. I only split a 57 but that's alright I guess. Two miles easy cooldown after. The boys scores were Davis 63 Syracuse 58. It was close.

The legs felt decent warming up, and my toe wasn't hurting. I was mentally just not ready to fight today. The first mile was good we were 4:54, the only thing I would change is that our first lap was a 68 so that was a bit too fast. I started to feel my legs hurting about 3 laps in so that was a problem. I just told myself to get through the race. I just didn't have it that second mile. I couldn't even sum up much of a kick..
I don't like to make excuses but the late days at track meets has drained me by messing up my eating schedule and being up late doing homework. I definitely feel burned out now. I did a 20 minute really easy cooldown. The Davis guys are good guys, just like me. Josh Ward is a good friend and helped me keep a positive attitude. I also had a good chat with Kimball after the meet. Kimball and I are pretty similar I think..

I think I went faster than I normally would. I was just enjoying it. After that I got on my bike and biked for 50 minutes. I hit 65.5, 65.0, and 66.0 on my 400s. My 300's were like 48 48 47 48. It was solid. I had to really fight because my legs were heavy. I did three miles with the Robber after. It was super windy today, which gave me a pretty decent workout. I ran 6 miles around 6:40 average. I was cruising go against the wind though.. After I changed into my kinvaras and did 3x150 finishes.
I got into the Invited 3200 for the Davis Invite this weekend. I am going to run under 9:50 with that kind of field. I look to have a really good place that morning in the 1600 as well. It's time to put things together.

I do know that that played to the kickers Bryant and Loren who both beat me. I don't even know what I ran... I've just got to enjoy it and do my very best. I jogged around a bit and then ran the first 800 in the 3200 @ mile pace. The first 400 was good in 67 but my next one was a 71 so that hurt me. My legs were tired from the 800. Conner talked to me beforehand and told me I needed to redeem myself from the not so good mile. I fought really hard in that race but did not have it. My back started to hurt too. Region One Championships (1.988 Miles) 00:10:14, Place overall: 11, Place in age division: 11 | | I warmed up and the legs were feeling sluggish, but that wasn't a problem because sometimes I run really well like that. It was warmer than the day before and windy. I relaxed the first lap and went through in about 72. The problem was I was in the very back and the leaders were already long gone. I was right around 5 minutes through 1600, but my back started to hurt like 1000 meters in. It is so hard to fight when my body does that. I tried but just couldn't do it. I was extremely disappointed to run my slowest time all season..... I didn't even cooldown because I wasn't running the 800 with my back like that and am done with my high school career in competition. I helped out with the meet and cheered people on through the rest.
After the meet was over and Davis did their celebration, Karson and I were sitting at the top of the bleachers taking in the moment. It was pretty crazy. Buhrley didn't make us go to the TEAM meeting after. We were both crying. There are a lot of memories on that track, and I wouldn't trade in any of them. It was tough. Karson being the great guy said something along the lines of, "It'll be all right, we've got bigger and better things ahead of us." That meant the world to me. I couldn't ask for better TEAMmates

| | Ran up to the Y with Zach. I felt pretty good and it was a fun mix up. 40 minutes up 30 minutes back My back hurt after. I need to slowly get back into running. I was still quite a bit stronger than Zach. It was hot today and we got recognized for Academic All-State. There are some crazy competitors/athletes in Utah. Seeing people quadruple and win them all was super duper impressive. Things never quite clicked for me, but I still love this sport. The Titan Boys struggled quite a bit today, but it was a good journey. Some people had some poor opinions which bothered me. After the meet was over I reflected quite a bit, including on the way home. I really have struggled this year with my good running friends all being gone on missions and me really being on my own while Rob focuses on his prodigees. I was kind of the misfit this year.. I realized that I'll definitely miss it, but I am ready for Canada and those experiences.

| | I really needed to get out and run today, but wasn't sure how well I was going to do. I decided I was going to force myself to run a little slower than I would normal to see if it helped my back. It hurt during the first mile, but after I stopped and did some dynamic stretching it didn't bother me much. It was windy. I just tried to stay relaxed. I think that the crazy downhill last week is what did it. I also think running fast the other day might have aggravated things as well. I was feeling pretty good and was able to do 6 miles. 41:37 total time, so 6:56 average.

It was raining and I didn't want to fight it so I stayed inside on the treadmill and watched an episode of the District while I did my workout, which was good I think. I did some warmup and then did 4x5min segments with 2-2.5 minutes running recovery inbetween. I would guess they were around 6 minute pace or a little faster. I felt pretty good overall. I stopped and stretched, things were really tight. The hip flexor was still hurting, so I decided I better stop with 8 miles, and spend some time stretching and foam rolling rather than run more and make it worse. Other than that I felt better than I have lately, so it was a bittersweet run. Averaged 6:45 pace, so that was better too.

| | Did something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Went up to the track for a workout. Warmed up better than I have since the region track meet, haha.. I changed into my kinvaras and did some strides. Then I started into my 20x400s. I started running opposite direction and hitting 80s. It wasn't bad at first. I started to hit around 78s around 7-10. After 10 I got some water and changed into my matumbos. Then I went into my last ten. Slowest ones were 77-78 I think. The 16-19 were all around 5 minute pace, and then on my last one I busted out a 69. All of my recoveries were right on 60 seconds other than after 10 when I changed shoes. Had some back pain but it never slowed me down, probably because I was only doing 400s. Did an easy 11 minute cooldown and then stretched. Felt like my old self.

I ran 4xmile with 1-2 minutes recovery (based on feel). I went high 5:30s on the first three and closed in a 5:30. It was pretty solid. Then I changed into shoes and ran just over a mile out and met Zach, Bella, and Rob coming back. I ran their last two 500s with them. The first was a 1:51. Rob and I pushed the last 200 meters to try and really pull Bella along, I ran 1:41 on that one. After this week I'd be fine to just run with Bella in workouts, haha. Short barefoot cooldown with Zach. Abs (kinda) for the first time in a long time.

| Race: |
West Point 5k (3.18 Miles) 00:17:42, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | Warmed up and got feeling decent, it was a little slow start. I talked with Kevin Hansen and then Trace Fifield as I warmed up and changed into my kinvaras. Did a couple strides on the line, but not too many. They moved the start line back and we finished there, so the course was long this year.
The gun went off and I was in the front, ha I forgot getting off the line in road races aren't too critical. I sat in the middle of the pack for the first mile. We went through just under 5:40, but it's uphill. Things started to break up after that. Carson and Fess were in front with Trace right on them and then I was a stride or so off of them. They gapped me a little more by two miles, which that mile wasn't as fast as I thought it would be. I started to push after that and try to regain contact because they were all breaking up. I passed Fess on 800 and then went around the corner pretty strong. I realized I was gaining on Trace and could get him if I dug a little harder, so I did. Finally beat the old man fair and square! So I was 2nd overall about 10 seconds behind Carson, who ran really well. My time would have been about a 16:52 on the old course, which is 3 seconds faster than I ran last year. Not bad considering I haven't been putting in tons of miles or training super hard.
Went out and finished with Rhett in 25:50, he is awesome. Also finished with Justin in 35 something. His form looks like me at that age.. It was a fun morning.
