Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

AM treadmill. Bitter cold outside. Didn’t run for a week because I had a lot of work Friday and Saturday and I got very ill, flu symptoms, late Saturday night. This treadmill run was OK but my watch is always way different than the treadmill. I use watch stats.

AM Mesa. 9:06, 9:00, 9:33, 9:34, and 9:22 with 58 sec. 47:32 with 9:18 pace. HR 132. Max VO2 increased to 50 again. I enjoyed running in the warmth and mostly flat the last two days. Micah and Kaylonnie’s wedding was very nice. I am learning that I don’t sleep well when I am not in my own bed.
