"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Hey, I went back and read the last few weeks of your blog. You've been doing good! Good steady miles, AND it's important that you're listening to your body!

On a side note, I feel ya on your comment about reading your blog from 2009. My best year was 2010, I think...and I don't even know that person anymore!

But life is still good, just different! I try not to get too down about not really caring that much about running. It's freeing in a way that I can't quite explain!

thanks Tracy - yeah it's easier to listen to your body when you're in your 50's, it speaks LOUDER.

actually i'm still reading my past blog, i'm about half way through 2011...i kept running more and more, and then i ran everyday in 2012 and sort of blew up after that. i have since truly embraced that freeing feeling of not caring about running that you mention. but now after several years of "faux" running i feel ready to get after it again, adjusting and accepting that running will be a little different because of my rapidly advancing decrepitude.

(the word "running" was used 4 times in that last paragraph, for those keeping track at home)

anyway, happy days, thanks for your comment it's good to hear from you
