"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

3 miles - tm

not funny

WT - 3 miles

a couple of funny stats for 2018:

- i ran 890 miles in the first 7 months of the year (127 miles per month avg)

- i ran 168 miles in the last 5 months of the year (33 miles per month avg)

- longest run was 13.1 miles at the beginning of july

- longest week was 47 miles towards the end of july

- longest month was 151 miles in july

- then it was all downhill from there! lol

still ran more miles this year than last (which was my lowest mileage year in 9 years!). but i have been skiing more the last couple of years and also got back into some kayaking last summer. this last summer i also spent quite a bit more time than usual improving the landscaping  and other house projects, which involved a lot of physical work and was also very rewarding! so i guess i'm achieving some semblance of balance physically and mentally which seems important. i do miss being really fit and able to knock out 12 milers on a whim - maybe i'll get back to that in the next year or two -

in any event there's a lot to be grateful for as i peer over the precipice of 2019 - happy new year to one and all - it's sure to be a good one!

1058 miles is nothing to sneeze at! Good job setting and reaching your goals this year! I can hardly wait to see what you've got planned for the new year ahead! Happy New Year to you and yours and may the New Year be the best ever!
