Dogtown Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:15:43, Place overall: 6, Place in age division: 2 | | 8am- Dogtown Half
I got to bed early last night to rest up for this morning. I got up early, showered, ate a bannana and some carrots. I wore my costa rica singlet and my calavera boa shorts (looked fly as heck). Me and Julien got a ride to the start with my mom. we warmed up like 2 minutes and hung out with coach preston mitch and dallen untill the start.
We started out faster than in past years, credit to coach holt I think. I forgot thier names but a guy from salt lake and a guy from DSU started out in front. I grouped in with preston mitch dallen and coach and also james for a bit. We stayed together really good throughout the first 4 miles through coral canyon. The DSU guy was in front of us and we were slowly gaining on him down coral canyon. Once we got down on the road to Hell hole coach picked up the pace pretty good and I nearly fell off the squad, but not quite. It was a good mental win to push and stay with my teamates. We caught Shi-Quan Nettingham (I looked up his name) entering hell hole but couldnt break away from him. He surged and broke away but coach said calm down we will let him wear out then go catch him in the last 4 miles. I felt great through hell hole, it was nice and cool weather, good grouping and we were rolling easy. The warbys gave us some water at sullivan soccer park. When we hit washington fields road we started working again. Jason and Andrew jumped in with us. Dallen fell off our group. On the curvy hill I fell off. Jason held back and kept runnning with me. I got moving good again on the downhill and got ready for the last 3 miles. preston coach and mitch were in front of me like 30 seconds or so. Mitch pulled away from them on the Magestic hill and went after Shi-Quan. I went hard for the last couple miles. I closed the distance between coach a little bit but I couldnt catch him. Still had a strong finish though. It was fun
Julien finished in 1:23:something so that was cool. We hung out, he got first in his age group. I took second next to preston (mitch was top 3). It was a beast race. The shirts were dope this year. I hung out with julien and macen and dylan the rest of the day

PV Invite 3200 (2 Miles) 00:10:02 | | 9am- PV invite- 3200 seeded race
I havent logged like any runs for a while. Now that track seasons going ill probably log my runs again. Anyway yesterday i ran a 4x800 but I aint gonna race report it but I did do it. Our team got 3rd. My job was to hang with bryan and brianna in the announcers booth and helped time and stuff. I got to bed at like 11 which was dumb but hey it happens. I drank lots of water and ate an apple when i got up. Felt pretty good to race. Warmed up with the 32 crew. My plan for the race was to state qualify.
Race started pretty fast I think. After lap 1 I setteled back with preston and jensen behind the dhells squad I felt pretty good and kept a good pace with them coming through mile 1 at 454. so good so far. The next couple laps Preston and Jensen started pushing like they should and I wussed out. I thought to myself that all I need to do was keep running the same cuz I was on pace. thats where I lost all my time. I saw the time as I crossed the finish and thought shoot why did I do that. 10:02 is a good starting point though. Ill be alright I just need to grow upair and get out hard and stay hard the whole race. It needs to get real, i need to fight harder and race tougher. Mental battles fam, i got this.
The rest of the day was dope. I got my minutes in, hung out with my bros, got some snow cones, went to beast preisthood sesh, went to in n out, came home and hung with Julien but he left so I hanged with Rylee and Aspen. stayed up late cuz I could

| | 615am- Good morning run. Connor Arnell was there cuz stopping in stg on his way to arcadia so he ran with us. We had a decent turnout for a morning run. It was nice, we ran a bit quicker than usual.
3pm- After the early out today I went home, ate hot dogs and watched House md. Its a pretty good show. Then went to practice and did a good workout. It was 800-1000 at goal 1600 pace followed by full recov and 3 sets of 3-4 400s at various paces. Me and preston hit the first 1000 right on. The first set was cheese, second set I did 3 and it was getting hard. Last set I hit all 4 at goal 1600 pace and it was freakin tough. Nothing more satisfying than jello legs after a sweet workout tho.
weights after. I lifted 1 and a half meskerums

DH distance carnival 800 (0.497 Miles) 00:02:04, Place overall: 6 | | 615am-30 minutes easy
6pm- DH multis and distance carnivl- 800m
the 800 was later on in the meet so i jus chilled, watched the meet, and took naps for a while. I warmed up for like 15 minutes about and I felt really tired, the legs felt dead. I spiked up and did some striders. Still felt like taking a nap though. At the start line I was off my game. The gun went off and i got pushed straight to the back. On the back straight right as I tried to get moving some guy cut me off and I had to take a step out onto the concrete. I broke my stride to get behind him and back on the track. I didnt want to move to the outside on the turn so i stuck around there. By 300 in i was in like dead last. Came in 400 at like 104 so i knew i needed to pick it up a bit. Next lap i moved to the outside and passed most of the heat. Negative split by four seconds. Didnt feel very tired after, I started waaay to slow, it happens. When i came back from my cool down coach said "hey nice 400 next time make it an 8". u right... u right coach.

9pm- DH distance carnival- 1600
Another great day fam. It looked nice and cloudy for the meet. I was kind of hoping it would rain during my race. Anyways the 1600 was late so I had 5 hours to kill before my race. I did the distance medly, ran like a chill 58 400, got a gold medal (way to go team). Watched my teamates break the curse of the 4x800 record. At like 615 I went for a shakout run with Nick and the freshman. Nick showed us a cool 2 mile warmup loop. Felt good and ready. I warmed up a little more at like 745 cuz the race was supposed to be at 830 but they took long. Got some striders in, some high knees, good to go
I started good up in the front. First lap was chill like 108 felt good. The second lap Sage took the lead and gapped the rest of us. I stuck in with whoever was around me. On the 3rd lap I made a move and passed the group that I was trailing. Got passed up by a few guys between then and the 4th lap. Carson and some guy passed me with like 300 left. I didnt outkick either of them but I stuck right behind them to the finish. Im pretty happy with this race .My last 6 1600s have all been literally 442 so to finally break 440 was dope. It wasnt freaking awesome but it kind of was for me at least since I havent PRed in a year or so. Cant wait to PR more fam

| | 9am- Freakin beast run today. It was cloudy overcast so perfect weather. Me and nick and my dad drove up to the elephant arch trailhead. We ran over to the washington hollow wash and ran up that 4 miles. It was dope. Definitly some hardcore chiva territory. On the way back it started to sprinkle rain on us. Me and nick started a fast finish once we got out onto the trail again. About five minutes in I glanced back towards the canyons we came out of and all i could see is a wall of water closing in on us. We sped up trying to outkick the storm but as we got to the truck we got caught in a straight downpour and got soaked. Best run ive had in a long time. luv runnin

3pm- Coe workout #1 with some 10sec sprints after. My breathing was wack but still a good workout. Brianna found a bird that hit the window of the school. She picked it up and put it next to my head as I was laying on the grass. Then it flew away and crash landed onthe football field. Then it flew straight into the soccer net and face planted in front of the goal. I ran into the soccer game to save his stupid butt. Then I layed him under some trees to rest from his injurys. Im pretty sure some little mexican kids saw me put it there though so its probs dead now.

Dixie Invitational 800 (0.497 Miles) 00:02:09, Place overall: 28, Place in age division: 13 | | Julien ran a great 3200 today, he pred by 9 seconds with a 10:11. All alone in the wind too. I bet he could get it down to close to sub 10. He and mike are pretty beast freshman. After that I warmed up with nick skylar and paul for the 800. I was feeling great. got plenty of warm up in. I raced bad again though. Started out at the back and only slowed down from there. I cant even explain the feeling of finishing last by 5 seconds. Its not who i am. I really need to get good again. I couldnt find anybody to cool down with so i just cooled like a mile or so. Right now its just bad race after bad race. All i can do is keep grinding and try to pull some positive things from my races. Hopefully within the next couple weeks I can remember how to race with heart. To me its not worth it to be a good runner, especially when i know i can be great. |

3pm- It was cloudy and a little rainy this afternoon so that was dope. We did 6x300s at 800 pace. I kept it around 46s the full workout. Tried to open up more on the last few. They were really rough though. I tried to beast on the last one but with like 50 left I ran out of gas and got beat by a few of the guys. Me and julien cooled together. I had to stop and massage my leg cuz it was cramping. After the cool down they felt better. Me and julien got back a bit early and took a couple laps on the track. beat him in a 50 yard dash, dabbed acrossed the line for emphasis.

Race today was no better than my other races, only difference was my teamates worked with me and sacrificed to help me have a good race. We started off decent pace, Bryson and Eric took the lead early. Preston Mitch and Carson ran right with me and kept at good pace. First mile was slow, 501, but I wasnt worried, I felt good and mitch and carson were still right with me. The heat was intense, I was pouring sweat and my feet were burning. Carson got up in front of me. I was so focused on staying with him I lost count of the laps for a bit. With 2 laps left I was still just running with Carson. On the last lap I picked it up a little, Jensen passed me up. I went with carson and kept grinding untill I crossed the line. I already know that carson could have smoked jensen. He dropped behind me for the last 50 and let me take 4th. I depended on my teamates the whole race and Im really thankful for them. I havent been able to run good mentally this season at all. And im glad I have teamates to rely on when Im weak. 10:05 for my time. Not a bad time but not any better than the rest of the season. I have one more chance at state. hopefully I can get it.

| | 630am- 90 minute long run with pickups today. Trevor came back from wherever he was gone to I forget, but it was cool to run with him. julien didnt show up for practice. We ran to the top of green springs and then got on the trail over to middleton. Stopped at juliens house but no answer, bumma. On the trail somewhere I rolled my ankle pretty hard and it made a weird sound. my foot got messed up. Every couple steps there was sharp pain towards the back of my foot and i was really worried that I had broken it somewhere. When we hit the road again the pain stopped and I ran back to the school fine. The pickups were pretty chill. When we got back to the school I stopped early just to be safe. Brianna brought some letters from Brian and those were fun to read. Got a migrain when I got home so I drank a couple bottles of water and popped some painkillers and took a 4 hour nap.

Cedar All-Comers (3 Miles) 00:16:35, Place overall: 8 | | 7am- Im behind in doing this race report because it took a while for them to put the results online but yeah im pretty sure we ran like 30 minutes this morning.
6pm- Cedar Allcomers
We got there and I just hung out for a while and chilled and listened to music. They changed the course a little and the rest of the guys wanted to go run the course (at like 430) which I thought was unnessesary since ive ran it like 5 times before and they hardly changed anything. I drained my legs and shiz. The other races were boring. Me and macen warmed up. It was good. They took forever to start the race so I layed down for a while.
When the race finally started our guys started out pretty further back and I had to push through a few irrelevent guys so we didnt jog the whole race. Then we just chilled in pretty good pace for a while. lol some idiot parked their van in the middle of the course so I attempted to dent the hood with my hand as we ran around it. I fell off of Dallen and Mitch and Carson after a while because I didnt feel good. Then yeah I just finished the race and passed Carson. Not really a fast race for us and also we lost to DH but it doesnt really matter, we couldve i think. Im feelin really good about this season m8. we're gonna wreck

| | 7am- Got some new nikes from ross the other day. I wore them this morning and they felt good (and they stylish). We ran up into green springs and looped around the neighborhoods. I ran in the left hand turn lane most of the way down green springs drive because we decided its safer than the side walk. Then we went down to sanbergs resort beccause we had more time and I climbed some trees while everyone got a drink at the park. The resort is looking good. Its way full and the water is clear and there werent any cows around. But we didnt stop to swim. good run though

SUU Invite (3 Miles) 00:16:02, Place overall: 9 | | 10am- SUU invite- Varsity race
The weather was beautiful, cloudy and cool with no wind. We found a huge cricket with a red face and it was all striped, Carson licked it. they named him hector. The jv girls race got wrecked cuz of bad leading by the course officials who messed the frick up lol. Mikey and spencer raced beast in the jv boys race. The guys wanted to go warm up and I thought they were goiing too early but whatever. When we got back the girls were just starting. Varsity girls won barely. Good job by them. We warmed up a little more then I put my chain on, spiked up, and did some striders. Felt pretty good.
Race started, I got out quick with Bryson. I havent ran up with him for like a year and a half. It felt good. Hes a good runner. After about 1.5 miles I fell off of him. I was alone for a bit then all my teamates came around me. Carson Julien Mitch and Dallen were all there. That was a good feeling. I didnt open up the last mile like I needed to but I didnt do too bad. I finished 9th behind my team. Nobody around me in the final 200. Carson ended up catching Bryson which was good. We thought we beat dhells but not quite. Its aight though, we came into this race and got the job done and we'll continue to do that untill we're on top. and im gonna keep growing and improving and working hard every day.

Murray Invite (2.85 Miles) 00:15:35, Place overall: 63, Place in age division: 21 | | 615am- early 25 min shakeout run.
3pm- Murray Invite- Seeded Boys
I sat in the back of the bus for the ride up and it was lit back there with me and julien and caleb and mikey. I ate some bannanas and apple and cliff bars. We stopped at the provo mall for lunch. This trip was the first without the guys. I miss them alot. I like my team but its not the same. We got to the course and had a motivational inspirational guest speaker and he was good. Then the varsity boys we went on a warmup around the course. I felt average goodness. Decided not to run with spikes cuz there was a ton of asphalt and concrete.
after some strides and a team prayer we started the race. There was a lot of guys and I was worried about getting stuck in the back. Me and Spencer got out in front, it was pretty physical up there though. I got passedby my teamates and everybody else. I struggled to get going. I couldnt stick with any move I tried to make to get back in the race. I knew how much my team needed me, i felt so slow and defeated. Couldnt even pass xander or logan at the end. pretty rough. Ended up 63rd at like 15:35 (2.85 miles).
I took it pretty hard this race. I havent been racing where I want to be since freshman year. I usually dont get down on myself ever. I havent for a long time. Up until this race i have been able to try and grow and take positive things from all my races. But not on this one. I guess i broke. I felt terrible. 3 years of working out every day morning and afternoon and all I have to show is Ive gotten progressively worse. I strech and roll and drain and do pushups and situps and like 6 minutes of planks and wallsits every night. Im doing everything I should and more. I want to race good so bad. its killing me and i hate it. I hate racing bad over and over again. I need to put my teamates before myself. But I want so bad to focuse on myself. We are a great team, better than ever. they arent my tight homys though. my teammates i mean. people think I like to lone wolf but really I love being with the team and doing things with the guys. I guess it comes across like that because I do my own thing. I dont go with the crowd. and Im fine with chillin by myself. But im down to do anything for these guys. I dont like doing this but I figured I should write my thoughts. heh wow I wrote a lot. lol im not depressed though
I think im iron deficient. Like athletic anemia. I dont think my problem is in my head. If it was id be fine by now. i have like 90% of the symptoms. Ive considered it before but I wrote it off cuz I have a good diet. plus one time I took one of Rylees iron pills and I felt like superman the next day. Im gonna get my blood tested.

Nebo Invitational (3 Miles) 00:16:54, Place overall: 39 | | Nebo Invite- Varsity Boys race
Im not racing with the guys up at Bob Firman. So I ran with jv guys at Nebo (holt signed me and mikey and nathan up for the varsity race). The race was at Salem hills and I ran the course freshman year but they changed the course completely and they added like a huge section of farmland and the race didnt even go on the track at all. It was super rainy and bad weather so I hung out in the school most of the time. I stretched and drained. Me Mikey and Nathan warmed up together. I got 18 mph on a traffic speed measurer thing.
We spiked up and headed to the start line. I kept my jacket on untill the very start. It wasnt raining hard anymore though. The gun went off and I got out alright. I was towards the front. a big lead group broke off and I was just chillin. On the first mile idk what I got but I was on good pace. I got slower though, I didnt die hard but I didnt keep a good fast pace. When we hit the farm section the second time there was a group around me I tried to pass. That didnt happen but it helped me have some focus for the last 1200. I got passed by a few guys. Not a very good kick for me. It was kind of hard to sprint on the grass cuz it was so muddy from the races before. crossed the line at 1654.
The AF guys wrecked. theyre pretty beast. After I talked to Decker a little, he was basicly the coach for this meet. figured even though its another slow race it would probably be good enough to get back on varsity. My fam was there and I decided to go up to Boise with them to watch the boys and my sister and the girls race at Bob Firman. I cooled down a little by my self then left with my fam and we drove all the way to boise it was funn though.

wwooooh baby good race. not really but hey at least i didnt pr. we lost to desert hills by 7. because I got 23rd. I started mid pack and moved a little in the start. Then I hung around there and only got passed by a few guys. The guys did real good our top 4 were in the top 15 and good job. pretty uneventful race.

Region 9 (3 Miles) 00:17:17, Place overall: 22 | | 530pm- region 9 championships- varsity boys
I felt ready and prepared for this race in my head. lol i guess not. This was a straight up embarassing race for me. I chilled and drank water and ate an apple in the hours leading up to our race. We watched the other races. Then we warmed up. I got loose and did some striders and felt aight.
I started out further back, planning on moving up in miles 2 and 3. The front pack gapped and I was next to Logan. I held that for a while and I knew I needed to make a move and get passing people but I didnt feel strong enough, I was really struggling even though I know i wasnt going fast. Logan and DHs 5 6 and 7 passed me. Spencer passed me. Some kid from cedar bumped my arm and told me to go with him (more than my own teamates have done all season) and I ran with him for a couple hundred before i fell off. my finish was weak
really bad race tbh. idk why though. this season has been tough. Im still varsity for state so I still have another chance to help my team. Im literally doing everything I can to be ready. State will be exciting i bet.
