I ran with the st George running club from Veyo to Ivins through Gunlock. It was crazy weather on the drive up with lots of lightning, so we were nervous. When we started running, it was pouring rain and super windy. We saw one big lightning bolt, but no more after that a and the rain stopped too, so that's good. I had some stomach issues and didn't feel very well, so I got a ride with someone at 16 miles rather than going the full 20 for this run. This was my first time out to Gunlock- it was beautiful and the sunrise was so colorful with all of the clouds. Ave pace- 9:00

Track workout: mile repeats. I didn't have my watch, so I decided to just stick with a few people that usually are a little faster than me and I think this actually helped me go faster today. Our mile times were- 6:32, 6:37, 6:45, 6:41.  Very tough workout, but I felt pretty good

Tempo run. 1.5 easy, then 5 mi tempo, then 1.9 easy. My tempo splits were: 7:42. 7:46, 7:36, 7:32, 7:37(with hill). I felt pretty good and the weather was a little cooler this morning - 69 degrees felt great!!

AP 8:47, Long run from the top of Veyo hill to diagonal and 300 w. Paul was nice and got up and drive a bunch of is up to Veyo. I ran with Karen and Bree. I enjoyed the relaxed pace since I was a little tired and sore from track and tempo. Nice weather!!  I tried to eat a honey stinger and gagged it out at mile 5, then 5 stinger chews at mile 10. I took a salt pill at each of these stops, too. I haven't run with salt pills much, but I think it'll be a good idea to get used to it.

Run up at Brian Head - 10,000 feet elevation. AP 10:15. This was a beautiful run on a dirt road around the mountains of Brianhead ski resort. Lots of uphill and burning lungs!

Snow canyon. We had a pretty good pace considering the steep uphill that overall was 8:48. Super muggy and sweaty going up. Cooled down and got breezy once we reached the top. Great to be out running again after 3 days off. I'm trying to get into a good back-to-school groove

Running club tempo run- I felt super drowsy at first for our warm-up. I took a Tylenol pm last night for a bad head ache and this made me feel weird. I felt better and more awake once we started the tempo. This was actually the fastest I've done this run- my splits were: 7:22, 7:28, 7:18, 7:16, 7:38

I ran from toquerville to Washington with the running club. AP was 8:20. Overall this was a downhill course, but there were a few big climbs. At about mile 10 I did a few tempo miles, then I caught up with one of my friends that wasn't feeling very well, so I slowed down for the last miles with her.  I had a banana before we started, then a gu at mile 5, 1/2 of an energy drink at about 8-9 miles, then I shared a gu at mile 15. I brought some salt pills, but forgot about them until mile 13, so then I just took 1. Overall my energy was great and my stomach felt great, so that's good. I'm glad I was able to keep the gu down.

Track workout - 1.5 mile warm-up, then 6x1200 with 400 recovery

splits were: 4:56, 4:57, 4:56, 4:59, 4:59, 5:00  (that is about a 6:32-6:37 mile pace). I'm glad we stayed pretty consistent.  those last 2 were super tough for me.

Crazy weather this morning - super warm and muggy to begin, then about 1/2 way through the workout it began to rain pretty hard and and there was lightning.  We just kept going since the lightning wasn't close - still kinda creepy, though.  Rain felt great and cooled the air at least 10 degrees

Snow canyon. So pretty. I was so slow and tired the first couple of miles, then gradually picked up the pace. Overall pace 8:45.  I wore my new shoes. They felt ok. They are super light, so coming down the hill I did miss the cushion of the Hokas .

Great long run down the SGM course.  AP 7:54 - We went all the way to the start in Central and ran til mile marker 5 just above SG. I ran the first half a little more relaxed and it was fun to chat and catch up with my friend that moved last year. We missed our first water drop and I had dropped my Nathan Water bottle at that one, so i didn't have it for the run. We caught up to the other girls at the gas station in Veyo at mile 7 and they gave us a drink. Luckily my Gu was in my pockets. I had a GU at mile 7, then mile 14.  We did find our other water stops, so that was good.  At around 12 miles, I decided to try to get a few tempo miles in since I missed the tempo run this week. I was going to tempo 5-6 miles around a 7:20 pace, but I felt really great, so I decided to keep going and then went a little more relaxed for the last mile.  This was a definate confidence booster for the marathon.  However, the left side of my left leg is really hurting now.  During the run, I felt a tiny pain on the side of my left ankle.  Didn't hurt too bad during the run or even after until the next morning when I got up and it felt worse.  I think it may be a tendon there on the left side of my leg that is inflamed - frustrating!  I will take a few days off and ice it and not do any more tempo running this next week.

I ran down to the river to cheer for my friends running the southern Utah half marathon. It was frustrating resting my leg all week, but I'm glad I did. Sunday and Monday I was limping and had a lot of pain on my lower left calf starting at my ankle and going up. I'm pretty sure it was perineal tendinitis. I got it massaged on tues and iced it about 1-2 x per day.  So by this run on Saturday it felt ok. It was fun to see everyone running- they did awesome!
