** Why do I always forget how much I ** LOVE ** to swim laps? I think it has been about 6 months since I have done any swimming. Once I got in it felt like I was home. Seriously, there is something about swimming that completely soothes me. When I am finished I feel so so so good. I think there is something about the way it stretches my muscles (especially my core) and provides a very calm, relaxing and peaceful environment. I just put on some good R&B and enjoy the movement and moment.

It makes me happy to hear how you love swimming and how swimming loves you! You are a mermaid in another life!

I miss you, too.

Oh man...now I gotta beat you. OK, so next week, my 1 mile swim has be 39 mins or faster. Thanks for giving me a reference point, it will help me have a better workout!

I totally agree, it feels SO good to be all stretched out in the pool. I love it.

From Teena Marie on Thu, Jan 13, 2011 at 22:45:08 from 67.2.113.131

You are so stinkin' cute, Brooke!!!!

When I was swimming at least twice a week I felt so much stronger. I really need to get back at it. It often seems like a hassle, but it is so worth it!!! I need to remind myself of that more often. Thank you for leading the way!!! :) :) :)

From glidergirl on Thu, Jan 13, 2011 at 22:47:44 from 155.97.238.134

That's funny you say 2 times per week, because I think I have already decided that once I start running again I'm going to keep swimming twice a week. I agree, it is a hassle...the time, the wetness, the chlorine smell... etc, but it does feel good! I think I want to do a cycling class twice a week as well.

Maybe this injury wasn't so bad afterall... =0)

I have always said that the best thing that came out of my pelvis stress fracture is that I learned how to swim!!!

It is super fun to do your own triathlon sprint at the gym!!! :) :) :)

(We should do some together!)

**Let's talk Smooth into learning how to swim!!! WE WOULD HAVE SO MUCH FUN!!!!

From DonGardinero on Thu, Jan 13, 2011 at 22:57:15 from 184.224.237.203

If I could get past being terrified of deep water, I'm sure I would enjoy it, too. Did you say there are videos on youtube that can give me Some basic beginner swimming lessons?

Dale~

I just like this clip a TON: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJpFVvho0o4

However, you can buy a book called Total Immersion Swimming. It is AWESOME!!!!

From glidergirl on Thu, Jan 13, 2011 at 23:07:43 from 155.97.238.134

I would LOVE to do a tri sprint at the gym with you guys. SMOOTH, LEARN TO SWIM NOW! And I bet we could talk Matt into competeing in our tri sprint as well. He has done some triathlons, so I'm sure he'd be game.

Dale, where do you live? The pool at the 24 hour fitness only goes to 5 ft and it has 3 lanes, it's not nearly as creepy as the huge pools.

From DonGardinero on Thu, Jan 13, 2011 at 23:12:49 from 184.224.237.203

I live in Roy, near Ogden. I'll probably have to swim at the Clearfield aquatic center. Not sure how deep that is.

From Smooth on Thu, Jan 13, 2011 at 23:13:06 from 67.232.119.27

Man, I got off the computer for a minute and look what happens! Yah right, learn to swim NOW!!! Isn't it WINTER?!!! SSF, have you forgotten that I SINK and really stink at anything resembling death by immersion??!!! :) :) :) :)

From DonGardinero on Thu, Jan 13, 2011 at 23:16:59 from 184.224.237.203

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out...and the book, too!!!

SSF~

You just need to relax and not panic!!!! :) :) :) Practice in your bathtub if you have to. Put your face in, relax, tilt your head take a breath and put it right back!!!! :) :) :)

Seriously, let's get you some private lessons from someone who knows what they are doing. :)

Brooke~

AWESOME idea!!!!

Dale~

Get on it so you can join us!!!! :)

Just curious, what do you wear when you go swimming? A swim suit? I wet suit? I have no idea. Do you wear one of those things over your head? I'm clueless

From watchmerun on Fri, Jan 14, 2011 at 00:46:56 from 24.10.152.45

Triathlons? Are you girls crazy? Has someone forgot that we are planning to RUN FOUR MARATHONS this year! Heavens! I get nervous just thinking about it. But, seriously, triathlons are very fun. I have done both Sprint and Olympic distance. I am a terrible swimmer but I think swimming is the easiest part. Just put on your wetsuit and thrash around until you arrive at the finish.

From RAD on Fri, Jan 14, 2011 at 02:39:18 from 67.172.229.125

I love to swim and be in the water, but I HATE to be wet (out of the water). Honestly, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me - blech!! I can't even imagine having to bike and run all wet and yucky with my hair all tangled and wet and wrinkly feet and hands...I need to stop thinking about it! However, if I had a locker room to shower and dry off in afterward and could do the bike and run first, I would be game for the tri -not that anyone invited me, I'm inviting myself :)

Oh, excellent work on the x-training Teena! I'm glad to see things working together so well.

From glidergirl on Fri, Jan 14, 2011 at 10:21:43 from 155.97.238.134

I say we do a reverse tri in November/December when the slam is done, we need a change of pace and the weather is yucky, that would be fun!

Rachel, I'm with you, so I say we do running first, biking 2nd and swimming last. And of course you're welcome to come.

From Rhett on Fri, Jan 14, 2011 at 15:24:03 from 74.32.222.21

Great job swimming. I'm glad someone likes it that much.
