16 miles at the Olympic Oval

*After finally turning in at 4:00 a.m. this morning I pulled my tired behind out of bed a little before 10:00 a.m. I looked at my phone and had a text from Matt saying I better hurry up and get my butt over to the Oval. That was just the extra push that I needed. :) Things just kept getting better from there. Right before walking out the door I got another text from my SSF!! She was going to the Oval as well! Then Rachel showed up with her! FUN TIMES!

*Ry and I took the kids to Macaroni Grill tonight for an early dinner. I could not believe what angels each one of them was!!! Seriously, five perfect angels!!!! 2011 is going to be a GREAT year!!!! So incredibly happy! :) :) :)

*Oh yeah ... was just browsing through my hubby's Men's Health magazine. Josh Holloway is the new Cool Water guy. DANG!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) (Do you think he will mind if I tear that page out and tape it to my mirror????)

Hmmmm ... not a great workout day at all. Ooops.

Began an easy run. My right lateral rotators have been misbehaving a bit. The hope was that they would loosen up and start minding after a couple of miles. They didn't, so untrue to my normal behavior I decided play it smart and get off the treadmill at 3 miles and hop on the elliptical. Had plans on doing more after I got home from the dentist today, but didn't. Maybe later tonight ... maybe not! :)

Sent a text to Matt. Hopefully he will be able to fit me in soon and realign my shifted hip/pelvis. :) :) :)

PARTY AT THE OVAL

I had SO much fun this morning. I was a bit nervous to run anything over six miles, but it was wonderful! I was especially grateful that Matt was willing to meet me at the Oval at six bells. (Thanks Matt -- I owe you BIG.) From the very get go it was a PARTY. So many people were there, including: Allie, Rick, John, Steve, Randy, Peggy, Mike, Rachel, Brent, Nate, and Darin. The miles went by so quickly. Allie joined Matt and me for a handful of miles. Afterwards Matt and I commented on how effortlessly she runs (but, of course, it was but a leisure stroll for her). :) :) :)

** Our home is fighting off the flu. So far Sophia, Payton, Oliver and I have been victimized. I got reallly sick Saturday evening and although am starting to feel better I still feel a bit crummy. My pace on the elliptical today was pathetic (very low caloric intake) but I am trying to trick my body into thinking it is well! :) :) :) The yoga felt nice but a little hard on the tummy.

My body is still not where I want it to be in regards to tightness, pain, etc.

My mode of operation seems to be to get everything close to under control and then run a bit too early and hurt something else by compensating my form. However, I am learning. :)

Going to continue with low impact crosstraining for a few more days.

** Why do I always forget how much I ** LOVE ** to swim laps? I think it has been about 6 months since I have done any swimming. Once I got in it felt like I was home. Seriously, there is something about swimming that completely soothes me. When I am finished I feel so so so good. I think there is something about the way it stretches my muscles (especially my core) and provides a very calm, relaxing and peaceful environment. I just put on some good R&B and enjoy the movement and moment.

* No problems to note. The first couple of miles I felt a small tugging at my right lateral rotators, but they all loosened up by mile 3. I really made an effort to run relaxed -- that seems wrong to coorelate effort and relaxed in the same sentence.  The kicker will be seeing how I feel in a few hours (especially considering I will be sitting through 4 hours of basketball). I am optimistic.  :) :) :)

**** My PT school interviews for the U are finally over!!! The last few days have been exciting and stressful. I have interviews in Philadelphia next, but I am trying to postpone them until I hear back from the U. Should be within a couple of weeks. I am beyond nervous ... it could go either way. There were some very top notch applicants. I feel honored to have been able to interview and will be checking my mailbox often! Keep your fingers crossed.  :)

I really wanted to get in close to 15 miles today but it didn't happen. I ran my first 7 miles w/an AP of 7:47 and then bang ... I felt a sharp pain in my anterior compartment. There are some pains that I know I am okay to run through, but my anterior compartment is not one of those. I turned off my watch. I finished with a super easy 3 mile jog. I haven't had any anterior compartment pain for close to 9 months, I'm not sure what happened. I came close to falling a couple of times while slipping on some black ice ... perhaps that was it. I felt fine once I got home, so that is good! I will see how I feel on Monday and take it from there. :)

*Went to Gold's this evening for what I thought was going to be a long swim. I was greeted with a sing the read: "Pool closed until Thursday. Sorry for the inconvenience." I decided to head over to the Rec Center. Hopped in the pool and began what I once again thought was going to be a long swim. Just when I hit 3/4ths of a mile a lifeguard signals to me as I am turning. I look around and notice nobody else was in the pool. DANG -- they were closed!!!!! It was only stinkin' 8:30 p.m.! Oh well ... at least I got wet! :)

*Anterior compartment still complaining a bit, but improving. :(

Felt like I wasn't getting enough oxygen. I'm sure it was related to my stinkin' cold. Luckily, I think I am at the tail end of it! :)

* Was tempted to run since my leg was feeling quite well today. Decided to stick with my plan of not running today and Wednesday. I'm kind of proud of myself but kind of disappointed at the same time. I can feel my running fitness slipping a bit. My hope is that it will come back quickly if I can get my body feeling the way it should. I hope I am making the right move but only time will tell. :)
