Today was a little harder, my legs are getting tired and need a break. My goal for the week is 50 miles, so on Friday i will run five miles and then Saturday i will run four. Not much else to say. So have a good day...

Why not just run a slow pace 9 miler tomorrow then run 4 on Saturday at like a tempo pace.

From Barry on Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 21:51:35

I only want to run 50 miles this week. The reason why is because i ran 45 miles last week. They say to only add up to 10% per week when you are increasing your mileage per week and my legs are soar right now. I think the reason why i got shin splints was because i increased my mileage to fast. How far are you going to run on Saturday?

I would still do a longer run tomorrow to boost your endurance and fitness... then maybe just do two miles on Saturday and that would only put you at 11.5% over from last week.

Just getting two 9 milers in a row would boost your confidence. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the advice. But i think I am going to stick with my five miles today. I am building my confidence with running 50 miles this week. I think next week i will boost it up to 55 miles. Thanks again and have a good day...

Always stick to the plan :) This is coming from Queen of breaking that rule and then breaking herself! ALWAYS stick to the plan :)

How is the shin?

From barry on Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 12:38:16

Thanks, my legs are really tired and need a break. The shin is doing good. I started wearing my bandaging at night and it has helped a LOT. And also rolling my calf's helped just as much. Something i think you should do to help with your legs. Think about it!! :)

Here is a website that talks about the foam roller and even explains how to use it. If you have any questions pleas let me know.. :)
