FSRC Resolution Run 5k (3.1 Miles) 00:19:23, Place overall: 10, Place in age division: 4
9:00am 17°
Somehow they didn't get finish times for anybody in the race so all I have is my garmin for an unofficial PR time. The course was also a bit long since they changed it to go around the far side of the library, so subtracting .1 off either end of this course would have given me the sub-19 I was jonesin' for (18:48). Maybe I'll do the 5k instead of the 20k at the end of the series and try to make it official.
Overall it was still a fun morning. Kym, Karina, and Danny ran it with me and I even beat a couple of more experienced, talented, and younger runners that I've been looking up to for a long time. What a great way to start the year!
Next up... sub 40:00 10k on 1/22

UPDATE: "Official" results are up now. I'm not sure how they determined the times, but they have me down for 19:23 instead of 19:15 and still 4th out of 10in my age division. That is still better than last year so I can't complain about a new PR on a long course. I'm 2nd in my division out of the 5 that registered for the whole series and Dale was first of those. Looks like he's gonna steal my thunder this year. Go Dale!

4:30am Lev. 27 - Num. 16 There was about 3" of snow and slush today. The screw shoes worked great, but I was still pretty slow. I forgot how tough it is to run in the snow, I could feel it in my calves by the 5th mile.

| | 1:00pm Deut. 8-27 10 miles at the Y on the indoor track. I always run faster on this track I don't know if it is a little short or if the springy rubber floor just makes it easier. Too bad the GPS won't work in there so I could see how it compares to outside. Either way, I really like that sub-6 last mile :)

FSRC Resolution Run 10k (6.2 Miles) 00:39:40, Place overall: 9, Place in age division: 2
9:00am Woo Hoo! Sub 40! This was an honest sub 40 for sure given that the course is over by .1 just like the 5k course. FWIW, my time was 39:01 when I hit 6.2 on my garmin. My goal pace for today was 6:26. I messed up my plan right out of the gate and essentially ran my last mile first by trying to keep up with Preston. After I saw my first split I slowed up a little, but I still felt pretty good at the second split (6:15) so I thought for a minute about just sticking with it, but then decided to fall back to my goal pace for mile 3. The first part of the 4th mile is the toughest part of the course with a few good inclines where I fell off pace and lost a few seconds. No worries though, I had some time in the bank due to my fast start. The second half of the course is mostly flat and downhill overall so I managed to pull off a negative split by a few seconds with 19:57 out 19:43 back. I had a decent kick at the end even though there was nobody within reach after I passed the 10th place guy during mile 6. I finished a full minute faster than last year, took 2nd place in my AG, and smoked the whole 35-39 AG again where Preston took first about 2 minutes behind me! I passed him just after the turnaround. Old guys rule :) Karina and Danny both placed 2nd in their AG and Kym came in 4th for hers. It was a fun morning for the Davis/Aguillon family. Next race: 15k on Feb 26

4:30am Judges 8 - 1 Samuel 2 Easy run. My right hamstring is still a little sore from Saturday, but not too bad. It was better towards the end of the run than it was at first. The morton's neuroma in my left foot is also bugging be again. I may have to go back to the doc for that.

| | 9:30am 2Samuel 3 - 1Kings 2 Shooting for 20 again and my foot was hurting enough that I turned back towards home at 14 miles. It was fine until about 10 miles and then slowly got worse until I couldn't stand it any more. It hurts on the ball of my left foot just behind my 3rd and 4th toes. I'm going to try putting the gel pads back in my shoes and cutting out a small piece right there to relieve some pressure from that spot until I can get back to the podiatrist. Other than that I felt great! I changed up my route a little bit and added a lap around the lake before each trip up Farwest hill. I am lucky to live so close to such a great park.

| | 8:30am 1Kings 2 - 1Kings 19 The gel pads seemed to help the pain in my foot a little, but it still got pretty sore after about 11 miles. I think I need to make the cutout a little bigger, I'll try that for tomorrow.
