New Year's Day run with my siblings- Mary, Doug, and John.  9:15 pace. This was a beautiful run out and back on Wasatch.  I still have my baby weight and I felt a little out of shape running with them, but I had a great time.  It may have been difficult because of the cold & high elevation. Excited to be back on the blog and start the new year off right!

5.5 miles loop at about a 9:10 average pace with the group. I felt ok and only a little out of breath.  It is nice to have others there pushing me. Very tired today, maybe from getting up early or maybe from the run

6 mile loop around Webb hill with Karen. Ave about 10 min pace. She was feeling really light-headed from not eating enough, so the 1/2 half of the run we slowed down and walked up the hills.  My knee and hip were feeling a little tight so I will wait til Tuesday to do my long run. Still it felt great to be out running! St George is so beautiful

10 miles through bloomington hills & the mayors loop. Ave pace 9:38.  Kinda boring to go that far alone. But I felt pretty good the whole time and the weather wasn't too cold. I need to get my speed/cardio fitness back so I can join my friends on the long runs. But I guess that is pretty good considering baby turns 3 months tomorrow. Now I just need to focus on my nutrition so I can still nurse.

Another great run in Mexico!

1.5 miles - slow on the beach

Then 3 miles on the treadmill - ave pace 7.5 - I started at 7.0, then gradually made it up to 8.0, then came down to 7.5 for the last mile. - this felt very hard for me even at sea level, but hopefully it will help me get some speed back eventually. The workout room was really hot and stuffy!

Then the reward of another 1.5 slow beach miles- so beautiful! I will miss this place, but I'm excited to see my kids

I wanted to run at least 14 today, but I found out Paul made plans to go canyoneering in Orderville and wanted to leave at 7- we compromised and he changed his plan to 8.  With the baby waking up twice last night- the earliest I could get myself up was 5:45 & I slowly got ready. I was able to do a 1.8 mile loop to Brigham road, then back around by sdessert hills before meeting Karen at 6:20.  Karen and I ran 10 miles together and went up Bloomington hills onto the trail, then got on the mayors loop- then up Brigham hill at the end. My energy was pretty good considering how tired I was last night and this morning.  I brought 5 honey stinger chews (pink lemonade)and gave 2 to Karen. Those tasted pretty good and were even ok without water. Unfortunately the water fountains are still all turned off- maybe next time I'll bring water.  I don't want to get dehydrated since I'm still nursing.  When I got back i checked on the baby and kids and they were fine, so I put Abby in charge for a few minutes and went out for 1 more mile.  ave pace about 9:40 (including a few stops) 13.1 miles- halfway there!

Treadmill workout. This has been one of those days when I've had my running clothes on all day and can't seem to find time to run.  I was finally going nuts, so instead of making dinner, I decided to get on the treadmill and watch Harry potter with the kids. They are eating a frozen pizza right now :/ - but that's ok- I cook most nights for them.

14:00- warm up- 6.3

Got off to feed the baby ;)

3:00 - warm up 6.3

5:00 - went from 7.5 up to 8.0

I joined my old running group on their long run. I knew they were going 17.5, so I was planning on turning early to get 14 or 15. I didn't turn in time, so I stuck with them and I planned on walking after 15. We went from Indian hills up valley view to snow canyon parkway, then went all the way to Ivins, then back down through Santa Clara. The sunrise was so pretty because of the few clouds in the sky. The sun was up as we ran through Santa Clara- it is such a cute little town. We ran past Jacob Hamblin's home and I think I'll take my kids there soon to check it out. I kind of trailed the group most of the time with Jessica, but overall it was a good pace for me for that long of a run & with the hills. Ave 9:10. My energy felt great, I did eat 5 honey stingers and I know I could have run the whole way, but to save on my hip, I stopped and walked  at mile 16 for about 1/2 a mile and I was going to walk all the way back. I got a little too bored and cold, so I just decided to run the last mile. This was probably way too far for me to go right now, but I will stretch out my hip a lot and maybe bring my mileage down a little next week. Very mentally encouraging post-baby run!

Overall my ave pace was under 9.  when I got back, I struggled through ab ripperX.

I was planning on running Snow Canyon this morning, but Annalise was sick and up in the night about every hour, then she finally slept from about 4-7. So when my alarm went off at 4:30, I was way too tired! I ended up on the treadmill during Annalise's nap. 8 miles is my new treadmill record! This was really boring today, but it was cute watching Alex make a train track and play with his pirates while I ran.  I averaged about 9:10, I did the first half at 9:30, then got faster until the last mile was at 8:12. Maybe I'll make it to the canyon next week.

Instead, I stayed in bed and cuddled her- so nice!  After getting the kids off to school, I had about 30 mins to run outside before Paul left. Nice to be outside! Started out pretty slow and easy and sped up gradually. Felt good. First mile was 9:00, 8:00 by the end.

This mornings run I went with a couple of neighbors.  I did a mile loop around the neighborhood before we started, then Amy, Karen, and I headed down to Bloomington around the loop. Amy took the shorter way. Karen and I ran into Debbie, Bruce and Becky, so we ran with them for a little bit then we went up Tonaquint, we caught up to Amy as we came under the freeway.  Those miles felt good and easy, about the next 4 miles as we came back through Bloomington Hills were painfully slow with lots of walking breaks, but I wanted to stick together, so I just took advantage of the restful pace. Karen and I sped up a little for her last mile, and then I did one more on my own a little faster. My energy was great but I did feel some hunger pains. I brought 3 honey stinger chews- that didn't get rid of them. Overall I enjoyed this big loop/ tour of S. St. George! Ave pace 9:50

Felt great going down and had a good pace.  And kept a pretty good pace for 5 miles. Then I hit the 12% grade uphill and slowed way down. I kept running though and did not stop to walk. I did stop for a few seconds at mile 7 to catch my breath. Those hills were tough! Also I realized I didn't really eat dinner last night and I was feeling pretty depleted. Long run with my old running group. Ave pace 9:04. Wow- this was tough! Maybe because of the many sleepless nights I had this week with the baby. It was fun to go with the group, but I didn't get to chat with them much because I had a hard time keeping up and was running a little ways behind them. We went up around Ivins again like 2 weeks ago.  It was so beautiful and the sunrise was amazing, It is a pretty hilly route. After 12 miles we stopped in Ivins and I told them not to worry about waiting for me. I still kept an ok pace, but I was able to stop at mile 15 & 17 for a few seconds to stretch without pressure to keep up. I was only going to do 18 miles, but the rest of the group ended going 22.  I ran to 18.5, then walked a while and one of my friends who had parked close by to cut the run short, was able to pick me up and take me to my car.  My legs felt ok except my hip twinging a little the last few miles. My issue today was low energy and the paces I was running seemed harder than they should have been.  I think because of not eating or sleeping enough this week. For nutrition, I had 1/2 a bagel on my way over, 5 honey stinger chews from miles 5-9, then a gu mile 12- gross! Not sure I ever want a chocolate gu again.

Dogtown 1/2 marathon - 1:45:47.  first post-baby race. This was a tough workout, but I ended up just where I was planning to finish. My goal was to finish between 1:45-1:50, so I'm glad I was able to do that. I didn't get much sleep the few nights before with the baby still sick and pretty fussy, so I felt tired when it was time to wake up and get going. Pre-race I had a slice of toast with PB & a banana. Not sure if that was enough with this late start. During the race, I ate about 2/3 a pack of honey stinger cherry cola gels. Gross! I guess I should have tried them first- I don't think I'll use that flavor again. The lime or the pink lemonade are definitely better than those.  Overall my splits were pretty even other than the first & last miles faster, plus a couple of fast downhill miles, my slowest mike was #10 with the big hill on Majestic Rd. At least I made it up without walking. Paul did great in this race and he hasn't even been running much. He ran ahead of me on the early downhill miles. I almost caught back up to him on miles 7-12, and was only about 15-20 secs behind him. Then at mile 12, there was a little out n back on the course. Right after Paul turned around, he saw I was right there, slapped my hand, and he took off! I think that must have been his fastest mile of the race. He ended up finishing 45 secs ahead of me.  I think he was pretty thrilled to beat me in this race.

Overall I enjoyed the course, the great weather, and it was great seeing some of my running buddies and the running community getting together.  I felt good after the race, but about an hour after and throughout the day, had an upset stomach and was nauseated. Not sure if it was because if the gels or from exerting myself, or both, I guess.   It is definatly easier to run fast  with less weight, but I guess running fast isn't what is most important right now. I do still want to be able to nurse the baby at least another month or two if I can.  I am excited for my next race- just 2 more months til Boston!

Crazy week! Squeezed in this treadmill workout while Annalise was sleeping and watched little Einsteins with Alex. I ran 1 slow mile, then 1 faster (7:30), .25 slow, .5 fast (7:15), .25 slow, .5 fast, then cool down. My kids have had 1/2 days every day this week which seems to really throw off my grove. Also I was in charge of our Cub Scout blue & gold banquet and did lots of cooking, setting up, and cleaning for that.  Anyway- it turned out great, but glad it is over. I'm hoping to somehow get in at least 27 miles this week.

With this crazy week, I haven't run much and I've been feeling really overwhlemed.  Today's run was totally an insanity-prevention run.  I left around 4:20 with 4 of my 6 kids home.  Abby was watching and listening for the baby while I ran outside the first 4 miles.  I started out slow, then pushed it a little for 3 miles.  Came home and ran another slow one on the treadmill.  The kids are fine and Mommy is happier now!

The back of my calves are a little tight/sore.  Probably from this new style of shoe I've been wearing.  The kinvara has a lower heel to toe drop than the Brooks Launch I've been used to.  I will have to switch off with those old shoes more until I get used to this.

Today I drive down to the trail and ran 3 miles up Dixie Dr to meet up with some old Michigan friends. I ran 10 with them - back down to the trail & around the mayors loop, then back up to drop them back off to their car. By mile 13, I was already pretty tired, so I gagged down a gu and kept going- back to the the trails.  We had a lot of stops on this run. 2 bathroom breaks, stopped as I met them and dropped them off and 1-2 other quick stops.  My average moving pace was about 9:15, but if you count the 20 mins of stopping, much slower. My energy was pretty low, so I am just glad I made it through this one.

How fun to run with MI friends! I love running and catching up with people. It feels so productive! Don't worry about all the stopping and breaks. It's good you got out there. I still haven't had a Gu on this training. I haven't figured out my nutrition yet.

Easy 2 miles on treadmill to loosen my legs and warm-up, then a little bit of arm work and ab ripper X.  I am still so weak in my core and upper body, I need to work on this.

Treadmill workout, warm-up 10 mins slow, then 10 at 10k pace (7:50, progressing to 7:00), 5 mins slow, another 10 min fast, then cool down of about 12 mins.

The best part of this run was when Alex (3), just woke up and found me running downstairs. He was yelling at me, "GO, GO, GO, Faster!, GO, GO!"  He was such a cute little trainer!

I finally made it back to Snow Canyon- yay!! Luckily the baby slept pretty well and she didn't get up until it was time for me to get up and go, so I fed her before I left and headed up to the canyon.  I met a bunch of people there and was able to stay with them the whole time. It was a great workout.  I ran this a little slower than I used to, but that's ok since it was my first time running this canyon in about 18 months.  I almost forgot how much I love that run! It is so pretty over there and you can see so many stars

I was saddened to see all of your blog entries without any comments so I stopped by to say hello, nice "lone" blogging and good luck at Boston!

Haha, thanks for the comment & support, - I Just Run! And don't worry about me, i have two sisters and lots of friends going to Boston with me, so I have a great running support, it's just we are all moms and most don't bother with blogging their workouts. My sister, MaryMary, lives in MI, so it is fun to sort of "virtually" train with her and see her workouts. I also enjoy this blog for the shoe tracker tool and I like reading others' workouts- you can learn a lot and it is a great source of motivation. Happy Running!

With spring break next week, we did our long run early. I met Lesa & Jeanette and we did a loop around Sun River, then up and around the trail system. & I made it back in time to drive the carpool.  We started out with a really nice, relaxed pace, then picked it up at the end so I could make it home in time.  My energy was good today, but my left hip is feeling a little tight ever since the canyon. I will try to make time to stretch it out really well.  Our pace averaged out to 9:05

I finally made it out for another run. This week has been super fun, but very busy. We are on spring break and skied 5 of the last 8 days. I didn't actually ski very much since I was mostly on baby duty, but I was super busy getting 5 of the kids in and out of ski gear multiple times and taking the baby and little kids to hang out in the lodge. Anyway, we've had a great time and the kids are skiing great!

On the way back from Brighton, I got dropped off at my brother's home in cottonwood heights and ran up wasatch, parleys trail, foothill, then the super steep neighborhood up to the Devonshire trail. The sun was beginning to set as I got on the trail and it was so pretty. I ran past my mom's down to the park and then back around so I could get 13 miles in.  This was a very enjoyable run with good weather and beautiful views!  Lots iof hill climbing on this run, so my pace averaged to 9:25.  I guess I will have to tackle this week's scheduled 20-miler next week.

I kept going and had an 11 minute mile for #18 because I kept stopping to walk.i felt better for the last 3 after stopping at the gas station. I think maybe I ate too much pizza last night or maybe it was the zip fizz or gels. I ate a banana before the run, 5 little honey stinger gels around 6-7 miles & sipped in a very diluted  zip fizz. At mile 12, 1/2  a honey stinger waffle & a few sips of diet coke.  Mile 15- 2 more gels- maybe too much eating on the run, I don't know?  Although I had a stomach ache, my energy was great .

Track workout at DSU with the running club.

Today was super windy on the backstretch, but I guess the wind helped push me foward on the homestretch.

The workout was: 1600 warm up, 800 of stretches, jogging, & strides

800 - 3:38,  400 recovery

1600 - 7:12  400 recovery

800 - 3:26, 400 recovery

1600 - 7:09, 400 recovery

800 - 3:26, 400 recovery

Bleachers - 5x, then 1200 cooldown

I did a little better than last week.  Actually my slowest interval was the first 800, and I was able to do the rest just a little faster and stay consistent.  I am still not super fast, but I think this track work will help me a lot.  This was a lot of fun, too.  I met a girl on the track going about my pace and we ran the last 2 800s together and the second 1600.  There was also an older guy that ran our 2nd mile repeat with us.  It was cool - it felt like teamwork as we helped eachother out.  This reminded me of my high school track days.

Track workout:

warmup & stretches- 1.5 miles

then 12 intervals: either 300 w bleachers or 400s. I think I did about 6 or 7 with the  bleachers, 100 m recovery after the bleachers, 200 recovery after the 400s

My pace for these laps wasn't much better than my 1600s last week- I think those stairs kinda wore me out there in the middle. here were my ave paces per lap:

6:23, 6:47, 7:02, 6:55, 6:58, 7:10, 7:11, 7:05, 6:51, 7:12, 7:06, 6:51

great workout

I ran with Doug up Big Cottonwoid Canyon. We met at his house and it was really raining, so I borrowed a hat. We met Paul H at the park & ride and then ran up about 4 miles with him. We ran about another 2.5 and Doug let me wear his watch and run up ahead a little. Pretty slow but steady pace heading up. We ended up climbing about 3000 feet on this run! After I turned around, we sped up. The first mile coming down was about 8:30, then we kept getting faster and faster. Doug had taken some caffeine and I think it must have hit him just as we turned around. I don't have the split details because I wasn't wearing a watch, but I know we did 3 miles under 7:00 pace and 2 under 8:00.  Doug actually got his fastest 5k on his watch during that run at 20:36! I held back a little before that point and did not keep up the 6:30 pace with Doug. Plus, I had to stop and text Andrew because he was helping with the baby.  This was a great run. I loved the rain to keep us cool, too.  The mountains were so green and beautiful and the river was running fast and high. This almost makes me want to do either the big cottonwood half or full marathon. My left it band was pretty tight after this run, so I took a few days off.

Tempo Run with the St George Running Club.  This week has been kind of crazy since I was in SLC and didn't have anyone to watch the kids Mon or Tuesday morning, then Wed I was just too tired to wake up and run.  So, I haven't run since Saturday.  Today's run was very challenging, but I enjoyed it. We did a slow 1.5 mile warm-up, then the tempo was 5 miles, then I just did 1 mile cooldown since I had to get back to help Paul with an event he was putting on.  It was pretty hot this morning even at 5:30 - about 76 degrees, but i think it cooled to about 73 by the time we were done.  My splits for the 5 mile tempo were: 7:28, 7:54, 7:40, 7:46, 7,43(with a hill).  I felt like I did ok considering I haven't tried running a tempo run like this for a long time.  Hopefully it will get easier for me to hold these paces.

I met a bunch of friends to do the loop around Sugar Leo and the Bloomington River Trail.  This wasn't as relaxed as "Fun Fridays" normally are.  This was a little challenging to push the pace after yesterday's workout.  My legs were pretty tired from that tempo run, but I was able to hang with the slower group and even chat with them while running.  Ave pace: 8:10 for the 5.25 miles.

About an hour after I got back, I took all the kids over to the Deseret Hills Track and a few neighbors came and some other friends.  I ran a lap with Alex and Austin, pushing the jogging stroller. (I am totally counting that .25 in my mileage-haha). The kids ran a couple laps to warm up, then we did a few 100m races, then we went up the the upper soccer field and played a few games like freeze tag, red rover, red light/green light.  Our idea here is to get the kids out moving around and just have fun.  I think they enjoyed it and we will try to do this once a week this summer in addition to swimming for exercise for the kids.

We were in Oceanside, CA last week and it was harder to get out and run than I thought.  We were all so tired from playing hard at the beach/pool and we also spent a day in Sea World and a day at Legoland.  I was never able to get up early to run while everyone was sleeping, so on most days I just sort of missed the running window.  But we had a great trip and I am missing the beach already!

On Wednesday, I did intervals during an out-n-back run along the beach path and then through the neighborhood nearby. It was so pretty outside, but a little hot with the sun shining.  It was hard to get a good pace through the neighborhoods and on the beach sidewalk with all the walkers, joggers, dogs, bikes, a few hills, etc.

I warmed up for 1.5 miles, then did alternating 400s and 800s w/ 400 recovery, then about a mile cooldown. Not very fast, but at least I stayed consistent. Here were my splits:

400 - 1:43

Another beautiful beach run.  We were checking out of our condo and heading down to Cornado this day, so I didn't have time to go very long, so I thought I'd just go under an hour and try to get in 7 miles.  It took me 57 minutes for the 7 miles.  I started out slow and easy and then tried to get a little faster each mile so it was sort of like a tempo run at the end.  My splits were: 9:10, 8:31, 8:24, 8:10, 7:56, 7:45, 7:34.

1.5 mile warmup

ladder: 400 m recovery after each of these

400- 1:39,  800- 3:19,  1200- 5:12, 1600-7:01, 1200- 5:15, 800- 3:30, 400-1:37

Then  4x up the bleachers & 1 mile cool down

tough workout- I felt good about my paces other than the second 800, I slowed a little on that one, I was starting to get really worn out by then, bit I was still able to  do an  ok 400.

Instead of going to DSU track, a couple of my neighbors and I ran over the Desert Hills Track. It is about .75 miles from my house. We jogged around the track until we reached 1 mile, then did a few stretches& strides. Then 800s w 400 jogging recovery. I was going to do 8 or 9, by # 5 they felt so hard that I thought I'd just do 8, but when I got through with that  eighth one, I decided I could do 1 more. Tough workout and I was basically all alone on these since my neighbors were running a totally different pace. Also 81 degrees this morning at 6 am!!! We are getting to the hottest time of year and it doesn't cool off below 80.  It'll be nice to go north to Bear Lake.

After the 800s, we ran 1 mile back to our neighborhood. No bleachers today, although these high school bleachers would have been way easier than the college ones.

my splits were: 3:19, 3:16, 3:21, 3:20, 3:22, 3:23, 3:25, 3:20, 3:16

I ran with the st George running club from Veyo to Ivins through Gunlock. It was crazy weather on the drive up with lots of lightning, so we were nervous. When we started running, it was pouring rain and super windy. We saw one big lightning bolt, but no more after that a and the rain stopped too, so that's good. I had some stomach issues and didn't feel very well, so I got a ride with someone at 16 miles rather than going the full 20 for this run. This was my first time out to Gunlock- it was beautiful and the sunrise was so colorful with all of the clouds. Ave pace- 9:00

I enjoyed the relaxed pace since I was a little tired and sore from track and tempo. Nice weather!!  I tried to eat a honey stinger and gagged it out at mile 5, then 5 stinger chews at mile 10. I took a salt pill at each of these stops, too. I haven't run with salt pills much, but I think it'll be a good idea to get used to it.

I felt better and more awake once we started the tempo. This was actually the fastest I've done this run- my splits were: 7:22, 7:28, 7:18, 7:16, 7:38

I ran from toquerville to Washington with the running club. AP was 8:20. Overall this was a downhill course, but there were a few big climbs. At about mile 10 I did a few tempo miles, then I caught up with one of my friends that wasn't feeling very well, so I slowed down for the last miles with her.  I had a banana before we started, then a gu at mile 5, 1/2 of an energy drink at about 8-9 miles, then I shared a gu at mile 15. I brought some salt pills, but forgot about them until mile 13, so then I just took 1. Overall my energy was great and my stomach felt great, so that's good. I'm glad I was able to keep the gu down.

Track workout - 1.5 mile warm-up, then 6x1200 with 400 recovery

splits were: 4:56, 4:57, 4:56, 4:59, 4:59, 5:00  (that is about a 6:32-6:37 mile pace). I'm glad we stayed pretty consistent.  those last 2 were super tough for me.

Crazy weather this morning - super warm and muggy to begin, then about 1/2 way through the workout it began to rain pretty hard and and there was lightning.  We just kept going since the lightning wasn't close - still kinda creepy, though.  Rain felt great and cooled the air at least 10 degrees

Great long run down the SGM course.  AP 7:54 - We went all the way to the start in Central and ran til mile marker 5 just above SG. I ran the first half a little more relaxed and it was fun to chat and catch up with my friend that moved last year. We missed our first water drop and I had dropped my Nathan Water bottle at that one, so i didn't have it for the run. We caught up to the other girls at the gas station in Veyo at mile 7 and they gave us a drink. Luckily my Gu was in my pockets. I had a GU at mile 7, then mile 14.  We did find our other water stops, so that was good.  At around 12 miles, I decided to try to get a few tempo miles in since I missed the tempo run this week. I was going to tempo 5-6 miles around a 7:20 pace, but I felt really great, so I decided to keep going and then went a little more relaxed for the last mile.  This was a definate confidence booster for the marathon.  However, the left side of my left leg is really hurting now.  During the run, I felt a tiny pain on the side of my left ankle.  Didn't hurt too bad during the run or even after until the next morning when I got up and it felt worse.  I think it may be a tendon there on the left side of my leg that is inflamed - frustrating!  I will take a few days off and ice it and not do any more tempo running this next week.

I ran down to the river to cheer for my friends running the southern Utah half marathon. It was frustrating resting my leg all week, but I'm glad I did. Sunday and Monday I was limping and had a lot of pain on my lower left calf starting at my ankle and going up. I'm pretty sure it was perineal tendinitis. I got it massaged on tues and iced it about 1-2 x per day.  So by this run on Saturday it felt ok. It was fun to see everyone running- they did awesome!

Long run from my house with Karen to Bloomington trailhead. We met up with a bunch of other girls to run the sun river loop, then Karen turned and ran home since she only wanted 13 miles. I went another 5.5 with the group through Bloomington hills, then turned and ran home alone. Those last our miles were tough to get through today, but I just kept going and didn't really slow down too much. It was pretty muggy this morning with the rain last night and the cloud cover so I was glad I brought 2 salt pills. I also had 2 gus & a little of the melaleuca sustain to mix in my water bottle at the end. Overall pace 8:48. I am glad this one is over!

My final results were 98 out of 2551 overall finishers, 34th out of 1798 women, 11th in the 35-39 age group.

This was a great run for me.  I had a plan to try and get under 1:32.  (my prior 1/2 marathon PR was 1:34 2 years ago before I was pregnant)  I printed out a pace band specific to this course for 1:31:45.  This really helped me and made it so that I could mentally break down the race into segments.  That way I really only worried about 1 mile at a time.  This goes with the saying: "Inch by Inch is a sinch, yard by yard is Hard."  I hit all of my mile split goals and some were a little under and that's why I actually came in over a minute under my goal.  I really had to dig deep to keep this up during those last 3 miles, but I'm glad I hung on.

For race fuel, I woke up and had a peanut butter granola bar, a banana on the bus.  A GU about 20 minutes before the start.  1 salt tab at mile 3, GU at mile 6.5.  I stopped about every 2 miles for just a few seconds and had water.

The canyon was so beautiful and I loved seeing that the colors are already changing.  I kept my music off for the first 6 miles just to enjoy the race and the beauty of the canyon.

After I was done, I jogged back and forth to the car a few times and then I ran up the course cheering for the marathoners.  I ran about 1.75 miles of the finish of the marathon with my brother, Doug.  He did great - his PR of 3:19 and was 5th in his division.  It was kinda fun to push him for that last, hardest stretch.  I ended up getting an extra 5 miles saturday, so I'll have to figure out how to add that to my mileage calendar.

My splits were:

1 -   7:13
2 -   7:04
3 -   7:11

Treadmill at WCCC. I started out for .5 miles at about 6.5 mph, then a mile at 8.5, then .5 miles at 9, .5 at 9.4, then .5 at 7.5. My legs felt pretty good today- it felt great to run fast again. After this, I went to a weight class for the first time in about 2 years! I think it'll be good for me to do some strength training at least once a week.

Snow canyon. Great to be back running the canyon. My hips and bum were pretty sore from the weight workout yesterday. I may need to be careful with the squats, next time so I don't over-do it on my lower body.

I finally posted my Boston Race report. I don't know why I let it sit on my desktop all these months. Thank you for training virtually with me! Thanks for such a fun weekend. I will remember our time together forever!

I'm having a hard time getting up early. My chest just hurts at night and I am exhausted. The air has been a lite warmer, so I bundled Annalise and pushed her in the jogger for a run while Alex was at preschool. It felt good to get moving for a few easy miles, but now my back is kinda sore from the stroller.  I'll try to go early again next week
