Very easy. Heart rate avg 143.   9:26 avg pace.  Around my neighborhood.  Not sore at all from half marathon Saturday.  Like not a single bit. During half I did feet a twang in left inner hamstring.  Did some kickbacks while running the race and focused on better footing.  It went away    That was about mile 5.

2 easy.  With some incline added second (3%) mile.   Then rest. Water. Bathroom.  Then 1.08 miles hill pick ups to 7:47-7:41 pace. 5 x 30 -35 seconds.  Then last mile on fav tm. Started at 8 pace.  Then to 7:47 before two picks up at 713 pace for 0.15 miles. Then 703 for 0.15 miles. 756 for mile as this tm takes a bit to get to a pace.

Drive down was fun with Brooke and David singing halloween songs. Courtney beside me reading.  Got there just after 2pm. Expo at 430 pm.   So lucky to have David's family host us in their lovely home. VERY LOVELY! best views of saint george ever. WOW> JUST WOW!

Dinner at Georges for Brookes Birthday.

taco salad, black beans chicken cheese, taco shell.  pb on bread later that night.

very very hot outside.  99 degrees.  wow.  just wow.

cooler at night.  am able to wear sweats at top.

warm spots in first 7 miles.  felt controlled on pace.  saw veyo and was like shoot.

did that hill in 8:49.    then recovered well and ended at half at 1:45:52.  not pushing it at all.

then mile 13 fine was excited to get to mile 15 finally and then idk what hit me.

i had eaten a built bar at 5 am.  banana at 6 am.  had four gus in my pocket.  got water at first few stations and gatorade once.  drank maybe an ounce or two at each.

i decided while running to take my gu every 5 miles.  so mile 5.  then 10 then 15/16 almost forgot.  didn't even think about taking my forth gu???? ooops  maybe that was the problem???????   totally forgot in my stupor.

i took two ibuprofen  before bed (achy all day and a head ache so took two while driving as well). Took two more at mile 10.  Then two more at mile 16 when I just was achy in lots of joints.

so toward mile 17 i walked the first time.  wow. what is happening.  losing site of my goal.  more panic and lots more heat.

mile 18 walked a lot more. 11 min mile. what the heck?? met sue ann who was also struggling. met her first time here at mile 18-19.  i tried to motivate her to start jogging again not care about pace. she stayed with me 1/2 mile or so until next aid station and i just kept moving and she didn't.   honestly after that negativity was my friend and i couldn't turn it around,   totally forgot to take a gu at mile 20.  that probs would have helped.  heart rate was 190 a lot so continued to stop and walk.  last part of my walk was last mile before the right hand turn.  just what on earth is going on with me????

i started pouring water over my head from third station on and by end I was dumping two to three cups over me and going through every mister and grabbing ice bags two times and placing some in my shirt.  one at mile 24, next mile 25.  just felt good to hold the ice in my hand in the plastic bag and put one or two pieces in my mouth.

i had no idea 2nd and third place in my age were passing me.  I for sure thought i was like 100th.  first came in at 3:41.  second and third two seconds from each other 3:43:47and 49.  me 3:45:20.fifth at 3:46:40.  they give plaques five deep.  used to be 8 deep until they added the half two years ago so now they go three deep in half, five in full.  I was happy and lucky to get one. i have 8 total from running sg 16 times.

anyway really rough go for me.  heart rate was main issue.  needed to really take in the fluids then just an ounce.  when i got to last five stations i gulped tripple the amount.  too little too late.

hamstring pulled at mile 15 and really scared me.  picking up pace was painful.  maybe it saved me as well because heart rate was way too high i may have collasped.  hamstring was reaason i first slowed even more.  before that point i was just achy in joints.  breathing good.  i was lonely however and a lot of  demons exist on that course for me and so if you add in massive heat wave you got recipe for a bonk for this old brod.

I WAS trained for a 3:20 so this feels like an epoch fail.  but I told myself when it was happening that i can't beat myself up because i could not do any different than what i was doing right then, that's how bad i felt.  so bad i had to mske sure i took a mental note of helping myself realize i could not have done better with how i showed up for that exaxt moment in time. BUT i can improve my reaction and attitude and not give up on my goals.

so next up so winter pace gigs and maybe race or two after 10 days off of running. then boston 2025 and guess what?? UTAH VALLEY MARATHON 6.5 weeks later.  Boston i plan to take easy.  UV try for 3:30.  thats all nothing too push.  then back to sg for half?? or can i really repeat the marathon and get that negative split that was doomed this past saturday.  First half 1:45:52.  Second half 1:59:28.  Wow just wow. so unbelievably slow for me on a down hill course.  but walking 13 times in 9 miles i guess that's not bad.  here are the  gruesome splits from my coros watch=

747, 759. 737. 741. 743. 735, 729, 849, 814, 809, 829,823, 745

759, 7:48, 747, *900, 902,1012,949, 857, 1025, 914, 854, 936, 949, AND 925 LAST 0.2 (26.33 MY WATCH)

I NEVER WANT TO BONK AGAIN EVER
