St George 5k (3.107 Miles) 00:17:20, Place overall: 7, Place in age division: 1 | | 9am- Stg 5k
Most of the guys on the team that raced slept at my house last night and me and Macen watched lost till like 1:30 so not the best pre-race sleep. This was like my 2nd non xc 5ks so it was fun cuz I felt so cool being so much faster than evrybody else. I tried to make my 1st mile 10-15 seconds slower than usual but it wasnt really that slow but whatever I was still able to pass a few guys in mile 2 and 3. After I passed mitch and preston and jake then me and dallen were just cruisin together. Then Dallen passed me and yeah. I had quite a bit of kicking power left and I had a dope finish but Dallen was like 50 meters in front of me. It was a super fun and relaxed race. I got 1st in my age group which is funny cuz my birthday is on sunday so one more day and I would have been like 5th in my age group. Got some free massages and gift certificates and a cool rock. Partyin in the USA

3pm- Time Trial
I got a PR by one second which is alright but not amazing considering I set my previous record in cross season. I wasnt expecting much for this race since ive missed quite a few runs in the past week because I had my wisdom teeth out. Lap 1 was 108 and I really cant help letting that first lap be fast so whatever. Lap 2 I chilled out so I could hit the 3rd and 4th laps really hard. I ended up with 225 after 2 laps and there was about a 15 meter gap between me and Jake Preston and Mitch. I could hear Paul yelling to make a freaking surge and catch them but I was totally already doing that anyways. I closed that gap pretty easily with my 3rd lap surge and lap 4 I was right with those guys. The last 300 I passed Mitch and Preston and ended up finishing right next to Jake. 448 is decent but I definitly took a hit on my time because my expectations were really low. If I can just get myself to get rid of any expectations and just let loose and go all out from start to finish then I think I will be able to easily break 440 this year.

Dog Town Half Marothon (13.109 Miles) 01:18:27, Place overall: 6, Place in age division: 1 | | 9am- Dog Town Half
So today was good. I had a good race despite the fact that nobody was handing me little paper cups of water all the time. I rode the bus right behind Aaron Metler and that was cool but I was all alone for the ride cuz Nick and Cam sat together and nobody else wanted to sit by me. I saw a dead cat and also a dead rabbit in the road on the way over. We warmed up like 5 minutes and then listened to some hardcore rap to psych myself in. The first couple miles were good and I was going like 423 pace according to my watch. The leaders were pretty far in head and I was in a pack with Prston Andrew Kade and some other fast guy. On the detour in the neighborhoods I got some random knee pain and fell off that group. I was really worried about my knee because I was only like 3 miles in but after like 400 meters I was fine so whatever. I was feeling pretty good and in a nice rythym and I was kind of expecting Jake to catch up to me so I could run with him but he didnt catch up so I was all alone. I passed Kade going down through the canyon of coral and I was quite surprised that he had lasted that long with those guys. On the way down to the Hell Hole I could see Preston and the other guy had broken away from Andrew and all the way through the Hell Hole I was reeling Andrew in. I caught up to him at the boardwalk and we ran together untill after Sullivan Park where my dad got me some water then I broke away from him and never saw him again. I settled into a good fast pace and then my dad got me some more water. Coach came and talked to me right before the hill by Jakes house. He told me that I could catch the guys in front of me just keep it rolling up the hill and kill it on the downhill. So thats what I did. But the guys in front of me were not as weak as I would have liked which was unfortunate. The last couple miles I just focused on making my strides longer and faster untill the finish. Winning my age group was fun and I beat my time from last year by like 8 minutes. It was real fun. But yeah half marathons make me way tired.

| | 615am- Man today was a miracle from heaven. When I woke up their was snow falling through the air. Running in it however, was not a miracle from heaven. It froze my face and gave me brain freezes and such. It was really sucky.
3pm- Today we started decatholon to determine the overall best athelete. Before we did that though, we ran around the track like 500 times or so. We did the 400 and shot put today and I beasted in the 400 with a 1:00:52. Shot put I was granted the honor of being in the 21+ group throwing an amazing 24 9. Wow. I should be a thrower.

|
| | 615am- Well this morning Nick wasnt feeling like doing a morning run so I had to get a run from my father. We did 30 minutes out past arctic circle and today nobody even showed up only like me, Cam, Preston, and Andrew and thats about it.
3pm- Today was round 2 of decatholon events. We warmed up to DI and my hair was blowing in the wind wierd and it bugged the frick out of me like I was freakin out. Anyways we did more laps on the track reverse indian run and people kept getting but hurt that I wasnt staying in line and then they harrassed me so I punched some guys. I wore my skin tight tank today to minimize wind resistance in the 300m hurdles and it definitly helped. In my heat it was pretty much just me and Jake battling it out for 1st. It was a pretty intense sprint to the finish but then I rolled my ankle right before the second to last hurdle and I ran straight through it and I hit my shins pretty hard on that poor hurdle. Jake took the W but next time its all me. I totally would have won if it wasnt for that. After that dissapointing event (in which I got a time of 52.37) we did javelin and thats always fun cuz it makes me feel like a spartan warrior. My form needs some work but I threw a decent 74' 6''. I feel like Im in decent shape to place well in this decathalon.
This track season I am planning on blogging alot more and being more dedicated to my writing so from now on I am going to be doing good blog entrys I think.

Saucony Kinvara 4 Miles: 9.20 |
|
| | 3pm- Today I happened to not do a morning run because of various pain in my body. I got like an extra hour of sleep and it resulted in a great day. To kick off round 3 of decathalon we did some 110 hurdles and I took second in my heat with a time of something I actually forgot. Not very impressive placing though cuz my heat was no bueno. Man hurdles are really fun, I wish I was good at them. After that we ran a bunch of laps to get minutes in then we headed over to do the 200. That race was decent but I wasnt really feeling explosive and fast I only got a 27.27 but it was fun. Then we ran some 1200 loops and 800 loops and half of a 1200 then backwards for a fourth of a lap then a backwards 800 loop and we went to the high jump. By this time my inner thigh and calf were in lots of pain and I was sick of running on them so I stopped my time. Yesterday I was getting way pumped for high jump and so I was totally ready to jump like 8 feet. It is very fun to watch people fail in high jump ;) hillarious stuff right there. I had some decent jumps and people were not understanding that 3 strikes and your done so waiting in line took forever. Then it happened. We were at like 5 feet and some guy (I will not name him) landed on the bar and broke it. Since Jake broke the bar last year I will not be suprised if coach gets extremely furious when he finds out it got broke again. Anyways we will be continuing that event tomorrow after it gets duck taped. Gotta say, today was a great day.
|
Saucony Kinvara 4 Miles: 3.40 |
|
| | 3pm- Pretty garbage day today. Still no morning run cuz my body just feels really beatup and stuff. We went straight to round 4 of decathalon- discus and 100 and long jump- without any warmup. I threw like a 55' 6" in discus. I didnt get a second try because Trevor didnt want to let anybody have second trys. Then we did 100 and I won my heat with a time of 13.48. It was fun to watch Jacob and Samson race eachother cuz their both pretty freakin fast. After that I went and did some long jump and got 15' 1" (jumping off my wrong foot both tries but whatever). Coach brought out the high jump and unfortunately I couldnt make it over 5' 2". I need to warm up before going straight to 5' 2". My last attempt I landed on the bar and let me tell you that is no fun. My back hurts like heck. After we finished up with all the fun stuff we headed over to the sprinter hills and did 5 of those and ran straight back so I didnt get much mileage today but hopefully that will help my body recover from feeling so garbage.

| | 615am- My legs still do not feel great but I went to the morning run anyway. Apparently we have picked up the pace on these again so we got all way down to Starbucks and I was tired. Some of the guys were going to the state basketball tournament so they did their Kosmin but I didnt go out and watch them.
3pm- Today we did the Kosmin and it was hardcore. We warmed up around DI and I forgot to start my watch and that sucked. My legs were a bit tired from the increased pace of the morning run but not to bad. The 800 guys went first and I marked for my brother which was nice cuz I didnt have to move far from the start line. After that I shook my legs out and got ready for my Kosmin. I got a nice start out in lane 4 and the first lap I was pretty close to the 400 mark, the only person in front of me was Andrew. Round 2 I was getting tired and I could feel that #3 and 4 were going to be torture. On the 3rd round I was dropping further back from Andrew and Jake was right behind me. On the 4th round I just tried to go for it but by then my legs were to dead to get a decent kick. Usually I can pull a beast kick out of all the pain at the end of a race but my legs had nothing in them at all, it was a pretty helpless feeling. Jake ended up passing me and I got like 1465 I think. Pretty beast workout, it always freaking destroys my legs.

Saucony Mirage 3 Miles: 8.00 |
|
| | 4pm- This morning I did my eagle scout project which was planting like 200 trees by the river. It rained and it was muddy and really fun. Me and my dad and my brother went for a run up Dino Cliffs but my dad was to fast for us and Nick was hanging back like 20 seconds so really I ran alone. After a couple miles my ankle started hurting a little. Then it started to really hurt. I was really struggling like I could barely stand on it and I cant even describe the pain I was in. Once we got to the sand mountain trail it was nice cuz the sand made a nice landing cushion. But then we got to the downhill part and it started hurting again. I was nearly in tears cuz we still had like 4 miles left. But whatever I started my tempo with Nick and my ankle stopped hurting. Wierd stuff. We tempoed all the way home and then I imediatly went and iced it and watched some Parks and Rec. Beast show by the way hillarious stuff right there.

Saucony Mirage 3 Miles: 9.20 |
|
| | 615am- Back to work. 30 minutes. I was really struggling on this run because the muscle on the side of my shin was super tight and it was hard. I really wish Macen would get better cuz its lonely being the only freshman at morning practice.
3pm- It was early out today and me and Macen went to my house and chilled and ate food and watched parcore fails on youtube. Also we played some pool but we didnt get to finish cuz Nick came to pick us up. Early outs are some of the only days that I can get to practice on time so I got to do all of agilities and such. They sucked. I dont like them much. Me and Macen chilled on the warmup like 30 seconds behind everybody. We got to do some mile repeats today. #1 was nice and good like 520. I cant remember my times all exactly but they were all in the low 520s. #2 was hard and it sucked but that is probly cuz I wasnt trying. #3 I got my but in gear and stuck right on the pack and took the lead for the 3rd lap. #4 lead for the ffirst 800m and then I just let the pack work for me and I kept all my repeats nice and consistant. I finished off with 2x300s all out. Those were like 44 and 43. After that was done we went and lifted. I was feeling really weak but I benched like 250 anyways. Doesnt get much better than this.

| | 615am- 4 miles easy around the town in the rain. Everybody keeps giving me crap for wearing no sleeves. yolo
3pm- We had like 60 minutes or so. We went down mainstreet and then we went down Hells Hole. We stopped at the bathrooms and after like 6 minutes Nick finally finished. Then he went back in for like 10 more minutes and we just left him. It was cold and sucky

| | 3pm- I didnt do a morning run cuz I didnt want to. Shame on me but I did get some really nice extra sleep. Today was pre-race because tomorrow is Hurricane allcomers. We did foremaster backwards and it was sucky and uphill. Got some 200s in after and they were fun.

Hurricane Allcomers (0.994 Miles) 00:04:54, Place overall: 17 | | 615am- Nice 30 minutes not to bad
330pm- Hurricane allcomers- 1600m
First of all I would like to say that I very much dislike the city of Hurricane. It is my least favorite city in Utah. It allways puts me in a bad mood. Anyways on the way over to the meet I discovered the game Pancake on iphone, its so fun, definitly the highlight of my day. They started the meet 30 minutes early so I didnt warmup or stretch or change into my racing socks we just headed over and ran. I was slow like 454 or so but idek if they even timed the race. I dont know what place I got either. Whateverrrrrr idecare. I would rather not talk about the high jump but at least I didnt make people laugh at me. Thruout this whole meet I just randomly went on small runs to get miles in. I really liked watching my bros run 300m hurdles :) My dad gave me 10$ for food and such but Nick spent it because he claims that dad gave it to him even though he aready spent the money dad gave him. I dont even want to talk about that cuz he just is just not smart sometimes. I destroyed in the 4x4. Dead last. I put in a suprising amount of effort just to get last. The whole time it was freezing and freakin windy. Still really fun first track meet though

|
| | 8am- K so today we did some mile repeats and I was having trouble. The first one wasnt bad like 524 or so but the next 2 were around 530 and 536. The last one was like 525 again. The problem was that on the 3rd lap I was getting like total system failure. I felt like my intestines were turning inside out, I couldnt breathe, and also I felt like throwing up. It made pushing myself insanely hard.
3pm- for my after noon run I didnt feel like getting out in the world so I did a treadmill run and I synchronized both the upstairs and downstairs tvs so that I could listen to parks and rec on the headphones which are only available on the upstairs tv but the treadmill was downstairs. It was very complicated but totally worth it.

|
| | 8am- Yeah today was real good. We went on the river trail and looped it all the way around arctic circle. I wish I could describe where we went but I dont know the names of roads so too bad. It was a very eventful run. Preston saved Skylars life but then he went and tripped over a suspended chain and broke his watch :)
3pm- We went and shot some guns over by the border. I killed a lizard with a 22 and I felt kind of bad but not really. Me and Nick ran from there back along the road. We explored a little community and discovered a sweet basketball court and big field and also a small pond. It was a park. We ran like 30 minutes and I saw some dead animals on the side of the road like scattered birds and rabbits.

|
| | 8am- We did old man hills today. Me Nick and Mitch had 800,400,200,800,400,200, and then another 400 and 200 to finish it off. I felt pretty good and stuff but it was still super hard. Directly following this workout I invented a new pace called ReCool #1. The Re stands for return as in a cool down returning from an out and back run. Cool stands for cool down. The #1 means basicly if your speed was on a scale from 1 to 100 it would be a 1. So my cool down was nice and slow. And lonely, nobody was as slow as me but whatever they were missing out. Coach found some Amino Fuel on the ground and gave it to Cam who gave it to Nick who gave it to me. It was cherry bomb flavor so I kept it. I even tried some when I got home- it smelled like bread but it tasted like dark wild cherry flavored protein. I was kind of scared that I would throw up but I didnt which is good.
3pm- 30 minutes on the treadmill again. Idk why I did it on the tread mill but I watched some more parks and rec while I ran.

Saucony Kinvara 4 Miles: 10.60 |
|
| | 11am- I didnt really want to run today but Im not a loser so I did anyways. I was going to do my tempo on the track but I decided to do it on the river trail. I stopped at the bathroom at sullivans park, and then I started my tempo. I did a sessiion of 10 minutes at 540 pace and then a session of 5 minutes at 530-20 pace. It was hard and I sweated a ton. When I was done my blood circulation was heightening my senses and I discovered some Desert Chiva footprints. They might have been something else but Im pretty sure they were goat tracks. Then as my heart rate slowed I also discovered some red ants on the rock I was sitting on. I was tired though so I just let them crawl on me. The rest of my run I haad a really sucky side ache and I went like ReCool #2 or #3 pace (nearing 10 minute pace) hehe. Yeah I smell real bad right now so im gonna go take a shower probably.

| | 3pm- Im layin off the morning runs for a bit because my lower leg area is really sore and fragile lately. I been icing my anterior tibialis and stretching and watching parks and rec and the same time #multitasker. During 3rd period I ate like 2 1/2 packs of skittles (which is approxamately 30 tsp of sugar) and I was on a major sugar crash during practice.
We did 4x1600s today and I felt like taking a nap in the middle of the workout. Suprisingly I did quite good. The first 3 I was sticking with the pack real good and the last one I took the lead at the start and lead the entire time. Im pretty sure it was because I took my shirt off, it helped me push that last one good. Every last lap of the repeats I hit the hurdles because of strengenthing is important. keepin it reallllll

| | 3pm- 30 minutes easy with Skyler and Macen. Everybody left us on acount of we are freshman and nobody waits around for the true gangstas. We went and did a random loop around some neighborhoods. Went shirtless cuz it was hot.
Pine View held a stellar youngster meet today. Me and Korbin found a sick pair of Oakleys and they were so fun to wear like seriously I get why they would cost 300 bucks they are so sweet. Yeah so I was showing off my new shades and I remembered that I had to call 1law to get sponsor money from them. I went to the glass room to make this important buisness transaction. I got cash money. Jk the lady said she would wright a check but either way it was 150$. After that I went and helped out with the youngster meet. Then after the youngster meet I went and high jumped for a while with Macen and Im pretty sure I cleared like 4'11'' but idk we didnt have a bar. Also I practiced my scissor kick technique. Im getting pretty good

| | 3pm- no morning run cuz if im going to heal up im going to do it right. 5x800s at 3200 pace. I decided to hit 235s cuz I havent done a 3200 yet. Yep it was good I hit my times consistantly. I probably should have done 6 but I usually do lvl 3 on mondays and lvl 2 on wednesday. Yolo i should just become lvl 3 anyways.
Weights today and I decided to max out on bench because of strength is important. I was struggling to get 115 which was really bad. I was really disapointed but then Macen discovered that the bench was on an incline. stupid I should have checked that. We fixed that and now I have my new pr of 130. True gangsta right here don mess with me

| | 615am- I decided to do a morning run and I did and it was good. Also I turned in my sponsor money.
3pm- 45 minutes pre-race with 2x200s. We did the shoe run and it was good I would say. We jumped in sandbergs because yolos the motto and it was amazing. The cold water gently relaxed every muscle in my body. The 200s were good but I was supposed to do 4 but I did 2 cuz I wanted to go high jump. High jumping was good. We finally had a coach there and so I learned a lot. I scissor kicked like 4'8'' and after that I went and got my spirit pack out of spirit prison. gotta say today was a good day

Hurricane Invite 1600 (0.994 Miles) 00:04:49, Place overall: 10 | | 330pm- Hurricane Invite- 1600m
Not very great race. Pre-race coach was telling us to make sure to not start out too fast. Unfortunately we all ended up starting way to slow. The leaders separated pretty quick and I wasnt even close to them. Lap 2 I was still sittin in the slow pack so on the back stretch I surged from the back of the pack to the front. By that time there was a huge gap between us and the leaders and I was wiped out from my move and when some of the guys surged I couldnt even go with them. The rest was no bueno those first couple laps set me up very badly. After a race I can tell if I went hard enough and I didnt.
To get minutes I ran around with Cam and Bryan and Brianna. Me and Cam had a nice discussion about 24.

Today was my shot at redemption. Nope this race wasnt very good either. Nice workout though. We did not run as a team I think. Not much else to say
Also I did the 4x400. About an hour before I drank some Mt Dew Kickstart and it was a great hydration boost. I felt pretty good I ran like a 58 I think. By the end of the year I hope to shave like 3 seconds off that.

Snow Canyon JV 1600 (0.994 Miles) 00:04:56, Place overall: 2 | | 615am- I didnt want to get tired for the JV meet this afternoon so I only went 20 minutes. Nobody judged me for it too. thumbs up
4pm- Snow Canyon JV meet- 1600m
We warmed up on a dope trail for like 20 minutes or so. This race was quite slow. Me and Dallen and Mitch were all together for the first couple laps. Then we slowed down way on the 2nd lap. I totally should have won this race but I guess I wasnt in a fast mindset because it was just basicly me and Dallen running a workout together. Dallen kicked pretty hard on the last 400 and I wasnt ready. I nearly caught him in the last 200 but not quite. I thought we were going faster than we were but nope. No speeed
Later I did High Jump like a beast in my jumping spikes (aka my regular spikes). Somehow we talked the lady into starting at 4'10'' instead of 5'0''. My first jump- cleared it no problem. Macen had his gopro and Caroline was supposed to be videoing us but I could tell she was not getting it done so I gave it to Nicole instead. At 5'0' Paul told me to do the slow clap and so I did. A huge crowd had gathered and the clapping sent adrenaline coursing through my veins. I cleare 5 feet but then I didnt clear 5'2''. Whatever man it was still awesome. And Nicole ended up getting a pretty sick video too.

| | 630am- Nick left me for the morning run. yep. I was going to just go baack to bed but dad cussed me out so I went for a nice 32 minuter. It ended up being really nice run, very peacefull. I got ready for school nice and slow and ate plenty of cereal and such. Then mom told me she wasnt gonna give a ride and mi padre was already gone. Same with the bus they were all long gone. So yolo I ended up walking the 4 miles to school. I aint gonna lie though it was real nice weather I quite enjoyed it. All I missed in first period was The Lion King so I basicly missed nothing.
3pm- Pre race shoe run. Epic stuff. We stopped at sulivans park and we saw a turtle, captured a dead fish in a bag, and also Brian captured a duck. Then he threw it into the air to fly but it was apparently a flightless bird and it hit the concrete pretty hard. It waddled away fine though but still that was bad. We ran up the hill and left the dead fish on the guys doorstep and knocked the door and ran away. Then I petted a huge eagle in somebodies driveway. On the way back we stopped at Sandbergs pond and swam and it was great. When we got back Nick went shopping and I watched the soccer game. I called dad for a ride because I didnt know how long they were going to be getting stuff for tomorrow. Bad idea because they showed up the same time he did so he wasted a trip. Im straight up pumped for the PV Invite tomorrow.

| | 615am- We had a nice quick paced 30 minutes. And also we had some good donuts.
1pm-8pm- Today was the Pine View Invitational so I ditched school at lunchtime and walked over to the high school with Jaxon and Brianna. By the time we arrived there was already a ton of people at the track. Coach let me run the clock and everybody said Mr. Miller was going to do the annoucing but he never showed up so I did all of that as well. Needless to say I screwed up some things but I got the hang of it after a while. Also I gave a shoutout to my big bro right before his race and he PRed so I think I did alot of good. Towards the end I was messing up a bit because I was doing a lot of things at once and also theres always a bunch of idiots chillin in the box because they think that they should be allowed to (the reason I use such strong language is because said noobs took all my oreos and gummy worms). But yeah I got pretty good at announcing stuff. After a succesful day 1 of the meet me and Nick got pulled over on the way home and thats always fun.
930pm- I was stuck all day in the press box running the timers and making announcments so I got in a nice late night 20 minute shake out run. Also I stretched and got pumped for my race.

Pine View Invite 800 (0.497 Miles) 00:02:05, Place overall: 18 | | 11am- Pine View Invite- 800m
Since I am now an experienced annoucer/timer coach made me run the press box but I left after the 300m hurdle finals to go warm up. I hurried and drank my Mt Dew kickstart (with coconut water) so that Id be on an intense caffeine buzz during my race. Me Cam and Jason warmed up around the DI loop, idk where Skylar was. We got down on the field, strided out and threw water on our faces and stuff.
The gameplan for this race was pretty straight forward: take the first lap as it comes and hit the second lap hard as a mutha. My beautiful Mt Dew got me though the first lap decent but with so much people I still was near the end of the pack. I could see my teamates up in the pack further and that was a little discouraging. I pushed all the doubt out of my face and coming in to the second lap I moved to the outside and started picking my way thought the pack. Coming down the back stretch I was starting to get hardcore boxed in so as soon as I saw a gap I shoved myself passed people. It was getting pretty physical and as I broke through the pack I got a decently hard shove in the back from some kid which gave me a nice boost coming into the final 200m. I pulled out a pretty sick kick for the last 200 and I gave it all I had. I aint gonna lie, that last 100m was pure hell. I ended up passing up like 3/4ths of the guys in my heat that 2nd lap, finishing 5th in my heat and 18th overall. It was a pretty good race and I can tell that I went all-out because I threw up every bit of water that I tried to drink (hopefully they emptied the garbage in the press box).
I took a nice nap and just chilled in the box for the rest of the meet. I got a sick new pair of SGs from the lost and found, nobody claimed them, I didnt straight up steal them. The lenses are very reflexiony. After the meet we went to GoSnow and watched Starwars and played James Bond at mi casa. Gotta say, today was a good day.

Ultaspire Distance Carnival 1600 (0.994 Miles) 00:04:42, Place overall: 7 | | 620am- Nick didnt want to take me to morning practice on acount of his achilles hurts so I ran from home with mi papa. We did a nice 4 mile loop and it was quite peaceful.
8pm- Ultraspire Distance Carnival- 1600m
Me and mi hermano arrived at like 715 or so and it was quite chilly. Lucky I had 2 shirts 1 sweatshirt and 2 pairs of shorts on. I watched our guys do the 1500m for the decathalon and then I went and warmed up a bit. Then I curled up on the ground and conserved body heat. For the start of the race I was in alley #2 (my favorite alley) so I felt very blessed. I had absolutely no plan for this race because I do not believe in mentaly preparing and such. Any decisions that I make will be made in the moment not beforehand because that doesnt leave me freedom to do as I feel.
My start was quite good and fast and so did most of the PV guys like thats all that I saw for the first lap was our team. I think my first lap was like 107 or something. Lap #2 brycen and some guys passed me and my reaction was a little late. I did start kicking it in gear but not untill they had already gapped me a bit. The last lap was decent but as I was starrting to kick hard some Snow Canyon guy passed me and slowed down right in front of me and that really just screwed up my kick. I stepped on his shoes like 4 times then I attempted to go pass some guys. so annoying. This was a nice race and a sweet PR but as soon as I fix up a couple of things then I am totally ready to go sub 440 then sub 435 and maybe by a miracle I could state qualify. But that is still 10 second away so I got to focus up and start having some killa races
also just a side note here I am on the Lone Faithfuls list again so please comment or something. I dont like being on that list

Desert Hills Invitational 3200 (1.988 Miles) 00:10:12, Place overall: 9 | | 9am- Desert Hills Invite- 3200m
Well the bus was late picking us up from the highschool so I rode over with Cam. The bus showed up right as we left but yolo we drove over anyway. Me and Dallen and Jake and Mitch and Andrew and Preston warmed up around the loop in which Jake got stung in the face by a bee yesterday.
I started out in the last alley on the very outside and that sucked and the first lap was like a 114 but I was still pretty far back in the pack. Coach was yelling at me to move up there and I was having some trouble doing that cuz guys dont like to move out of the way. I wish everybody was just chill and fine with letting people move around the pack but nope, they make me go around them every time. The dude next to me was always right up in my grill but after the 3rd lap everthing spread out pretty good. My 1600 was around 459 and I tried to keep it going for the next. I need to work on the second 1600. I think that I was running with Andrew and some guy from Richfield but im not sure my memory is not good right now. The Richfield kid was making a surge and breaking away from me and Nick and Paul were yelling at me to move up around him but I didnt what can say I just didnt. Looking back, if I had pulled out a major surge and gone with him I would have been way closer to breaking 10 minutes. With 400m left I was at 9:00 flat so I was thinking man I can state qualify easy I just got to run a sub 60 400. Easy. jk. I still had a nice last lap though and a pretty good kick. Still a step off my best but I will get there.
Afterwards I drank some water and we went on a cool down. I got some airheads (the best candy ever) and we all got some snacks and headed out. Unfortunatly I somehow lost one of my airheads. It was pretty sad. We ran over the dirt mountain and me and Jake went at pomagranit pace cuz he was eating an orange and I was eating my remaining candy. On the return trip we were being stalked by some bees so we caught up with the group for strength in numbers. Nick ran in the 4x400 and they missed state qualifying by less than .5 of a second. The sun murdered my skin and I was tired for the rest of the day and we watched starwars at Zachs and ate food. Gotta say, today was a good day

We had full recovery after that luckily cuz that was at "all to the wall" pace. My 400s were consistently at around 110 with 1min recovery. After 4 coach let us recover for 5 minutes. My 5th one was like 106 then my 6th was around 114 and I couldnt breath very good so I stopped. Then I went and pumped some iron. I currently have a migraine so ima go to bed

| | 6am- We had a morning workout today because we had a youngsters meet in the afternoon. It was cold and windy but I brought a jacket so I was prepared. We warmed up to Hearts and back and the 16/32 crew did 6x800s at 3200 pace. Despite the wind, I was hitting my times right on. We took heart rate every 2 repeats. Me and Preston were runnning together on most of them. My repeat times were around 229/230 for the first 5 and on the last one I hit 228. Good workout. Yeeeezzzz!!!!!!

My goal was to get like 435 around there at least sub 440. There is not much to say about this one. I dont know if it was a bad day or I was just being lame and either way it was just not a fast good race for me. I ended up with a 442 basicly matching my previous PR. Dixie Invite 800 (0.497 Miles) 00:02:06, Place overall: 9 | | 11am- Dixie Invitational- 800m
I didnt wake up early enough and I only had some toast and milk for breakfast so not much nutrients. Upon arrival to the meet we chilled and ran some reverse indian run on the track. Then me and Cam did some backwards reverse indian run and then we watched the people do the 3200 in which like 3 of our girls and none of our boys qualified for state. Like 30 minutes before our race me and Nick and Cam and Paul warmed up to the park and around the city. I did some striders on the field as Cam was winning his heat of the 800 and that is good.
Me and Nick and Paul and Skylar were all in the same heat and I didnt even know Brycen was doing the 800 and he was right next to me in alley 3. I was thinking in my mind I am going to beat him today but nope. As soon as the gun went off I forgot what my plan for the race was and it resulted in a bad start cuz I was brain dead and trying to think basic thoughts. I started out slow like all the way in the back of everybody and that was bad. Coming into lap #2 I was still in like dead last and so I tried to get my A in gear. In my mind I was like freak I am tired. With like 250 left I saw Brycen like 3 seconds in front of me and so I caught up to him but then he started going hard and we battled it out for the last 100 meters. Hey I am ashamed that he beat me because I know that I could sprint faster than I did. Plus with how slow my first 700m were I should have easily been able to get up to top speed. But no he beat me by .08 and I now join Jaxon in the club of missing top 8 by less than 1/10 of a second. Luckily though you get ritz crackers if you are in that club so heck yes
This meet I got no PRs but next time I will because I will choose to make it hurt mas. Live mas. Its my life, my xbox. Coach is tired of me running slow and so am I. After we went and got some post-race GoSnow shaved iice. I have the utmost respect for that establishment and its merchendise.

Warmed up around the school and through some dope trees. They said they were going to do the fast heats first but they lied so we waited around on the field for a while. It was windy and wind gives me anxiety and so that sucked. I barely made it into the fast heat and I was on the very outside starting. I opened up fast in a 105 and it went downhill from there. People passed me and I did not go with them. I had no focuse and I let myself slow down. waaaayyy down. I actually was planning on being fast this race so after I was depressed cuz I did not go fast. Bummer. Major Bummer. Jk it was not bad but I got beat by a freshman and I need to get a good race in and bounce back.

Snow Canyon Invite 3200 (1.988 Miles) 00:09:59, Place overall: 10 | | 930am- SC Invite- 3200m
I slept on the bus ride over and im not gonna lie, it was great. The weather for the 3200 was perfect- nice and cool with overcast and light rain and barely any wind. I warmed up on the track with Jake and also Dallen and Mitch and I drank alot of water because of hydration is important. My plan was just consistantly hit 115 splits the whole race with extra speed at the first and last laps to push me under 10. and state qualifying would have been nice.
The start of the race was slow- the gun went off and I got right out in front with all of the Ogden guys but they were all hanging way back. Lap #1 was 115 which was on pace but I learned from science that you should start out fast and drop some time while your still fresh. Lap #2 they got moving and people started passing me. Dallen was right beside be and I sat right on him like a duck on a log. Somewhere around here Bryson passed me and I was a bit worried but i decided to forget about him and run my own race. Hes just a beast anyways and there is nothing I can do about that untill I become a beast as well. Me and Dallen got in a nice rythm and kept pounding out 115/114s till mile 1. My first mile split was 457 I think and so I was right on track. The next couple laps were rough but Dallen and I were rolling and i kept telling myself just focuse on 1 lap at a time dont fall off, dont slow down. Coming into the final lap I was going for state qualifying and coach yelled at me I have to run a 109 to do it. This is where I failed bad- coach said run a 109 but I ran a 109.38. I pushed hardcore and had a pretty nice kick. Unfortunatly yeah I missed state qualifying by .38. Its quite frusterating because I can think of so many places in the race where I couldve gotten half a second. I blame it on the Ogden guys for going out so slow. Im getting good at missing my goals by less than half a second.
I cooled down with JAke and Mitch and Dallen and I discovered multiple rabbits on the trail we were running on and so our cool down consisted of chasing down little bunnys through the lava fields. Not very smart but way fun and it also made me think of why rabbits dont ever trip or run into things even though they run at like 30 mph. The rest of the meet was awesome and Trevor gave me a huge cinnimon roll and I ate it, also I shared it with people to be nice. It started to be rainy and sucky but then I rememberd my parents were parked at the north end of the track in an air conditioned vehicle. Me and Jake hung out in there for the rest of the meet and it was real nice. Today was a good day beacuse really even though I missed qualifying I still got a nice PR of like 12 seconds so time to go chill, go eat more food.

| | 615am- nothing haha
3pm- Cosmin test todaaayyy. Wow it was hard and sucky no lie. The last one my legs were so dead I could hardly run. I ended up with a 1490 and I discovered that Im only running the 3200 at Herriman and that is depressing because I dont know if I will get to run it at Region so I might not get a chance to go sub 440 which I know I can do.
When I got home I took a 4 hour nap so Im just great right now. Also I was thinking of changing my blog name to "Alex's Feelings Journey" Any thoughts?

Herriman Invitational 3200 (1.988 Miles) 00:10:16, Place overall: 5 | | 10pm- Herriman Twilight Invite- 3200m
We showed up to Herriman at like 345 or so and I ran at 10 so I had alot of time to sit around and chill. We saw the giant dumptruck that fell down the mountain and that was cool. I forgot my running shoes so I found my dad and he offered to let me use his so that was good. The whole time that I was just chilling at the meet I was stretching and drinking water and doing yoga and I even drained my legs. I felt pretty prepared. Me and Dallen warmed up together. When we went over to sign in the guy seemed pretty desperate to combine the heats so we hurried and grabbed our spikes and laced up. Then he decided they would do 2 heats so we left. They had the first heat on the track but then they changed there minds once again to combine them so we ran over again and the guy is acting annoyed that we didnt have our spikes on. But its whatever that guy was dumb. I didnt even have time to change into my racing socks
I barely got like one strider in and then we started. Some of the guys were talking after about how packed it was but I couldnt tell cuz I was out in front :). I led for the first 2 laps about and Preston and Dallen were right with me switching leads. The first mile felt good but turns out it was pretty slow and so I was under pressure now to keep the pace. I was sticking right behind Preston trying to get in a rythm and work with him but these two guys boxed me in and pushed me out of my spot. Lap 6 was slow and I was falling off the top group. I was watching the clock and I could tell I needed to make a major push but my mental game was not there. As a result I fell even further back. The last two laps sucked bad. I was not where I needed to be and I was just trying to hang on. The clock was at like 902 coming into the last lap and I didnt want to push myself. I knew I already blew it and I was like whats the point. Dallen passed me and I went with him and in the last 50 I thought I might as well beat Dallen so I sprinted past him for 5th place.
I was disapointed but I didnt straight up suck. It was an overall slow race for everybody. The lights shut off and that was freakin epic. I was expecting to be in the 4x400 but turns out coach took me out of that and I was bh so I went and ran some allout sprints through some sprinklers by the baseball fields. Then I cooled down with Cam and Nick and Jake. Pretty cool meet.Cool shirt that i got. I hope to go to BYU next year though

| | 3pm- today I tried out my beast new Brooks and they were like running on a cloud. We had a goal pace 1000 and then 3,2,1, at finishing speed. Although my new shoes are dope and gold (which i posted a picture of their swag on instagram @alex_____hill) they are like padded bricks. That is an exageration but yeah they are way heavier than my Kinvara 4s. So for the speed of this workout it was really hard and I kind of wanted to take them off. But they are still really comfortable I will just have to save them for easy runs

3pm- hey the team left me but thats ok I ran with my freshman bros. They were being lame about running through the desert but it was ok. they had no idea were we were running. We stopped by the door factory were dylan works and got water bottles to run with
after that we had the championship youngster track meet and I watched my sister beast and feast and I did the signal flag for the rest of the time. I only messed up like once

4pm- Region 9 Championships- 1600m
I did not make the fast heat so basicly i had to change my race plan. I saw there was some decent guys in my heat though so the plan was let them take me through the first 800 and then take over the race and go for the win and PR in the process. The race started and a Hurricane guy got way out in front but I was not worried cuz I was confident that I was in the right place. at like 650 I could hear coach telling me to get out of that pack and so I started moving up and Jensen Lambert went to work as well, staying right on my tail. The 3rd lap I tried to keep extending the gap between me and Jensen and close the gap between me and the Hurricane kid. Lap 4 I was still feeling good and ready to kick hard and take the W. I moved into first with like 250 to go and Jensen must have been working his but off cuz he was still right with me taking the lead with 200 left. I gave it all I had and moved around him and took off the last 100 and won by 3 seconds.
Although it was a good race it was a slow one. so that sucks bad. No PR. No freshman record. Not a very fun way to end the season on another disapointment. I actually did have some good races but no great ones. I know i could have broken 440 and it really sucks that I didnt.

The race got delayed by lighting. I ran slow. I negative PRed by 22 seconds so yeah no state qualifying for me. Just not a good race. It sucks because I was so frickin close to qualifying but nope. It is a pretty sucky way to end the season but it is what it is. I had a great season but I cant help to feel like I let myselft down. I missed state qualifying by .38 and missed the freshman record for the 1600 by like 1 second over and over again. I failed to achieve my goals and I know I couldve. Time to get my butt in gear and train HARDCORE cuz next year Im not going to suck, I will be fast as

Nick texted me like 2 minutes before school got out and told me Im an alternate for the 4x400 so I have to go to practice. Dylan let me borrow some extra basketball shorts and I practiced handoffs and such. then we did 4x400s @3200 goal pace but they were way faster than that. Halleluja I dont have to go with my parents cuz they are going to a wedding.

We played frisbee with the soccer goals and I got the winning goal after choking on a wide open shot and was voted MVP of the day. Then we talked some basketball and I explained to Carsons little bro that there is no possible way that Steph Curry is better than Lebron. That kid has no idea

| | 7am- 60 minutes around washington. Good run. I keep working on getting my hamstring back to 100%. Right now Id say its at like 88%. Anything under 55% and I cant run on it so 88% is pretty good but it still bothers me. My mom gave me a hardcore lecture on nutrition and so Im going to make sure and get a good recovery meal (20% protein and 80% carbs and an extra 20% of fruit or veggies) within 30 to 60 minutes aftr my runs. After 60 minutes the abilaty for your body to replenish its glycogen storage drops dramaticly so to rebuild glycogen and muscle tissue it is essential that I get food in my body soon after a run.

Warmed up with the team and played some sepa. The girls team did amazing and Im moderatly excited to see wat they do this year. And us (the boys team) We started out way bad and because it was allcomer meet we got stuck behind slow guys. It took us quite a while to pack up and by the time we did we all were tired and so the pack did not last. When we hit the track the 2nd time we started to spread out. Dallen and Nick got moving. Last lap I had trouble pushing hard but me preston and paul worked together a bit. Me and Macen cooled down together and did a strider race which I destroyed in. Good times. SLOW race. 3pm- hottest long run of the year and I probably did not drink enough during the day.Ran with the group for a while then turned to do a shorteerr loop with the lvl 2s. I was running with Carson and Logan and Dylan but they were stopping too frequently and I was not wanting that so I went ahead. I took a quick break underneath the bridge by sullivan park and went up the trail. It was humid there with the puddles and trees but I was not sweating which was bad I think. The rest of the run was survival. I could barely keep my legs moving. Also I saw a wild dingo sneaking around but when I charged it turned out to be deer. 1 doe and 2 tiny fawns. The one baby deer looked just like a freaking dingo I could have sworn I saw a dog. Maybe it was chupacabra.

Got a good warmup with the guys and felt real good for the race.Watched our JV boys and girls win and also the Varsity girls. It was not a fast race for me. I dont know my time yet but I know what racing fast feels like and that was not it. We started good and packed up early. I led the group for a while though and nobody switched me untill I fell off. It was not a good attempt by me to stay on the pack and thats where I am dissapointed in my race. When Mitch passed me I started working again but he dropped me fast. Just not a good race for me. I didnt mentally prepare for it and when it came time to start pushing hard it wasnt even an attempt.
did some good striders and ate sour patch kids the whole way home.

Time Trial #2 (2 Miles) 00:10:44, Place overall: 8 | | 6am- good easy morning out past sunrise
4pm- Time Trial #2
Sick time trial for the boys today. We started good and fast with a strong pack. I was up in the front for around a half mile. After I tripped I stuck right on the back of the pack for the next while and we still had a solid 7-8 guys right there. I started getting tired so I threw in a surge to try and move up. I took the corner at the bottom way too wide and it made a gap. They started moving and as soon as I fell off I just wasnt cruising anymore. last half mile was slower than I would have liked it, my bad. It was a great race, tons of guys PRed and we had strong races all around. The 800s after were cheese I led the second one no problm
I got 8th in the time trial. which aint where I want to be. I did some yoga and I going to really try and focus on being as fast and healthy as possible so I can get rolling and helping our team beast and feast. We are going to make things happen this year

620pm- Murray Invitational- Frosh/Soph race
I was kind of glad my race was last but kind of not. We hung out for a couple hours, ran through the course, watched the races, ate an apple. I felt good and prepared for this race. All good vibes. I showed up late to the start(10 minutes before the start) everybody was already lined up luckily our freshmen got us a good spot.
The start was good and quick, I got out right up in the front. I ran right with the top group through mile 1 and it felt like a really chill pace. I broke away into the lead without much effort and tried to start picking up the pace a bit. Through mile 2 I was all alone throwing in little surges whenever coach yelled at me. I pushed up the first hill and hit the downhill hard hoping to gap 2nd place more. After the 2nd hill I was really trying to get my legs moving and finish hard. I expected there to be more competition in this race but I led the entire time. After I finished I was way excited to see Carson coming in 2nd and Logan finishing a couple seconds after him. Really fun race and Im happy i was able to win and also happy that our young JV squad are such beasts

Cedar Invite (2.95 Miles) 00:15:53 | | 6am- 30 easy
5pm- Cedar Invitational- Varsity boys
Nick didnt race today. I started in good position and stayed racing good for a while. Basicly I just chilled the whole race. I havent raced gutsy from start to finish in a while. i was 4th on the team (not counting nick who would have been in front of me as well) coming onto the track. Then Skylar comes sprrinting past me and Carson going hard with him. I knew I had to beat them so I did- only mentaly tough thing I did all race. I raced well but I didnt break out of the egg sack.
PV won and we all shared a victory powerade that Dallen found on the track. We didnt get much cooldown but we had to leave so we will just add it to tomorrows run. I heard that Preston, me, Carson, Skylar, and Jake all came in within 5 seconds of eachother. So I dont think we really helped coach out in deciding who to run at region. Glad I dont have to make that decision. When we got home the PV vs DH game was going but me and Nick picked up some costa vida and went home and watched the game on tv. Gotta say, today was a good day

| | Got up early to go help with the marathon at prestons aid station. Me nick and Jake went for a run early before any runners started coming through. We ran on some dope trails. My right IT band hurt pretty bad and also my calf and Jake was having problems too so our added 15 minutes from yesterday sucked. The marathon was beast.

UHSAA 3A State Championships (3.107 Miles) 00:17:26, Place overall: 39 | | 7am- early shakeout run around sandy. I felt really good and chill. my legs felt nice and loose and ready to destroy. I got a nice breakfast, we didnt have to leave till like 1030 so I hung out, drank some water. A lot of water. It was really windy when we got to the park and that worried me a bit cuz I dont like wind at all when I run. Chilled and watched races and tried to stay relaxed and ready to go.
130pm- 3A State boys
We got all warmed up and headed to the start. we got some striders in and prayed and jeez the countdown thing they do gets my adrenaline up for real. The plan for the race was to start out slower (not really my style) and stick with Carson, get him starting a little faster, and then stick with him as he moves up throughout the race. At like 150 meters mitch got tripped and preston ran into him but he bounced right back up. Carson was right behind me, skylar was right in front of me acrossed the top after the cement. I was nervous starting that far back but me and carson got moving good down the flower bed hill and caught up to skylar up the steep hill. I fell off Carson across the top hill after the pond. I was fighting hard but it wasnt happening. Skylar got around me and stayed a steady distance in front of me through most of the new section of the course. It was tough. I had a rough finish, my heart just dropped when I glanced at the time but my dissapointment was short lived. I looked over and saw my brother with the finish tape over his shoulder and found we got the second place trophy so I was pretty happy
We took some pictures and got a beast trophy. I was way happy that nick did so beast. I cant really beat my self up to much because hey ive had a not good season but I did as much as I could so I have to accept it and get better. Ive got 2 and a half more years left so no stress. and I doubt we'll be 2nd for much longer

3pm- 72 minutes/9.5 miles w 121121 pickups and striders after. It felt good but I was tired. I drank too much water after beccause it was so refreshing but it made me feel sick for striders. Julien gave me free pokemons to trade with lanee. My deck is becoming strong i think.

| | am- we drove up to cedar today to watch the big sky conferance chamionships and do a workout at the park. It was cold at first but it was perfect for the workout. We did 5min of tempo and 10x400s @less than 5k pace with 2 min recovery and it was pretty hardcore but we did good. The races were beast and it was a fun day. I hung out with macen and dylan later and we watched walking dead and skateboarded and watched utube snowboarding vids. that was my halloween
|
| | 5am- I really hate getting up this early. I only ran 20 minutes today because i was tired and race later so.
3pm- we had a race today but i might as well have stayed home. maybe I was dehydrated. this season I really have not had many good races. I am in amazing physical condition. I am a mental wreck. I dont know why or how and I dont know how to fix it. I dont feel like im in bad mental condition and I have no trouble being a beast. It is like i have been cursed

NXR Southwest Open Race (3.107 Miles) 00:17:17, Place overall: 79 | | 940- NXR Southwest- medium school open race
I have not done alot of race reports lately because of bad preformance issues. I was not racing with the varsity guys which was a bummer (second year in a row) but I hung out with them at the race and stuff. My fam came to watch nick so I came with them and raced in a open race. The day before I was pretty sick and feverish so I didnt get a very good sleep. I took some ibuprofen before though so I wasnt suffering during the race.
I didnt have good spikes to put in my shoes luckily they had free ones so that was good. I was feeling good and I ran the course backwards to warmup. Because I have not been running good lately I was really looking forward to running fast again. The race started and I got out fast (508 mile) which I havent been doing this year, but its more my style of racing and Ive been pretty succesful at it. I was hoping it would get me moving and get me back into racing fast. I slowed alot the second mile (10:45 or so).I wanted to be passing people but they ended up passing me. Any move I tried to make was short lived. I tried to not focus on anyone else in the race, just get into a quick rythm and stick with it but it wasnt really working out for me. Pretty much same pattern through mile 3 with an ok kick and I finished at 17:17.
Yep 9 seconds slower than last year. Its ok though, I dont feel like I was stressed or low confidence or anything else that I might blame my latest preformances on. Probably it was because I was sick (which later that day my fever and stuff was pretty bad and also on sunday). I got out of my spikes and cooled down by running around to watch the championship races and cheer my teamates. They did awesome but my favorite part was watching Casey Clinger break the course record. It was pretty cool and made me think how guys like that are always consistantly amazing and like whats the difference between being able to race good all the time and racing good on and off. Maybe its some pre race rituals idek. I cant wait for footlocker. That stuffs gona be epic.

Footlocker West (3.107 Miles) 00:17:55, Place overall: 28 | | 814am- Footlocker West- sophmore 2 I signed up for the wrong race so I didnt get to race with my teamates which sucked but it was a decent race. I started out slower than last year in a 5:10 then passed like 4 people up the switchbacks (last year i went out too fast and died on the first hill) i kept my position untill thetop of the next hill which then some guys passed me but i stayed strong on the back stretch. on resivour hill i was slow and basicly held my position untill the finish. nothing special. This race was the end of my sophmore season of xc and it was way awesome |
