2 big lifts in the weight room

1 hour spinning class.  The teacher's music bugs, she never changes it up so I brought my Ipod to listen to.  I hope that didn't bother her too bad.  Her workout was pretty boring too so I did my own.

10 minutes of sit ups

10 minutes of deep stretching

I was reading about the particular SF that I have.  It's a split in my Tibia (lower inside calf bone).  Sounds like that particular injury takes 8-12 weeks to heal.  I am on week 7!  At least I am on the downward slope, right?  I am still frustrated, eager to run, and ready to train hard for the Ogden Half.

God sometimes holds us back for particular reasons.  I am not sure if I know what his reason is yet.  I am willing to take off a year of running if it is required of me.  I need to focus on listening to my body and ENJOYING what my body is capable of doing.

Tonight I teared up when Lindsey Vonn won the gold for the downhill ski.  In the back of my mind my marathon goal was reignited.  I wish my leg would just start working now so I will be capable of achieving that goal in the not so distant future.  I have a long road ahead of me.

I could have written your post! I too have a stress fracture in my tibia and heel. I'm on week 6. It is KILLING me to not run.

But I think how lucky I am that it is not broken and will heal. I am not running in an Olympic race or as a professional athlete or collegiate scholarship may be pending.

I still have lots of time to run and I can learn and grow from this (and hopefully become stronger in cross training)!

Barlow,

Thanks for that comment! What is going on with us? That dang tibia! Did you see a doctor or are you just waiting it out like me? It's in your heel too? Does it hurt when you walk on it?

My Xtraining is getting on my nerves, but it's great learning new sports.

Bec ~ Welcome back to blogging. Keep up the GREAT attitude and AWESOME workouts. Yes, you will achieve your goals. You're one of the most driven girl I ever know. Wasn't that great to watch all those Olympians compete? So inspiring!

Thanks for the motivation Smooth. Sometimes it's hard to see the positive side to struggles that we go through. I love watching the Olympians compete, they have so much drive!

I did go to a sports medicine doctor and they did a bone scan. I've been wearing a brace and it makes it feel alittle better (or maybe it is just in my head).

But it is still sore. You a week ahead of me - is yours still sore? Does it hurt when you ride a bike?

Mine never hurts unless I am putting impact on it. As a dance teacher it's pretty difficult not to jump. (That is when I feel it).

I never went to a doctor because I am afraid they will do what they did last time. -Nothing- But I have wondered about the brace.
