|
| | 3:30pm- Ran 40 minutes with hard finish and it really sucked. It was at least 105 degrees and we ran through deep sand and hard steep hills. Some parts I felt like i could have walked faster. It was really killer. I really tried to push hard but I nearly passed out for real but I didnt want to get 3rd degree burns on the burning sand. It was great.

| | 7am- 38 minutes or so run with 10 minute tempo like 6 minute pace. Im not sure how many total minutes cuz I didnt have a watch, but the guys came in like 2 minutes after me and jerry so yeah. It was good hard run, Matt really helped me alot during the tempo to not fall off the pace, it helped alot. I probly would have fallen back without him. Hes a good dude. No problems with leg pains so that is good. Im feeling stronger now that Im running more regulary.

| | 7am- Ran easy 30 minutes about 3.9 miles. My knees hurt a little bit but they got better as we went along. Running club after we played some capture the flag with the children (my team destroyed) then had them do a relay to scout out the faster kids.
3pm- Another easy 30 minutes about 4 miles. It was hot. We went to sandburgs pond. Some idiots said nice shorts and they call us qweers which we werent the ones checking out other guys but whatever it was funny. I had some trouble trying to keep up with the team but after a swim in the pond I felt quite refreshed and ready for action so that was good. Had some knee pain but not bad.

8:20pm- Throughout the day I had 3 rough basketball games so I really had to force myself to get out and run cuz I was just ready to go to sleep. After I got going though It was ok. I got like 3.6 miles it was a 30 minute run out in the desert of the chiva. First run in my new Cascadias.

It was good. It was my first race in a while. The course was pretty muddy and wet and stuff. I stuck with Jake basicly the whole time and it was good. Just a really hard race. Like at 300 meters left we both just went for the win but he won. He ended up beating me by one second but it was a good race so no regrets. Good first race of season kind of even though only 2 miles,
3pm- Afternoon run at coaches house. We went out under the freeway into the desert and it was hot as frick. After we swam in coaches pool and it was a party.

The race was awesome. I started off strong and me and Jake were both just sticking with each other throughout the race. I felt quite comfortable and relaxed but still going hard and pushing. It was great. Whoever was in first was long gone you know because just I dont know he just was faster than everybody else. Basicly he was like a minute in front of everybody like what the hecck was he doing in JV but whatever. Me and jake were beasting and feasting. We were just flying together it felt like and we stayed like that the whole race untill one lap left we pushed up the hill breaking away from Brycen. Then I was just feeling it and man I just kicked it in and broke away from Jake and kept pushing for like the last 400 meters. It was quite a good race for JV I thought even though DHells beat us like by 4 points or so. Varsity lost to Desert Hills as well but Nick got 1st like a beast. Thats my brother.

It was a hard race at the region course. I was really just going for a varsity spot on this race. So yeah bummer my varsity spot was get 6th in the race and I got 7th on the team so suck. What ruined me was I didnt have the balls to position myself at the front and stay there but I got to far back where I was trying to make up ground. on the second lap I was trying to move up spots and pass Jason and Preston but it was harder than you think. I couldnt just move up two spots on the team easy peasy so by the end I barely cought Jason in a sprint off but didnt move on to passing more dudes. It was not a bad racce or anything just I needed to beat more guys than I did. Some hardcore 5 minute cruise intervals after. Rockk on

3pm- 60 minutes with 5x sand hills. man i was super tired and also my hamstring which I injured in the summer hurt like at the start but it went away. on the hills I was wiped out man so it was mental toughness. The first 3 I just made sure I didnt slow down or be slow. then the last two I went yolo and purposely started like 7 seconds after Dallen and tried to pass him up. Which I did. Hills are dope.

Las Vegas Invitational (3.107 Miles) 00:17:22, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2 | | 8:30am- Las Vegas Invite- Freshman/Sophmore Race
The meet overall was awesome. Pine View destroyed. We really threw down on all those Nevada teams. My race was good. I started out in front and then it was me and Dallen and Mitch all right there in front. Around the second lap Dallen had pulled away from me about 5 seconds. All I was thinking about was winning. With like 800 meters left I was really working and pushing trying to get up to him where I could out sprint him at the finish. I was gaining on him but it was really draining me. Right after the pond like 400 meters left I was just digging deep trying to cut the distance between us and probably gained another second on him. 200 meters left I was going all out trying to pass him it was hardcore I was just going harder and harder and I was closing in on him. At the finish I was so close to passing him i nearly dived across the finish line. After the race i just kept thinking if I could have done something to be .4 seconds faster. Really though it was a great race for me and it was super fun. Especially since PV took every boys race. It was beast and feast.

3pm- PV Time Trial #3
We warmed up like 10 minutes or so then got back, got my spikes on, and we raced. It was not very good. I was not mentaly prepared for the race and stuff. The start was really fast and I could tell I was going to die off but when I did, I didn't do a good job of pushing through and staying up in the group where I should have been. On some other races I feel like maybe I could have pushed myself more, but this race I know I could have pushed harder. I got the same time as last time trial so yeah not my best preformance. After we did our mile repeats coach came to tell us varsity spots for upcoming meets and all that jazz. I was thinking crap because that was no bueno race but when he tells us who is going to Herriman on friday first thing he says is "Alex is going..." and I was like yes. Im running JV still though but still im going on a varsity trip so yes.

5pm- Herriman Invite- JV race
The race was really beast. I was the only PV boy in the JV race so I warmed up all alone and stuff. It sucked that I was all alone though like at the start everybody has like 10 people on their team and im just all alone. My start was good and the first mile I just went and got in good postition but it was hard because it was up a mountain. After that first hill I was pushing hard to pass some guys on the downhill. It was really fast and I passed a couple guys from Bingham on the way down the mountain but then a kid from AF came up and passed me and I pushed with him up the mutha cussa. The last 3/4 mile was brutal. On the mutha cussa I was super drained from coming down the mountain so fast and I just made myself push all the way up it. The mutha cussa was so hardcore my legs were on fire. For the rest of that gradual hill to the finish i was just trying to hold on. I was trying so hard to switch gears and get moving but really there was nothing left in my legs. The whole race the terrain is just hardcore and hilly so that just made the race super hard. The finish was definitly not my best but I kept my position for the most part I was 7-9 place through the whole race. On that gradual hill after the mutha cussa was where I could have used some teamates to help me push because I really fell a part in that section. It was good race but still I have room to improve.

| | 1:30pm- me and macen did an adventure run up a mountain which was hardcore then we discovered some heavy machinery which we thought was like a secret base like area 51 or something. Then we ran through some wierd explosive dirt and saw some nube dirt bike dude and chased him down and it was Jakes brother Colton. Then we found a pond that was like nasty as crap which haad a castle in the middle like a prison or something. Then we ran up the road and Colton was just following us so we told him to do a backflip on a jump which he did. Then hard finished at like 6:15 pace and finished at macens grandmas house where we got hydration and coolant.

| | 6:15am- Good morning run
3pm- I dont know my times for my workout but today was good. We did 50 minutes/ 6x800s and 2x400s. I finally broke the curse of sucking at 800s. The first 4 I was right there at the front or right behind them and on the 4th I really pushed to try and keep it tight you know so then the next 2 I fell off towards the back of the pack. Then they all had 1 more so I quick got a drink and the extra cool down time really helped on the 400s.

Woodbridge Classic (3 Miles) 00:15:38, Place overall: 17, Place in age division: 17 | | 6:15am- 30 minutes easy then at like 8:29 we hit the road to california. Sat back middle the whole way.
4:30pm- went and ran the course and warmed up the legs after the long ride then we went to our hotel and chill untill our race wich was pretty late.
9:30- Woodbridge Classic- White Division Varsity Race
It was awesome. We got there and there was tons of people. It was by far the biggest meet I have ever been to. We went and warmed up and coach was telling us just run fast and have fun doing it because this is going to be a fast race. At the start I went out really fast but coach said that it would not drain me to go hardcore at the start and so I just stuck with it. It was good first mile and Dallen caught up with me and passed me a bit I dont know what I was doing I should have stayed right on top of him but he gapped me a little. On the long trail part down to the pond I tried to catch Dallen but I would get close and then fall off again and he stayed up in front of me. Going down around the pond I think both me and Dallen sped up and passed some guys. When we were going up passed the soccer fields some white shirt guy was like right with me trying to pass me and put the hammer down and sped up hardcore and kept going and at the turn were you turn to go to the finish (like 300 meters or so) I started kicking and I passed Dallen and I kept sprinting hardcore to the end. Paul was right in front of me and I was giving it everything and passed Paul at the very end. It was one of my best kicks and it got me 2nd on the team next to my brother which was awesome. That was an awesome race and we got #1 in our division which was awesome. The race was just so fast and fun it was amazing and I was super happy with my race. PRs all around for our team and just really great. After the race we went back to the hotel and got some sleep. I ended up being the fastest freshman for the first night and then the second night for the rated race and the sweepstakes race there were 5 freshman that beat me, 4 of them were in the 15:30s just within 10 seconds and then the other got 15:17. Best race ever :)

3pm- 60 minutes with strong finish like 7.5 miles. on the strong finish some slow lvl 2s decided to go with us and they slowed us down quite a bit like they were not going even weak finish. so we left them. My legs still felt pretty dead.

| | 6:15am- 30 minutes easy
3pm- 30 minutes prerace with 4x200s. I challenged Macen to an all out 100 to prove the freshman sprinting champion so on our 3rd 200 we took it easy for 100 and the second 100 was a fight to the finish. I beat the fool by at least 3 feet but he claims it was a tie. Ill give it to him on a unofficial basis but he knows I won. The official 100 sprintoff has been schedualed for sometime during track season with official times a starter and possibly cameras and what not.

Not good. We warmed up like 2 miles or so but they were behind schedual so we had to chill for a bit. Not a good start and not a good kick at the end. Started out in front you know like after the first 150m then i dont know what happened. Got cut off like 5000 times people were tripping and man it was pretty intense. My first mile was not good. People kept going right passed me and I did nothing to go with them. After that first mile I found myself last on the team so I got my head back in the game and asked myself what the heck I was doing. Went and made some moves to get back in the race, I passed Cameron and then Andrew was right in front of me so I went and passed him to. I dont like the finish there at all but ether way my kick didnt happen. There was a pretty big group in front of me and if I had really gone for it I could have moved up like 10 spots. My kick was there but it didnt happen. I should have left more on the course than I did.

| | 8am- Beast workout @ the state course. Me and Dallen had 5x800s + 3x400s. It was really good I think and I was invisioning how I want to run at state the whole time. After the workout it started pouring rain hardcore and me and Dallen hid in the bathrooms while the lvl 3s finished up. Then after we ran over to cottonwood park where the JV guys were racing at. Really fun run and we got soaked.

| | 6:15am- 30 minutes easy
3pm- 35 minutes/ 2x1600s. felt like crap during school so i dont know why i went to practice I just when yolo. Nearly killed myself after the warmup I definitly wasnt going to do the workout. I felt bad that I wasnt doing it so I asked Nick if I should do it and he told me to man up and do it. Felt to sucky to do the first 1600 with the team so I just watched then I jumped in on the second one and ran a 505. My cool down was standing over the garbage can trying not to puke. I told myself I had to finish the workout so I went and did my second one with coach right in front of me pushing me hardcore. Got 535 on that one. After I went home with my mom and layed down on the couch and suffered. Coudlnt eat anything so didnt get very much recovery nutrients

Cedar Invitational (2.95 Miles) 00:16:05, Place overall: 26 | | 6pm- Cedar Invite- Varsity
We warmed up like 15 minutes to my grandpas house. Before the race while doing striders and such I felt really tired and stuff which made me panic. I started out fast as heck but I felt suprisingly good so it did not worry me to much that I was up in the front. Paul and Nick and the top DH guys caught me on the track. The second lap some DH guys passed me and I went with them but they were really going and after a while they broke away. Thats where Dallen probably passed me I think Im not sure. Third lap Scott moved up on me and that helped me to keep pushing. It was quite the battle and he would pick it up and I would go pass him but neither of us could break away from the other. Going up passed the soccer fields he made another move and by then I was feeling like he was finally going to break away. Then I quick changed that mind-set and busted my but and got right back on his side then I was attacking and made a surge and I never saw him again. My kick was strong but not very long only like 90 meters or so I should have probably kicked sooner but overall it was a good race. 3rd on the team 26th overall. I got a sweet PR for the course but we needed to move up on Desert Hills more so we could get them at state which didnt happen.

| | 6am- 30 easy
3pm- 15 minute warmup then all-out 1600 on track. I got 4:49 which is a beast PR. I think I could have pushed more 2nd and 3rd lap because the last lap was too easy. Not enough pain to be called an amazing race I think but hey, I have regained my fastest freshman title from Macen so yess. If I can force my self to get like 3:30 on the first 3 laps then the last lap will take care of its self.

It was a good race you know. The girls had a beast race right before us so I tried to keep that positive energy in my body. I started off right with the leaders for the first mile and I fell off of them harder than I should have probably. Jake passed me up and it was good to see he was finally racing like hes supposed to. DHells 6th guys was in front of me and I tried to close the gap but trying to push that hard kept making me fall off again. I passed him with a major push up the giant hill and I died again but last 200 I passed him with my yolo kick and so yeah. Decent race, decent time. STATE IS GOING TO BE EPIC. Especially when our top runners finally pull it together.

I blew it. I forgot to run with heart. It was a hard race but in the heat of the moment I forgot to do amazing. Really I think that is how we all ran. We warmed up and I was feeling ready to break the 3A freshman record. My start was good and I got in good position and after like the first mile we were together pretty good. The second mile is were I ruined it. It kind of fell apart but in the moment I wasnt thinking that it was just like keep pushing keep going faster. I was fighting the pain instead of embracing it. Paul was right with me and we were staying with each other but we should have gone for it. The rest of the race was pushing to the finish trying to pass some guys but to late to change my race around. Super hard and fast race but theres definitly a difference between that and running with passion and heart.

Coach was going to stay right on A standard so I stuck with coach and stayed completely focused and relaxed. Through the whole thing I just never doubted myself or worried about any of the pain. It was just fast running and it wasnt hard because I made it easy. Thats what I call a perfect run. or almost perfect. It felt good to break Pauls record because I missed my chance at state to break that one.

Yeah so I wasnt able to race with the team due to some unfortunate events (my stupid hamstring) but my family was coming down anyways to watch my brother so me and my dad ran the citizens race. It was actually my dads first 5k ever and he did beast like 18 minutes or something. It was kind of cold but when the race started it was warming up. It was a really fun race I got out with the top group but I didnt want to die so I backed off a bit. I felt I raced decent and I tried to listen to coach yelling at me but not a killer performance I wasnt setting records or nothing. It was a really awesome course and the long straight away finish really worked to my advantage and I passed some guys with a stellar kick. Then after I chilled with the team and stuff and watched the other races. My brother did pretty good and took 3rd in his race and it was cool. The whole thing was pretty sick and the boys championship race was super cool. Cant wait to come back next year and race for realskies.

Footlocker West (3.107 Miles) 00:18:10, Place overall: 27 | | 7:45am- Footlocker West- Freshman Boys
Last night I really tried to prepare myself physically and mentally and I felt pretty good before the race warming up and stuff. Yeah so me and the crew went and warmed up and got over to the start line and did some striders and such. So the race started good and I got out in front with the top group. On the little downhill around the turn I opened it up a bit and took the lead for like 50 meters but that got me nervous. Anyways hopefully someone was taking pictures right then. The first mile split was 504 and I was feeling good but then we hit the switch backs and I lost my focus. A gap opened up and I didnt go with them. I definitly should have shown more guts right then. Lots of guys passed me and when I finally got to the top of that first hill I was already out of position. I regain a bit of ground on the down hill passing up some guys but then the second hill I lost it again. My plan was to make a move going down the the base of reservour hill but my legs were so on fire and the leaders were gone I had nobody to make a move on. Nobody passed me up reservour hill. At like 1k left I picked it up and just tried to make the most of the rest of the race. Not much people to pass but I had a decent kick and ended up with a 18:10. I think I blew it on that first hill, I should have stayed on that front pack because letting them get away like that left me no chance to do what I wanted. Macen had a good race I think for being sick and just barely missed out on a medal. 27th was not the place I should have been in and it was actually quite dissapointing. Really fun race to finish of the season though. I think I lost my edge towards the end of the season so now its time to refocus and get ready to kill it in track, eye of the tiger. Peace world
