I have five cute kids. And I have some rockin short green racing shorts- I wear them mainly because it embarrasses my wife so much. I like ultimate frisbee, trail running, reading, and cheering for the Denver Broncos!   And I have the absolute best wife in the world.  And I used to run for the now-disbanded national Team Pearl Izumi- Ultra!

AM- 10. First by myself, then with Jason, then Todd and Jason, then just Jason, then by myself, then with Scott. Perfect morning weather for a run- in the 50's, a bit breezy, not too humid. Felt wonderful. The baby geese and their overprotective parents are all over the GE track so makes running laps a bit of an adventure.

Lunch- about 5 miles with Jim, then an hour of frisbee. 7 v 8 on our crowded field. The wind was doing strange things and we weren't playing great. I dropped at least 3 passes right in my hands.

AM perfect 50 deg weather. Ran 12 miles, a little more tired than past Saturdays. 1:29.

Looking at some FRB numbers- over 2700 of the blogs have not been updated for 3+ years, while 1200 have been updated in that time. Fewer than 600 have been updated within the past year. There's almost 4000 FRB addresses, and less than 10% have been updated this year. Interesting to see how few runners are still using this site. I wonder how many have stopped running entirely vs. how many are now on Strava. From what I can tell, the largest active group now is Utah high school runners.

AM- flying to Indiana for work trip today, so ran this morning. It was pretty slow. I think most miles were 7:45-8:15 or so. I did 1:28, so I'll call it 11 miles. Last day with these test shoes today, but they already sent me another pair to wear and review.

AM- 8 miles in Terre Haute, IN. Ended up running by a minimum security prison and the wastewater treatment facility. I wouldn't suggest this route as the "best of Terre Haute" running tour. I spent a month here during HS. Feels kind of like a run down town.

am 7 tm

I've been having a terrible time sleeping again. Stress, I think. I wake up most days before 5 am, often 3 am. I'm tired in the evenings, but often toss and turn for hours before falling asleep. Right now, for example, I've been awake since 4 am Fri morning and it's 2:15 am Sat morning. I'm conducting an unintentional experiment of one to see the impacts of 3-5 hrs sleep for weeks on end. This can't end well.

AM- After my 3 hours of sleep, I finally got up and went running. Beautiful sunny day, mid-50's. Right away, I felt a lot more energetic than the past few days. Ran out to Georgia Rd area, as usual. Gmap-pedometer puts my run at 11.0006 miles- I guess my internal odometer of where to turn around for 5.5 miles is pretty darn accurate. Averaged 7:11 for the run. Now I get to go set up tables and chairs at the church, take kids to a birthday party, and spend the day from 4 pm on at the church for Stake Conference. We've got a 70 coming, so I'm pretty excited. Now I just have to hope I can stay awake.

PM- PM with Barry and Seth. It rained all day but let up mid afternoon so we were muddy and humid, but dry (other than sweat). I was really dragging today. We did the short loop, only 8 miles. Still took almost 90 min.

AM- 10. It rained pretty hard last night but stopped before dawn. I ran 10 somewhat slow miles on GE track. No other runners on the track, just a bunch of canadian geese with their goslings. Some of the parents are pretty aggressive so I have to reroute.

AM 10 in 74 minutes. Cool but humid (60 deg, 95% humidity)

My home computer died last night. Refused to start windows. Reimaged drive, now having to fix everything. The good news is that I have an external hard drive that I had not backed up to for a year, but did just last week.

My last 5 weeks have all been 57-60 miles. Pretty consistent. One of these days I'll slowly start upping that up to 70 miles, mainly by adding to my Saturday run. Hopefully that little boost in mileage will help the 10 extra pounds I'm carrying to start coming off.

AM- GE track run. Nice weather. I felt good, so decided to do my second speed work of the year (other than the ultimate frisbee I play). I ran 3x1 track lap (.68 mile) with .5 lap recovery. Times were 4:24, 4:20, 4:17 (6:28-6:18). Nothing spectacular, but you gotta start somewhere. 8 miles total.

Lunch- good game of ultimate, though I dove several times on gumballs so am all scratched up.

I actually was able to sleep in till 6:30 am today. This is the first time I've slept past 5 am in a long while.

PM- solo run at PM. Kind of warm. Felt ok, not great. Didn't see many people on the trail. Always great to get a trail run in. My last trail run ever with glasses, I hope. Lasik surgery on Thursday, then a week of no running, then a week in Switzerland.
