12.4 miles for the day. Slept in a little this morning. Got lucky with an overcast, not too hot.

Speed work today. Just 4 miles of 1 mile repeats today. I'm liking this ramping down stuff.

Warm up of 3 miles.

First speed mile @ 5:31

Mile 2 @ 5:24

Mile 3 @ 5:19

Mile 4 @ 5:14

Cool down.

Finished the workour as always with weights, push and pull ups and the heavy bag.

A good workout. Maybe I'll try my luck at catfishing today.

Legs a little tired and sore today. Most likely from yesterdays speed with a combination of last weeks 90 miles.

It was an easy day. Nice and slow. Finished the last couple of miles around 6:30's.

A good 12 mile run this morning.

Warm up followed by a 6 mile tempo.  Very happy with the results.  Pushing a hill the first couple, finished with an average time  of 5:55 per mile.

The last three I really wanted to get my pace under a 6 minute time, so I ran a 5:53, 5:58 and a 5:14.

The last mile a truck pulled along side of me and said, " Is someone in trouble" no I responded, "then why are you running so fast".

"How old are you, and do you have a girlfriend"?  I responded by saying I am 33 and am married.  The girl in the passengers side said, "but do you have a girlfriend".

I couldn't remember Bill's phone number to save my life.  Sorry Bill, she looked like she was looking for love.

As they left he said "Dude your hauling A_ _ !!,"  "Keep it up".

It's little experience like that, that make one feel better about their performance.  I believe I've got my speed back and confidence.  I'm getting exited for Logan.

Vomero 270 miles.

10 easy miles this morning. Pretty sore starting out, I'm sure from the speed of yesterday. After about 4 miles I loosened up and it felt pretty smooth.

I caught myself wanting to push the pace a little the last 3. I had to remind myself to stick to the game plan and that the speed was already done for the week.

12 easy miles this morning. Took about 4 1/2 miles to warm up. After that, I felt pretty good. The last three was a pretty good pace, nothing too fast.

Glad to be done for the week. I'm going to back off another 20 miles for next week. The body is still tired from last weeks 90 and this weeks 70. I don't want to get to the starting line over trained.

8 miles today.  2 miles of speed.  Nothing too outstanding, but I'm  trying to rest a little with Logan next week.

Hit the weights, push and sit ups, heavy bag.  I may have worked the arms a little too hard between the weights, push ups and this weeks wake boarding.

Finally perfected the switch on the wake board yesterday.

Left hip a little sore for the last couple of days.  I don't think it's anything to worry about.

8 miles this morning.

5 easy miles, followed by 3 miles @ tempo.  Tried really hard not to push the pace too much.  Ended up running in a pretty good head wind at a relaxed easy pace of 6:07 average per mile pace for three  miles.

No more speed or tempo for me until race day.  It's all about rest, not eating too much and recovery from here on out.

My bodies used to running much more a day right now, so it thinks it should be able to eat the same amount on half the work.  This is probably the hardest thing for me.

About mid week next week, I'll start packing on the carbs, but not too soon.

10 easy miles this morning.  Just a few more days of easy running, and here come Logan!!!!!

I've really worked my butt off this training season.  I hope all those long miles pay off.  If not, there is no way I'm running 15 miles a day again.

Run, work, sleep is all I've had time or energy for the last 6 months or so.  It's going to be nice to get a break.

6 easy miles this morning.  Nice and cool.  It got me thinking that the TOU might actually be cold at the start.  I haven't had to think about cold weather in a long time.

2 miles kicked my butt this morning.  I thought I would never be done.  Just kidding.  I almost felt guilty only running two.  I never even broke a sweat.

No more miles until the marathon!!!!  I've got a lot of mixed emotions and stratagies about the race going on inside my head right now.  Hopefully I get it all figured out before the race Saturday morning.

I'm headed up to SLC tonight to stay with my brother and Friday night I'll stay at a hotel in Logan.

I can't believe it's finally here.  I've worked so hard for so long.  I hope it pays off.

I know my wife is going to be happy to see me back off for awhile on the miles.  She says I'm always tired.

Nice start.  Good weather and temperature thoughout.

At about 9 miles I figured out that I wasn't running the St. George Marathon and wasn't going to be able to PR. I backed off, which was probably a good thing.

I finished well and was kind of bumped about not PRing, but I guess the only way to judge how I did is by looking at overall place (21) and division place (5th).

The last 5 miles I had to back off about 30 to 45 seconds a mile.  I didn't have a lot left. I did finish the last half mile at a sub 6:00 pace and sprinted past at what I thought was a professional marathoner.  He was black, skinny and started with the leed pack.  I'm guessing he was hurt and that's the only reason I past him, but it's still my claim to fame.

I got a nice little award for my divison place and am glad to be done.

I'm happy.  I did decide that I don't need to run 15 miles a day anymore.  I run just as fast or faster with running 10 miles a day.

I felt the race was just a bit long.  My GPS said it was about 1 tenth of a mile long.

I'll back off a lot for the fall and winter and work more on weights and bike.

I have a department physical fitness test next Wednesday, so I decided I had better get in a little training before then.

Today was the first work out sense Saturday's marathon.

I started with push and sit ups and weights. I warmed up with minutes on the elipticall, it felt pretty smooth.

I finished off with two miles on the treadmill. 8 minute miles. It didn't feel too painful. The calves started stiffening up towards the end.

Felt twice as good as I did yesterday during my workout. Calves not nearly as sore today.

Did 20 minutes on the eliptical and finished with 3 miles on the treadmill.

Department physical fitness test today.  As always, I kicked butt.  Lapped everyone there, most twice, some three times.

Ran 8:44 for the mile and a half.  Not bad for a 70 mph head wind.
