Today I drive down to the trail and ran 3 miles up Dixie Dr to meet up with some old Michigan friends. I ran 10 with them - back down to the trail & around the mayors loop, then back up to drop them back off to their car. By mile 13, I was already pretty tired, so I gagged down a gu and kept going- back to the the trails.  We had a lot of stops on this run. 2 bathroom breaks, stopped as I met them and dropped them off and 1-2 other quick stops.  My average moving pace was about 9:15, but if you count the 20 mins of stopping, much slower. My energy was pretty low, so I am just glad I made it through this one.

Easy 2 miles on treadmill to loosen my legs and warm-up, then a little bit of arm work and ab ripper X.  I am still so weak in my core and upper body, I need to work on this.

Treadmill workout, warm-up 10 mins slow, then 10 at 10k pace (7:50, progressing to 7:00), 5 mins slow, another 10 min fast, then cool down of about 12 mins.

The best part of this run was when Alex (3), just woke up and found me running downstairs. He was yelling at me, "GO, GO, GO, Faster!, GO, GO!"  He was such a cute little trainer!

I finally made it back to Snow Canyon- yay!! Luckily the baby slept pretty well and she didn't get up until it was time for me to get up and go, so I fed her before I left and headed up to the canyon.  I met a bunch of people there and was able to stay with them the whole time. It was a great workout.  I ran this a little slower than I used to, but that's ok since it was my first time running this canyon in about 18 months.  I almost forgot how much I love that run! It is so pretty over there and you can see so many stars

With spring break next week, we did our long run early. I met Lesa & Jeanette and we did a loop around Sun River, then up and around the trail system. & I made it back in time to drive the carpool.  We started out with a really nice, relaxed pace, then picked it up at the end so I could make it home in time.  My energy was good today, but my left hip is feeling a little tight ever since the canyon. I will try to make time to stretch it out really well.  Our pace averaged out to 9:05

Easy run in park city. I did some of this on a gravel trail and ended up running about a mile on slushy snowpack. Very pretty up here.  My lungs hurt a little when I was done, maybe because of the higher elevation.

Treadmill run.  I was planning on doing 4 sets of 6 mins at 5k-10k pace w 3 min recovery jog.  I felt so sick after the first interval, I wanted to throw up or pass out.  I stopped and walked a little and then only did 2 more intervals and reduced the time to 4 mins for the last 2.  I walked a little, then jogged to cool down.  I still felt really awful for about 45 mins after this.  Maybe I didn't eat enough yesterday or maybe it is the high altitude, I just hope I am not getting sick!

I finally made it out for another run. This week has been super fun, but very busy. We are on spring break and skied 5 of the last 8 days. I didn't actually ski very much since I was mostly on baby duty, but I was super busy getting 5 of the kids in and out of ski gear multiple times and taking the baby and little kids to hang out in the lodge. Anyway, we've had a great time and the kids are skiing great!

On the way back from Brighton, I got dropped off at my brother's home in cottonwood heights and ran up wasatch, parleys trail, foothill, then the super steep neighborhood up to the Devonshire trail. The sun was beginning to set as I got on the trail and it was so pretty. I ran past my mom's down to the park and then back around so I could get 13 miles in.  This was a very enjoyable run with good weather and beautiful views!  Lots iof hill climbing on this run, so my pace averaged to 9:25.  I guess I will have to tackle this week's scheduled 20-miler next week.

Treadmill workout.

10min warmup (9:15-10 min pace)

3 x 10 min tempo (7:40 progression to 6:40) w 5 min recovery (9:30-10 pace)

8 min cool down

tough workout, but hopefully will help me to get some speed back. The shoes felt great. I wore a skirt to get used to it for the marathon and I was comfortable.

Loop from tonaquint then up around Ivins. Ave pace 9:08.  Weather was really nice and I love the pretty views on this run. I had a running skirt, tank and light jacket, took the jacket off for some of the middle miles.  I felt pretty good until about mile 16, then my stomach started really hurting. I kept going and had an 11 minute mile for #18 because I kept stopping to walk.i felt better for the last 3 after stopping at the gas station. I think maybe I ate too much pizza last night or maybe it was the zip fizz or gels. I ate a banana before the run, 5 little honey stinger gels around 6-7 miles & sipped in a very diluted  zip fizz. At mile 12, 1/2  a honey stinger waffle & a few sips of diet coke.  Mile 15- 2 more gels- maybe too much eating on the run, I don't know?  Although I had a stomach ache, my energy was great .

Treadmill workout:

12 min warmup, then 2x 15 mins at 10k pace (I started around 7:50, then increased speed to 6:50) with 5 min recovery between, then about 8 min cool down

i didn't reach as fast of speeds as last week because I don't think my legs have fully recovered from the 21 on Sat.  Overall it was tough, but I felt pretty good and was glad I could hold the tempo paces for a little longer.

Easy fun run with Cathy. She stayed here on her way to Vegas for spring break. we went through Bloomington hills then down river rd to pick up my car from the auto place. We brought Annalise and took turns pushing her in the stroller. This was her first run and she loved it. She fell asleep after about 10 mins. So fun to run with Sisters!

Loop around Ivins again, but this time starting at tonaquint park. Ave pace: 9:07. I didn't sleep well at all last night with the baby getting up about 6 times. It may be her cutting teeth, or possibly getting sick- the poor thing! Anyway, I felt ok on the run.  Before the run, I just ate a few ritz crackers since I wasn't very hungry. I just sipped on a tiny bit of water for the first 11 miles, then at mile 11 pit stop had a honey stinger waffle. I think less food was better for my stomach this time. Now just 23 days til Boston!
