3:00pm Kym had surgery today so I spent the morning at the hospital and two of my daughters brought me starbucks mochas so I was pretty jacked up on caffeine for this run. I had big plans to pick up Jake after school, do a fast 15 while he went to the library for a while and then get us both back to the hospital. Had I not been overdressed and underhydrated that might have actually happened. It was sunny and 63° so my sweats and long sleeves were definitely overkill and once the coffee wore off at about 9 miles I was dried out and done. The last two miles were really tough. It was only the lure of cold water that kept me moving the rest of the way home.

4:30am Oh snap! (that was for Wes). This was the best I've felt during a run in a long time. I really thought about doing another 10 and going in to work late.

5:00am I spent most of this run worrying about my shoulder problem. A friend drove by and honked this morning and it hurt when I raised my arm to wave to him. Yesterday I also noticed that it hurt to reach for my back pocket. It seems like I'm losing some mobility and putting surgery off until spring might not be such a good idea.

4:30am There was a huge windstorm last night that knocked the power out and left the roads littered with branches. The wind was still blowing hard this morning so between that and all the debris on ground, I was moving a little slower than usual. See if you can tell where the driver in an oncoming car blinded me with his high beams just seconds before I tripped over a fallen branch... | | 6:30pm My legs were feeling a little heavy tonight, probably from all the fast, well, faster than usual miles this week. I'll probably go easy tomorrow, then take two days off before the Turkey Trot 5k on sunday.

| | 5:00am My legs are still feeling pretty dead. I meant to go easy this morning, but it was so cold I had to speed up a little just to keep from freezing. I decided to make it a short run instead of a slow one. I hope a couple days off will put some spring back in my step for the turkey trot.

2:00pm My PR streak is officially over :( I broke 20 again, but fell 6 seconds short of last year's time and was a looong way from sub 19. I thought I started out too fast because I was keeping pace with Jason who is usually a sub 18 finisher. I didn't bother to check my garmin or I would have realized he was just running slower than usual, so I backed off a little when I should have been pushing harder. During the second mile I knew it was feeling too easy, but I just didn't feel like pushing it and the pavement was getting a little slick from the snow so that's all the excuse I needed to wimp out in the effort department. It was still a fun race even without the PR I hoped for. My friend Paul brought his whole family out to participate and all four of them placed in their age groups! Paul and I also won turkeys in the raffle. It was a good day for sure! Now I'm off to watch Machete with my son-in-law. Distance Split pace 1.00 6:14 2.00 6:34 3.00 6:25 3.10 5:44

Shiverin' snotcicles batman! It's cold out there! Tried to take it easy, but I had to keep moving fast enough to keep warm. I don't think I actually broke a sweat until I got back inside. The lumpy compact snow and ice made it a lot tougher than usual. I feel more like I ran 20.

8:45am It warmed up to 37° and was even slicker than yesterday! I was only about 50 yards from my door when I slipped and fell, it was a quick tuck and roll across the parking lot and somehow I came up on my feet still "running" sort of. I thought about just calling it quits after that, but I haven't missed a thanksgiving morning run since I started running. Slow and easy was the plan for the rest of this one except for a few spots where the pavement was bare. I saw lots of other runners out there earning their sweet potatoes :)
