| PM- PM with Seth, Barry, and, for the first time in a year or so, Merle. Seth and Barry dropped off after 4 miles. Warm today, 70 deg or so. Nice day. We moved quick but I felt pretty good.

| PM- PM. Instead of Barry and Seth, it was Eddie and Merle. Eddie's doing his first 100 in a few weeks, so we talked about that most of the time. It was the hottest run of the year so far, already 80 deg. Didn't feel too bad, though. Usual 10 miles 1:38.

| Lunch- snake day. Right as I started running, I saw what looked like a small dead snake on the GE track. As I went to poke it, I decided better and grabbed a stick. Then a longer stick. I poked the little critter (maybe 18 inches long) and it was very much alive. It started slithering off the track, then curled up in stricking position. Inspection by the 3 of us out there led to the conclusion that it was a timber rattlesnake. I'm glad it didn't bite me. A few minutes later, we saw a big (2.5 or 3 feet long) black rat snake in the middle of the road. Jim jumped over this one. Ran 10.5 miles or so on another hot day- not as bad as the record 86 deg high yesterday, but still warm today.

| Lunch- 10 miles. There was some sort of accident on Dublin at the sharp corner and the road was closed (someone said there were bodies in the road, another said power lines down, so who knows), so we ran the GE trails and track instead. Colder today, in the 40's. Last week was in the 70's and 80's.

| AM- lots of lunch meetings, so morning run. 50-ish, felt great. First few miles with Dan, then the rest by myself. My neck and back have been very painful for a few days (like the pulled muscle, can't move kind of pain), and the run didn't help it. I wanted 6-10 miles, ended up stopping at 7. Good times.

| AM- in Charleston on vacation for a few days. Ran around Mount Pleasant and over the huge Ravanel bridge. It's a pretty cool bridge. 8 miles, an hours.

| AM- second day around Charleston. This time I ran to Shem Creek boardwalk, then the Mount Pleasant nature trail, and some roads. Another hour. We had a great trip- perfect weather, lots of walking around, kids were generally good.

| Lunch- due to rain tomorrow, we played frisbee today. I ran a bit first, then we had 3 vs 4. I was on the 3, so lots of running. However, my sore back/neck really acted up and I've been incredible pain ever since. I can barely move. Ouch. I'm not sure I'll even be able to go to work tomorrow.
