| | 10:00am I've been sick all week, and it felt good to finally get out. For a while it did anyway. The first 4 felt pretty easy and I expected to speed up on the last 5. I ran into Kym and Karina in the park and ran about half of mile 5 with them, after that I just couldn't get back up to speed. The harder I tried the slower and more nauseous I got. At least I got some miles in. I'm sure it will be better tomorrow.

Today's run started good and then got pretty hard again for the last half, but not as bad as yesterday. I managed to keep a much steadier pace.

4:30am brrrr, it was a chilly 46° out this morning. That cool air helped my run a lot, my pace was faster and my HR lower than it has been in a couple weeks. My foot is the same, painful to walk, but ok when running.

I got a cortisone shot in my foot yesterday (ouch). Now it hurts from getting the shot, but the pain that I got it for is gone. If the nerve pain comes back the doc recommended surgery :( Speaking of surgery, my shoulder was acting up for the first time during a run today. That has me a little worried and if it keeps up I may have to get it fixed before Boston too. I have some torn cartilage in my shoulder that needs repair, but until now running hasn't aggrivated it at all. I'm worried that the recovery time or any complications from the surgery might screw up my training for Boston and I'd rather wait If I can. Oh yeah, my run... It was great! You should have been there. Perfect morning, around 50°, no wind, no rain, no traffic, just great. Holy guacamole! I don't know if it was the new socks or the new Carne Asada-Bake I had for lunch at Costco, but I just ran my fastest 10 miler ever! (I beat my 10k PR by 3 seconds per mile) It's more likely that I was just inspired by Preston's 2:57:54 finish in Portland today. He PR'd by 17 minutes! I've got to step up my game or he might need to find a new running buddy that can keep up.

I'm definitely getting sick, my voice is going and my chest is congested. I'm glad I went anyway, the cool air felt really good. I took it easy and paid no attention to my watch during the run. I ran Farwest hill twice instead of my usual Oakbrook loop. There's no street lights in Oakbrook and it's just too dark to see where I'm going now.

| | 4:30am I was really fading after 7 miles, then at around 10 I ran into Preston and headed back out Farwest with him adding an extra 2 miles to my day. I just realized I started this run less than 9 hours after yesterday's run. No wonder I felt so sluggish.

| | 10:30am I thought about doing a long run today since I had some extra time, but I figured my Tuesday night/Wednesday morning double was enough of a stretch for this week. This is the first time I've cracked 200 miles in a month since March. If I run again this weekend it will be my highest mileage month since May of '09.
