My legs were tired today, and especially my calf's they hurt. My pace was 08:14.56 overall. I think i will try to run tonight but not too much, i am thinking two miles or something. I am thinking about cutting back to 40 to 45 miles next week. I have a 5K race on Saturday. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading and have a good day.

Sorry, my bad. The race is next Satruday (8-30-08.) not this Saturday.

Evening: I felt really good running tonight, the reason why is because i slowed down. My pace was 8:57. Thanks for reading and have a Great night!!

I am so sorry your legs were hurting :( A cutback week will be great for your legs. Take it slow and enjoy it. Have fun on your 5k- and as for a suggestion, run fast, very fast ;) Sorry, the peanut gallery should refrain from comment!

If your running a 5k race Saturday then I wouldn't run anymore tonight. Tomorrow I would run 4 miles and 8 x 100m strides.

What 5k race is Saturday?

From Robert on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:19:48

I agree with wheakory. Take it easy and look back at you training log. You've come a long way and should keep that in mind throughout the 5K.

Sorry, i was talking about the Pocatello marathon next Saturday. I am running the 5k race then. But i think i will run 4 miles and 8 x 100m strides next week. Thanks for the help. Barry

I just want you to know that you are a very funny person. Have you ever thought about being a stand up comedian? This is my first time since high school that i have ran this much and i can feel the pain, but i will live. I think!! :)

From marion on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 20:02:28

You will live, but you might wish you haddn't ;) Just ALWAYS remember to listen to the "real" runners above and ignore the novice blog lurkers! Have a great weekend!

Barry! You are just coming back from an injury! Take it easy, I agree totally with Kory. Not so many miles yet as your injury may come back to haunt you buddy. Just my little bit on this...

From wheakory on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 21:47:25

Barry if I were you I would switch your race from the 5K to the Pocatello Half Marathon, because if you want to run the Boise Marathon this would be a good run for you.

Hay what do you suggest for me running the rest of the week. Steve thinks i am running to many miles. My plan was 60 miles this week and now i do not know what to do? Thanks, Barry

From marion on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 00:26:02

Hey if you are newly recovered, even I know you had better lay off!!! ;) If you take it really easy the rest of this week and next week, you can have an AWESOME 5k. "Runner legs" really like to run super fast when they have had a nice break ;D (break as in rest, not as in BROKEN in half)

From Robert on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:46:21

Barry, my comment wasn't meant to funny or so called "lurker" material. I was being serious. I just thought you should rejoice in the blessing you have been given since your injury (I've had plenty and can speak with experience). Forget about the weekly mileage game and reflect! We runners are hard on ourselves and don't spend enough time on the accomplishments made (mentally, physically, etc.). Instead we focus on what could have been or only if I did this or only if I ran more miles. I just thought you needed to think more about why you run, the bigger picture, and rejoice in the accomplishments made along the way (not just faster times or the numbers on the mileage board). Later.

Barry,

I'm running the Pocatello Marathon course tomorrow if your interested in coming up with me. I probably will run 13 easy miles, or less but for sure nothing more. I want to be up there by 7am. My wife will pick me up so you can run whatever and be picked up too. You ought to run the Pocatello HM next week.

Okay, I'll quite being pushy :-).

From barry on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 12:33:19

Thanks Kory, But i talked to Steve about my running today and tomorrow and he told me to only run between 3 - 5 miles per day. I understand what you are saying about running the half, but I have not trained on the course enough to feel like i am ready for it. I am thinking about running it next year where i can do some more training on the course. But thanks anyway.... Barry

Thanks, i do understand what you are saying and i am thinking about what i want from my running. Some things i am thinking about is 1)Praise God, 2)Loose Weight, and 3) be able to run with the front runners and keep up with them. But i am still thinking about what else i want from my running. But once again thanks for all your help

Barry
