No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

8:00am 1Chronicles 22 - 2Chronicles 8

First solo run in almost two months(sept 9). I had an hour to burn so I set the display on my watch to just show the time and ran out for 31 minutes before turning around. I got back home in 1:00:59 and covered 7.81 miles. My foot was still complaining most of the way, but not as bad as last week running slower with Karina. I noticed today that I am definitely landing more on the mid to fore foot than I used to. I'm not sure what that means, I haven't made any conscious attemt to change my stride.

1:00pm McMinnville, OR 2Chronicles 9 - Ezra 7

Kym is Judging a speech and debate tournament at Linfield College so I came down with her for the weekend. Free hotel, hot tub, continental breakfast, peace and quiet :)
I went out for a nice run with no distance goals in mind, I just wanted to explore the area. It was 40° and sunny when I left the hotel. I ran around a great woodchip trail covered with a thick bed of leaves at Joe Dancer Park, then through town and out some nice quiet twisty roads. When I circled back towards the hotel I realized that I had been running with the wind at my back and some thick black clouds had been moving in behind me. Within a few minutes it was raining and hailing pretty hard and somehow I missed a turn that added several miles to my route. Eventually after asking someone for directions I found my way back into town and loitered inside the Les Schwab tire store feasting on free popcorn and hot coffee until I could feel all my fingers again.(Thanks Les!) I was only a couple miles away from the hotel at this point, but it was still hailing and when my new friend Ralph offered to give me a ride I couldn't say no.

12:00pm Ezra 7 - Nehemiah 8

Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Run far, eat much and be thankful you can.

It's been two weeks since I jacked up my hammie, I couldn't walk straight for three days and didn't even think about running until today. I was not going to miss earning my turkey for the tenth consecutive year. It was a short run, but I got er dun. I actually felt pretty good until 2.5 miles when my hammie and my foot both started acting up so I turned around and headed for home. My foot eased up as I got closer to home, not so much for the hamstring.
