Track workout- 8x800 m with 400 recivery

my leg was feeling ok through this, but I decoded not to do all 10 reps with my group just to be safe. I really don't want to over-do it again and get really injured.

my splits were: 3:19, 3:23, 3:18, 3:20, 3:22, 3:18, 3:22, 3:22

Long run from my house with Karen to Bloomington trailhead. We met up with a bunch of other girls to run the sun river loop, then Karen turned and ran home since she only wanted 13 miles. I went another 5.5 with the group through Bloomington hills, then turned and ran home alone. Those last our miles were tough to get through today, but I just kept going and didn't really slow down too much. It was pretty muggy this morning with the rain last night and the cloud cover so I was glad I brought 2 salt pills. I also had 2 gus & a little of the melaleuca sustain to mix in my water bottle at the end. Overall pace 8:48. I am glad this one is over!

Brigham hill repeats - jogged over to the top of the hill with Karen, then ran down fast and up a little more relaxed.  We did this 5 times and then jogged back home.  I wanted to get a little bit of downhill practice befoer my race on sat.

My final results were 98 out of 2551 overall finishers, 34th out of 1798 women, 11th in the 35-39 age group.

This was a great run for me.  I had a plan to try and get under 1:32.  (my prior 1/2 marathon PR was 1:34 2 years ago before I was pregnant)  I printed out a pace band specific to this course for 1:31:45.  This really helped me and made it so that I could mentally break down the race into segments.  That way I really only worried about 1 mile at a time.  This goes with the saying: "Inch by Inch is a sinch, yard by yard is Hard."  I hit all of my mile split goals and some were a little under and that's why I actually came in over a minute under my goal.  I really had to dig deep to keep this up during those last 3 miles, but I'm glad I hung on.

For race fuel, I woke up and had a peanut butter granola bar, a banana on the bus.  A GU about 20 minutes before the start.  1 salt tab at mile 3, GU at mile 6.5.  I stopped about every 2 miles for just a few seconds and had water.

The canyon was so beautiful and I loved seeing that the colors are already changing.  I kept my music off for the first 6 miles just to enjoy the race and the beauty of the canyon.

After I was done, I jogged back and forth to the car a few times and then I ran up the course cheering for the marathoners.  I ran about 1.75 miles of the finish of the marathon with my brother, Doug.  He did great - his PR of 3:19 and was 5th in his division.  It was kinda fun to push him for that last, hardest stretch.  I ended up getting an extra 5 miles saturday, so I'll have to figure out how to add that to my mileage calendar.

My splits were:

1 -   7:13
2 -   7:04
3 -   7:11
4 -   6:55
5 -   6:32
6 -   6:39
7 -   7:03
8 -   6:28
9 -   6:54
10-  6:51
11 - 7:08
12 - 6:46
13 - 7:03
.1 - :57  (6:28 pace)

Tempo run: 1.5 miles easy, then 5 mi on mayors loop, then 1.5 more slow.

This run got erased off my watch so I don't have my exact splits, but the miles ranged from 7:13- 7:30..  My legs were still pretty sore and tired

16 miles - the end of the marathon course. I did ok and averaged just about 8 min per mile.  My legs were still a little sore and tired and I especially felt it on those downhill miles. The last three miles felt especially tough, but I pushed through it and actually increased my speed a little on those. I was glad to get my last long run finished and now let my body rest and recover.

Beautiful run from Bloomington, up dixie and then down Indian hills. We got into some muddy spots and it was slippery, but we were all ok. Beautiful double rainbow just before it started raining and then pouring for the last 3 miles.
